1-0 out of 5 stars it is aweful.
I have had one for a long time. The mac OS X drivers are terrible and glitch up your system. It is possible to get them to work if you monkey with them for a while but not worth it. Seems to be a good piece of hardware but the software sucks so bad it cannot be redeemed.

1-0 out of 5 stars WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY
This scanner was a great disappointment. It never worked for one moment fresh out of the box! As you can't return it to the store you are reduced to immediately spending more money on a long distance phone call to get a replacement. Not a new one that is. Just someone else's rebuilt problem. The buttons didn't work on the replacement! Help was only another long distance call away, and we all know how long it can take to be the 'next person in line'. Finally, the third unit arrived. Yet another rebuilt piece of garbage with dirt and cloudy streaks on the inside of the glass! Makes for nice looking scanned images!2-0 out of 5 stars unstable

3-0 out of 5 stars connector incompatible with PC USB port
Print quality is good. But the cables come with printer can only connect to Canon digital cameras (I tried poershot and EOS 10D), it cannot connect to PC UBS ports, though it looks like UBS connector. So, there is no way you can print a picture to cp-x00 from a PC.4-0 out of 5 stars Great picture quality!
I have been very pleased with this printer. So long as your resolution is set very high on your camera your pictures will be as good as lab quality!5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality Photos
This is an excellent little printer. The quality of the images produced is great. Just as good as traditional film developed photos. It's easy to setup & use either directly from my camcorder or via my computers(with the appropriate accessory CCK-CP200).This is my first experience with a dye sublimation printer & I can tell you the quality of the images produced far surpasses most inkjet printers. The only drawbacks about this printer is it only prints small sizes 4 x 6's & Wallet size 2 x 3's.There is a 3.5" x 5" size but its only available overseas. The paper/ink packs are not easy to find other than online & their not cheap.36 - 4" x 6" prints will run about [money],Wallets about [money].Overall however this is a great printer which I enjoy using. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars high maintenance
Don't buy this - yes, it's cheap, but unless you like babysitting your printer by feeding each sheet in by hand, you're better off spending a few more bucks and getting something that works.

4-0 out of 5 stars Economical and Long Lasting
This printer has lasted a long time.I've had several HPs that jammed then died within six months of purchase, but this printer is a workhorse. It has been overused for three years now and still has great quality.I find the ink cartridges extremely simple and quick to change out.My only problem with the printer is that the color of printing on envelopes is sometimes a little funky (brownish), rather than the black it should be.

