5-0 out of 5 stars After 2 years of use, its STILL a 5 star printer
I've had my i9900 for almost two years now.I've printed everything from 4x6 glossy prints to 13x19 fine art prints on matte paper. The short review:This printer is amazing.Read on for a longer review.
1-0 out of 5 stars Great if you only want it for a year
I bought this printer and it was great for a year. The photo printing quality was excellent. It was fast etc. Then it died, Canon service misdiagnosed the burnt board as a power supply issue first then wanted $300 for the repair. Others have reported the same here and elsewhere. Buyer beware on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely great printer
This is an amazing printer. It is very easy to set up (takes about 10 minutes) and performs almost instantly.I have a mac and I'm always skeptical about adding new printer drivers, but this worked out easily enough.I'm sure it does work, but the firewire connection on my computer didn't read the printer. However, it worked like a charm when I plugged in the USB cable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, fine printer.
It is exactly what I expected in that, I wanted a printer with the simplest function and inexpensive.
2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for...
I bought this printer because I wanted high quality photo printing and I didn't need any of the bells and whistles that come with more expensive printers. It's a Canon, so I figured I could count on the photo quality. I was terribly disappointed though. I generally buy Staples brand photo paper for general photo printing, and it always worked fine with my Epson printer. But my first prints on this printer looked dull and muddy -- like I was looking at the images though a mild but annoying grey/brown haze. So I went out and bought Canon paper instead. The quality was somewhat improved, but still not what I had expected. So yes, I got a printer for under $30, but now to get even passably OK prints, I need to spend a fortune on Canon brand inks and paper. Not much of a bargain.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great printer, but mine jammed and broke in 2 mos.
Awesome printer, awesome price.I'd give it 5 stars if it didn't jam and become unusable. If no one else had this problem, then maybe it's random and normal. The thing is, this printer was so cheap, it doesn't bother me too much.Oh, and it works great with Mac. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent printer, look no further!
I just purchased this printer last night and was stunned at the image quality. Granted, I shoot with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi which produces amazing pictures at 10 megapixels, but this printer lives up to those great shots and prints brilliant pictures. I am surprised at the previous reviewer's comment about not being as good as Costco printing. I've also doneall my printing there and I would say this is as good, if not better than Costco. This could be due to using high quality Canon paper, but looking at some of these shots, I can't honestly imagine them getting any better. I know Canon has a new 9500 printer coming out in the spring that will do up to 13 inch wide paper, but I couldn't wait and going to Costco all the time was getting annoying, as convinient as it really is. I am so glad I spent what I consider to be a very reasonable amount of money (130 dollars) on this printer, now I'll only be going to Costco for the 12x18's. The printer is VERY easy to use. I printed right off the Compact Flash card using the printer's on-board screen and did plenty of cropping and trimming to make the shots perfect and centered. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow. I was printing perfectly within 15 minutes of opening the box. The screen and menus make it so easy and convinient, I haven't even needed to use the computer to print yet. I would highly recomend this printer to anyone who wants stunning prints up to 8.5x11, you will not be dissapointed, it's truly a top-notch printer!

