3-0 out of 5 stars Good piece for the price.
Used to photograph a wedding last weekend. It makes all the difference in stabilizing my shaky hands.Easy to use and sensible. The tilt head is a little awkward.Got this after returning one from Best buy that had pull out/collasible bottom three tele's.This one much more stable although I like the ball adjust on top of the other better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product -If I knew then what I know now, I would definitely buy it.
This monopod does a great job for my camera. You have the quick, easy-off, it attatches to your camera by a screw, and you can press the button on the side of the monopod and just slide your camera right off of it quickly. I wanted a nice, inexpensive monopod for my new zoom lense. I have a Canon 35mm, and I recently purchased a 75-300 zoom lense for it, and I needed a monopod to stabilize the shoot. If I knew then what I know now, I would buy it again. Nice product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very light, portable, cheap but the manufacturer quality is bad.
The minute I took the monopod out of cover it broke. The mounting head fell apart from the leg. The glue they use is very bad. I didn't return the product because I think the replacement would be the same quality and it was not worth the affords. I just fixed it myself. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Canon Monopod 100 for SLR Cameras & Lens
Solid design, quick and easy to adj height. Great way to steady camera. Doubles as walking stick.

5-0 out of 5 stars This monopod is just right for the job
I gave this monopod to my boyfriend, as a gift, and it's been perfect for his use.He videotapes his kids's baseball and softball games, and was tired of holding the camcorder for so long.He didn't want to deal with a bulky tripod when he was getting up and down, so a monopod seemed like a great idea.He has LOVED it!!He says it keeps the camera very steady and it's very easy to change the height so he can use it sitting or standing. He's no professional, but he uses his camcorder a lot, and he'll be happily using the monopod for a long time!

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent addition to your camera support equipment.
Bogen/Manfrotto products are high quality professional gear and this monopod is no exception. The monopod is an important addition to every photographer's support equipment.Next to the tripod, the monopod is the best way to brace a camera when space is limited, or where weight may be a concern.
4-0 out of 5 stars A good start
Not bad for a monopod, but legs could be secured better when stowed. It tends to rattle, so you'll have to use rubber bands to subdue the clunkiness.A shorter overall length, sturdier legs, and lighter weight would be ideal.Otherwise, a great device for not having to carry a much bulkier tripod.I highly recommend it if you're in the market for a high-end monopod. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars One leg is better than three
I enjoy a good tripod as much as the next guy, but when I go to the zoo or another place where I need to steady the camera for a zoom shot relatively quickly, the tripod takes too long to set up.I can't afford a VR lens, so instead I talked with photographers in my area and they all recomended getting a monopod.I looked around and this was the best deal in terms of both price and performance.
5-0 out of 5 stars Vanguard MP-15 Lightweight Monopod
very good construction. folds compactly to fit in carry on bag.head action is smooth and has adjustable tension for long telephoto or wide angle lenses. The monopod is great for when a tripod takes to long to set up and is to cumberson to follow the action.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not so bad for the money
I think $32 is a decent price to pay for this.I accidentally ordered the Canon monopod for the same price, but I have not recived it yet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied with the product.
The monopod is definitely of high quality. It doesn't bend under the weight of a camera body with a heavy lens.I recommend this item for its price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great monopod
I have been using this monopod for years. It is especially helpful when doing video work as it can be used in a crowded room, like a wedding reception, without getting under foot. I have also used it to hold the camera over 12' to look down at the center of a group. It also helps counterbalance the camera as you move about. If you need an extremely stable camera platform, without the large tripod footprint, get this monopod.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
A little heavy for what it is desinged for, but that's because it is built like a tank. Compared to other similar items, it may be 2x the price but it is 10x the quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice monopod
Just rec'd yesterday so haven't shot with it yet but put my camera on it and it's sturdy - and light. The fine-height adjustment is nice - basically two buttons; one you push to adjust the height by inches - up to about 4.5" (w/o having to touch a leg lock), the other button locks it once you've decided on a height. All of the locks and knobs are fairly large so they're easy to manipulate (and I have small hands). The pan head is a good size and tilts 90 degrees - easier to attach this shoe to my camera than the one with my tripod (don't need a coin for this one).I have a Minolta Maxxum 5D just to give you an idea of the size/weight of the camera I use.Nicely made monopod for the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Addition to a Travel Kit
Those people who think that the only alternative to hand-held photography is a tripod really should check out a monopod - and the Pro Pod 381 is one of the very best alternatives. Since I received mine, I can already tell it is going to make a whopping big difference in the quality of my photography, especially with long lenes such as my 80-200/f2.8.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first (not-so-great) unipod
EDIT (2006-03-26):
5-0 out of 5 stars Lightweight, Cost Effective Monopod
This monopod is built sturdy and is very cost effective. At a fraction of the price of other monopods, this one is well worth the price. The three section extensions of the leg seem to be made of aluminum or another hard metal, and are very stiff to give good support. The last piece of the leg can get wobbly at times, but this is expected since it is the most skinny of all the sections. The quick locks on the legs are made of plastic but are built well. They clamp strong and the legs cannot move once clamped into place. The bottom piece is plastic, not rubber, but is threaded and can be removed to replace with whatever type of material you would like.I would have preferred rubber, but this doesn't affect much for me.The handle is made of a soft cushion material which is angled to fit nicely in the grip of your hand. The wrist strap seems to get in the way most of the time for me so I took it off.Folds down to a relatively decent length for travel purposes.Highly recommended for a cheap price!

5-0 out of 5 stars lightweight and it locks tight
This is a very nice accessory to have.As someone else said, a monopod is NOT supposed to stand on its own.You still hold the camera and it's meant to support it and reduce shake.I still use my tripod more, but for things like sports, plays, etc. where you really can't use a tripod, this comes in handy. You also should consider a head for it.I have a cheap Bogen 3232 that allows you to more easily mount the camera AND allows you to rotate 90 degrees in a jiffy. The only problem I have with it is that the sections sometimes get jammed and they are hard to pull out. This doesn't happen all the time, but does sometimes. But it's so cheap it doesn't matter. Also, make sure you extend starting with the top sections on down. This makes it more stable. That applies to all monopods, not just this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable, light and tall
I tried out this monopod in a store and was impressed with it immediately for several reasons. It's light! It's short when compressed and TALL when pulled out. I'm 6' 1" and it puts my camera at my eye level when fully extended. When you hold it and prod at it in person, you can tell that this is a quality product.
5-0 out of 5 stars Super sturdy!
Bought this monopod last week. Excellent construction. Weight is perfect, balance is perfect. Was able to take super clear 3 second exposures. Extends tall enough where I can look straight into the viewfinder on my Canon 300D (I'm 5'9"). It's light enough to carry in hand for a 4 hour hike, and heavy enough to beat the tar out of anyone trying to steal my gear! ... Read more