1-0 out of 5 stars worst printer ever

1-0 out of 5 stars Big Time Failure
Don't buy this scanner. I'm a light user, and this scanner failed after 18 months. The software was okay, the hardware quit working after the warranty expired, and the scanner unit needs to be replaced by a repair center. It's so costly, the repair is not worth it. Do yourself a favor and go with another brand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still a great scanner
Why am I writing a review for a scanner that has been out of production for 2 years? Because it's so darn good! I've had mine since January 2002 and it has performed without a hitch. I have upgraded to Mac OSX since I bought this and was really disappointed Epson did not make a driver for it. Luckliy I discovered Ed Hamrick's superb "VUESCAN" software. Get it at hamrick.com. On OSX or Windows it simply blows away any Twain driver or Epson driver. It rivals silverfast AI. The best thing about this scanner is the firewire interface. It's rocket fast for print scans. Why have scanner makers not migrated to this far superior interface?
1-0 out of 5 stars Professional Photographer
Buyer Beware. I bought two of these scanners and both were defective. The first one had a large piece of plastic shaving under the scanning glass. The second one did not operate as the scanning light did not illuminate and I had to return that one too. I really liked the features that this scanner offered but I am not convinced of the reliablility of this product and would not recommend. If you decide to buy it-check your unit out closely when you get it home. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk
There is no Tech Support for the 5800/5820 scanners. They are the most worthless pieces of junk ever to be assembled.I would not buy this crap if it was being sold for a dollar. The Windows XP drivers are corrupt and Tech support does not answer their phones. When they actually do answer the phone they put you on hold for hours. Most likely because they have an unending stream of furious customers.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a great scanner just ok
I've had this scanner for just a little over 2 years. After the first year I developed a problem with the power supply cable connection in the back of this unit. The scanner's power supply cable unit in the back became loose and it would not recognize that the power supply cable was actually connected to it.I ended up having to hold the power cable into the power socket for it to recognize its own power supply cable.I then had problems with the usb cable. The usb cable is directly attached to the back of the unit which cannot be replaced. For some reason or another it failed to work correctly by not recognizing that it was plugged into my computers usb socket.I would have to play with the usb cable itself in order for my computer to recognize that it was connected to my computer. It finally stopped recognizing that I had it plug into my usb outlet on my computer.I think that the wiring inside of this scanners usb cable may have become frayed, due to poor quality. After having so much trouble with the cables and then the last issue with the usb connection, I gave up on it and have sent it to a better place- the trash can.
5-0 out of 5 stars not the newest but still does a great job
Yes, of course this scanner is a bit older.I've had mine for a while now and it still does a great job.I am on my second computer with this scanner, in fact. It's extremely easy to use and the one touch buttons are a great help when you're in a hurry. The resolution is also good and I can scan photos big enough to do whatever I want with them. The top cover slips off easily for items that are too large or long.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ticking time bomb
I used to like this scanner except for the excessive amount of dust previously mentioned in other reviews, then, I unplugged it.I tried to plug it back in and it would not work, the twain drivers were not recognized. After reinstalling both the scanner and twain drivers per epson's 5 day late response it still would not work.I suspected compatibility issues with Photoshop or Fireworks, uninstalled those programs, removed any reference to twain extensions or epson from the registry to no avail.I plugged in a co-worker's scanner which worked immediately.Epson probably has some of the worst software coders I have come across. Finally, I solved the problem, running it over with my car ala Office Space.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worked GREAT.. at FIRST!
Okay.. had I posted a review for this scanner within the first few months of owning it, I would have given it rave reviews a-la most of the other reviews here. I'm glad procrastinated. I noticed dust starting to appear in my scans. At first they were negligable, easilly mistaken for a spec on the picture itself, but I can fully attest that over time the dust will accumulate under the glass and your scans will have a considerable amount of noise. Sure your software can clean it up, but a quality scanner shouldn't make you do that manual work. So in short, I only recommend this scanner if you love dust! I wouldn't take it for free if someone gave it to me! The only reason I rated 2 stars instead of 1 is becaus it did work well for the first few months. After sitting, it's become useless to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars I have no complaints about this scanner!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a professional scanner
Using this scanner is a frustrating experience. The current software from HP's site does not work well with Mac OS X. There is an option to descreen, but it doesn't do anything. The descreening option is either on or off, there are no parameters to set. The software interface is not intuitive, and the scanner is noisy, too. This is some of the worst software in recent history. There is no "scan" button. What kind of scanning software doesn't have a nice, big "scan" button? Don't buy this scanner. Buy an Epson or Agfa instead.

1-0 out of 5 stars Mac OSX? Stay clear of this scanner
I use a scanner daily in my work as a college teacher, as I put most of my teaching materials online. I was impressed with the specs of this scanner, revews were positive, and was happy for about two weeks. Then I bought a new Mac G5, OS 10.3 Panther. The 8200 software was incompatable for a very long time, during which I had to go back to my old scanner, as did all other Mac users. Amazon was not my friend here. Hp finally issued an new version of the software, of which all I can say is beware, under no circumstancces should you install this on any system later than 10.2.8. If it has been some time since you used a windows machine, you might get all teary-eyed and sentimental when you start experiencing system crashes, kernel panic, data loss. Hp's reaction is screw you, you bought the machine, and now you expect it to work? Do you realize how little we care? I have learned to deal with daily crashes, and reinstall my system software about every two weeks.

