5-0 out of 5 stars Great for caves and canyons
I've had this camera about a month now and am extremely pleased with it. I've taken it into numerous caves, where dripping water and muddy conditions are common, and it has survived being dragged around. Moreover, it has taken fantastic closeups of tiny features. I am amazed at how good the macro feature is, especially when there is virtually no light.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pentax Optio W20 7MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom
This is my second Optio (due to an unfortunate accident snorkling in Hawaii) and I can't believe the pictures and adaptability of this camera. The W20 has more features than the W10 I had previously, and this takes even better pictures.I can pick a mode and take great pictures and video, either on land or under water. My only recommendation is to get the silicone cover that is available if you are going to use it underwater. It will keep your fingers from manipulating the lock mechanism that opens the waterproof door to the battery and memory card. The camera is a great size for those of us with larger hands that have a hard time holding the new smaller cameras, and it is an added benefit that the lens never protrudes from the camera body. All of the zoom and focus is internal in the camera.Makes it really easy to slip into a pocket.I liked this style of camera so much I went and bought another one.Even after I compared it to the Olympus and Casio.

2-0 out of 5 stars Lousy quality pics
I just bought this camera off Amazon, and owned it for less than 24 hours before deciding to return it. I did a side by side comparison, between my 5 year old 4 megapixel Canon and this new 7 mp Pentax.Indoors with flash. Outdoors. In shade. In auto everything mode. Set to my preferences. No contest. The Pentax lost every time. The colors were muddy. The sharpness was far less than my 4 mp Canon. The flash kept overexposing everything, and washing out colors.

1-0 out of 5 stars DC500 Leaks
I recently purchased the DC500 to replace the Sealife Reefmaster I've had for the last 4 years. The DC500 leaked both times I used it, apparently from the lens section of the housing. It was not enough to damage the camera, but taking pictures was futile. It is being sent back to Sealife for inspection, will update on the results.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money, buy something else!
I got the SeaLife DC500 proset camera & external strobe flash for Christmas.I took it on a week long dive trip to the Bahamas.First of all, the external flash almost NEVER worked, out of hundreds of shots it worked approximately 3 times, despite extensive babying, tinkering, etc.Secondly, the casing fogged up constantly, even with the included desiccant capsules, making it almost impossible to use even without the strobe.Third, it froze up WAY too frequently, causing me to miss photos from a 140' wall dive that was one of the best dives of my life.I could have taken pictures of animals that were probably "new" to science, but my camera was busy having a seizure. Now, it appears that I probably won't be able to return it because I took it underwater. It seems kind of difficult to me to find out whether an underwater camera works without taking it underwater, but maybe I'm just stupid.Bottom line- buy a disposable underwater 35 mm camera before you buy this piece of junk, you'll get better pictures with less frustration.

1-0 out of 5 stars Housing leaking, no service
I purchased SeaLife Reef Master DC500 and went to my diving trip to Egypt. Housing of the camera started leaking already on the first day. OK, we thought, let's contact the dealer and get it repaired. BUT it appeared not to be so simple. I have sent them 4 e-mails within last 3 months, but got no reply. We don't have SeaLife service in Latvia and the responsible service in USA is just not giving any attention to our attempts to contact them. So, I guess, I'll just trash the camera and forget about SeaLife. My advice to others - DON'T BUY THIS CAMERA IF YOU DON'T HAVE SEALIFE SERVICE IN YOUR COUNTRY! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointment
got at clearance from Nat'l Geographic - same problem with battery reading low, inconsistent flash and not being able to take more than 1 or 2 photos before everything just stopped. Returned it, looked for another but all the prices were higher. Think I'll look for another method.

1-0 out of 5 stars bring a different camera to the beach
I bought this one because I had a pleasant experience with the former Lomo Lubitel and the cheap yet precise Smena. This Frog Eye has nothing to do with the good old Lomo name: Perhaps the name switch to Lomography implies a change in quality as well. First surprise, the flash cannot be put off or forced in. Not too bad because anyway the camera went berserk at its first roll: the flash it's not working anymore after only some 20 shots! The display indicates costantly that batteries are low, and when I changed the triple A doublet not only didn't solve the problem, but the frame counter restarted from zero. To add to this 59 $ disappointment, the image quality of the photographs is quite average, which makes one dream of the many top of the line disposables available. Spend your money sensibly!

1-0 out of 5 stars This "Frog" jumped ship
I bought this camera for snorkeling shots in The Bahamas.

5-0 out of 5 stars Decent Entry Level Digital Dive Camera
This camera is a no frills, easy to use dive camera.I would recommend getting rechargable NiMH batteries for this.It does go through batteries. You should not have a problem getting two dives out of a pair of charged batteries.
1-0 out of 5 stars Recommend against this camera
I strongly recommend against buying a SeaLife ReefMaster digital underwater camera. While their low-end underwater film cameras were a good buy, their digital cameras are not.

