Editorial Review

The C800 Advantix camera from Kodak is an Advanced Photo System camera with point-and-shoot simplicity. It features a 27-80mm motorized zoom lens and infrared autofocusing, letting you snap photos from 2 feet and beyond.A pop-up flash fires automatically in low-light situations and fires away from the lens, reducing red-eye.Auto close prevents washout photos, and multibeam focusing keeps your subject in focus when taking wide-angle pictures. The flash folds down when the camera is off and serves as a protective lens cap.Read more

Features

  • 27-80mm motorized zoom lens brings the subject 3 times closer
  • Automatic flip-up flash fires in low-light situations and powers down flash intensity for close shots
  • Film-door safety interlock prevents accidental fogging
  • Self-timer lets you get into the picture
  • Midroll film change

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful camera!
I bought this camera over three years ago, and it never once failed me.It has several useful features, like portrait mode, red-eye reduction (though that's pretty standard in a camera nowadays, it seems), and the ability to take different sizes of pictures.I found the panoramic size to be especially nice.If you plan to take a lot of pictures at night, expect to receive clear, bright results with the camera's night mode.I took a picture in the pitch dark using night mode, and it looks as though the picture was taken in daylight! The self-timer and various flash modes are great, too. Moreover, the camera is very easy to use--once you read the manual, that is.However, one thing to keep in mind is that Advantix film is usually more expensive than regular 35 mm film.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera!
Bought this camera when I thought I was going on a trip to Peru. The trip fell through, but I've had lots of fun with the camera since.I usually take it with me everywhere, just in case I spot something interesting to take photos of.Most recently, the camera has gone snowshoeing with me-I really appreciated the drop-in loading when trying to perform this operation while wearing gloves.Recently developed my first roll of film, and am very impressed with the quality of the pictures, especially the panoramic shots.Be warned, however, developing panoramic shots is expensive...I think I had to pay .90 per panoramic shot, which can add up quickly. However, in exchange, I have a number of gorgeous pictures to admire.Overall, I like the ease of use of this camera, although I wish that the tiny buttons were bigger-its harder than it looks to press a button with the "control button acuator" (to quote Kodak) than you would think.A small ergonomic inconvienience to pay for nice pictures.I'm planning to take it with me when I actually DO make it to Peru-maybe next year!:) Ciao.

4-0 out of 5 stars Canon Elph 370Z
Small camera, very slimlined and easy to carry.I purchased refurbished and everything is working perfectly. I only wish the zoom was a little stronger, but overall an excellent camera.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great camera but beware of the "H"!
I bought this camera a little over 3 years ago when I was expecting my first baby.As you can imagine, I have taken a bunch of photos since then. This camera is easy to use and takes beautiful photographs.
4-0 out of 5 stars This camera is well worth repairing
I bought the Canon Elph 370Z in 2000. After 3 years of heavy use the camera had to go in for servicing last summer because an error message (H) had appeared in the LED.The cost for repairs was about 1/3 of the original price.Several months later the same thing reoccurred and Canon fixed it free of charge. This is the first camera that I've ever had repaired. All my previous cameras have also eventually broke down from use. But this is the only one that I liked enough to have fixed.Photo quality is excellent considering the size of the camera, plus the convenience of APS. The quality of the camera is very good, too. ... Editorial Review

The Advanced Photo System (APS) has inspired new levels of innovation in the point-and-shoot camera category. Though late to the game in bringing APS cameras to market, Olympus more than makes up for its tardiness with the Newpic Zoom 90. What really sets APS cameras apart from their 35mm cousins is ease of use. And the Newpic Zoom 90 is one of the easiest APS point-and-shoot cameras around. The camera has a 30-90mm zoom lens (equivalent to a 38-115mm lens in the 35mm format) with an active autofocus system; the focus lock lets you zero in on subjects that are outside the autofocus range. The Newpic Zoom 90 has six flash modes, including red-eye reduction and fill. As with most APS cameras, film loading is practically idiot-proof and pictures can be formatted in three sizes: Classic (C--4 inches by 6 inches); HDTV (H--4 inches by 7 inches), and Panoramic (P--3.5 inches by 10 inches). The Newpic Zoom 90 includes a self-timer, a diopter viewfinder adjustment, which is important to those who are nearsighted or farsighted, and a time-date stamp function. Straightforward and easy to use, the Newpic Zoom 90 is a great way to get started in APS photography. Read more

  • Fully automatic focus and exposure control make shooting a snap
  • Film winds and rewinds automatically
  • Push-button controls let you zoom in or out to get composition just right

5-0 out of 5 stars Newpic 90 does the job!
This is a great camera for beginners and shutterbugs who don't have the patience to deal with professional photographic equipment. The APS features are fantastic giving you the ability to capture the entire Harbor Bridge on panoramic, and change film instantly while hanging from a ski lift without concern for film exposure or proper placement inside the camera casing. Its zoom lens is quite long compared to other cameras of the same type and price range. My pictures have always come out clear and crisp. Its also very durable and the rubber grip on the side makes it easy to hold unlike other all metal casing cameras.I have even dropped it in a waterfall, and although it is not waterproof and I wouldn't suggest doing it, the camera still worked after the water drained out of it.If you can still get your hands on one of these cameras, go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, Glad I bought it
Very nice camera, good quality and a good price. Pick up a cheap APS book for some pointers and don't forget the batteries -- not included :-( ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Why buy the Leica c11?
This is a GREAT camera! The author is a serious advanced amateur, having two Hasselblads, a 4x5 rail camera, Canon EOS 3, Leica M3, 25+ lenses, etc. Did I mention a Nikon Coolpix 800? So, where does the C11 fit in? NOTHING is as small and light. This camera is about the size of a deck or cards! The lens is great for the 4x6 prints (if I want 16x20, there are better choices). But it is great for snapshots! Why is it better than the Coolpix? Better lens resolution AND the batteries aren't always dead!Read more

Unlike most other compact zoom cameras that use a single infrared beamfor autofocusing, the Minolta Vectis 3000 has three precisely aligned LED beamsand over 400 focusing steps to sense your subject, and measure the distancebetween it and the camera. This means that you get crisp, in-focus shotsregardless of the lighting situation. 5-0 out of 5 stars Minolta Camera
This is such a great camera-I was a disposable camera user for many years until I got this camera. Not too technical and takes great pix! It will display the date if you choose, you can make the picture panaramic if you like or frame it! It has a nice case that can be worn on your belt-and the best part-it fits in my purse :)

5-0 out of 5 stars BUYING A SECOND ONE

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera for a buck...
I try to stay away from APS in general. It was a gift from me for my mom since she wanted small easy camera with an average zoom. It's a simple design with suprisingly good picture quality. Automatic flash does the great job in mixed lighting environment. Pictures are sharp and crisp. Color saturation is outstanding. Even if APS film is limited and negative size is smaller than regular 35mm film I was really amazed by the quality. My mom who is not the most technical person had no problems operating the controls or loading the camera. It was a piece of cake for her in no time. Also very nice weatherproof box that came with the camera protected the piece in the rain. Leica did a really nice job and even if the camera is little bigger than elphs and nikon nuvis it is worth every penny. 5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun. And looks stylish.
When I saw this camera for the first time I was probably the victim of irrational thought processes, seduced by the stylish minimalism and the Leica Logo of course. 5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun. And looks stylish.
