Excellent player for Hi8 and Regular 8
I am in the middle of a project to get all my many "old" Regular 8 and Hi-8 recordings onto hard drives and thence onto DVD's.In the midst of all this old my Sony CVD-1000 died on me, and I have, over the years, spent too much on repairs for it.This led me to the Digital 8mm Walkman.I have NOT used it, and will not use it, for RECORDING (I do not record in Digital 8 format).But for playback it is superb.I am very pleased with what it does. very. I suspect that some of my satisfaction comes from the Sony introduction of video-processing circuitry, which evidently cleans up the images remarkably.However, there is a price: some of my "pans" now involve a degree of blurring, which I do not think are present when played "unprocessed". But I have decided I am more than willing to accept this negative in face of the excellent video I am now capturing.So my five stars are based SOLELY on playback. One can cut out the video processing if one wishes; it is quite easy. Incidentally, the small size of this unit is a welcome plus; my workbench is already quite crowded with equipment, and I appreciate the Walkman's very small footprint greatly!

Worth the purchase
I know DV and Mini Dv is now the "standard" however I find it hard to tell the difference between the D8 footage and DV. Image is crisp and clear. The sound quality excellent. I would recommend. If you want to keep your presnet cam but want the quality of the digital image this is the way to go. I highly recommend. Also it eases using your cam for playback so less wear and tear on your cam.

Pro-Level recorder with impeccable quality
This device has at least prosumer level recording and playback capabilities. I hooked it up to my 3CCD camera and the results were extremely satisfying when using the Digital 8 mode. It hooks right up to the computer with the 1394 connect and I can extract capture points, fast forward, rewind etc. by clicking the mouse. It supports 625 Horizontal lines of resolution which exceeds my hi-end camera and I can not express enough the clarity of the image. No specks of colored snow or artifacts dancing in the dark areas of the image as I previously had with my pro level SVHS recorder, only crisp, smooth, detailed image rendering. The sound quality is also excellent. For what I wanted it for,, it is better than perfect and for what I will also use it for it is a blessed device.. I highly recommend this recorder/player to anyone needing portability, quality, and professional results for mastering to video tape and of coarse for playback.. The only thing that scares me about this device is how light and small it is,, but at the same time, it's exactly what I need. Hope this info helps someone out there in deciding. Peace..

Great for the cost
This mic doesn't perform as well as a Shure or Sennheiser shotgun microphone, but it doesn't cost $999 either.I'm using it with a JVC DV camera, and a Behringer 10 channel mixer.It's well worth the money.For the best location sound, use this mic on a boom pole, and lavalier mics for each actor.I wasblown away with how much better the sound from this mic is than from the Shure dynamic (handheld) microphone I was using before.Read more

It has Everything!!
This mp3 player comes extremely well equipped with anything I could ask for: MP3, Radio, Video, Pictures, Voice recording, Line in audio, WMA, huge screen and more.

AVI files
I just wanted to point out to the guy that gave the PMP a bad review because he couldn't get an AVI file to play that AVI files CAN IN FACT BE ONE OF MANY DIFFERENT FORMATS.So unless a video player actually supports all the formats, you'll run into this with any player.And unless the company pays licensing fees for certain formats, the support will be shoddy.
Faulty Faulty Faulty!
I was given this as a gift for Christmas and just over 3 months after I recieved it, I put it on charge for a night, and came back to it and the screen had a dead spot in it. The next time I put it on charge, it completely messed up the whole screen to where now nothing is visible anymore. And the player only has a 90 day warranty, and when I tried to contact Iriver about the problem, I recieved no response. You will probable be better off buying an Ipod that plays both mp3s and videos instead of this product. ... Read more

iRiver PMP 140
I have had my PMP 140 for around 15 days. In this review I will briefly describe the pros and cons of this device
Good but flawed, expecting software upgrade
This is a good product, it works well and has the advantage over the iPod of letting you dump the music files right into the device folder without using iTunes.It has a great screen that is larger than the Photo iPod and runs .avi videos well.I have over 200 music CDs, hundreds of photos and I'm backing up my laptop hard disk to it.However, it is clumsy with the user interface but I hope iRiver will have an operating system upgrade soon to fix the problem.Then I will rate it Very Good.

great player but don't believe it plays wmv files
I was looking for a player that could play my huge library of .wmv format TV shows (I have 200GB of them) and according to the Amazon review here I would have been mislead into buying this product.

Good carry around flash and video light combo
Yes, this flash light does drain your battery. That's why you need to use a high capacity battery with this flash.Not sure why the previous reviewer said that this flash messed up his camera battery.I did not experience this problem.
Don't walk blindly into this light
I picked up this light a few months back for my Sony VX2000 (which captures both digital and still images).While the range of the light was moderate for video, it worked reasonably well for nearby photos in the dark.It seemed to drain my battery rather quickly.That was to be expected...but it was even faster than I thought before the battery light would start blinking.Read more

Nice product esp in the price range.You will still need to buy adapter for Canon.Get the nice Tiffen adapter made for a60, 70, 75 & 80.IT accepts 37mm, this will fit perfect. Great 2x telephoto lens with only a few problems
I recently bought this telephoto lens to use with my powershot A70. It works great at the last 2 zoom levels. At the first few zoom levels there is a little bit of picture corruption but that is a problem with all telephoto lens, not just this one. The only thing I didn't like about this lens is that the front accepts filters in 46mm. I wish it used either 52mm or 37mm. Anyways, that problem can be solved with a keep step up and step down rings. This lens does its job great. It comes with 2 lens caps, a cap for each side of it. Lenmar DLC3L Camera Battery Equivalent to Canon NB3L
I have a Canon SD-550.This battery is works perfect with it.I've noticed no difference in charge time and usage when compare with the original manufacterer one.Except the price is a lot lower.

