5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Piece worth every cent !
I bought this product after a long research. This is worth the price u pay.Steiner makes the finest binoculors in the world and put their very soul in it.8x magnification is more than enough for casual users.I have tried other binoculors but those are bit bulky and you don't get the calrity as the zoom power increases.4-0 out of 5 stars Good Brand/Good Equipment
I have used Steiner optics for the last 10 years, specifically the military variant.Whether calling in artillery or watching soldiers from across a field, I have been pleased with Steiner. The images are fairlycrisp with good contrast.Granted, the image is not quite as good as thetop-of-the-line, fantastically expensive brands.Nonetheless, Steinermakes very good equipment with strong emphasis of dependability.I havenot used this specific model, but I have used other similar models.5-0 out of 5 stars Steiner 8x30 preditor

5-0 out of 5 stars Steiner Predator 10X42 Binoculars
I've owned and looked through many different pairs of binoculars and I can honestly say for the money Steiner's are the way to go.You could spend more money, but why?The best testimonial I can give is the reaction people give me when they look through my Steiners. "I've got to have a pair!"The exact thought I had, when I first looked through an old pair of Big Horn 9X40's.The Predator 10X42's picture is clear, crisp and sharp, even at night.Get a pair and look at a full moon, you can see craters. My 10X42's go with me wherever I go, and they always will.

3-0 out of 5 stars Over priced in my opinion
Despite being well reviewed in a UK magazine, these binoculars suffer from obvious false colour. I bought a pair and was astonished to find that birds in flight are surrounded by a multi-colour blur, the surface of a pond turned purple, and a Shelduck sprouted two extra necks. In my opionion these binoculars are not worth the high price. I now stick to my cheap Nikon Egret IIs as they give significantly better images.

5-0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!
These binocs are outstanding (in case you missed the subject line).Incredible detail, lightweight, rugged.Definitely in the same class as Swarovski or Zeiss. ... Read more

A solid work horse for great distance. Not too heavy, comfortable and easy to focus. One draw back is unless you are three to four hundred yards away, stay with the smaller 8X30 Predator. The 12X50 is almost too powerfull causing excessive movement. It also brings your subject matter too close.I have found myself having to move back to get better clearity. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Nice Optics but Failing "Rubber Armoring"
We like the optics of this pair of binoculars which offer a bright and well magnified image.Even viewing under low light conditions is fine.Another good feature is the autofocus with which the user only needs to adjust the eye diodes for all viewing.
5-0 out of 5 stars still the best
They're still the best. My friends try to tell me how good their fancy Austrian binoculars are and I show them my trusty Steiner Military/Marines. They work better and are much more durable than any of those $1000+ Euro brands. Steiner rules in performance and value!

4-0 out of 5 stars A hunter's perspective
These are the finest field glasses I have ever looked through. The clarity and their ability to collect light in low light conditions are unbelievable. The only, and I do mean only, drawback is their size. Just too big to wear in the field or still hunting. Laid flat on the table they are nine inches across, three and a half inches thick and five and half inches long. While this may not sound so bad, the circumfernce on this set of glasses ranges eighteen and one quarter inches to twenty and one quarter inches, depending on your preferred setting at the hinge, which determines the distance between the oculars. I suppose they could be packed in on a stand hunt, but I won't be using them while still hunting. However, I think they are relatively light for how big they are. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb!
"Absolutely astonishing optical performance" is the advertisement - and it rings true.Couldn't believe the difference when compared to Nikon Naturalist IV 7x35 (endorsed by the National Audubon Society). Both are comparable weight, but for twice the price of the Nikon, you get an order of magnitude more clarity & brightness.Remarkable!Only drawback is the lack of central focusing. The individual eyepieces require frequent adjustment for anything closer than 25 yards. This binocular is a keeper!

4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely rugged and an overall good value...
This binocular is seems extremely well constructed and rugged. The image quality is good (though not great). The sport focus system does not really work from 20 yards out (as advertised). It's fairly sharp from 70 yards or so out, but I've found I have to re-focus for the 20-70 yard range. The focus mechanism is fairly stiff, so it does stay put once focused.Despite the minor shortcomings, this binocular was exactly what I was looking for - lightweight, rugged, decent image, reasonable price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Bargain for the Price
Steiner has been making outstanding optics for years and the 8x30 M/M is another fine example. They are tough as a tank and crystal clear.Whether you are spotting deer at 400 yards or watching your kids soccer game the picture is always crisp, clear and requires no adjustment with Steiner's "sport auto-focus" system. This may sound like an advertisement for Steiner, but I am just a another COMPLETELY SATISFIED CUSTOMER.Sure, you can buy better optics.....but at 2,3,4+ times the price. Why? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great binocular for all around use
I've used the military version of these extensively while in the US Marines. They were great when set up in a stationary position, such as a rooftop or bunker, where you needed to observe for extended periods of time. I bought the Military/Marine model recently for boating, camping, and backyard astronomy. They are a little bit too big to take on day hikes, but I wouldn't hesitate to take them on an overnight camping trip where I'd be carrying a large pack. Overall low-light performance is excellent, and the only difference I can see between these and the Military R model is the lack of reticle.
