5-0 out of 5 stars Great for caves and canyons
I've had this camera about a month now and am extremely pleased with it. I've taken it into numerous caves, where dripping water and muddy conditions are common, and it has survived being dragged around. Moreover, it has taken fantastic closeups of tiny features. I am amazed at how good the macro feature is, especially when there is virtually no light.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pentax Optio W20 7MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
This is my second Optio (due to an unfortunate accident snorkling in Hawaii) and I can't believe the pictures and adaptability of this camera. The W20 has more features than the W10 I had previously, and this takes even better pictures.I can pick a mode and take great pictures and video, either on land or under water. My only recommendation is to get the silicone cover that is available if you are going to use it underwater. It will keep your fingers from manipulating the lock mechanism that opens the waterproof door to the battery and memory card. The camera is a great size for those of us with larger hands that have a hard time holding the new smaller cameras, and it is an added benefit that the lens never protrudes from the camera body. All of the zoom and focus is internal in the camera.Makes it really easy to slip into a pocket.I liked this style of camera so much I went and bought another one.Even after I compared it to the Olympus and Casio.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lousy quality pics
I just bought this camera off Amazon, and owned it for less than 24 hours before deciding to return it. I did a side by side comparison, between my 5 year old 4 megapixel Canon and this new 7 mp Pentax.Indoors with flash. Outdoors. In shade. In auto everything mode. Set to my preferences. No contest. The Pentax lost every time. The colors were muddy. The sharpness was far less than my 4 mp Canon. The flash kept overexposing everything, and washing out colors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeded all expectations
I just finished 13 dives in Cozumel using the Sony DSC-N1 camera in the Sony MPK-NA Marine Pack.My other photo gear included Ultralight Control Systems arms, clamps and adapters; one or two Underwater Kinetics Light Cannon 100 HID lights; and a tube-style video housing with a Canon Elura mini DV camcorder. The original plan was to use the Sony DSC-N1 only for stills and the camcorder for all video. But the LANC controller for the camcorder malfunctioned and the video housing was a bit too cumbersome to maneuver during the Cozumel-style drift diving.A rig with one UK Light Cannon, an Ultralight arm, and the Sony DSC-N1 and MPK-NA proved to work the best for the daytime dives.A second Light Cannon was used during the one night dive. The deepest dive was 125' and most photography was between 100' and 40'.The DSC-N1 was setup in Housing and Macro mode per the instructions.Since I was using the Light Cannons instead of strobes, and I did not want any backscatter, I turned off the flash.I also turned off the AF Illuminator. The camera was left in full Auto exposure, single (non-burst), full 8 meg for stills, 640(fine) for mpegs.I used a 2 GB Sony Pro Duo memory stick that could store up to 511 stills or about 25 minutes of mpeg movie at the above size and quality levels.I had previously tried a few mpegs in typical interior residential living space nighttime illumination conditions and knew that the cameras low-light capability for movie making was significantly inferior to what most camcorders are capable of.But this was not an issue in the bright 100'+ daytime visibility at Cozumel. And the Light Cannons provided the additional light needed for dark overhangs, close-up color, and for the night dive. The auto focus was excellent for both stills and mpegs.Only during a few shots where someone had kicked up sand did the camera get confused and focus on the sand in the water instead of the subject. The exposures were consistently good.I did not have the Sony red filter but for two dives I did borrow the red filter (unknown brand) from my buddies video camera and zip-tied it to the MPK-NA housing. This filter did not appear to provide much color correction. When taking a lot of mpegs the camera battery indicator goes down fairly quickly. But I shot 1.5 GB of movies during a dive and the battery indicator seemed to hold still for a long while at about 1/8.I think that I could fill the 2 GB memory stick using a single battery, but probably not a 4 GB stick. What surprised me was the recorded sound. When the housing is used in air the sound is quite muffled. But in the water sounds are easily transmitted though the housing. The controls available underwater are limited, but after all this is a point-and-shoot camera. For ease of use, still and mpeg flexibility, and quality of the resulting images, this camera and housing are amazing. And very low-cost compared to any current digital SLR or video tape underwater solution that I am aware of.I plan to try the Sony red filter, adding strobes, and experimenting with the multi-burst bracketing and other adjustments in the near future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works to 130 feet
Initially I was wary after reading a few reports that this case may leak, but so far I have had no problems at all.I tested it to 12 feet at the bottom of my swimming pool (with a 1lb lead weight inside to make it sink) and then took it to 130 feet on several dives the following day with my trusty S400 camera.Great pictures, clear video, what a great product.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Bargain! And Works as Advertised!
