5-0 out of 5 stars Low maintenance, good printer
I've had my i550 for several years now.Works great.I like only changing ink for the colors that are used.It never refuses to print based on counting print jobs (a problem that I had with an Epson). No issues with the quality of print.

5-0 out of 5 stars canon printer i550
I got my i550 printer more than 3 years ago and never had any problem with it; the printing is as clear as it was from day one [maintenance helps]. Although "old tech." by today standard, I highly recommend it for home use. I will not part with mine until it dies on me. Long live the "i550".

5-0 out of 5 stars ALMOST 2 YEARS & GOING STRONG
I have read some other reviews that stated after a year or 15 months they began having problems with this printer. I have had mine for almost 2 years and no problems encountered yet; and I use it alot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and Faithful Printer
I've had two of these babys for several years now and they never cease to put out great copy, whether b&w or photos. I have no idea why others are disappointed (probably the same dude) but mine work great and it's sooooo quiet. Do the print heads ever clog??? Sure, like all printers without built-in printheads in their ink cartridges (which cost way more). I had two HP's and they always printed poorly except on the HP high quality paper. These printers print great on a grocery bag. If the head gets gunked up do what every other normal person does... boil some distilled water in a sauce pot and swirl the head around in it several times, but don't get the electronics wet. Works every time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good,
My mom's friend had this printer for some time now. and he gave the printer to her to give to me. So when I got it. I didn't have the installment CD so I went to canon's site and they had software to use for it for free! Alright so I got it all installed, Got new ink or it (since the old ones where empty) and I started it up for the first time in forever! I print something and it came out really swell for an older printer. I was pretty happy with the results for an older printer. I have had no problems with it so far. only thing I am not to happy with is sometimes grey looks kinda green. I am not sure if that's something in genral or what.. But it's kinda nasty. >.<

1-0 out of 5 stars at first you'll be happy, then you'll be mad
When the printer is new and loaded with fresh ink and prints on *Canon* brand photo paper, prints come out great. Take a month or two off from your photo hobby and try again. Presto. Your color ink tanks have dried up - time to shell out $35. Try to print something out a few weeks later. Presto. Your blank ink tank is empty - time to by another. Try using any other brand of photo paper - crappy prints - you must by expensive Canon photo paper. A few weeks/months later, try to print with fresh tanks - zippo. The print head is clogged - buy a new one for $150... no chuck the S520 and buy a new not-Canon printer. But first, try soaking the print head in some isopropyl alcohol overnight, dry thoroughly, and see if it works. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Black jet quit just after a year
Bought this printer to replace my old Lexmark printer that lasted about 4 years. Just after a year of printing with the Canon, I would say I did well under 100 prints, the black jet just quit on me.
2-0 out of 5 stars Printer Wears Out!
I had this printer for about a year, and I bought it at a very good price (after a mail-in rebate) and I must say that even with the significantly reduced price it was still not worth the money. The print quality does go down dramatically after the 1 year mark and my printer just stopped working (or printed in horrible green tints).

2-0 out of 5 stars OK for 6 months, then, caput-
After adjusting for how pink this printer printed photos (had to take the Magenta setting to -15), it was OK for about 6 months. Now, every photo prints incredibly pink. I take photographs of art for a major collection here in Boston. Color matching is very important in my prints. This printer is horrible. By by. Im going to HP.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money
I purchased this printer two years ago and 1t produced excellent results for the first year. The color quality slowly began to diminsh after that time and eventually required that I perform the head cleaning process before each printing job.I finally received an error message that instructed me that a major malfunction had taken place and to contact customer service.I was then instructed to either ship the unit in for service or consider a new unit. The manufactured would not tell me what the suspected problem was however suggested that it could be the printing head.I believe that not using the printer on a regular bases caused the heads to plug up beyond what the normal deep cleaning process could correct. My advice to anyone who buys into the Canon ink tank system, be sure to print a test page daily and perform the head cleaning process weekly.I don't believe I will own another Canon printer for this reason.

5-0 out of 5 stars Have a Canon i950 and i960 - Both Great Machines

4-0 out of 5 stars It is a very nice Printer / Copier
Thanks to the other comments, I was able to order a toner cartridge online at the same time I purchased this item and both the printer and cartridge showed up at the same time in (2 days). So far I am very pleased with the purchase, and I am not easily pleased. It copies and prints very clear. The copies are better than the original. I purchase a remanufactured machine at 129.00. My only concern is the warranty, besides the 90 day limited warranty, you are not offered the option to purchase a extend warranty, why not? If it is suppose to be as good as new you would think they would warranty it. Even though I probably would not of purchased the warranty for a 129.00 dollar item, but it would be a little reassuring to know they do stand behind the condition of the product. I guess only time will tell. Besides that I am happy with the product, so far........

