4-0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised.
The image is bright and sharp.Only a thin edge of blur around the outer lense, but its barely noticable or in the field of view. They're extremely easy and quick to use.The focus wheel is smooth, fast, and precise.I prefer their lite weight, but I have to plant an elbow or lean against some thing to prevent shake. The bins are smaller than I imagined. They're easy to hold and feel secure in my hands. They are cheapest in online auctions. 2/3 the cost of most web sites.I'm extremely happy with these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better Optics Make Better Birders. These Make You Better
After hinting for some time to my fiance, I was thrilled to receive these as a Christmas gift.I've used them over the past few weeks and have been thrilled with the quality of the optics.Scrutinizing some Bohemian Waxwings from 30 feet away revealed great detail and color richness. The adjustable locking eye cups are a great feature. The hard rubber exterior is strong and offers a good grip. The only negative review I have to offer is similar to others; the lens caps are cheap and are beneath the level of these fine binoculars. For the money I challenge anyone to find a better pair.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tack sharp, lightweight and well worth owning.
I did alot of research before deciding on this pair. As an experienced photographer, optical quality was my top priority.

Editorial Review

Canon's 18x50 IS binoculars incorporate an optical image stabilizer for shake-free viewing and minimal eye fatigue. This technology was first developed for Canon video camcorders and is now available in many of Canon's binoculars. The system employs a Vari-Angle Prism, dual transparent plates, independent vertical and horizontal sensors, and a dedicated microprocessor to continuously adjust the prism to maintain a steady image. 3-0 out of 5 stars Great but has some design flaws costing another $350 in repair
Right out of the box, these binoculars, no doubt are one of the best pair of optics I have ever purchased. The Image Stabilization feature is what makes the bincoluars so attractive...and expensive.
5-0 out of 5 stars great binoculars for looking up at night
As a novice astronomer I really enjoy the sharp, steady view with these binoculars. The view is fairly steady even with the I.S. off - depending how stable you are of course. My binoculars cost more than my telescope !! And my telescope is a decent one too. But I think they are worth it. You see so much more in the night sky than what the naked eye can see - by far. They are of course great during the day too. Their weight is not much of an issue for me, although each person is different depending on their viewing habits. I think a hard carry case would have been the best but it's not a big deal for my use. I recommend this pair of binoculars to anyone who is serious about great quality and performance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Holy gazookas!
I bought these for an upcoming alaskan cruise and boy and I glad I did. We had some other 10x25 binocs that I used for years and wanted an upgrade to something more substantial. These are amazing! They are so clear and the stabilization is the most impressing aspect of them. I have used them at least once a day since buying them for bird watching, astronomy (the moon looks amazing) and for watching a new housing development go in about 3 miles away. My parents are considering getting a pair for the cruise too, I plan to share but I don't think I'll want to be without these for long. Wonderful product that I plan to use for years to come. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Overrated
The reviews must have been written by Cannon representatives. The stabilizer works on land. However, do not buy these if you expect to use them on a boat, that is not in dock, and expect significant stabilization.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just as I expected...
the earlier reviews for this item were dead-on - optics are great, the binoculars themselves are a little heavy, but not so much that they are cumbersome, and the lens caps are flimsy and more than a little disappointing.
5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding.Amazing.Terrific.Any questions?
I've had these binocs (Canon 15x50 IS) for two weeks now and am regretting my purchase . . . . regretting that I didn't buy them years ago, that is!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This binocular was rated No 1 in the Cornell winter 2005 review of birding binocular in the economy class and it certainly desreves its No 1 spot. In this price range it is simple the best binocular for the begining birder, the budding sports fan. Being fully rubber armored and fully water proof they make very good hunting binoculars as well. The field of view is simply the widest i have ever seen. They are slightly on the heavier side at 28 oz, but the weight distribution is such that they feel much lighter than many 23-25 oz roof prisim binoculars. Eye glass wearers will also not have nay problem with these and the feature 17 mm + of eye relief and twist up eye cup with detents and feature not normally found in binoculars of this price range.

