Quick adjusting, well built and simple to operate
I bought this head with a Bogen 3021pro tripod.Withing minutes of taking it out of the box I had it on my tripod with my Rebel on the top.It works just as I had hoped based on the description, and it is really well built.Just by holding it in your hand you can tell it is a solid piece.By simply pulling the trigger you can change the angle of your camera almost on the fly.There is also a friction control knob that adjusts the tension on the trigger.I was concerned whether the head can handle long lenses, but it was as solid as a rock on my EF 70-200mm f/4L and 100mm macro.I am sure there are other ball heads with higher load capacity, but I just dig the quick trigger action of the grip.

Great Product
I paired this with a 3011BN tripod and love to use it.Their are so many options with this head its quick to position and locks immediatly afer you let go of the grip.You can tie in a shutter release with an optional accessory from Manfrotto.The only downside is it is slightly heavy but I can live with it.

322RC2 head with the 3021 tripod.
I bought this head to go with the 3021 tripod and am so glad I did. I have bought so many cheap tripods and they are always losing feet, swaying in the wind and are unstable. This head is so fun & easy. It has an easy squeeze handle that you can set the tension for ease of movement and quickly position your camera (even vertically) then just release and its locked in place. The levels are also accomodating as they are right where you can see them. The locking mechanism has a pin that adds additional security when connecting your camera to the head. I like this as it will prevent an accidental release and I would just hate to have my 20D and whatever L lens I may possibly have on it to fall to the ground.

Nice head, but "Tilt Only"
This is a well made head constructed of solid metal with a nice finish.There are no plastic parts and even the rubber piece on the quick release plate is hard rubber.I have used it every week for about two years and have had no problems with it.I use it mainly attached to a monopod for sports photography and videography.The quick release has a clever locking mechanism to prevent accidental release.I bought an extra quick release plate so I can switch between two cameras.
Very nice for my needs
Very well made and looks like it will hold up for a very long time!I'm not a professional photographer, far from it, but I don't think you can go wrong with this if you have a DSLR without a huge telephoto lens to support.I have an Olympus E-500 system and it's great with this!

Good head for the price
I bought this head because it was a good price, and it had the weight carrying capacity to hold my panoramic head, a 70-200mm zoom lens and my DSLR.Also, I was looking for a head with a quick release system which allows me to quickly remove and attach my camera to the ball head.The 486RC2 meets these requirements admirably.

Excellent for the Rebel XT
You can feel the quality taking it out of the box. The size of the RC2 is perfect for the Rebel XT, and the panning option of this head is of more use than you would think of.

Excellent and affordable Ball Head
I bought this ball head because my previous one had too much play in it--I'd set it and the lens would sag a little as I let go. Made my Manfrotto/Bogen 3216 monopod useful
Simple and sturdy construction.Worked well on my last vacation for both my SLR (6 lbs!) and my camcorder.I originally bought my monopod because I thought it would be more portable than a bulky tripod.Sadly, I found without a head, a monopd isn't very useful unless I am shooting something at eye-level.Now I can tilt in horizontal or vertical positions, and it adds stability when shooting with 300mm lens.Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done. ... BOGEN 3265 GRIP ACTION BALL HEAD WITH QUICK RELEASE PLATE
This is a fantastic tripod head.Although I have read some reviews regarding the weight capacity, I have had no issues using my Canon EOS D20 with a 17-85mm lens attached.I do think that it could have problems with my larger 100-300, but I did not intend to use it with that lens.The incredible versatility is not necessarily needed for that type of functionality.

Not for SLR's
Being from the video game generation, it seemed like a great idea.I must admit it is very easy to use if you are used to using a PC joystick.If you only want to use a small point and shoot or very small SLR without flash, battery grip, or lenses over 100mm, this is an acceptable solution.
Good, for a while...
I have had this head for several years and recently only used it rarely. The concept behind this is sound, though the execution is lacking. If you want to support even a moderate weight camera and lens the tension has to be set nearly to the maximum. When it's set this way repositioning the head is very difficult. Even when tightened down all the way, if the head is set at an angle it tends to fall forward. It worked pretty well for the first year or so but is essentially useless now. ... Read more

Good, but it could be better.
The quick release lever was initially blocked by my camcorder. However the lever can be adjusted using an Allen ranch. I've had no problems with the lever after the adjustment. The tripod head feels solid and moves freely. It works quite well for my Panasonic AG-DVX100a (four pounds). However I would recommend the 3130 head instead. It supports more weight and has a side release that wouldn't be as easily blocked by larger camcorders.
