4-0 out of 5 stars A Great beginner SLR camera
I bought this camera to learn how to take great pics. This camera is definitely worth it.Especially for the price it sells for nowadays (I paid nearly $300 for mine when I got it).The N55 takes great shots and is easy to learn on.After using this camera I feel I am ready to upgrade in the near future.
5-0 out of 5 stars Love Nikon
I bought this camera because the price was so low ($199 with the lens) and I wanted to be able to print very large sized photos. I specifically got this to take on a trip to Austrlia and then Nova Scotia. I also took my digital camera as well. of course the prints from this camera are far more beutiful then the digital camera, there is just something about film. I wonder how far off we are from it being gone all together.
5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great camera
I'd recommend this for anyone looking into buying an SLR camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars About the best SLR I've ever owned
I've been a serious amateur and occassional professional photographer for over 40 years. My experience spans the early SLR entries up to the present.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
I bought this camera almost a year ago before I went on a trip to Italy... I was kind of worried about it because I had never had an SLR before, but I really wanted one, and I wanted to make sure I didn't have cheap looking pictures from my trip which I often had before.
5-0 out of 5 stars Back From Digital
I have had several digital cameras, including the Nikon 8700, I feel that digital is still got a way to go, they are wonderful, yet can be very tiring, printing gobs of prints for friends and family is tiring , tedious and expensive.

5-0 out of 5 stars NO problems with my N75
i have taken over 40 rolls of film with my Nikon N75, and i have had no problems at all with it.it is very user-friendly and lightweight.i've taken the camera to many places in the US, and to Rome.it has never failed me. and, it takes amazing quality pictures.
2-0 out of 5 stars bad camera
I thought I was the only one having problems with Nikon N75! Beside the fact I've got far better pictures with my old Pentax MZ 10 (I don't even want to go into details) my Nikon N75 it's now broken; after less than 20 rolls! Instead of loading the film it rewinds it back. I already lost 5 rolls. I thought it was my bad luck to get a bad camera but apparently exactly the same thing happened to other people. We should get our money back!

5-0 out of 5 stars One-way switch from minolta for me

Editorial Review

Nikon is legendary for its meticulous construction and amazing picture quality. The N70 is Nikon's top model in its non-pro SLR line. It has a wide range of advanced features that let you take incredible photos in any shooting situation. With a built-in flash, improved autofocus, and a good selection of exposure modes, the Nikon N70 makes it easy to take perfectly exposed and focused pictures with little effort. At 7mm by 3mm, Nikon's cross-type autofocus sensor module has an extra-wide focus detection area that swiftly locks onto a moving subject. The autofocus can detect subjects in light as dim as EV minus 1 (at ISO 100). The N70 also offers both spot and wide-area autofocus--the latter is especially handy when you want to loosen up your composition.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Only the best
Please, don't even go there with the comments of letidc. This is the last great film camera of our time. I have run thousands of frames through two of these cameras with very little problem. The F100 is as close as you can go to a Pro camera without the $3ooo.oo plus price tag. If your after a film camera, just buy this one, you won't be sorry.

1-0 out of 5 stars DISSAPOINTED NIKON
For approx. 20 years my father & I have never bought any other brand than NIKON...but this time my NEW F100 has dissappointed. FILMS REWIND ON ANY NUMBER...have researched to find out there was a FAULTY LOT released with a WEAK MOTOR ..was quoted approx. AU$400 to fix rewind problem. SHOULD INCLUDE A BUILT IN FLASH, PHOTOS MISSED due to very LOW LIGHT.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for amateurs...
While the F - 5 has its advantages (suc as %100 view through the view finder, a strong body, etc.), the F 100 is almost as good, at a much lower price, and a little lighter to boot...