1-0 out of 5 stars do not buy an HP scanner
I have windows xp.I installed the software, connected this scanner via USB 2.0, and have had nothing but misery since. For example, while I am writing this I am waiting the 5 minutes it takes to do a negative scan job using the HP software.Everything about this scanner is slow.Ok, well I once scanned a text document in, that went pretty fast, but if you want anything greater than 200 dpi scans be prepared to wait - and wait.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well
The Microtek Scanmaker 4800 has done all I have ask it to do.

3-0 out of 5 stars good but
The scanner has been good for everything I scanned except some photo's. Most photo's have spots on them after scanning that I can't seem to get rid of no matter what I do to try to adjust it. The picture they use to do adjustments is too small to see what you are doing. It will look good but then when you save it and go in to look at it, it still isn't right. It could be a little faster too. I don't understand why it will scan some photo's well and some are really bad. I cleaned it as directed and still it came out bad. Not my choice of scanner from now on. Will go to Cannon.

I used this printer twice and kept getting "paper jam" although there was no paper in the printer.Had to send the product back.Wouldn't buy another.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good bargain, good pictures
Since I got my digital camera I'd just been saving everything to CD and not printing anything out because printing through a website gets so expensive!I'd rather just have my own little printer, as long as the prints are good. The prints from this are great, and although they smudge if you don't allow them enough time to dry, they are good quality.I can't speak to fading yet, because I've only had it a month, but so far so good!

4-0 out of 5 stars Does the job as described.
I bought both the HP Photosmart 230 and the Sony DPP-EX5 and both produced a high quality picture.About 98% as good as developed from a service on kodak paper. The 2% represents the finish (which is a bit sticky till it dries) and some pictures come out a hair light (which is actually a good thing if your pics come out dark).Either printer would do the job, I settled on the HP for the name and choices of paper and easy access to many accessories. You won't be disappointed with the results of the printer. It is worth the money. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Mostly Great - Used for 3 years now, but...
I LOVE this printer!I've owned one since a few months after they became available, and bought a camera (HP 618) well-matched to it.Here's the good, the bad, and the ugly - and I've experienced all three but still love the printer enough to be getting a new one right now.2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy if you have XP as your OS
This printer is terrible if you're running XP. Trouble getting it to operate, problems once you do, and very little help from HP. Good luck even getting the proper drivers to download from the HP site. When it works, pic quality is great...although there are feeding problems once in awhile.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great but can be tricky to set up.
I've had this printer for about 8 months, and I am finally happy with it in general. When I first set it up, it was via parallel connection on a PC running Windows ME. Total set up time was 10 minutes and text and graphics printing was very good. However, loading photo paper, which requires some tricky maneuvers and varies among the different sized papers, is enough to discourage a lot of photo printing, especially on 4" x 6" paper, which uses a separate tray for loading and is finicky on a good day. I then moved the printer to my laptop and tried to set it up via the USB port. This was rougher and required uninstalling the printer and then reinstalling it and selecting USB connectivity. Not a big deal except nowhere does it say to do that; you just figure it out by trial-and-error. The big deal came when I upgraded my laptop's OS to Windows XP. The original driver for ME or even Windows 2000 does not work with XP. Try finding the driver via the HP website and you're in for the run-around of a lifetime. It turns out their FTP site in the U.S. is so overloaded that you'll only be directed to that site at weird, off hours. Otherwise, you're redirected to the Twilight Zone. My success finally came when I located (via a Google search) HP's Euro FTP server, which at midnight here was quite responsive. Quality remains quite acceptable and noise is very good. Ink usage is a bit high, but as I rarely am in the mood to print photos anymore, it's less of an issue. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Hate This Printer!Annoying messages to reset it !!!