The SeaLife ReefMaster Pro set includes a SeaLife ReefMaster RC camera and an array of accessories developed by divers for divers. The camera offers automatic operations and point-and-shoot ease while handling depths up to 164 feet. The large shutter lever requires only light pressure, even at major depths. The SeaLife ReefMaster RC eliminates the need to focus by using a fixed focus to take pictures from 4 feet to infinity. The SeaLife ReefMaster RC can also take shots on land. It uses standard 35mm film and AA batteries. Other features include a built-in flash--but a more powerful external flash comes with the Pro accessory pack. 4-0 out of 5 stars Takes Great Photos and is Easy to Use
I am a novice scuba diver, and completely new to underwater photography, but I do have a lot of land photography experience. I bought a ReefMaster RC camera a few days before going on a recent Caribbean vacation and am very happy that I did. I took it on 3 different dives, a shallow (35') reef dive, a deeper (72') reef dive, and a deep (82') wreck dive (a WWII Soviet Warship!). The camera is very well designed and performed extremely well; even after I dropped it! (It bounced.) It's a breeze to handle underwater, with all the key stuff easily readable and accesible. It's also really easy to use; a couple of times I handed it to my fellow divers (underwater) and they took very good photos without needing to fuss with dials, etc. I shot 3 different rolls of 36 exposures of Kodak ASA 200 Gold film. My first roll (the shallow dive, my first with the camera) yielded 10 photos I put in my album. The second and third rolls (dives 2 & 3) yielded 18 and 15 photos respectively that I judged good enough to show to friends and colleagues (who were blown away by the pics). The 'rejected' photos were due to 'operator error' (as in, I was too close, or too far away, etc.). I highly recommend this camera to people who want to take high quality underwater photos without the expense and hassle of higher-end cameras. If you get the camera, be sure to also get the 3x close-up lens, which really brings out the best in your underwater subjects. And READ THE MANUAL ... I suspect that some of the folks here who complained about the camera didn't take the time to follow the instructions. Have fun!

1-0 out of 5 stars Over priced camera that leaks
Well I bought this camera a few weeks ago to go hawaii. Well it leaked after one roll of film so cleaned it out and let dry over night and loaded it again the next day and leaked again to where the camera didnt work anymore. Well I ended up getting some underwater disposable cameras. When I got the film developed the the disposable pics actually came out better than the 1 roll that came out of my $... camera (imagine that). Well now Im trying to get it repaired or replaced and I have to pay to ship it to them plus another $... I have to send to them for processing, what is up with that if I have a warrenty and its faulty equipment they should cover at the the shipping back to me. Over all There is nothing that I can recomend about this camera from the pics to the service. Would give it a 0 if possible.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good beginning underwater camera!
I just purchased this camera and have already used it on 6 dives and found it to work so much better than other disposable cameras and housing for scuba diving. It's not a Nikonos (sp?) but it's still pretty good for a beginner. The only thing I don't like too much is that if you're pretty close to one object but also too far away from another object in the same frame, the flash is only good for within some many feet.Anything further and you can start to see the bluish cast from taking underwater photos around the perimeter of the photo.I also purchased the 3X macrolens to go with it, but found that I had much difficulty keeping this portable lens on without actually using both hands at the same time trying to keep it on the camera while taking a photo.Otherwise a great camera! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap flimsy plastic camera.
I have had this camera for a few years and gotten lots of good shots with it on dry land. And lots of blurred underwater shots where the subject wouldn't wait around while the camera brought up the title screen and slowly got itself ready to shoot.
1-0 out of 5 stars Strongly recommend against
I strongly recommend against buying a SeaLife ReefMaster digital underwater camera. While their low-end underwater film cameras were a good buy, their digital cameras are not.
2-0 out of 5 stars Reefmaster Leaves A lot to be desired
I recently purchased this camera just wanted a basic underwater camera. That is exacly what you get. Most of my frieds are diving with Sony Cybershots with the water housings. Their pictures clarity and detail in comparison to the Reefmaster is way better. The Reefmaster cameras claim to be a 3.3 mp camera but the picture size is always less than 1 mb on the largest sharpest settings. I would say that it operates more like a 1 mp camera. I'm pretty dissapointed in the preformace. Another down side is that when you change the batteries or remove your san disk flash card you loose all of your settings plus the date and time. It's a cheap camera in a fancy housing.

2-0 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor
If you already own a digital camera that you like, do yourself a favor and look to see if a underwater housing is available for it.Obtaining any type of support from these folks is difficult at best.E-mail response is slow and not very helpful. The included memory is good for 6 pictures, so plan on buying more memory.Do not believe it when they tell you you can substitute AA batteries if your recharables are out of power. They will only last for 4 shots before the camera stops working.Read more

I strongly recommend against buying a SeaLife ReefMaster digital underwater camera. While their low-end underwater film cameras were a good buy, their digital cameras are not.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Picture Quality, Rugged Construction, Battery Glutton
The case is extraordinarily strong, thick, high impact plastic with high quality seals and strong hinges. The closure latches on the camera case and external flash are positive, strong, and are well designed to prevent snagging. I was impressed that virtually every control on the camera is available outside the water-tight case via spring-loaded buttons. The one caveat is that the buttons on the watertight case are not labeled, so you have to "know" the camera pretty well before diving. On the other hand, the icon labels on most digital cameras are not all that intuitive anyway, and SeaLife provides a waterproof rubber quick reference "card" on a cord.