I've had the S400 and this housing for two years now and I've taken it on at least 20 dives. It's gone with me down to about 80 ft numerous times. No issues, no leaking. I am not exceptionally careful with the camera prep but I do use dessicant - which I think is a no brainer for UW photography. For $170 this is the bargain of a lifetime. I love being able to use the same camera for both land and underwater shots. I don't have to master two camera interfaces. After two years, even if it fails at this point, I got my money's worth about 18 months ago, in my opinion. I can't recommend this enough - for anyone who is nervous, just buy the insurance for your trip like the other reviewers suggested - and see how it goes. Canon has made a fan for life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works Just Like it Should
This underwater case works just like a non-pro hopes it will. You get it out of the box, you put your camera in, and close the lock. You jump in the water and take perfect digital pictures. That's it! You can access all the functions while you're underwater. It's really cool looking. I can't say enough great things about this product! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Dive, Dive, Dive
I have been using one of these cases for a couple of years and probably 400 dives, many to the 130 foot recreational dive limit. If you follow the instructions and keep the O-ring clean and greased with silicon grease you should have no problems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great
The price for this thing is pretty steep but it's made in Japan and it's well constructed. The first thing to note is that it was a little bigger than I expected which made the camera and case combo a bit bulky. It would probably be inconvenient for most land activities. It is very important to read the instruction manual for this product! The most disconcerting thing is that if it leaks and your camera gets destroyed, Canon won't pay for your camera repairs even though they designed it. Also, if you don't apply the grease that comes with the case I suspect it might leak.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it
I have taken over 3,000 photos with this case and I love it. The buttons are very easy to use underwater, the settings are intuitive and the canon A95 gives great results. I like the yellow O-ring which shows up any particles on it much easier than my previous case which had a black o-ring.
5-0 out of 5 stars Does the flash still work?
From the picture, it looks like the case covers the flash. From my experience, if diving under 15 feet, pictures get really dark, really fast. Does this case cover the flash? Can anyone comment or post images from deeper water shots?

    1-0 out of 5 stars DC500 Leaks
I recently purchased the DC500 to replace the Sealife Reefmaster I've had for the last 4 years. The DC500 leaked both times I used it, apparently from the lens section of the housing. It was not enough to damage the camera, but taking pictures was futile. It is being sent back to Sealife for inspection, will update on the results.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money, buy something else!
I got the SeaLife DC500 proset camera & external strobe flash for Christmas.I took it on a week long dive trip to the Bahamas.First of all, the external flash almost NEVER worked, out of hundreds of shots it worked approximately 3 times, despite extensive babying, tinkering, etc.Secondly, the casing fogged up constantly, even with the included desiccant capsules, making it almost impossible to use even without the strobe.Third, it froze up WAY too frequently, causing me to miss photos from a 140' wall dive that was one of the best dives of my life.I could have taken pictures of animals that were probably "new" to science, but my camera was busy having a seizure. Now, it appears that I probably won't be able to return it because I took it underwater. It seems kind of difficult to me to find out whether an underwater camera works without taking it underwater, but maybe I'm just stupid.Bottom line- buy a disposable underwater 35 mm camera before you buy this piece of junk, you'll get better pictures with less frustration.

1-0 out of 5 stars Housing leaking, no service
I purchased SeaLife Reef Master DC500 and went to my diving trip to Egypt. Housing of the camera started leaking already on the first day. OK, we thought, let's contact the dealer and get it repaired. BUT it appeared not to be so simple. I have sent them 4 e-mails within last 3 months, but got no reply. We don't have SeaLife service in Latvia and the responsible service in USA is just not giving any attention to our attempts to contact them. So, I guess, I'll just trash the camera and forget about SeaLife. My advice to others - DON'T BUY THIS CAMERA IF YOU DON'T HAVE SEALIFE SERVICE IN YOUR COUNTRY! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars More reasons to dive
I'm really impressed, I bought the SD-110 a year ago as a quick small digital for trips. I was never planning to take it diving. The housing is really impressive, I've done 4 dives in the month I have had the waterproof case (WP-DC10) and it works great.
5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeded expectations
Canon makes a great underwater housing for a reasonable price.I purchased this for a recent trip to Grand Cayman and Cozumel.I didn't go Scuba diving on this trip, but I did take the camera snorkeling (diving to depths ~20ft).It worked flawlessly and I got some pictures I was very happy with! One thing I did not anticipate was the use the camera got out of the water.Going from AC to the hot humid outdoors, my EOS rebel fogged up (condensation) and even after 30 minutes I couldn't take good pictures. With the SD110 in the UW housing, I just wipped the housing's glass portal with a lens tissue after it had warmed up a couple of minutes and I was able to take clear pictures.
5-0 out of 5 stars The coolest thing EVER!!!
If you swim in the ocean, lake, or just like to be around water and want to take pictures, this is the thing to have, it's worth every penny!! The only thing you can't do when it is in the case is upload pictures to your computer, change out memory cards and charge the battery. It is truly amazing. I've had my eye on this for a very long time and with a cruise coming up I knew I had to get it. I'm a snorkeling enthusist and this is definatly the thing to have.