5-0 out of 5 stars A Classic Nikon - that just about says it all
I have one of every model Nikon F made from the FTn to the F5.I used to think that the F2 was God's gift to photography. Rock solid and mine is 30 years old and it still works fine. However, as good as it was, I would not want to go out on a magazine assignment with an old F2. The capabilities of modern AutoFocus cameras make my old F2 and even the F3 too limited - especially with regard to invaluable tools like automatic fill flash, auto exposure, simple exposure bracketing and simple and fast film loading. I have an F4 too and in its day, it was a gem. But I shoot a lot of motorsports and the F4 was too slow for fast action. The F5 is everything the F4 was plus it focuses better and faster. The camera is a joy to hold (at least for my two hands) and is possibly the best handling camera I have ever used in my over 30 years of picture taking. As mentioned above, it focuses very well and very fast - especially with the newer "S" lenses with the motors in the lens. The camera takes lithium batteries and they seem to last through many dozens of rolls of film - not as cheap as alkaline but very convenient and much lighter to carry. The high eyepoint finder works great for me and my thick eye glasses. The controls are where Nikon has put them over the years so long-time users should have no trouble working fast with the F5. Mine has seen rugged use here and in Europe and it has never failed me. The only gripe I have is that the removable prism does let in dust but every Nikon I have has the same issue. It's simple to eliminate the dust with a soft brush or some canned air so it's a pretty small gripe. I think the Canon EOS 1V cameras and lenses focus a tad faster (I tend to use them more for my motor racing assignments) but the F5 is such a joy to use and the Nikon glass is so sharp that I look for assignments where I can use this camera. The F5 remains for now in the product line, despite the introduction of the new and more expensive F6. The F6 looks like a winner and handles well too. But its $2400 price tag and the fact that the majority of the market for a high powered pro camera has already turned to digital, makes me wonder who but a serious amateur with deep pockets will pony up the bucks for one. My final warning to you camera junkies out there is that once you handle the F5, you will not want to put it down. And that's not a bad thing.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of Nikon's Best Autofocus SLRs
Without question, the Nikon F5 is one of the best conceived, well built professional quality autofocus 35mm SLR cameras I have come across. True to the tradition of ruggedness expected from a Nikon F series camera, the F5 is truly built like a tank. In a sense, it is the autofocus equivalent of the old Nikon F and F2 cameras, which made Nikon's reputation for building a first-rate professional quality SLR system. Indeed it is the only professional grade autofocus 35mm SLR which comes with interchangeable finders and screens, harkening back to its F and F2 predecessors. I've handled the F5 in camera stores and also at trade fairs such as Photo Plus East; it may be the best handling autofocus SLR I've come across. However, it is about to be replaced by the newly introduced - and much lighter - Nikon F6, so potential purchasers should look carefully at this camera and the F6, before making their purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nikon's Pro 35mm Camera
I take better pictures with the F5, let me clarify, at an air show, while whale watching and of course all the people shots I would have missed if it were not for the speed of the auto focus and the wonderful metering system. I think it is one of the attributes of this camera the ability to get the shot, quickly and accurately. Read more

I have used different cameras, from manual Russian cameras, to state of the art point-and-shoot. I have even fiddled with digital cameras, and considered switching to digital. 5-0 out of 5 stars Good Camera
Ok, so it's not digital, but it has features that most digitals don't have. Just have an N65 along with a digital like me because it's still nice to get same day or one hour prints developed. I just love the Auto Exposure Bracketing and Mulitple Exposure capability. The auto focus helps alot. It's a good flash photography camera too. The Vari-Program on the N65 is lots of fun for an amature like you. In certain modes you can set a desired shutter speed and aperture.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great intro camera, but not for experienced or hardcore use
I purchased the N65 for a young nephew who's just getting involved in photography. For the most part, this camera fits his needs. It's highly automated and allows him to do high speed photography (sports), something many point and shoot 35mm cameras simply can't do.
5-0 out of 5 stars Meets every Expectation
This camera takes great pictures. I use it mostly as point and shoot but some times I take protrait pictures and the sharpness is breath taking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
This is definitely one of the top five cameras on the market. Completely worth whatever you pay for it. Its durable, easy to use and turns out fantasic quality photos.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chrome and Black Leather
I just bought one of these used, but in great condition. What a joy to hold and use! Light, fast, responsive, but not a toy for ones who like "idiot proof" cameras. A peerless image making tool for those who know what they want and can still multiply & divide by 2.... I wear glasses, and the finder presents no problems. Standard PC connector for studio use, and cable release for time exposures. NO SHUTTER LAG! If you can see it and hit the button, the moment is captured on film for the ages. Add an MD12 motordrive, Vivitar 285 flash and you've got a set-up that will do anything. This rugged and substantial camera will go anywhere. Best of all, no batteries are needed for basic operation. Cons? I don't have two of them! Get a 50mm F1.8 lens with it and skip the cheap zoom. You'll see what photography was meant to be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best new camera of its type