great performance--until it got too hot and fried my camera
After reading the many good reviews here, I too bought the Lenmar battery to act as a second battery for my Canon digital camera.I was totally pleased with the excellent performance as many others have noted.The only difference I noticed between the Lenmar and OEM battery was that with lengthy continuous shooting with the LCD screen on the camera case got significantly hotter with the Lenmar battery that with the OEM.This was not a problem until I was shooting on a 101 degree day (with the Lenmar battery in) and suddenly the screen went black.I could view previously taken pictures (LCD OK) but any new photo I tried to take was black. I read later in the manual the upper operating temperature of the camera is 104 degrees.Once the camera cooled it worked again for a while, but the black photo problem continued intermittenly for a few weeks then the camera completely stopped taking photos, no matter what.So, was it the Lenmar battery's extra heat generation pushing the camera over its temperature limit and damaging the circuitry?Would it have happened if the cooler running OEM battery was installed on the hot day?I can't say for sure, but if you use a Lenmar battery I would be careful about operating it on a very hot 100 degree day (e.g. use the viewfinder, not the LCD since that generates heat, or turn the camera off a lot to cool down between shots).

Cheap and powerful
What can I say? It fits in place of the overpriced Canon NB3L battery for my SD500 and lasts longer than the OEM battery. The quality of the battery on the external is very good. No sloppy glued edges or ill-fitting parts. The battery works very well in the camera and lasts longer by one hundred or so shots. I use a gig card so I tend to shot alot at once. Even with the flash the battery life is comparable to the Canon or even longer. I bought two instead of a single Canon battery and I have not been dissappointed. ... Read more

Great value for a cheap tripod
This is a great value for the price.If you're unsure whether you even need a tripod, or you can't justify buying a "good" one for your occasional use, this is the one to get.It's great for indoor use with any compact camera, and the quick release is terrific for switching between posed tripod shots and candids at an event.It's definitely usable for light outdoor use as well, but it's not very stable in even a light wind, and it can be a nuisance to adjust on unlevel surfaces.

Love this wonderful Tripod, especially since I do not have my very own photographer. It has 3 or 4 adjustable heights, every angle imaginable, and adapts to both my cameras perfectly. It is LIGHT and easy to carry, and I thought it was very reasonably priced. Thank you, I highly recommend it!! :)

A signal in my Sony camcorder said the head needed to be cleaned. So I used this head cleaner and the warning went away. It should work as it's a Sony head cleaner.

Couldn't find it anyplace
I have a VHS and CD machine and all my old tapes from my old camera are VHS, so I really need this adapter. Best Buy had a cheap copy that I bought and it didn't work at all...Bernies didn't have it or know where to purchase one. I then thought of Amazon and was delighted to find just what I wanted shippped directly to my house and it worked just the way the old one did....just remember to take the battery out if you don't plan on using it for a while....that's what happened to me and the battery caroded in the battery compartment.....

Does what it's supposed to.
This adapter is much better than the ones which don't take a battery.The difference is the other type manually pulls out the tape with a set of rollers when it's closed, and that can screw the tape up. The battery model I believe is also better at rewinding, the manual ones always drag down my VCR when I've tried it in the adapter.
It is not for 8mm tapes.
I am looking for 8mm tapes' VHS adaptor, but it does not fit into the VHS C Adaptor, it only accepts VHS C tapes, which now I know, and how a common user can figure out the difference from a computer monitor.The description for the type of tape it is made for has to be more specific.VHS C and 8mm tapes look similar by the picture shown.I can not find a 8mm tape VHS adaptor in the marketplace, it has to be reproduced from a camcorder or a VHS tape copy. ... works as advertised
I purchased this polarizing filter for my Sony HC96.The Sony store at the mall did not have it in stock and the Sony website was also out of stock.Either it's a popular item or Sony didn't produce a large volume of it.Anyway, it took Amazon at least a couple of weeks to ship it.I took the filter on my trip to Yosemite.It did just as advertised --- made the sky more blue and removed light reflections from glass windows and water surfaces.If you want to keep the reflections for visual effect, you just have to rotate the lens out of the effective meridian.The protective lens that came with the filter was handy, too.At first, I didn't know why I would need it because I justed wanted a polarizing filter.It turns out that it's good for protecting the camera lens from wind/dust and water spray from the waterfalls when the polarizing filter is off the camera.It seems pricy ($75), maybe because it's a Sony or because it's not a popular item.I'd say it's not useful for most occasions, esp. indoors.It's a luxury item for outdoor shots as a hobby. ... I only wish I had read the previous review before I bought this item.I too was trying to convert my Hi8 tapes to digital format using the pass-through on my Sony MiniDV handycam.I bought this way-too-expensive cable, mostly because it was the only option available.It seems ridiculous to me that a cable should cost as much as a low-end disk drive or graphics card, considering the technology involved in those devices.
S video cable works only 1-way
I bought it specifically to dub my Sony Hi8 tapes to PC in AVI foramt, through my Sony DV camcorder and docking station. Unfortunately, the S video cable is defective although the yellow video cable works. Strangely enough, Sony A/V -> S video still works. The reverse (i.e., S video -> Sony A/V) doesn't.

Awesome!
It's a great complement to your camera. It charges the battery in less amount of time than charging it w/ the camera. Plus it frees up your camera. No downtime on taking photos!

This little charger is a "must have" for DSC-R1 owners!
Forget the "brick" and the AC cord!Just get one of these compact chargers and an extra battery and your DSC-R1 will never be out of power.I carry a charged battery in my gear bag attached to the little charger and swap and recharge as needed.
