For the price it's a really nice camera
I was looking for a reasonably priced digital camera, and came across the Samsung Digimax A503. The price was right, in fact better than what I thought for a 5 megapixel camera, and all the previous reviews pointed to a really good product.

I love this camera! I'd been saving up for a digital camera for awhile and finally found one at a good price. There are 3 colors to choose from, red, black, and silver. (I got black because Walmart didn't carry silver for some reason.) The 5 MP makes for great quality photos. For once I have something better than my electronic-crazy dad! There are cool colors and frames that I use a lot, and even a feature that makes it possible to put up to four pics in one photo. I have this camera everywhere I go and can't wait to take it to Florida this week! For a great quality camera at a great price this is a user-friendly camera for all ages!

Nice little camera for teens
I bought this camera for my twin girls. They love it pictures are crisp. We take them in 5mp resolution and S fine. mode with a 1gb Sandisk Sd card. I was a little leary of this purchase. after reading mixed reviews from several different websites. However, I am pleasantly surprised at the details. It also has nice clip art to add to the photos. It has a mode composite. you cant take up to 4 different poses and print it out on one piece of photo paper. Perfect for the photgenic teenager. Just purchased today need to explore the movie mode sound? I am so far satisfied. You will not be disappointed in this low end camera. If you really need it for the video function. A Sleeper Among Digicams!
I must agree with the first reviewer, Steve Smart.This is really a sleeper of a cam about which few know or to which fewer still pay any serious attention.No, it's not a branded big name, but Samsung is gradually making their name heard in the digicam world with their most recent offerings, stylistic, and very functional designs.

My Best Camera Ever
I have had a couple of cameras (sony dsc models) in the past and have been looking for one that will just suite my taste in the long run. Looking for size, picture quality, media functionality, Wow! this camera does it all. For its size, I would say, anyone should go out and get this camera. The only drawback I would say is the 2GB max. SD card input and the fact that the battery dies quickly when using the PMP mode very often.

Great Machine
This is a great recorder.It's hardly bigger than a cell phone and easy to use.I am a moderately knowledgeable tech user but by no means as wrapped up in it as the general pop and I didn't really need any instruction.I bought it to record my children (parenting is an extreme sport) and I have no complaints.I wanted a memory option that wasn't dependent on my PC and that didn't put me thousands in the hole buying multiple CDs with low recording time and an internal HD seems like an expensive way to get to know the manufacturers service capabilities.The built in memory on the sanyo has about an hours worth of capacity, when it's full I transfer to a DVD (on my Sanyo DVD player/recorder) and I have the option of dumping it onto an external card.Then I erase the internal memory and get on with it.I carry it around in my pocket and when something worth recording happens, I'm ready to go.If I wanted to record for more than an hour, I guess I could bring along a few memory cards.The draw back: i don't think that camera has a timer (no pictures with dad, boo, hoo).
GOOD FOR WHAT IT IS
I have been thinking of buying a new video camera, but I really wanted the ability to have a helmet cam for catching the action from my motorcycle and ATV. This unit fit the bill perfectly, since a separate helmet cam for my DV camera is approximately $300.

This Camcorder is pretty good for a novice and I think it is worth every cent spent. Although the idea of taking still pics using this will be a bit far fetched but the quality of the video images is good. This is the best choice for a person who is a novice and wants to have his/her first camcorder.

Solid.
After using this camera for a little while, I can say that the picture quality was better than I expected after reading some other reviews. It struggles just a little bit if there's a lot of contrast in the image in that the picture is just a wee bit dark. The menu system is fairly intuitive and the LCD is huge. On the downside, the LCD is huge and therefore more susceptible to damage in addition to draining the two AA's faster. It is certainly a rare breed of `wider-angle' 28mm point-and-shoot digital cameras that also takes AA batteries. It doesn't automatically power up into transfer mode when you plug in the USB cable like my Canon S60 did. The Samsung also makes you pick if you're connecting to a PC or printer after you turn it on and it detects the USB cable. The test I ran trying the Macro mode looked okay, except they were blurry without the flash, and too bright with it. It does feel like it takes a little bit longer than other cameras to focus and ready itself on targets. There is no standard viewfinder, so there's no way to shut off the display to conserve energy.

Wide angle zoom a big selling point
This is a decent small camera whose wide angle ability is its major selling point.The body is compact and sturdy, the controls simple, and all it has a very handy easy to use design. The drawbacks are a somewhat harsh flash and the fact that it takes AA batteries, which means it goes through them at quite a clip. Get rechargeables if you get this camera: the wide angle is irrisistable for scenery, so you'll wind up using it a lot.