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Entry To World of Nikkor Lens
Nikon was recommended to me by a knowlegable coworker. I was very impressed when he told me that Nikon manufactures their own glass. He initially recommended the N80, but all I could afford at the time was the N60. It seemed like a good entry level camera for someone new to 35mm SLR photography. I bought it from Amazon in the spring of 2000. I also found the Magic Lantern Guide to the Nikon N60/F60 Camera at B&H Photo Video in New York. It was much better than the manual that came with the camera. I highly recommend the Magic Lantern Guide to Nikon Lens as well, as you are probably going to get more than one lens before you are through! I wound up getting a wide-angle 28mm f2.8, a fast 50mm f1.4, and a classic 80-200mm f2.8 zoom lens.5-0 out of 5 stars I love this camera
I've been using this camera for several years and I've been very pleased with the results. It is a great value and a fantastic blend of features and convenience.I'd highly recommend this model as a first SLR for someone interested in more serious photography.Plus with Nikon, you know that when you do replace the camera body, you'll still have some of the best lenses on the market.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good value- but understand its limits.
The N60 is one of a number of new budget made-in-China cameras bearing the Nikon label. On the plus side, they're a great entry into the Nikon system, and they're backed by the Nikon organizations,m with worldwide service available. On the minus side, these are not built to the same level as the classic Nikon SLRs. They're plastic, they lack the ruggedness of real Nikons, and they won't be around in 10 or 20 years. And the lenses they come with, while they use the Nikon mount system, aren't of the optical or mechanical quality of Nikkor lenses.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars My pictures don't stink anymore!
I've always used cheap 35mm and disposable cameras. Now that my daughter is growing up and becoming more involved in various sports and school activities I've long wanted to have a serious camera with zoom so I can get good upclose high quality shots. I decided to splurge on the N65 after doing lots of internet research and talking to variety of photographer type folks.4-0 out of 5 stars A great SLR for beginners and advanced amateurs
I bought this camera four months ago knowing nothing about photography. Now, thanks to my F65, I'm shooting slide films and learning the zone system and continue to amaze ppl with my wonderful pictures. I had a chance to play with the more advanced F80 but besides the faster flash sync offered I'm fully satisfied with my easier-to-manage F65. By "easier" I don't mean any loss in functionalities or features. Advanced features like multiple exposures, depth-of-view preview and auto bracketing are all there inside this compact, light weight body. There's an optional infra red remote for this camera that functions like a cable release which's a must for night and serious photography too. The camera works with all AI and AFS Nikkor lenses. A shutter speed of 1/2000 is more than adequate for all conditions and film pull/push can be achieved by exposure compensation despite the fact that we can't directly manipulate the ISO setting. It's a perfect camera for novices with its automatic modes, and for advanced users with its possible manual settings. The matrix metering is reliable and accurate, the center weighted metering is good for low light or night photography. It doesn't have spot metering, but it isn't necessary anyway as a real professional won't need a on-camera spot meter. So unless you're in need of a faster flash sync for wildlife photography or a more rugged but heavier body, there're really no reasons to go for higher models. ... Read more

The Nikon FM10 with 35-70 mm Nikkor Lens is a totally manual 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera--great for those who want to learn the mechanics of photography from the ground up. Without fancy computerized features to confuse or override your personal artistic choices, the Nikon FM10 relies on the photographer to do most of the thinking, but it does offer a depth-of-field preview and a center-weighted light metering system. Focus and aperture are manual, and you can select film speeds down to 1/2000 second. You also have manual film wind and rewind, allowing you to create double exposures or rewind your film midroll.Read more

  • Fully manual single-lens reflex camera
  • Includes 35 to 70mm Nikkor lens
  • Film speeds down to 1/2000 second
  • Manual wind-rewind with multiple exposures possible

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!
This is the best camera ever, when compared to others the FM10 blew it away, the FM was much more durable and takes better pictures (my friend has one of the competitors) and now that she's seen mine, she is very jealous! The pictures are outstanding.Built to last and if you're a beginner to a pro I think you'll be pleased!I was just starting out as a photographer and now after 2 years I still can't put it down.If you're thinking about buying this camera, don't, just get it!!

