Good camera, but it's starting to tire.
This was my mom's, handed down to me about two years ago.I love the camera itself, it is small, easy to use, and versatile.I have no upgrades on it, it has the 8MB stick, which is pretty much nothing right now.I have some problems with the light reduction, but it hasn't become a big problem.It usually happens when the batteries run dead.Still, a highly reccommended product.

Broke after 8 months
Overall, this is an excellant camera as far as quality of pictures, features, ease of use. I loved it until it just quit taking pictures. After speaking to 3 sony tech support representitives and answering the same questions, they finally came to the conclusion that it was broke. Duh! I didnt drop, mis-use or abuse it. It just quit taking pictures. Sony's 90 day warrenty made matters worse as it will cost $148.00 to fix the camera. I was a big buyer of Sony products until this happened. You would think after spending $289.00 on the camera, it would come with a longer warrenty. Lesson learned! My rating for Sony is a 0 but the camera is a 4 star.

Great Camera!
The one thing I have bad to say about my camera (a 1.3 megapixel - very similar looking to the above) is that the movies have no sound. However, I did download a great program and put together the photos, some of my movies and add some music and they make great gifts! :)

Haunted by E:92:00 error
We love / loved this camera until the dreaded E:92:00 error popped up, making the camera unusable. We did buy the extended warranty from Best Buy but their extended warranty policy says that the camera can be out for 4 fixes for same problem, then they can, "at their discretion" replace the item. We have returned it for this problem 4 times, and they still didn't want to replace it. They have replaced all of the internal parts two times. Still they Said there was nothing wrong with the camera even though the E:92:00 error is all over the internet as a problem with this camera. Finally after telling them I had been without my camera for 50 days in the first 5 months of my daughter's life, someone took sympathy on me and we are getting a new camera. Hope Sony has fixed the problem.

A Great Camera
We bought this camera a couple of years ago and we are very pleased with it. Excellent experience.
I am a beginner at using digital cameras.Actually I know enough to be dangerous!!The Sony MVC-FD83 camera arrived exactly as described; excellent condition. I've found it very easy to use.I prefer the simplicity of using a floppy disc rather than the memory stick.Take the disc out of the camera and pop it into the computer and PRESTO - I've got GREAT pictures to print or email.No more picture developing costs! I contacted the seller by email before purchasing the camera.David answered all my questions promptly and in great detail.I HIGHLY recommend him. Not Bad
Picture quality is good, loud & sensitive mono sound, easy and not too heavy (about 2 lbs with battery), not too big size for travelling (about 4.5 x 5 x 11 inches). STANDARD BATTERY that came with this camera works 2 hours for B&W viewfinder recording 50 minutes with color LCD recording. If you play black a lot on the LCD (I like to do that), this battery will last about 30 minutes, charging time is about 1 hour. Option batteries are available, and I think I should have one. Exceeds expectations
I just received this today and I'm very excited about this camera.It comes complete with bag (in primary colors), strap for camera, A/V cable, remote, batteries for remote, AC adaptor, and rechargable battery pack.Only thing you need to buy is the 8mm tape.Well worth the money considering you don't have to buy the extras.This camera will help make some memorable holiday moments last forever.

Don't think it will speed up your photo taking!
According to a Sony rep I just spoke to, having a high speed memory stick will only increase the speed of data transfer to your computer. It WON'T increase the "save to camera" speed at all! This little tidbit was not easy to come by as both an online chat and a email to Sony would yield only the information that the high speed sticks were "compatible" with my camera. One went so far as to not respond at all after I thanked them for helping me to increase the speed of my photo taking! I'm not sure who to believe. But until they get their stories straight, you might do well to save your money for a known quantity! ... Read more

