5-0 out of 5 stars Canon DC100
I Love this camcorder. This is the third camcorder I have had.The first being the humongus VHS.I had to rest it on my shoulder to use it.The second was a VHS-C which was about half the size of the first. This one is so small and compact, I can carry it in my pants pocket. It takes excellent video and I like the review screen where I can pick out the video I want to watch. My Daughter likes it so much, she is looking to buy one also. Canon rules.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camcorder
I wanted to buy a camcorder that records with high quality. This camcorder does just that...Wonderful quality and easy to use controls makes it very user friendly....Also finalazing the video to dvd takes just 2 minutes which is good.
5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST
This is the machine you have been waiting for.It is so easy to use.It will do almost anything you can imagine in terms of still photography. It is as if you have the best digital compact camera.
5-0 out of 5 stars Well satisfied customer!
I've done my web research and it pointed me to buy the Canon DC40 among other dvd-camcorders in market. It was such an amazing experience using it to capture moments during my nephew's birthday party. The still shots were absolutely fantastic! The video was like no other...it was very clear and sharp. You may want to tweak the settings to get that film look versus the homevideo look on your video shots. Also, tweak the stills settings as well to get that SLR-like shots.I love this product and I highly recommend this to all of you who are planning on purchasing a dvd-camcorder.Cheers! -- Joel Pelayo ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great DVD Camcorder
I reviewed many DVD camcorders over a 4-5 month period and feel this was the best choice. I almost purchased the Sony DVD405, but color was one of the first priorities on my list of wants with this new camcorder. Although the Sony has a better chip, the fact is that the Panasonic, with 3 chips, according to many reviews I had read had better color. The ease of use is nice also. Finalizing DVD's takes only a few minutes and not really a big deal, my only issue so far is the fade control which requires the operator to select it via the joystick control each time you want to use it. Selecting this control while recording requires a steady hand so that the camera does not shake. None the less, it puts my eleven year old, 8mm camcorder to shame. Love taking videos again.

3-0 out of 5 stars Help getting it onto your computer
I was completely floored by what it took to get the g-d clips onto the computer, too. It took some careful reading and searching around the web, but now I can do it. (It still is not particularly convenient.) I am on an iMac G5.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great camcorder -- just watch out for slow start-up times
This is my first DVD camcorder and I absolutely love it!It's also my first 3-chip video camcorder. The image quality is just really good, like the other guys said. The machine is also apiece of cake to use.I e-mailed "gadgester" and he recommended TDK 8.cm dvd-r blanks from amazon, so I bought them and now I just pop one in and go!No formatting needed.Finalization in the camcorder is needed to make the dvd-r compatable with my Sony dvd player at home as well as my Thinkpad.

2-0 out of 5 stars Finished DVDs will NOT play in most DVD players
One word of advice in buying - Don't
5-0 out of 5 stars Good camera for the money
We purchased the Panasonic VDR-D100 as our first video camera after the birth of our daughter. We wanted the ability to record directly to DVD, playback on our DVD player and be able to edit on our computer. Just as the last reviewer stated; getting the DVD-RW discs to recognize on our computer was the main problem. We wanted to be able to do this so we could do the simple editing functions like dividing and combining on the camera, but then embellish a little with transition shots and cleaning up the video on our computer. We also wanted to upload the video through YouTube online to our blog.
4-0 out of 5 stars From camera to DVD is great and serves its purpose for the price
I did a lot of research before buying this camera. We could have bought a higher quality digital camcorder for less or higher quality MiniDV camcorder for the same price. What led to our final decision to purchase this camcorder was the fact we could record straight to a 8cm DVD-R, finalize the disc on the camcorder, and play it directly on our DVD player or DVD-ROM player on our computer. We didn't want to deal with sticking cables and wires into the TV, electrical outlet, and camera to playback footage. And we also didn't want to deal with the cost and trouble of transferring footage onto DVDs to keep in our video library for the future.

1-0 out of 5 stars not happy
was unable to fully use single use disk, after using camera a few minutes was unable to restart to use it again, maybe I should have stayed with a JVC??

3-0 out of 5 stars DZ-BX35A cons
I am not impressed with picture quality as the picture quality is not as detailed/clear as the mini-dv camera I had been using simply because this is a compressed MPEG format verses the AVI on the mini-DV cameras. The advertising boasts of the abity to shoot video in the 16.9 wide screen format but you do not find out untill later that this option is only available in the 30 minute record mode and not the 60 minute mode. Then there is the issue that you can only finalize a disk and do repair file recovery ONLY while the camera is operating on AC. I had planned on shooting a dvd out in the field where there is no AC and being able to complete a disc without finding an AC outlet before completing the task. The standard battery that comes with the camera that I bought is good for about 30 minutes of normal recording and is a drawback, so get the larger amperage battery if you want to use the camera for the 60 minute low resolution record mode.
4-0 out of 5 stars No Major Problems So Far
I waited for awhile before writing a review of this camcorder because I felt that it wouldn't be fair to use it once and then write a review based on that single experience.Instead, I've used the camera on a number of occasions since Easter. These included Easter egg hunts, birthday parties, pool parties, and general video work just to test it out.So far I've had no problems with the camera.