5-0 out of 5 stars night owl night vision
nice scope, feels hefty and appears to be well made. glass optics good light gathering abilities.large objective lense with nice metal screw on lense protector. Only drawback I found was the battery compartment was tiny and kind of hard to screw the battery cap on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bang for the buck.
I've only had this thing for 2 weeks but am quite impressed with it.the constuction, size and performace are what you would hope for at this price level.5-0 out of 5 stars Superb
This thing delivers exactly what it promises: it enables one to see in darkness! Within a city you will hardly find a spot dark enough to fully appreciate the scope, but in the country side at night this thing is incredible. The built-in infrared light source allows one to see in pitch black. The image is monochrome (greenish) and is distorted towards the edges, sort of like if you are looking through a bubble. Even so, the effective viewing angle is wide enough for comfortable viewing. Also, I was quite impressed with quality of the optics: if you adjust the eye-piece to your eye, the focus ring allows to get a very sharp image from just a few feet to infinity! I found a minor defect, however: The battery lid appeared to not provide a good contact to the battery, so I had to tweak the lid slightly for the power to come on. The construction of the body and the objective's assembly, however, seemed smooth and very sturdy. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Product information incorrect - No Hard Side Carrying Case
I bought this spotting scope as a gift for my husband and one of his requirements was that it include a hard-side carrying case.Listed in the features section above it says "Hard-side and compact soft-side carrying cases included".5-0 out of 5 stars Magni-ficent
Proving that there's life in the old dog yet, Bushnell have come up with this, the successor to the out-dated, poor-performing Trophy Splashproof Spotting Scope, and I have to say, it's a fantastic improvement. As soon as I took it out of the box I was impressed with its styling, shape, colour, and of course, waterproofness. I set it up in my front room and spent a happy couple of hours watching my neighbours coming and going, and they were oblivious to my surveillance. It's not the most subtle 'scope out there but stick a blanket over your head and you're laughing. Any one who has been caught out in the rain will appreciate this little beauties moulded plastic housing, as water really does roll off it like, erm, water off a duck's back. Stunning. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Grab one while they last!!!
I have been using these Binocs for about 6 months now and find them a genuine joy everytime I bring them out. On a recent autumn eveningfrom a hotel balcony overlooking a golf course I was able to take in a marvelous variety of deep space objects. The sky was fairly dark- but by no means out in the country- and I saw the beauty of M4, M8, M20, M26, M16, M13,M31, M27,... and more. These are definitely Astro binoculars. They do need a tripod. You focus each eye individually. And there is some fade out in sharp focus as the eye reaches the outer edges of the field of view. This is not something I get worried about for $250. Maybe $1250. I have a Sunpack heavy duty photo tripod that goes for about $80 at Best Buy, andI use the Sunpak adapter to attach the Celestron. It is NOT the sturdiest set-up, but I found that I put the tripod into some very warped positions (one leg sometimes) and walk it around for better views. I can fit the entire Plaeides into the FOV andthe view of the Orion Nebula shows nearly the entire swrd. Glorious!! And one more thing- because the eyepieces focus individually, you don't have to worry about collimation issues. I had ordered a Skymaster 15x70mm that were so out they gave me a headache to look through them. I did get another pair, however, and they were fine.
4-0 out of 5 stars Celestron Big Binoculars
A great value. These binoculars were great for terrestrial viewing as well as astronomical. The view was very clear, edge to edge. My only gripe is the individual eyepiece focus. With several people looking through these during the day, the focusing got to be a pain
4-0 out of 5 stars Don't spend too much for an expensive tripod
It is a good binocular for the money. I have a 4 inch telescope also, but this bino has wider angle and is easier to stargaze. When both eyepieces are set on a wider view, I am getting double vision. Maybe my eyes, or out of collimation. When eyepieces are closed where you only see one circle with both eyes, then there is no problem. However, the most important thing to know is that you must have a heavy duty tripod. If I had researched in advance that a heavy duty tripod is a real must for this bino, I wouldn't buy it. Because those tripods can cost more than the binocular. After researching and testing the tripods at the photo shops, I finally bought "Slik Pro 700 DX" tripod on the net for $140.It was indeed a good decision. ... Great low - light viewing.I'm getting these for the boat, and their smaller size is a plus. They're about 3/4 size.Kids can handle them well.A bit heavier than I expected, but solid.I highly recommend them.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best waterproof binocular in price range
These are a great value with good eye relief (18 mm, important for use with glasses), easy to hold and focus, good sized exit pupil (8/32 = 4 mm), wide field of view (395'), and not too heavy (26 oz.)A large exit pupil is important on a moving boat; it's easier to keep the image in view. They appear to be rugged; I and several other people used several pairs of these for several years, and none of them went out of alignment.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bushnell Pro Legend Rangefinder
Excellent rangefinder. I did not find any of the negative issues the previous reviewer listed. I find it works great in the woods and it does exactly as advertised. I was able to range trees at nearly 900 yards. This is better than advertised. It works great on the golf course too. I've owned a Bushnell Sport and a Simmons 800. The Legend is far superior to both. The Sport was okay but it had a very limited range. The Simmons had a better range but the eye pc is too small and is very hard to use if you wear eyeglasses. The Legend is a great buy and superior product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for use in the woods!
The Bushnell Yardage Pro Legend is the waterproof version of the Scout. It is a solid feeling unit with excellent sensitivity.I was able to range on a pencil-sized twig at 60yds. and a 6" fence post at 250yds. IN THE OPEN.Unfortunately, this sensitivity seems to be a disadvantage in the woods!I could not get a reading on a 16" tree at 50yds. because there were some unseen (by me) twigs between me and the tree. The zip mode only works for >150yds. and in fairly open terrain.I will be returning this unit. The Nikon 400 works better in the woods. ... Although I don't have a lot of experience with good binoculars, the Nikon Action Extreme has impressed me with its quality, image brightness, field of view, and image sharpness. It's a fairly large binocular and will tire your arms after extended handheld use. An excellent value for the price.
