3-0 out of 5 stars When it's good, it's very good...when it's bad, It's pretty bad
I did a lot of research before choosing the Meade CaptureView 8x42 2MP Digital Camera Binocular. This one offers the most for a reasonable price. Unfortunately, the one reason you're probably looking to buy it will be nothing at all like what you were expecting.
1-0 out of 5 stars Bad pictures, bulky to use.
The main reason for buying this camera is to be able to take good pictures from far away. The quality is very poor. The unit is very bulky to carry around your neck. The SD card slot has some block in it. I was not able to even insert an SD card. All in all, not satisfied at all.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money.
The binocs are really nice and sharp, but you can purchase just as good for less.

1-0 out of 5 stars This Product Doesn't Deliver
I have used the Bushnell Trail Scout Pro 2.1 MP for a little over two weeks now and it has been a disappointment. The unithas not produced a single in-focus picture in any of its operational modes.Although not described in the instruction manual, the device appears to use an infra red focusing light and receiver. The 'focusing' time interval is several seconds long before the camera snaps a picture which may suggest that the source/receiver aren't well matched or are underpowered. It may also be that Bushnell is using a single compromise algorithm for both visible and infra red light when focusing - the result of which is that the camera is never in focus.

2-0 out of 5 stars SAD
Internal timer with no controls? No 'OFF' switch. Turn it and take pics...great. As long as you keep taking pics all is well.If you loose track of the 2 minute window..it turns off! RATSNo way to extend the 2 minutes? Looking thru binocs you have no hint (is the camera on or off?)1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - disgusted
Received as a gift, tried first time at a full daylight baseball game.Camera auto-shutoff between pitches makes it impossible to get quick action shots.Difficult to retrieve the photos, due to the poor driver software that locks up your PC, requires disconnecting other USB devices.Defective photos: images have jagged horizontal lines in neon colors bisecting the middle (where the interesting part of the photo should be).The (partial) images below the jagged horizontal lines have incorrect colors - baseball fields are not deep purple!I'm sorry I wasted my time with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not sure I like it yet
I opened the box and installed (or tried to install) the software for this piece of equipment, and found that the software loaded ok, the driver installed properly, but the Tutorial WOULD NOT RUN. I am VERY disappointed in the documentation (instructions for the software and technical info for the camera/binocs)!As another reviewer stated, the thing shuts off after 10 seconds of non-use - a pain in the neck when you are out 'birding' and trying to catch the perfect shot - and that is NOT DOCUMENTED anywhere!Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Get it for the binoculars, not the camera
This product is a great idea, but no manufacturer has been able to combine a great camera with the binoculars. The camera always seems to suffer in comparison.
2-0 out of 5 stars Great binos - dubious camera
I awaited the release of the 3 megapixel model hoping to get some long-range pictures of wildlife on an Alaska trip. The binos are bright and comfortable to use, frankly better than some Nikon's and compact Minolta binos I use.
5-0 out of 5 stars Quality Product
The binoculars are excellent and the video capability is nicely featured. A blinking green light indicates when recordiong in video mode; video action can be stopped frame by frame; and a memory card allows recording of an entire sporting event. The display zoom feature is useful in single picture mode. I am pleased with my VistaPix binoculars. They are a quality product. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Good idea, but poor quality digital pictures.
Unfortunately, what seemed to be such a great combination package turned out to not produce what was promised. Our trip to the Canadian Rockies had some incredible picture opportunities, and seeing the results after returning home was very disappointing. The binocular function was fine, but the only pictures that worked well were those in very bright light. The camera indicated full at 63 pictures, well short of the 160 indicated on the box or the 120 in the description. There was no camera/tv cable as described.Someone will come up with a combination that eguals our separate digital camera and binoculars, but the Celestron is not yet to that point.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Performance !!
This works great indeed if you didn't have a nose. Pics are blurry unless U have VERY bright sunlight, otherwise..dont' take pics. Not what I expected. 1-0 out of 5 stars Great idea but poor performance !!
As binoculars, it focuses fine but the only way it would ever be comfortable to hold to your face is if you had No nose! Handling is very awkward and your nose gets in the way because of the way the camera is positioned in the center of the binoculars. As a camera, it's not!! Your pictures do NOT focus in on what you are seeing through the binoculars. It produces blurry pictures no matter what the distance. It also does not auto-balance the light, your pictures will also have unnatural shadowing unless you are in very bright sunlight. The enclosed instructions are also very little help in picture taking and troubleshooting... ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars one flaw
I used the image view to take 17 really good pictures. However, holding the binoculars in my hand as I walked to the beach, somewhere along the way the on/off switch simply fell out!I returned it for full credit but I would rather have had another pair. They were not in stock.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cash for Trash
The optics used in these binoculars are semi-sharp in the middle and blurry around the edges, the quality of the images lack contrast and the life of the camera can be measured in weeks. Avoid Bushnell products in general. The optical quality has been horrible in every pair of binocs I've ever purchased (though I did like one of their easy focusing systems). On one pair, the images didn't even line up and it's not worth the postage to have them returned.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun, Great Pix, some limitations
I was SURE I "invented" Bushnell ImageView in my mind (but didn't have the foresight to go patent the idea, alas!) Every time I'd look in my birding binox, I would think, DARN! Why can't I snap that picture RIGHT NOW? Well, Bushnell, who is the maker of my birding binoculars, certainly was channeling my thoughts, and they came out with the ImageView, which is a pair of 8X30 binoculars with a built-in digital camera. So, how does it work and will this hybrid binox-camera combo work for you? Let's discuss...