I got this camera a couple of weeks ago. I'm a teen, and my mom made me spend my own money for the camera and the rechargeable batteries. So I needed something affordable, but well worth my money!!!! After spending days and days of researching, with absolutely NO help from any siblings or parents, I decided to get this camera. I urge you to see the pictures other members of Amazon have uploaded, to see the great clarity you get with these pictures.

used and abused
I teach video production at a San Diego high school, and bought six of these for the class.After seven months of the kids use and abuse, all but one camera are working perfectly.The kids are extremely rough on the cameras in spite of my best efforts, and I'm astonished that they continue to function so well.The one camera with problems has a broken screen, no doubt from abuse, but is still functional using the viewfinder.I'm confused about the complaints on battery life, with my kids leaving the cameras on for an hour without problems.A nice feature that may not matter to most people is the microphone input, which is not standard on most inexpensive cameras, but very useful in getting good audio during an interview situation.The picture is not the best, but very adequet for the projects the students do, which are shown on a 34 inch TV.Overall the camera is an amazing bargain, and built to last.

I actually got a scdc163 but amazon doesnt have it
ive been saving up for the scdc163 for a long time and when i got it i was very satisfied w/ it. it has very good quility and outstanding zoom. its easy to use and is compact. its so compact that my hands can easly hold it,and im 11! its cool lookin! unlike other mini dvd camcorders. ive had no problems w/ it other then to wait for it to charge to try it out when i first got it.

I read these reviews after i had purchased this camera. I was very afraid of the results. After a weekend of use i could not find a reason to hate the camera. I was able to finalize and unfinalize my dvd-rw many times during testing without any issues. I will say in low light it does not record as well, you can play with the settings and find what works best, this is a issue with all or most cameras. Wonderful camera under USA censorship
I did not see any info for i5 camera and would never know about its existence - do USA magazines censor this camera?I needed a camera to take quick shots of small objects at work. After extensive search, I found i5 sold only in 2 places. Strange? This is free market? Anyway, as i5 is mentioned and praised in US "news" like much worse cameras are mentioned and praised, I feared i5 might be something bad, not worth attention, "lemon" product. Well, I purchased i5 as badly needed for work. Once I started doing pictures, I realized it is perfect camera for me and my co-workers and friends. I regularly share i5 with people around me. i5 takes very good pictures and has amazing macro capability - you can take pictures from as close as 1cm. I took a picturte of menu in restaurant and was shocked to see such fine detail like dots on menu that make specific colors. YES, I can see each dot individually, its shape and color - on printed menu in restaurant! i5 takes pictures without showing big barrel lens that tells everybody you are making zoom in. This camera is ALWAYS very thin. I use pro camera otherwise, that is very heavy and big - and takes near perfect pictures. Still, I love i5 and am very happy with it and take it almost everywhere I go.Peter

I'm on camera #3 now because of shutter problems....
I bought this camera in January 2006.Used it for about 2 weeks and the shutter started sticking, opening occasionally, then not at all. Exchanged it hoping it was just that camera.Now I'm taking the second camera back 4 months later, it started in with shutter problems, not opening again.I thought maybe it was related to battery life...so today I went on an event, the camera was on the charger all night, battery shows full, took one photo and when I turn the camera off, it doesn't close or sticks half closed.Now I'm back to the store where I purchased it, don't know if I can get another brand camera or if I'll be on #3.I love the camera other than that aspect of it.Don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone else, I am VERY disappointed with it.

I had it repaired within 1st month bought it.The image was distorted, and there are many dark horizontal lines through.The service center was prompted though, they told me something wrong with the lens barrel, and had it fixed on the same day.But then 1 month after the repair, similar problem came back.There are many dark horizontal lines, and image is over-exposed.I'm gonna send in for another repair soon.Although the features are good, I don't think the quality is good, especially there are a lot of image noise when taking pictures in the dark.Also, it's quite noisy when you zoom in and out.The image is quite blur at night. ... I give this one 4 out of 5 stars.The video quality is excellent in brightly-lit conditions, but in the dark, the video is virtually nonexistent.There is no built-in light and no place to hook up a flash, so this makes the camera almost useless at night.

TERRIBLE!
This camera is terrible.The flash is slow, the battery dies very quickly.And the picture quality when printing them out is horrible.They are always blotchy.When I called about this problem they said that you have to change the camera to 3 MP mode in order to get decent pictures.But that still didnt work.I would not reccommend this camera.

Great Camera
I also bought this camera at a local department store except on clearance...for 34.00 I thought it must be a flop..no it is excellent and bythe time i got the rechargable batteries at the clearance price of the camera i am still well under 80.00 for the camera and batteries.