2-0 out of 5 stars Red color problem
The photo output of this printer is really quite good except for one GLARING problem - the overwhelming redness of flesh tones.A lot of pictures of the baby are coming out like he's scalded or badly sunburned. This leads to a tremendous waste of paper and ink, not to mention effort in trying to adjust for this problem.Even a call to Canon TS didn't solve anything.Apparently, I'm not the only one with this problem.I would love to return this printer if I could...Too bad I stocked up on a bunch of Canon paper already.Any suggestions for a fix (besides the usual calibration, red tone slider, etc.)?I would love to try the MP series, but this experience has really soured me on Canon printers (I love their digital cameras though - bought 3 within the last year).
5-0 out of 5 stars CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THEN THIS!!!!!!!!!!
I love it...The print quality is amazing looking. Im very pleased with the print plus color quality of pictures. If you're buying a printer for the first time i would highly recommend a canon but also this one because you will love it! I have alse compared prints from ordering online from a store to my new Canon PIXMA iP6600D and of course the pictures i have printed at home are even much more better looking, ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeds ALL expectations!!!
In this day and age of the marketing machine, many products abound in the market place that promises much more than they deliver.I am aware of this marketing machine that hypes up products, and have been extremely cautious as a consumer. That being said, I am extremely happy with this printer.
5-0 out of 5 stars premium performance (@ premium price)
I've been using the Epson R2400 for about 6 weeks now.I am extremely impressed and very satisfied with the quality of output from this printer. My work has been both (mostly) color and B&W.Output has ranged from 4x6 to 13x19.Borderless & not over this range.I have been using Moab Entrada 190 Natural paper almost exclusively with the printer.I've been using Epson K3 inks.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent printer
Absolutelybeautiful prints! Ink is a bit expensive but there are ways around that. I like being able to print in large sizes with such clarity and accuracy. I've always liked Epson printers; I just wish they'd make a removable print head for easier cleaning. If the print head becomes clogged; that's it! I'd suggest printing a least once every other day to keep it up to snuff. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Beware of tech support on installation of this device...they will wipe out your pc!
Upon receiving this item along with the IP90 printer I had no idea where it should be installed into the printer. The printer was brand new and I no clue so I called tech support and one guy had no idea where to install it and he was actually getting frustrated with me because he wanted to just brush me off and get off the call asap but I wasnt having it after spending over $500 on a printer and its bluetooth and other accessories. The 2nd tech support guy was a bit better at handling the call but had me do some things here and there and because I was already tired and frustrated I wasnt paying attention and the end result was a completly disabled pc.The tech guy had me uninstall the printer and software and somewhere in between the computer wasnt able to boot back up to windows at all.I spent the next month reinstalling everything from scratch. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars just okay
Overall, seems to work well for the price. I've had a few problems though. 1) Often the printer says it doesn't "recognize" an ink cartridge (one that came with the printer originally) and I have to turn it off and on again to get it to work. 2) I haven't figured out how to print on legal size paper... I think maybe it's not possible.3) Color quality is just so-so even on photo paper. I had a better experience with my old Epson that lasted me almost 10 years.
1-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE RELIABILITY
Even though I have used my printer (a Pixma 5000) very lightly, it jams regularly on Canon photo paper and then spills ink everywhere. Today it went into "service error 5700" and it doesn't work any more, even after rebooting it five times.
3-0 out of 5 stars NICE PRINTER BUT ONE BOTHERSOME FLAW ...
I recently bought this printer from Amazon, generally like it, but it has one problem: when I have not used printer for a time (1 - 7 days, this problem more likely & severe the longer it has been) colors are often very bad, eg no red at all, sometimes no red and no yellow, on first page or 2 that I print. After 1-2 pages everything works fine until printer is unused for another few-day period. This problem always leaves me the choice of reprinting 1 or 2 pages (spending precious time and draining expensive ink) or accepting a lousy looking printout.Note there may be a fix out there, I am too lazy/busy to hunt it down. And if you are running this printer long and hard, on a daily basis, you will probably not experience this problem. But if you use printer only for small and occasional jobs (say a 4 page job 3 times a week) I think this printer is a bad choice, you can probably get more dependable quality from a less expensive printer. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars 4x6 photo printer

1-0 out of 5 stars POOR RESOLUTION AND SPEED
THIS PRODUCT IS GOOD IN THEORY ONLY!! EVEN AT THE HIGHEST PHOTO QUALITY, THE PRINTED IMAGES ARE VERY GRAINY (USING A 6MP CAMERA).
2-0 out of 5 stars Very unhappy with this
The printing quality is good, but that's the only positive thing I can say. There's no place to leave paper in the printer, the indicator about which side of the paper to have in the "up" position is misleading, leading two a complete mess as you waste ink printing the wrong side of the paper.Even worse, it only allows you to plug in proprietary devices: Try to plug your USB storage device or any non-Canon device into it and it tells you it's incompatible.I got a $[...] rebate and it's still not worth it. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Slow and unreliable
I have had this printer for almost four years now, and while it has saved my bacon on the road a number of times, it has also really let me down at some crucial moments. First, like a lot of older Canon printers, it is noisy and slow. It takes forever to get started on a page. But also like a lot of canons, when it is working right the output is beautiful.
1-0 out of 5 stars Nice Paper Weight. Now where's my printer i ordered!
This would be a nice printer. If only I could get it to print! Not to mention when I turn it on it makes a god awful sound like some thing is jammed.I've tried over and over to try to print something.I've checked my options, turned it on and off and still it sits there not printing. If your looking for a portible printer you have other options and I suggest using them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor paper feed

3-0 out of 5 stars Good in many ways but also disappointing picture printing
I switched from an Epson when it stopped printing color properly, and I wanted a multi function inkjet for home use. Although I have liked my previous 2 Epsons, I decided against Epson because of a ribbon problem that occurs in various models (which happened to my husband's machine.) I also decided against HP because many consumer reviews mentioned paper jamming. Canon has very good reviews with Consumer Reports and on Amazon, and the price is very good.
5-0 out of 5 stars Canon PIXMA MP170 All-In-One Photo Printer Excellent
Easy setup, fast text printing, reasonable scanning/copying ... for the price, way exceeded my expectations for photo printing ... on good paper photos are very high quality!A great, bargain printer!

