Great lens
I recently took this lens to Hawaii with me. I got some great shots of Diamond Head and Hanauma Bay. The shots of Diamond Head are so close it looks like I visted it.
Great Zoom lens
I just bought mine today at Kenmore Camera, in Kenmore, Wa.They said it is the most popular zoom lens that they sell.I was initially looking for a lense that is good for portraits and they directed me to the Tamron AF 75-300mm 4-5.6 LD with Hood (Black).They showed me how it works and it really is cool how it blurs the background so that the subject stands out beautifully. Picture taking of people has never been easier because you don't have to worry about the background, hardly at all. You can have a pile of laundry in the background and it wont make much of a difference....It is awesome.I can't wait to develop my first roll.They also strongly suggested that I get the UV filter to go with as it magnifies the light and can seriously damage your eyes over time. Good value in this updated design.
The new Di lenses from Tamron are designed to work well with digital cameras, although those with the Di will work for 35mm as well (Di-II only work with smaller, APS-C chip size digital cameras).This is an improvement on the fine 70-300 LD (Low Dispersion glass) design.The major improvements in this lens are in the coatings, to help reduce any color bias, and minimize reflections.Additionally, lens manufacturers are doing more inside the barrels to reduce reflections.

Tamron 200-500 Rocks
I have had this lens for about a month now and wanted to test it out. Packed up and went to the local zoo. Focus was fast and on point. The lens proformed great and the pictures came out sharp. I print out three of the picture and should them to my friends. They were taken back with the quality of this lens. They were all saying before this Nikon or Canon prime lens is the was to go. Great versatile lens
You cannot go wrong with this new lens by Tamron!I bought this lens about a month ago for use with my Nikon N65 and am very pleased.The quality of pictures this lens takes is better than my Nikor 28-80 lens plus I don't have to switch between that lens and my 80-200 lens!Picture quality and contrast is superior throughout the range of this lens (no distortion) and the zoom ring operates very smoothly.I've also noticed better depth of field in this lens over my two other lenses.Read more

So-so performance from an (relatively) expensive lens
I've been playing with this lens attached to my EOS 400D for couple of weeks now and I'm affraid it's not living up to my expectations, or it's relatively high price. Out of all the third party contenders (Tamron, Sigma & Tokina), this one is the most expensive, about $100 more than Tokina, yet it has the most limited zoom range, but most importantly, it's way too soft. Maybe I just have a bad copy, but in that case, for the price the QC should be better. At 18mm, it's marginally better than the 18-55 Canon kit lens, but then again, I don't need it for 18mm. Color rendition is OK and with some post-processing it makes acceptable 8x10 prints, but I just can't get over the price difference, so I'm returning it and trying my luck with Tokina 12-24...

A Good Wide Angle Lens
This lens seems to perform well and I have attached it to a Rebel 350 XT. Pictures so far look great. Really wide angle, possibly more than I really need, but it's fun to have. I am sure that a Canon lens is better, but would cost 2 to 3 times as much. The only problem I have had so far is at the widest angle indoors, the lens will cause a shadow when you use the flash on the camera. ... Read more