Pretty good for an old timer
I recieved this camera from a friend not a while ago for free. After reading the reviews, i was surprised at how old this camera was! 2002 was 3 years ago! And yet, this camera does a good job. 3.2 mpx is nothing, compared to the average now (around 4-5 mpx standard) but i must say this camera is good. For a 3.2 megapixle, this camera has very fine pictures. It is well worth it and does not lag as my old camera did. The negative effect of the camera is that after a while (3 years .. :P) the battery was worn out. It barely works for 10 seconds at a time before it says it needs a recharge. Other than that, the camera is good. I like it. But for the 2005-ers, there are much better cameras out there for cheaper prices. And more thin ones.
Excellent camera for beginners
I purchased this camera about a year and a half ago on eBay, I paid about $220 for it ($160 for the camera, and the rest was on the battery, charger and memory stick). It's a very nice design, with a large screen and a solid feel, and not at all too large. The picture quality was fantastic, I had no complaints. However, I had to give the camera up to my mother because the low-light pictures were AWFUL. The night I bought it, I took the camera to a minor-league wrestling show, and we compared the photos to my friend's four-year-old Olympus camera. The difference was striking- his photos came out much better, mine were either too dark, or terrifically blurry (those were in night mode). Again, if you are going to be taking photos in the light, for a party or outdoors in the daytime, you will love this camera. In the dark? Stay away!

shutter button problem
I owned this camera for several years.The first year it worked fine and I was happy with its performance.In the past year, I 've become completely dissatisfied with it.I always took good care of it, following the instruction manual.I first started to have power problems, the battery would not charge or would quickly discharge.Purchased a new one and now the shutter button does not work.It only goes down to the auto-focus mode but no to the record mode.I contacted Sony tech support and they tell me this is an unknow problem.Right! and I was born yesterday.Their only help was take it to a repair center. ... Nice camera, a few limitations
I bought this camera a little over a year ago, when I was doing a summer internship in the Albany area.I had been going out on nature outings with the other interns, and wanted a way to share my experiences with the folks back home.Over the last year I've taken my 505V on hiking trips, trips into caves and even on a diving trip, where I took some pics before getting in the water.Here are my observations from my experiences. Best ready to print pictures camera on the market
I have had a Mavica MVC FD95 for over 4 years now. It uses a diskette for storage. The reason I chose it was the built in flash, the universal ability to print, and the Zooming lense for those great Memphis Zoo panda and other animal pics when they are far away from the viewing area. There might be better cameras, but none are as easy to use and take GREAT pictures.
Good Digital Camera
I have had mine for approximately a year now and have had very excellent performance. I have experiance with many cameras, and digital is definately the way to go. The economics of it outways film cameras tremendously. I can hold over 400 photos on 100 floppy disks costing me only about $22.00 per box of 100 floppys. Try doing that with a film camera. And if you miss a shot or make a bad shot, just delete it, their's no waste. The only negitive aspects to this camera is the autofocus is quite slow for action shots, by the time it focuses and snaps the photo, the object is long gone. I have missed many shots due to this, I recommend planning action shots very carefully. The quality of the photos are very good for a 2.1 MP camera, you can make 8x10 photos with relitively good results. But if your looking for the quality like a 35mm film camera has than this isnt for you. And on occasion, you will find a floppy disk that won't format and won't hold any photos, I just ditch them and use another, the cost is very minimal. Overall this is a very good digital camera.

Super shot camera!!!Large enough to get your hands on and feel like a camera.What's more, it uses 3.5" disks to save your pictures on in low res to superhigh res.You can format the disks in the camera and after you have saved the ones to keep you can write on the disks again.I've taken pics of mountain goats and bighorns with the 10 zoom and have edited them with both corel photo and Adobe photoshop programs and have printed them to film quality 8 x 10's. ... I got this as a gift from my parents. IT LOSES PICTURES!!!
Not sure if anyone else in this reviewer pile has seen this, but I have had several "life events" including birthdays, my son's sonogram, and others that the camera shows upon review through its display the pictures you have taken.However, upon connecting it to the USB interface, they disappear.Disconnecting from the USB cable does not get the pictures back.Can you believe that Sony would release a product like this?Read more

As easy as it gets!
I've had my Mavica MVC FD85 camera for over five years. I bought it for use in my construction business to take pictures of my work and also for personal use. A digital camera doesn't get any easier, simply pop-in and out a floppy disk from camera to computer. I use it to store, share and email; it's so easy because you don't need any kind of adapter, cable or memory card port to transfer picture files and the image quality is ok too, its very sturdy also; I will buy another if this one ever fails...
GREAT!! Easy to use.