Extremely easy to use.Price on Amazon was terrific vs. Circuit City Offering.Like the way you can view immediately in the DVD player.Picture quality in sunny conditions is not good and grainy digitial picture taking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Coolest and smallest DVD camcorder in the market!
I'd like to share the reasons why I bought this camera and strongly recommend it:
2-0 out of 5 stars I dont get it
If you are looking for a still shot digital camera ok.. but why buy this monster for that? I have a T1 that does the trick there and gives 5MP.

all i have to say:
5-0 out of 5 stars I actually got a scdc163 but amazon doesnt have it
ive been saving up for the scdc163 for a long time and when i got it i was very satisfied w/ it. it has very good quility and outstanding zoom. its easy to use and is compact. its so compact that my hands can easly hold it,and im 11! its cool lookin! unlike other mini dvd camcorders. ive had no problems w/ it other then to wait for it to charge to try it out when i first got it.

4-0 out of 5 stars good camcorder
I read these reviews after i had purchased this camera. I was very afraid of the results. After a weekend of use i could not find a reason to hate the camera. I was able to finalize and unfinalize my dvd-rw many times during testing without any issues. I will say in low light it does not record as well, you can play with the settings and find what works best, this is a issue with all or most cameras. Anyone with issues can also try the firmware upgrade with fixes compatibly issues with DVD types (perhaps the reason the 1st 2 reviews were not +) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars If you want to record home movies directly to dvd on a budget
You are not going to get every option avaliable with this camera! But then again your not paying for for every option either! Just take the time to reaserch your needs and what your budget is. Personally I wanted to record family movies directly to DVD and convert my old HI8 and VHS video to dvd. This camera does this with no problem in fact really easy. If you want to edit on a computer which I also do with this camera as I did with my old HI8 you can purchase an external video input hub that connects through a usb port for around $30 but you can edit on the camera just the same. I compare the camera in terms of cars - Yes there are cadilacs but everyone can't afford to own one or don't feel the need to have the most expensive car on the lot (that will be outdated in a few years) A Buik is a nice ride to and is 10K less!

3-0 out of 5 stars There isno "firewire " with this one
Without purchasing another piece of hardware ,you cannot record to dvd via PC with this little number. All the other features are great but it's like traveling 500 ft and stopping short 1 foot from the destination .WTF!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars make sure you have a multi formatDVD system if you use the RAM discs...
i have had this unit for over a month (summer 2005), took it on a trip to Vegas and even in very high ambient heat there, it has performed flawlessly. also used both mini DVD-R (best general choice for most people) but also used and recorded to the mini DVD-RAM discs which come in those nice protective case cartridges.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, Newest technology in the market
i like this camcorder because of 2 options that no other camcorder has.
2-0 out of 5 stars Only good for outdoor recording
This camcorder is only good for outdoor recording. In indoor recording or recording in little bit low light, picture quality is very bad. I tried to record in my living room where I have two 100 watt bulbs but recorded picture was very blurred. In outdoor recording in a sunny day, picture quality is quite good with sharp colors. Unless have no need to edit. This is completely incompatable with non-sony software.
1-0 out of 5 stars with sony the problem starts when you have a problem
we were given this $900 recorder right after the birth of our child so we got some great movies of him.At 6 months we got a format error on display screen and weren't able to discharge dvd.called sony troubleshooting and not very helpful staff read from a manual which didnt apply to our model, called 3 times each time told warranty ran out(3months) and to send it to them for $250 they would look at it.so now i have a camcorder that doesnt work and a company that doesnt stand behind its product

5-0 out of 5 stars Why all the trouble reviews? We love ours.
We have had one a few years now, our first video camera dvd. It was easy to setup, try out and plug into the tv or pop in the dvd and see what we took. We love the features it comes with and the editing part we didn't really have much trouble once we read the instructions. I'm sure if you mess around with it without reading the instructions it would be confusing. But once you know what your doing, your fine. We have used this at home as well as on numerous trips over the years. We had no problems or flaws with sony or the camcorder. Original batteries are still working fine and recharging. We have two batteries we carry with us as well as extra dvd's as they do fill up fast; but what a better way to store your memories! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This camera stinks
I got this camera for my birthday and recorded some very important footage of my daughters graduation.I have not been able to transfer the movies to either another disc or my computer since. The software provided gives me nothing but error messages and Canon says it is a Roxio issue and Roxio won't even talk to you without a $40 technical support fee.I have to return the camera and I am stuck with a disc that I can only watch on the camera which I will no longer have. This camera is the worst camera I have ever owned.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good Camera, Crappy Software
This is a nice little camera, and the video quality is excellent. However, I cannot recommend it because the video editing software is from Roxio.Canon clearly states that they do not provide product support for the software.Roxio also avoids supporting the software - if you have a problem, they will allow you to call tech support for $40, or they will kindly sell you an upgrade for $39.95.I have been trying, unsuccessfully, for 6 weeks to get an unlock code from them to allow me to use the software. For some reason, when I installed the software and registered it as instructed, I never received back an unlock code, so the software is useless.Roxio obviously made a piggyback deal with Canon in order to force people into buying their "upgraded" product.Roxio simply ignores e-mails.