5-0 out of 5 stars Suprised by quality
Got the copier about two months ago. Was at first leery of remanufactured product but being on a limited budget decided to try it. It is great! Please be sure to buy toner cartridge and printer cable. They are not included but because of the incredible price I would not have expected it! Enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars cartridge W?

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Photos -Fast - high quality!
I bought this printer a year ago and am just writing a review as it has stood the test of time. I had previously only used epson printers, but as I go thru spurts of printing found that their ink cartridges clogged if not used regularly. The PIXMA IP8500 absolutly does not do this!!!!
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pictures, High Ink Costs
Spectacular photo quality, extremely quiet. Intuitive yet versatile software, and the ink jets self-clean reliably. Also, fairly fast, even in High Quality mode all in an attractive package. Another very nice feature is that it does true automatic two-sided printing, though this is cryptically referred to as "Duplex" printing in the setup. Eight is a lot of $10. ink cartridges to replace, but only a few are used up quickly. Those few, especially black, are used up very quickly, to the point of being annoying. Having another, cheaper printer for black printing might be smart, but who has the space for that.
5-0 out of 5 stars Been waiting for a printer this good
All I can say is WOW.The print quality on this printer really blew me away.I didn't think it was possible to get photo quailty this good in my own house.Prints come out better than when I send them out.

5-0 out of 5 stars awesome
I bought this printer for 1 thing only: to print text which I do a lot of. 1 word-AWESOME. Cheap ink; i only replace the black since I'm only printing text. About 7-8 dollars; probably can get it cheaper if I shop around on the internet. Not thirsty. Reliable as hell. Supercheap printer. I occasionally clean the inkjet heads, etc. but barely spend any time on maintenance. It maybe a little slow on the warmup and a little noisy for some but I don't think so. I use XP by the way. I think I got it for 25 bucks with rebate. Hey, for that price.

2-0 out of 5 stars It prints... but it could be better
The main drawback of this printer is Canon's design for getting ink to the print head.Because the ink has to seep through a sponge to get to the print head, the amount of ink flow is limited. For instance, if you were to print something that had, say, heavy black in one area, it would print okay for the first few lines, but much more than that and it'll start leaving blank streaks across your paper where there wasn't enough ink to feed the print head... effectively ruining your print. Also, it seems that the print heads get dirty quickly, as I have to run the print head cleaning program about once every two weeks.

5-0 out of 5 stars BJC 3000 printer is a tremendous value
I think some of the reviews for this printer are misleading. For the money, this is a terrific printer. It is very versatile and prints at a nice speed with exceptional resolution for a 1440 dpi inkjet printer.Higher resolution for most people is not needed because their eyes are not that good. This printer does a very acceptible job on photos and can not be beat for nice clear crisp text. You can spend three or four time the money on other printers and not get what you get with a BJC 3000.Canon consistently produces fine products.Worth every dollar.

1-0 out of 5 stars There is a defect with BJC-3000!
I bought this printer about a year ago, and it worked OK except large noise (even not in printing). The printer started working abnormally since last week. Every time I clicked "print", the computer was forced to restart and "printing" was stopped in the middle. I checked all relevant softwears, as well as tech support from Canon, and didn't find anything wrong. In the end, I gave up. I bought an Epson printer, and it works great in my computer. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A great buy!
I've had my Canon S400 for four years and I'd rate it as one of the best budget printers on the market. It's fast, reliable and cheap to operate thanks to individual ink tank cartridges that can be bought separately when one color runs out.The text it prints out is clear and crisp and the quality of graphics on just plain paper is excellent.
3-0 out of 5 stars It worked fine for about a year with little or no problems--
then it started showing those "orange" lights indicating a paper jam. There isn't any!!!I have done everything possible to get it working correctly, including re-installing the drivers.Nothing works - all I get is the green and orange flashing lights.I'm ready to toss it.I was pleased with it at first because it was very economical and easy to use.I can't figure out what happened to it!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good basic printer
I got this printer after going through two Epson printers over the years. The Epson printers, both top rated in consumer mags, often produced messy pages with smeared ink. I had to constantly run the cleaning utility. The cartridges on the Epsons also clogged all the time. The same thing happened to my sister's Epson. Too much trouble for a basic printer. Getting back to Canon--this printer has been great. No clogged cartridges or messy pages. One thing--I seem to get better printed text when I select graphic rather than text for the type of print mode. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Prints but problematic print head
The Canon S900 is awesome with color photo prints. It is very fast with great detail. At the highest print setting, it is very difficult to find any pixels like you would normally find on cheap printers. Prints look like they were purchased from a photo lab. I have had this printer for almost two years but the print head went out on me recently. Canon sells a replacement print head for $70.00 but you also need to include tax and shipping which will make it over $80.00. At this price, it makes sense to purchase a new printer since you can get a decent printer these days for $100.00. If you are considering this printer, you should check out newer models especially the HPs since they are now receiving some of the highest ratings from Consumer Reports and Cnet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Printer for the Money
I have had my S900 for more that a year and during that time I have printed over 2000 8.5 x 11 color photos with this printer. The print head will clog from time to time , but running it under warm tap water and allowing it to dry has always fixed the problem. I love this printer, Ink cost about $2.00 a color. For a cost of about $12.00 you can replace all the ink cartridges in this printer, try that with other brands. I have had good results using Kodak Photo Paper in this printer.