4-0 out of 5 stars Bushnell 8x32 Instant
I was a little dubious when ordering this, as to the quality and clarity of the lens and the view they would give, I should not have worried, they are top class. And the units quite light too! Now add the camera functions to it and it is top shelf. I use it for Deer hunting in New Zealand, and during a 'stalk' you see some interesting things, animals fighting, bonking, doing different things which I always thought if only I had a camera! Often I can come out of the bush and say I saw 4 today 18 and a 21 pointer a spiker and a hind, some give you a look of disbelief, now its 'Hey look at these ones I saw today' Oh and cop the size of this Boar I saw across the River.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Digital Binocular
You should think of this as a pair of good binoculars with the added bonus of taking digital pictures and 30 seconds of video - rather than a camera with good zoom (8x). The reason is that it does not zoom, it's fixed at the 8x optical magnification.
5-0 out of 5 stars Bushnell Digi-Bino
These binoculars are awesome!Clear view and easy to focus. The camera is a really neat feature and is easy to use.The photos are clear, but a little on the grainy side (which I expected they would be).All in all - the binoculars rock and the camera is fun, even if it takes less than perfect pictures.I would totally recommend the Bushnell Digi-Bino's. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good product.
These binoculars are horrible.First off, the software is way too complex (and I am a software engineer so I know it doesn't need to be that way).My dad, who is good with computers, couldn't even get the pictures off the camera. And of course the ONLY way to get the pictures of the camera is through the Roxio software (i.e no way of browising to the pictures). But the worst thing is the picture quality. The picture my dad took of deer were all dark and blurry.I thought maybe it was him taking pictures wrong, so I took some pictures at my well-lit workplace.COMPLETE GARBAGE!So,If you buy this after reading this review then I think that you and these binoculars are a perfect match.BTW, I have the camera binoculars from Simmons, which are not that great, but at least they are functional, which is light years ahead of these Bushnell ones.

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT WHAT I EXPECTED
i didnt like the product as it had no screen to review the pictures and had problems getting it to download to the computer

2-0 out of 5 stars very disappointed
I bought this over the summer, and as an ecologist and bird enthusiest, I wanted a good pair of binoculars with a camera built in so I can capture good shots of birds in their natural habitat. The magnification was pretty good, I could see things from a pretty far distance. However, every single one of my pictures that I took were very blurry.Being that its almost impossible to stand perfectly still or to NOT shake or move at all, these are not functional camera binoculars if you cant get a clear picture. Especially when you'rein the field and want to get a quick shot. The only way to get a clear shot is to put it on a tripod, and thats too much trouble and not possible when out in the field and you come across a great photo opportunity.By the time you set up everything, its too late!More thought needs to be put into these products before manufacturing them. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good for quick digital camera pictures
I only use the digital camera capabilities for the Mustek DV 3000.This small digital camera is great for quick pictures that are going to be used for digital purposes and the software that comes with the camera is eay to use.Even the novice computer user can upload pictures with this camera. The downside if no flash and the video capabilities seem to capture very dark video unless outside or in a very extremely high light area.So I use this camera to take quick pictures of my kids or for items I am selling online, so this camera is very functional for it's quick digital camera functions.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good camera, until it broke
I bought this camera and was very happy with it. It took clear pictures and was very easy to use. Although it was small in size it got the job done. Then, after less than a month of using it, it simply stopped working. It wouldn't turn on, the LCD screen wouldn't show anything, and when it rarely did turn on, weird sounds came from it. I took good care of it, didn't drop it or anything of the like. After repeatedly calling Mustek customer service and finally getting help from them, all they said was that it had a malfunction and to ship it in, but we never got a new camera. It was horrible service, and a cheap camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a great mini-DV.
I am using this as a substitute of my tape-DV.Read more

As a birder who has owned quality optics (i.e., Bausch & Lomb Elite, Swarovski, Kowa, and Leica), in my opinion the Celestron VistaPix pales in comparison. It feels and performs more like a toy than a quality binocular - which is not too surprising given the approx. $150 price tag.4-0 out of 5 stars Nice binoculars with the added bonus of a camera
First off, these are a quality pair of binoculars. They fold up nice and small and fit into the included nylon pouch along with the USB cable and neck strap. They swing open to adjust for interpupilary distance, and then are focused using the barrel adjustment on the top of the unit. There is a diopter adjustment that would come in handy if your vision is different in each eye.Looking through the lenses shows nice full circles of light, belying the quality prisms within. The digital camera features seem to be a bit of an afterthought;1.3 mega pix is a bit wimpy for a main camera by today's standards, but that said photos can come out pretty nice with some practice and understanding of the limitations. It is difficult to hold the binoculars steady enough to take a sharp photo over long distances, so you will have to brace yourself or lean on something. There is a screw adaptor on the base of the unit to accept any common camera tripod. The controls are very simple, and after a few minutes it is easy to learn to operate them without looking so you shouldn'thave to fiddle with the camera while trying to focus on yoursubject. The camera will not pick up enough light to take good photos at night;that is to say that the resulting photo will not look as good as what you saw with your dark-adjusted eye. These should be perfect for daytime terrestrial photography however. The SD card and camera are mass-storage compliant, and came up without a hitch on Mac OS X, Win XP, and Redhat 9.Read more
