Editorial Review

The HVLFDH3 is a combination video light and flash designed for use with Sony's DCRPC101 and DCRP105 camcorders. With the 3-watt flash, you can take great-looking digital stills under less than ideal lighting conditions, while the 100 cd/m2 maximum luminosity video light allows you to capture video in poorly-lit environments.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good carry around flash and video light combo
Yes, this flash light does drain your battery. That's why you need to use a high capacity battery with this flash. Not sure why the previous reviewer said that this flash messed up his camera battery.I did not experience this problem.
2-0 out of 5 stars Don't walk blindly into this light
I picked up this light a few months back for my Sony VX2000 (which captures both digital and still images). While the range of the light was moderate for video, it worked reasonably well for nearby photos in the dark.It seemed to drain my battery rather quickly. That was to be expected...but it was even faster than I thought before the battery light would start blinking.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Flash
This is a very nice flash unit that integrates well with the PowerShot Pro1 camera.I appreciate the zooming strobe tube to match the lens focal length as well as the ability to bounce the flash off the ceiling for softer effects.I should have purchased this flash when I first got the Pro1 camera.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent flash but could use a little more warning on low batteries...
Does the job and the Canon E-TTL II is a nice feature but I wish they would provide a battery indicator like on the Canon DSLR cameras.

I am very pleased with this product...

5-0 out of 5 stars Nikon SB-600
I love this flash.I just recently purchased it and have used it for 2 big events and it worked perfectly.I still don't know everything that it is capable of doing but am still able to work it just fine without even reading the manual.
5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely an upgrade from the built-in flash
I've been quite satisfied with my Nikon D50 and I've been using the built-in flash occasionally to get evenly lit images and balanced exposed shots. But the built-in flash just doesn't cut it.I made the huge mistake of taking pics at my cousin's wedding reception in a huge hall thinking that a tripod, high ISO settings, and the built-in flash will suffice.I was wrong.I borrowed a fellow photographer's spare speedlight (SB-600) and when I downloaded the pics to my computer for some fine tuning, I noticed the HUGE difference between the built-in flash. The speedlight gave me more area to be covered by the flash. For roughly under $200+, this is quite the bargain.I'd recommend rechargeable AA batteries. The recycle time for the flash is FAST.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash
Great flash, all the good qualities of the SB800 but less of the data dump and decision quagmire! It has the built in flash disperser, its lighter than the 800, so unless you're into more info than you need, go with the SB600. Oh, it has a shorter recycle time too. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just so-so
I'm using a SD700 IS, S400 and S100.If you just want additional range the HF-DC1 works, but it seems to have problems when the additional light is not needed -- It is unable to shut off quickly enough and so overexposes. The skimpy and vague manual says, "Set the intensity switch to [MIN], [MID] or [MAX].Take a test shot before recording an actual image to find the most appropriate setting. This is cumbersome -- So much for spontaneity!I guess this is Canon's admission that the HF-DC1 only compensates for the camera's flash over a limited range.
4-0 out of 5 stars Review of Canon HF-DC-1 Flash for Canon Powershot
The unit performs exceptionally well. It truly lights up subjects that are 20 to 25 feet away, well beyond the range of the flash built into the camera. It is also suitable for hand holding a foot or more from the camera and fires with the built-in camera flash so as to avoid the "flat lighting" normally expected with on camera flash pictures.I have no serious complaints. My only negative is that the so-called "manual flash" does not work as I expected it to. The instructions could be a bit better on this point.Overall performance I would rate a 5 out of 5.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a necessity item.
You will really enjoy the use of the extra flash. My photos have turned out beautifully. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Flash
I use this in a CD 500, like other users I love the flash. It works great, but get recharagable batteries...cycle times seem fine I have not had to wait long for a second shot. The auto program feature is nice and the bounce light is soft and clear.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it - You'll like it
If you want better indoor exposures from your compatible Sony camera this is definitely the flash to get. With this flash you will automatically eliminate red-eye, have the ability to exceed 10 feet of distance between you and your subject (which is about the maximum effective distance of most Sony built-in flashes), and one feature I especially like with this flash is being able to bounce the flash off the ceiling for a more natural look, avoiding the "washed out" look that happens with many flash exposures. As others have noted, this flash consumes a lot of batteries. Buy yourself some good NiMH rechargeables to go with this flash and enjoy better indoor pictures immediately.

5-0 out of 5 stars Batterie issue
I love this flash! For those of you with battery issues, try energizer e2 lithium.I just when through a set of "high end" duracels in 3 days of shooting. My last e2 Lithium batteries lasted 6 months! The flash requires more of a kick to talk to the camera then regular batteries can give. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Replacement
Excellent flash.I had an accident with the first one and had to replace it. It was worth the expense.