3-0 out of 5 stars Heat up
The camera does heat up when attached to the charger.I complained to Cannon support about the camera getting hot enough to the point that you cannot touch it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Opening Screen Annoyance
Every time I turn on the DCR-DVD92 if I'm not using a Sony dvd I get a annoying message asking me to use Sony dvd's. This message lasts for about 15 seconds and blocks the entire lcd screen and view finder. If I'm trying to make a quick shot I can forget it.This message is something that Sony should have left off.I feel it's simply an attempt to make you buy Sony dvd's.I have found viewing still pictures also to be a problem.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy If You Want To Use with a Computer
When I bought this from Wal-mart the salesman said I could use it with my computer. He was wrong. There is no way to copy or edit the recordings.Unfortunately, I didn't try to use it with a computer until several months after buying it so I can't return the camcorder.I FEEL CHEATED!

5-0 out of 5 stars Dr. Paul Gervais
This is certainly a system ofhighest quality! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sony's Handycam to anyone. It's easy to use and quickly converts to outstanding snapshots in time. Both picture and sound are fantastic! Most of all, the unit is user friendly. Doctor's don't have a whole lot of time to read manuals. Regardless, Sony came through once more!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this camcorder
I bought this last year with extended warranty as I have kids at home. I bet they tried their best to damage the camcorder but with no luck. That's about robustness.
5-0 out of 5 stars For those looking to buy the cheapest dvd-r.....
Don't get Memorex dvd-r!I know people buy Memorex for its price. It well known Memorex doesn't work well with any burners.Go with Sony, Verbatim, Fuji, or TDK even though you pay a bit more. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice gadget - horrible software support.
The unit itself is well designed. The quality of video is fair, at least for such a compact unit. Photos are near worthless due to horrible quality. My cell phone has far superior images.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Multi-Tasking Product
The Panasonic D-snap, model SV-AV50, is a great product. The D-snap can be used for many different tasks. It is a digital camera, camcorder, mp3 player, and voice recorder. The D-snap is small and portable. The D-snap is so small that it can fit into your pocket easily. The Panasonic D-snap is easy to recharge the batteries.
1-0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor ('Buyer Beware')
This camera is a piece of crap.

1-0 out of 5 stars VERY DISAPPOINTED
I bought this as a gift to my husband before he was deployed to iraq so that we could take dvd's of the children for him to watch. The manual is useless. It is very vague and difficult to follow in most areas. Using the camcorder was easy but when we went to use it with the PC we had all kinds of trouble. The usb cable is really nonfunctional. Panasonic reccomends that you back up your discs to pc...we couldnt even get the hardware to work right on our pc (the tower is brand new) and after calling tech support for help..well..he gave up too and we lost all of the video in the process. (so my husband went to Iraq with just pictures and a major let down.)Then we couldnt uninstall the hardware that was installed improperly and tech support could not help.I am so disappointed with this product that I am returning it to the store where i bought it and trying a different brand.
4-0 out of 5 stars Works great for me
I've had this camera for a few weeks now and have filmed over 10 hours without any problem.I film a lot of kid's sports (football, sailing, etc.) and the picture quality is excellent.I went with the Panasonic over the Sony because of the 18x optical zoom and I just don't think that the Sony name is not what it used to be.The last two Sony products I've bought had problems (computer is a piece of junk and the camcorder's viewfinder stopped working after a year).
1-0 out of 5 stars Better off with tape
Great idea but in practice this camera doesn't live up to expectations. The DVA-RAM re-recordable media is fairly esoteric, expensive and not compatible with most DVD readers. The other recoding media;DVD-R,has a hitch - after you record your 30 minutes of video, the disc needs to be "finalized" before it can be replayed in a DVD player. This takes at least 7minutes.You can't use the camera during this time and it must be plugged into its AC adapter. If "finalization" fails, you've lost all of your video on that DVD and it can't be recovered.Just happened to me so I thought I'd share the experience with others. At present, miniDV tape seems like a safer and more reliable option. This particular camera would only be useful to people who already own a device that can read 8cm DVD-RAM discs and copy them to other media. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Very Difficult Camera
Very disgusted with this cameara. Hitachi's web site said this camera had a built in flash, the unit does not have one.I got constant disc error when using various diss. They have 4 formats and is it extremely difficult to figure out which one to use and when.Once you start to record on a disc, if you get a disc error the data is lost and the disc is ruined. To get rid of disc error you need to take out disc, you can not finalize to save data because of the error and your precious moments taped are now gone. I returened it and bought a Panasonic Pv-gs300 and had it taping sucessfuly within an hour. Simple to use, great detail in the film

5-0 out of 5 stars Great DVD Camcorder easy to use and fun too
I love it it is very easy to use and compact plus you save money by using dvd rw over and over again. I used it in a Florida vacation and it was great.