5-0 out of 5 stars An absolutely terrific printer, but VERY ink-hungry
I have had this printer for well over a year. So far, the only single complaint I could possibly make of it is that it chews threw ink cartridges like gumballs. I don't print all that much, but when I do, I print a lot. It seems like I am getting five to seven full-page ultra-high resolution prints from a set of cartridges before they run dry. The images themselves are absolutely breathtaking (if you have a good source and mod the internal printer setting to optimize your medium). However, the unit seems to use quiet a bit of ink just turning on. Even setting it to print grayscale seems to use color ink (? shading perhaps ?).

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice quality color prints
I have had this now for almost 4 years and it still works perfect. I probably printed over 200 photos already and 100's of business cards without errors. 2-0 out of 5 stars The Printhead is Dead!
At a time when technology has advanced color printing quality, customer service just has not kept up. Canon, maker of some of the finest optical equipment in the world, has used advanced technology to produce a printer capable of amazing color print quality. The photos glow. Paper selection is critical as is the use of OEM inks. Black & white printing is just not on the same par as the color. This must be a driver issue in that the black rendering on the prints looks great. I contacted Canon on this issue and got the run around. Here is where the enthusiasm gets trampled. I don't use this printer much as I have access to several laser units at work for critical and big jobs. When I do use it, I try to pool a set of color or plain text prints into one lot as this beast really sucks up the ink like an overweight SUV sucks gas. The evaporation rate on the inks is rapid as part of the quick dry feature. Canon does not warn you that idleness is costly. That being said, I have printed approximately 1 ream of paper on this, most either in draft or standard mode, and only around 35% of the pages being full page printouts. I have gone through about twenty 8 x 10 gloss photos, 1 t-shirt transfer and 6 of the new 4 x 6 Photo Paper Plus Glossy. This unit is on its 4th black ink tank, 3rd set of color tanks. The unit sat idle after our recent move to our new home for about 2.5 months. Upon setting up the unit again, I noticed a marked decrease in quality. I followed the deep head cleaning several times, regular cleaning cycle a few times, realigned the heads and adjusted everything per instructions and even installed new ink. The unit will not print anything but the faintest gray when the call is for black bold. The cleaning sucked dry the entire 69.00 ink tank set, installed new, no success. Contacted Canon who informed me to perform several more deep cleanings - sucked down 3 of the 6 tanks in the process and still no better. They are now telling me it is the printhead. But relax, it can be replaced for 100.00. Canon refused to help. So, long story short and lesson learned. Unit sucks down the ink as fast as a drunk at a free beer concert, is rather on the noisy side and has cost me more in ink to print say 500 pages and a few photos than the original cost of the printer. If I add in new tanks and a new printhead, the cost of ownership for this unit would reach 1.00 a page for black printing. This unit, after its very short lifespan, will be replaced with a HP. Canon needs to learn more about customer support and more importantly, customer relations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, but.....
The printer prints some of the finest photos I've ever printed. However, the printhead went out after two years; I replaced it and the new printhead only lasted about 45 days. I can't afford the printheads and labor charges, so I'm thinking of getting another (not S800) as I don't know if the printheads are a common problem. ... Read more