5-0 out of 5 stars Canon Speedlite 220EXfor Digital Rebel
Built-in flash on Canon EOS digital rebel is flawed. This inexpensive add-on works great and is very useful for the casual photographer who likes the flexibility of the digital SLR but who is not a fanatic about flash photography.Price is right. Feature-full for all but the highest end photographer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stronger than onboard flash and support for High Speed Sync (FP) mode
This is Canon's smallest EX flash. With a guide number of 22m it isabout 2.9 times as powerful as the typical onboard flash (guide number 13). It does not allow for tilt or sviwel. There is a cheaper Cullmann flash, the 20 AF-C, that does allow for tilt but unlike the 220EX it does not support high speed sync. The support of high speed sync is crucial for use of the flash for daylight fill. For me fill is the primary use of this flash.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome flash unit
This flash unit is by far one of the best camera accessories I've purchased...macro shots are much easier with this flash and I don't have to worry so much about blurry pictures. The bulbs can be set to fire at different ratios and it's possible to turn one side off completely, allowing for nice shadows that give your images more depth. The ring itself can rotate, so the flash can highlight any side of the subject. It has two small focusing lamps that illuminate your subject while you focus, which makes it a lot easier to see what you're doing. It even comes with a nice padded carrying case. This flash gets a lot of use and it's now a major asset to the rest of my gear...it's definitely worth the money. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great flash, Slow Flash...
The flash is great for what it does. It is not for sports photography, to say the least. The quality is really great though. Aside from the speed factor I didn't have any complaints. I would recommend this flash as long as you don't do sports photography. Battery Consumption is average, good considering the quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Canon MT24-EX Macro Twin Light
After years of manual flash macro work, recently in digital format with extension tubes on the Canon 100mm macro lens, I decided to cast a onsiderable sum of money at this twin light.Where I used to struggle just to get the correct exposure, now I'm able to concentrate on background (no night-looking flash fall-off anymore) and on modeling the light -- including little shiny aphids tended by ants! If you're serious about great macro work -- this is the flash to have.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Powerful Enough for E500
I bought the FL-20 for my Evolt E-500 DSLR and was very disappointed that I'm actually returning it.It's just not powerful enough for a DSLR.It's good for some simple close-up shots.I would not recommend it for the E500, or probably the E300 either.Sounds like it works well with the other type of cameras.
5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend for photographers that don't edit photos
I just bought this for Christmas because our 8 month old has such bad red eye, even with the red eye prevention feature in my digital camera. So many previous shots have had to be edited to get rid his red eye it was getting frustrating and was becoming a chore. It is great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sunpak 383 external flash
For the price it is a very good value especially with the capability of bouncing the flash in several directions.Using the internal flash either left dark or washed out images at times. This flash solves the problem.I've dealt with ADORAMA several times and it was a pleasant experience.Items were sent quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars SUNPAK 383 SUPER
This flash is the perfect back-up for a studio, or Main/flash fill for an amateur studio.I use several w/slaves and lines and the images rival set-ups that cost thousands of Dollars.I like that they are light and easy to pack and transport. They are reasonably priced. They have been around for a long time and do not have bells and whistles. The SUNPAK has auto/f-stop and manual. If you are a real photographer, you will know how to use them. The down side is that if your SUNPAK is plugged into a wall, it takes far too long to recharge (sometimes 3-5 seconds).Rechargeable batteries seem to work the best with 1-3 second recharge times between flashes.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Electronic Flash for a Great Price!
I purchased my Sunpak 383 Super a little over three years ago for my Fuji digital camera. Not only is it easy to use, but is has great battery life and is very inexpensive for what you get.I have used it in a number of locations including auditoriums and other large rooms with very impressive results. 4-0 out of 5 stars Great flash for older Nikon cameras
The SB 50DX is just the ticket for the older Nikon cameras. The SB 50DX speedlight is superb with the N80 - providing TTL metering and a wide range of settings.Even better, if you shoot with film, the SB 50DX is readily available in the used market for $50-75.What an amazing price for a flash unit that retailed for more than $200 in early 2004.For digital flash, the SB 50DX works well with the older models, but check carefully. For example, the D70 and D50 have iTTL metering - which is not supported by the SB 50DX.But for other digital models such as the D1, the SB 50DX is fully functional.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for dental photography
I recently bought this light for use in my dental practice. After looking for expensive ring flaslights, this cool light is simply great. One of the features i like more is that when you use a ring flashlight in dental photography you need to close off all the other light sources, which means you have them on, you focus, you turn them off and you shoot the photo. With the cool light the light is allready on before and after the shot.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Balanced, functional, and practical
I already owned a Speedlight SB-28dx for use with my F100 on a Stroboframe bracket for off-camera flash. The SK-E900 enables me to use the same flash on my Coolpix 4500. It is a practical accessory for the Coolpix 900 series and 4500 digital cameras, as long as you don't mind investing in another flash or already have one. Your camera will automatically meter the light and adjust the output of both the built-in and external flash. Results are superb. Simply, it attaches easily, it is light, and it is well balanced.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have if you have or are planning to buy Nikon 995
Excellent reviews already written. I only want to add that the 995 was supposed to reduce to dreaded "Red-eye" that has been a problem with previous 990's. But I have a 995 and all of the in-door pictures I have taken of my "Great-God Son" have produced major red-eye, and this bracket eliminates that problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality product.
I use the bracket to connect my Coolpix 995 with my Nikon SB-27 speedlight and it works quite well. Unlike other reviewers, I like the built in flash with the Coolpix, but since I already use this flash with my Nikon SLR, I wanted to be able to use it with my digital too. It works well and the bracket includes the Multi-Flash Adapter Cord, which you might not expect for this price.