5-0 out of 5 stars canon printer
I am really happy with this printer.I have now had it for about 6 weeks. No problems so far.I think the printing quality for photos is great.I read the other reviews, which said that the photo quality left something to be desired, and I disagree. My only criticism is that it uses ink fast, so if you buy it, buy some ink refills at the same time.It seems to use up the color ink more quickly than the black.I also love the fact that it has a copier, which works great. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars OK but.....
I thought my old Epson all in one was slow but I think this is a close second....It goes thru all these gyrations just to print a page when I have printed a page just seconds before. It appears to be charging the ink but why this has to happen on almost every page is beyond me. And to copy you have to wait and wait also. I have to push the black "OK" button numerous times to get 1 page to print. AND....unless I use "fast print" there is so much ink on the paper that it smudges terribly. I'm still looking for a printer that was as reliable and fast as my old, old, old Epson 660 and I haven't found it yet. And HP is not the answer as I've discovered either.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality
This all-in-one printer has revolutionized my home office. For only $100, I have high quality printed documents, copies, scans and photos at home that exceed the capabilities of many small businesses.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great All-in-One
I'm a college student who prints mostly text.Nevertheless, after seeing the convenience of having an All-in-One, I'd recommend investing a little more in a printer with more functions.I purchased this printer after my Epson C84 clogged. After looking at some inkjets, I decided to order this Canon based on price and reliability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Enough about the cable already!
Let's burn this into our memory for future reference. When you buy a printer, YOU DON'T GET A CABLE. This is true even if you buy a new monitor! Simply use the cable your old one hooked up with and you're set. Now let's concentrate on reviewing the item in question instead of the peripherals!

1-0 out of 5 stars Driver and software incompatibilities?
Please Google "Print Queue problem iP5200." Exactly the same problem I experienced is described by some other unfortunate people. The problem is that after printing a job, it stays in Print Queue for several minutes, and the second job cannot be started immediately. Those who reported the problem on internet did not get any solution. Of course, they and I contacted Canon. Those who posted the problem on internet and I used the latest printer driver. I have Windows XP Home with all updates installed. The reviewers here didn't seem to have this serious problem. I don't know why a small number of people experience the problem. One person who reported the problem on internet reinstalled Windows system without solving the problem. I didn't go that far.
3-0 out of 5 stars Canon iP5200 Photo Printer
The printer is well made and functions well. Speed is good for both text and photos, even at high quality. My main complaint is that photos, especially poitraits, have a distinct reddish tint. It's difficult to remove the proper amount of cyan since the photos look perfect on the monitor. I've waisted way to much photo paper and still can't duplicate the image on the monitor. If anyone has an answer to this problem let me know please.

3-0 out of 5 stars Missing high cost items.
The printer, contrary to Amazon.com representation does NOT come with a starter print cartridge. If you want to use the printer, you will have to pay for a cartridge before you can test it out.The printer cannot be used on a lan connection without first purchasing a very expensive print router sold by Canon. The cost of the cartridge and router exceed the cost of the printer/copier. Otherwise the printer works well. ... Read more

This printer might just become your favorite home electronics component. The feature-rich PIXMA iP5200R Photo Printer can produce a beautiful photo lab quality 4" x 6" borderless print in about 36 seconds. Also, the ContrastPLUS five-color ink system--four dye-based inks and a pigment-based black ink--produces true-life photos with a wide color palette, along with laser-quality text. Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Exercise in frustration for low light pics--and very little control
This printer has been an exercise infrustration.I was very happy with our Epson 200R, but we used it to death and wanted to try an upgrade. I should have bought 2 more of the Epsons.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good printer so far
Despite what others have reported, I had no problems setting up the printer for both wired and wireless.I do recommend setting it up wired first. My 2nd computer prints via the DLink wireless router with no problems. The power button on the printer is pretty well hidden (black button on a black case) but I discovered the auto power on/off setting which works great, even with wireless.
5-0 out of 5 stars Quality and Speed
This printer is wonderful. The print quality is as good as you get through snapfish or similar digital processing companies - assuming you step up and buy good photo paper. The output speed is excellent in both color and black. The flexibilty of having two paper trays works well for me as I have the printer hidden away in a draw and connected wirelessly to my hub/router. The printer is larger than I expected but, really what's the big deal, if you want a smaller printer that's portable get a HP Deskjet 460bwt. Set up was a breeze - I'm running Mac OS 10.4.7 on a MacBook Pro. Great quality, great price and excellent flexibility with the wireless feature. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a text printer, for sure!
I bought this printer because it was exceedingly cheap after rebate. Big mistake. It MUST be a photo printer, because it certainly doesn't deliver on text. All text seems to be in shades of sepia, even at the darkest settings.