Until this product, I was a huge promoter of HP printers, but the HP 1215 apparently was designed with little attention to Apple compatibility.Unpredictably it refused to print first in 0S9 and then in 0SX.I'm frankly sick of downloading and reloading new drivers only to find they don't work and/or freeze up my entire computer.Because of this printer I've cleaned off my entire hard drive, lost valuable files and programs, and still wound up with a non-functional machine. It's been in my closet for 6 months, and I'm considerably happier with a new bottom-of-the-line Canon printer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great printer

The Alps MD-5000 is already a very solid printer capable of up to 600 x 600 dpi. Now imagine adding the benefits of dye sublimation without having to shell out the money for an entirely new printer. 5-0 out of 5 stars Epson 3000 great for printing engineering logs
This printer is the absolute best available for one thing:printing continuous feed logs with tractor feed paper. In fact, the only two decent printers for doing inkjet printing on continuous feed paper are the Epson Stylus Color 1520 and 3000.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality printer
I am a graphic designer, and require excellent quality in color printing. The Epson 3000 is very easy to color balance, and produces outstanding results with premium glossy paper.Color photographs printed on the Epson 3000 are realistic and accurate. This printer is easy to use and is very cost efficient. The INK cartidges are easy to refill, and have saved me thousands of dollars in INK.This printer will treat you good, if you treat it good.Paper loading works fine if the directions are followed as supplied from the manufacturer.I would classify this printer as a professional printer, a novice in printing might have problems with it.For the money, this printer is outstanding.

1-0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!
This printer is terrible. I am a graphic designer. I've had the printer for about 3 years. I have hated it since I got it. Hate isn't the word... Abhor, is more like it.

1-0 out of 5 stars my HP2200c scanner was junk
After a three days of successful scanning of about 50 photos, my newly purchased HP2200c scanner made a loud pop, and electrical smelling smoke came from it.It was just sitting there and BANG!It made OK scans (I've seen better) but never worked again after the BANG.

5-0 out of 5 stars No review - need help
My granddaughter gave me her unused scanner, hp 2200c, but has lost the software. How do I find an installation disk? I'll be glad to purchase what's needed. Thanx, Bill

4-0 out of 5 stars Very nice scanner
I've owned this scanner for almost two years and has worked perfectly for everything I scan.Never a glitch.Unfortunately I'm now needing one that will scan negatives and slides as well.I wish they were as cheaply priced as this one was.For a first time user, you can't go wrong in buying this little workhorse. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Paul
All operations of the scanner work well with the exception of the feature to scan positive slides and negatives. These are of poor quality.

1-0 out of 5 stars probably incompatible with Mac OS10.4
Although my scanner is a 5900, which will not work with my new Mac (G4, running Tiger 10.4.2), this one uses the same "ScanWizard 5" software package so the odds are pretty good that the 6800 won't work on current Macs either. This failure is after numerous contacts with their tech support and repeated downloads of drivers, but for some reason it will not load the "scanner finder" - obviously a critical component. I have given up and will upgrade, probably to a Canon, but what a waste of what SHOULD be a still-functional item.

1-0 out of 5 stars Major software and driver problems
Read a lot about the 6800 and was looking forward to using it.After hours of trying to install the drivers, both the one included on the CD and the update on the Microtek website, I finally gave up.The computer would recognize the scanner if I was using Photoshop but not if I was using it as a stand alone.Big problem since the Digital Ice feature (the reason I bought this scanner) only works through their proprietary software.I compared the scans in Photoshop with others I had done with an inexpensive HP All-In-One.There was basically no difference. Not wanting the headache of endless time spent with tech support, I packed it up and sent it back. Now looking for an alternative. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars High Color Ink Use
I've only had mine for one year and only used it for photos. At first it printed well, but the paper feeder is hard to set and often misfeeds (more than one page at a time). The ink in the color cartridge dried up quickly and replacements are expensive. I've had a lot of problems with this one and even though their customer service responds quickly, they didn't always address the issue I was experiencing. I would not buy this brand again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great printer, ink supplies will nearly bankrupt you
I have used my z705 for less than two months. The reason I gave it any stars is because the print quality is quite good for a disposable printer.Unfortunately, the black ink cartridge runs out quickly and replacements are overpriced. This is the second Lexmark I have ditched and purchased a Canon i560 instead.5-0 out of 5 stars Great printer for the price
Setup is fast and easy. The printer is reasonably fast and very quiet. Even without the special photo ink cartidge, photos printed on glossy paper look great. Printed text looks fine, too. It's a great little printer. ... Read more