4-0 out of 5 stars scary at first, but i loved it
i took a beginning b&w photo class in college a year ago and this was the camera they had in the lab to lend out to people who didnt own a slr of their own. at first i was scared on how to use the thing, it seems complicated but its really not. once you get the hang of it, i loved it. its all manual which is great for control purposes. now that ive got some cash, im gonna buy the nikon fm10 slr for myself to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful

5-0 out of 5 stars Does not include camera, case only with book and filters
Okay so I'm ignorant about cameras. I probably should have done some research and then I would have known that there was no way you could buy a Nikon camera with a nice case for $49.99 but if you click on the photo above you will see different views of the camera. Also if you read the product description and the tech data you would think you were getting a camera. So today my order arrived. It was a nice Nikon case, with a user's guide, and a round plastic container of filters. I talked to a Onecall customer rep and he confirmed that the SLR value kit does not contain a camera. So for any of you newbies out there who think you might want to buy this "camera" think again. I will say if you want a nice pricey camera case, this one looks pretty good. But it's going back to OneCall tomorrow. I am giving it 5 stars because it is a nice case and it's not OneCall's fault that it is misrepresented here.

5-0 out of 5 stars N75 is Body Only in Black
The N75 is a great new camera from Nikon which is really a small step down from the N80 in features and performance. The small body size is similar to the N55 and is easy to handle with well placed controls and dials. The build quality is typical Nikon and quite solid. There are subtle extras, such as depth of field preview, that seem to be omitted from most SLRs these days. And the metal lens attachment is a nice upgrade from the plastic versions on my previous "entry level" cameras from Canon and Nikon. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic camera, but not for everyone
I'm amazed by some of the negative reviews on this camera. The FM3a is a fully manual camera. While it does take batteries, it's intended to be completely usable with no batteries. I can't think of another 35mm camera with all these features that will still work at all shutter speeds of the batteries die.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the reasons I will never stray away from Nikon
Most camera manufactuers don't even offer a manual focus camera, and their lens mount changed during the autofocus era, but the FM3A is an example of Nikon's loyalty to "old school" diehards. There's some automation that makes life much easier- Aperture priority, TTL flash, and it reads the DX coding on the film so you don't have to set it manually. It's built very well and can stand up to rugged use. The black costs about $20 more than the silver, but I don't mind paying extra for the "pro" look.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of Nikon's Best Cameras
The Nikon FM3A is the camera Nikon should have made back in the 1980's. It combines the aperture priority automation of the Nikon FE2 with the manual only ease of operation of the Nikon FM series. Indeed, if the batteries should die, this camera should still work at virtually all shutter speeds under manual mode. It is also blessed with the traditional Nikon 60/40 center-weighted metering found in many of Nikon's manual cameras, dating from the last Nikkormats. It handles as well as its illustrious predecessors, but here, I think it is built so that it can be more durable than either the FE or FM cameras. In short, it is an excellent second body for someone seeking a durable backup to go with their Nikon F2A/AS, Nikon F3, F4 or current autofocus cameras. And for others interested primarily in working with Nikon's manual focusing lenses, it may be their primary body. Admittedly, it isn't cheap, but it is designed to be a professional workhorse and the price seems to reflect it. If I was still using Nikon equipment, I wouldn't hesitate adding the FM3A to my SLR kit. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera
This is a great little camera for an amateur photographer looking to get a little more advanced with a manual camera. It allows you to manage your own aperature, shudder-speed, and focus, but is able to switch to automatic mode, and manages these settings itself. Also, if you spring for an auto-focus lens (not that much more), the camera will focus on the subject for you. Read more
