It broke the 2nd day!
I read the earlier review but bought it anyway-- it was worth the risk, and it attached fine for me. Unfortunately, the stick-on cap-keeper lost its stickiness and the cap dropped the first time I took it anywhere. Maybe it was just old. It's a great idea -- too bad it didn't work.

not helpful if you have anything but a very short lens

Lots of fun
This is great for those people who miss the selective focus aspects of the 4x5, but compact and easy enough to use on your digital or 35mm. I think the price is a little high for what you get, but that's not too uncommon these days.... Could not be happier with this Sigma Lense
I bought this lense for my new Canon 20D because I did not want to spend $1200 on the Canon equivalent and was not enthusiastic about walking around with the white "you must be a professional photographer" Canon lense. I could not be happier with its performance. I have used it indoors at volleyball tournaments and dance competitions (very low light), and outdoors at baseball games. I've even seen it on the official photographer's camera at some events! I did end up buying a monopod because it is not the lightest lense, but what wonderful pictures it has produced. Some have even commented that my photos are better than the professional ones offered at the event.
Don't be tempted by the low price
I made the mistake of trying to save money when I switched from Nikon to Canon.I bought this and Sigma's 17-35 f/2.8-4 DG EX while building my new system.I ended up selling my Sigma lenses to buy a Canon 17-40 f/4 L and a Canon 70-200 f/2.8 L lens.Sigma lenses are very tempting because they cost much less then Canon or Nikon lenses.Unfortunately they are cheaper for a reason.The images produced are much softer, the lens itself is not as sturdy, and it doesn't focus as fast.If you have to go bargain basement they are not that bad.They are really just expensive consumer lenses not cheap pro lenses.If you are trying to work as a professional you have to go with brand name lenses.They don't cost more just because of the name on the lens, there are major performance benefits.

I'm an advanced amateur photographer, with over 40 years of 35mm experience. A Coolpix 5700 entered my life last Christmas.After about 6 months experience with the base camera, there was no hesitation in ordering the wide angle converter.The only shortcoming of the base camera was its lack of w/a capability.The telephoto capability of the camera should be sufficient for most users, those requiring the outer limits of telephoto may want to consider the tele converter.Let me tell you first, this lens weighs a bunch and is BIG!But it works great!I shoot mostly candids and wedding type photos and find this lens indispensable.Images are typically Nikon razor sharp.On my Coolpix 5700, it provides super sharp photos in auto mode, without the camera knowing a w/a lens is attached. At user setting 2 on my camera, with a Vivitar 285 flash attached, and the camera knowing there is a w/a lens on board, I've made some remarkable shots.IMHO, this converter makes my camera complete - BUY IT! ... Awful lens
I bought EOS 20D and took this lens as well as my camera was without a lens. Most of the pictures shot with this lens are pretty blury. Even some of them when the flash was enabled were strange. Other times I managed to get a good picture or two. All in all, I am quite unhappy with this lens. Avoid it at all cost.

spend a bit more and buy the 3.5-4.5
For $100 more, buy the 28-105mm 3.5-4.5 version.results are far better.This lens (4-5.6) is not quite there. don't even buy it.

A bad lens rendered irrelevant by the faster version.
There's not much to say that hasn't been covered by the other reviews; this is a bad lens.If it were considerably cheaper it would be attractive for really low-budget amateurs. At the $150 price point, the performance shortcomings do not justify the cost.

It does what it says but....
I bought this lens for a Nikon D50 SLR using a 19-35mm Tokina lens.I'd seen an on-line test using exactly the same combination so I thought I was getting a bargain---15mm on the wide end.The lens works, but in several of my pictures, pretty much any outside with bright light, the edges are horribly distorted and blurred.Indoor shots were somewhat more acceptable.Sure, I could just crop them, but that defeats the purpose of the wide angle in the first place. I tried it also on my Minolta a200 and got the same results.I don't know if my cameras and the adapter were a bad fit; after all it is made just for the E10, but I wasn't happy with it.
Get an external flash first !!!
The 0.8x may not sound like much, but it is significant.I find myself using this teleconverter more often than not, especially for indoors.Unlike the 1.45x and 3.0x teleconverters, you can actually use most of the main lense zoom adjustment with this teleconverter lensestill on the camera (the 1.45x and 3.0x teleconverter will give you a vignette effect unless you are at maximum zoom). Very nice stuff.
I believe this lens is made specifically for the Camedia E-10.It's threads have a 62mm diameter that attaches to the E-10 without an adapter.This is really an impressive piece of glass for the money - and it's fully coated.So large, it hardly reduces the speed of the base lens, and yet not so heavy that it disturbs the overall balance of the camera while it's on.I've used many extension lenses with other cameras and this rates among the best.Most extenders are really not worth bothering with because of the distortions they add.Using this extender with the E-10 is like using a 28mm lens on a 35mm format camera.Read more

Adaptor Ring
The adaptor ring is basically a metallic cylinder with machined threads at each end.In quantity, material and labor are probably less than $1.00.With S&H, the thing cost about $28.While I understand that slow moving items have inventory costs, etc., etc., it still irks me to pay "avoided cost" rather than "actual cost with a reasonable profit".