I have this Canon BJC 2000 printer, received it as a gift and it worked fine for a short time but than became a real headache, an absolute nightmare and I see by reading these reviews that I'm not the only one who had problems with this printer. The printer worked good for a short time but then the nightmare of paper jams, lousy print, etc began. You try and print something and the printer totally screws up and you get lines that are so bad you can't read the words or it will start printing then shoot the paper out as if it finished printing or needed two pages and half of the recipe or whatever you are trying to print will come out with half of the print missing or blurry or wih lines through it so to get a decent print you wind up wasting a lot of ink and paper and it just gets worse and worse. I like the review by the guy who also dislikes this printer and said he would like to shoot his Canon with a cannon. I wouldn't mind shooting my Canon with a cannon either and actually I would like to put this Canon printer in a catapalt and hurl it into the town dump!

2-0 out of 5 stars BJC = Bad Junky Canon
I really don't like this printer. Though, it's good in some ways. The printer doesn't use that much ink, so you don't have to buy printer ink very often. Plus, it does a quite good job cleanig itself.
3-0 out of 5 stars Okay
This printer isn't that bad.I've had it for three years, and use it a lot to print out photos and graphics. The printer head died once, I believe a year and a half ago.If you set it on high quality it will print decent, almost photo quality pictures. The only problem is that it's a really slow printer, the printer head dying, and the ink can run up fast when you print on high quality. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Was good, but now dead
This printer died in less than 2 years - the printhead doesn't work anymore and replacements are about $70, about the cost of a new printer. This is the weakness with Canon's method of reusing the printhead and just replacing the ink.If you want a long-lasting printer, get an HP where you replace the printhead along with the ink.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great printer
This is a great printer, which is probably why Canon stopped making it. There are no special print cartridges needed to print photos. I used photo paper and the regular cartridges and made great photos. This was the mistake of Canon, they made an inexpensive printer that would print photos cheaply and realized they were going to lose a bunch of money not selling photo cartridges. Hopefully they will make another printer like this. The printing is very fast, almost as fast as my laser, quiet, and of exceptional quality. If you can find it buy it, you won't regret it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Its a nice printer
But over time the quality of the pictures printed seemed to drop. Nice printer while it lasted though. Although compared to the printers of today its slow and has no USB port so you'd be better off without it anyway.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good printer by all means
I bought the BJC 6000 in mid of 1999 ... I am happy I invested so much money on it. It work very well. With the photo ink and top photo paper, I can have close to real prints. All the limitation is the image itself. The money I spent on inks has exceed the [amount] for the printer itself.4-0 out of 5 stars Three years with the Canon BJC6000
i've had my canon bjc-6000 for three years now. as of today, it's finally crapped out on me. i have tried everything to fix it (performed all the maintenance, cleaning, etc.) and nothing. so, i've opted to buy a canon i850, which i've heard good things about.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars sales team loves them
I purchased 4 refurbished bjc-80 printers for our sales force. They love the ability to go onsite and print a contract while in front of the customer. When used with ink jet paper the output is great. Our reps are using these printers with the infrared port on their compaq laptops, which works great. Only problem is the infrared communications is a little slower than a printer cable, so it seems to slow the prining down 10 or 15%... all in all a excellent value that i recommend to anyone who needs a portable printer with excellent output and great portability.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this printer!
This is the most frustrating printer I've owned. It's print quality is OK, but the paper handling is a disaster. It feeds two or more pages at once, jams, and then smudges. If you try to print a document longer than three pages, you need to do it one at a time or it's sure to jam. It also is very slow for the first page. There is no excuse for Canon selling such a dog.

When I first purchased the S450 it worked well. Then about 3 months later, the feeder began feeding 2+ sheets through at the same time.I exchanged that unit with Canon and within 1 month I started have the same problem with an added twist, ink smuge.Take my advice, RUN LIKE HELL WHEN YOU SEE THIS PRINTER ON SALE!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I love it :)
The LR1 print station is just great!!Have had it a few months and no probs. Not only is it easy to use, hook up and load..but you DO NOT have to clean the print heads. It is done automatically. The printing quality is very good for a set top box printer although it can also be used with a computer. The ink is not as expensive as it is for other similar printers. Also using decent quaility paper produces nice results. Matter of fact Canon does not recommend use of special coated paper for printing which is more expensive. The LR1 is sleekly sized and very good looking. NOT another dragon-sized piece of equipment that will add UGLY to your home :)I am VERY pleased with this product!!! (Nowadays it is difficult to say this about most things on the market since they are poorly/carelessly manufactured.) Thank you Canon!! ... Read more