Great Camcorder

Great little camera for the money
I've been trying to buy a video camera for the past 6 years (ever since my first monster bought in 1990 died).I finally bit the bullet since this camera seemed so reasonable and so highly-rated.I'm happy with every aspect of this camcorder. The bells and whistles are surprisingly complete, and it's so lightweight that I can (and do) spend the entire day with it in my hand. A better camcorder than I thought!
We purchased this camcorder for the holidays, selecting the CCDTRV308 over the CCDTRV108 due to it's added features such as image stability and auto-light. It arrived within three days - amazing! With my son's birthday coming up at the weekend, and the speedy delivery, it was a real test as to whether I could read the manual and become comfortable in the camcorder's use before the big day. Super Fragile
I used the camera twice and found the viewfinder cracked.Sony refused through various channels to resolve the issue. They wanted more than I paid for the camera to repair it.Good luck if you have any troubles.

A Top Notch Digital Camera
Our Sony has given us trouble-free service on an around the world trip. We ran out of memory sticks pretty quickly and found the price for the 64 mb stick to be pretty expensive. Overall the image quality (on 2048 3:2 mode) is excellent. The colors are vibrant and we are able to easily print A4 copies on high quality printers.

Potential collectors' model
The longer I own this DSC-S70 digital camera, the more I like it. As I climb up on the learning curve of all the camera's functioanlities, I think that it is a very fine piece of precision instrument and worth every penny of its price.Read more

What a great little camera!
This camera achieves its goal as a sleek, simple dual function (still/movie) camera with moderate access to advanced functions.It is easy to use, small and lightweight, and has a very high coolness quotient.It has an interesting form factor, which I haven't found difficult to use, although the zoom toggle is sometimes difficult to reach because it's placed too high when you're holding the camera low in front of your body.The video is sharp and clear, and the audio is surprisingly good considering the built-in mic is placed on the top of the camera body.I do wish it had even the smallest of lights to assist with low-light conditions, because the video quality can be average in dim light.I think Sony should either have put a standard accessory shoe on the camera, or they should offer more options in terms of accessories, which are limited to a couple of mics and a light/flash or two.For example, a combination video light/flash and quality stereo or surround mic would be fantastic.Also, there is no external microphone input or headphone monitor jack, both of which should be standard on a camera in this price range.The battery life is limited.At full charge it reads 80 minutes.There is a larger battery available, but even that wont hold up to sustained use of zoom and flash.I suspect Sony chose an enclosed battery compartment to keep the camera sleek, but they should get working on a more potent option.
Great - But Mac Users Need Add'l Firewire Cable
I've only had my pc1000 for a week and it seems to be a great camera. The camera form factor, user controls, and picture/audio quality are all better than I expected.
3CMOS is not a bargain for DCR-PC1000
Iam from Costa Rica, this camera is very expensive I do not recommend you to buy, i t has no night shot or super night shot, the built in Flash has power for close pictures, the picture quality is just aceptable in sun ligth but indoors is very bad, i recommend you to buy the DCR-PC105 or similar from sony, it cost less and is almost the same video quality but this one has more features, the DCR-PC1000 has two modes of picture quality, i do not recommend this device. ... missing Drivers to download from memory card

microMV is not for everyone

I bought the Sony DCR IP220 because of its 2.0 Megapixel capabilities and while I love the resolution that it displays on the TV, I am not impressed with the quality of footage after capturing to computer. I bought this camera at a military exchange for pretty cheap.For my first Digital Camera I made a fine choice.You can never go wrong with Song first off.The camera is pretty basic, I didn't even read the instructions before using.It takes great photos and is pretty durable.Being in the military, I've taken this thing around the world and have had no ill effects.The only problem I can think of is that the delay is pretty long.This camera is no good for quick pictures, but I've worked around it.I also would recommend a memory stick upgrade.The one that comes with it only holds about 10 pictures.That's ok at home but over seas you have to have more memory.For a first time digital camera buyer, I most diffently recommend this camera.

Very good first camera
I've had this camera for almost two years now; have taken tons of pics both for the internet and for print. Using the best resolution it offers in normal light conditions, I've had perfect quality prints developed. You can't tell that they were taken with a digital camera - at least I can't and that's enough for me. :) Some minor problems do occur, though: if there's not enough light (for instance indoors) without the flash the picture becomes grainy. Also, it takes some time till it clicks. And a lot of pics were blurry when i used it in a party with a lot of flashing coloured lights around - but I guess that's not everyday use. :) Product came incomplete
