Editorial Review

Why wait for the family to email photos to each other when you can print them instantly? The Sony DPP-FP30 pops out professional-quality photos quickly and easily, and it's compatible with both Windows-based PCs and PictBridge digital cameras. Speeds are a little faster when you're printing from your PC--you can expect 4-by-6-inch photo in about 90 seconds, compared to approximately 120 seconds from a digital camera's memory card. It'll only take a few clicks to make your photos look their best, thanks to the included imaging optimization software--reduce red eye, improve colors, or crop the edges. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best so far... by far!
Besides the expensive ink and paper (although value packs are available now), this little devil is a charm with a cherry on top!
2-0 out of 5 stars Great pictures but issues with product
This printer does print excellent pictures, but I've had it less than a year and had to send it in for cleaning already, which I had to pay the shipping. The utility that they used to clean it is impossible for the consumer to access, so you have to send it in.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great little photo printer
Pictures are shape and the color is crisp and defined. It was easy to use and the price was right. I took about 1/2 minute for each picture to print. I'm a novice at photo printing and I had no problem. I highly recommend this device. You won't be disappointed. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Printing Machine
I bought the Sony Digital Photo Printer (DPP-SV77) about a year ago with the intention of using it for all my 3-0 out of 5 stars worth the money if you don't want to mess with a PC
We bought the DPP-SV77 because we recently had twins and wanted to make photos available immediately for friends and family. Our printer for our PC just wasn't up to the job. This printer has some legitimate problems but does a credible job if you don't mind some oversaturation on your color prints. The machine tends to put way too much red in photographs especially caucasian skin tones. Where the machine really shines is the black and white mode. Beautiful pictures! Great contrast, and an accurate grey scale. I also really like the ability to make wallet size prints. The manual is pretty exhaustive, to be honest I never read it. We use a sony digital camera with memory stick so compatibility is smooth and effortless. The controls are very intuitive and I found that while the flip up monitor wasn't terribly bright and often misleading (some menus are difficult to read, the colors on the monitor don't reflect your end result) it was still nice not needing to be hooked up to a PC. Overall, it was worth the money for us, it does what we wanted it to do. However, because of the color "problem" and the fact that there is a finite size you can make a print (4 X 6) if I take some really good color pictures that I want to blow up or frame I'll be taking my business to a professional printer.

4-0 out of 5 stars Glorious prints, implementation a bit clunky
I bought the DPP-SV77 because I wanted a way to take my digicam media (CompactFlash) directly from the camera and make prints without using a PC. While the DPP can be connected to a computer, the built-in LCD makes this really unnecessary.Read more

You may never again have to wait for photo processing. Sony's snapshot photo printer prints directly from your digital camera; no PC is required. Simply insert Memory Stick media (or other removable flash media with an optional PC card adapter) to view, adjust, and print pictures all by yourself. Slide Show mode allows you to flick right through your saved images, selecting only the best for printing; once this is accomplished, chose from economical 3-by-4.5-inch or professional-looking borderless 4-by-6-inch prints. Each one takes just 90 seconds and features outstandingly vivid color and precise detail.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Mac Users Avoid This Product!!!!
I used this printer for quite some time with my Pismo running OS 9.2. When I purchased a Powerbook G4 running OS X, this printer was obsolete, i.e. no drivers available. Sony was absolutely not interested in making a driver for this printer and could not care less about the customer STUCK with this pathetic piece of equipment.
5-0 out of 5 stars Some hints for getting the best output
This printer produces impressive output, although the colors have a little too much magenta. The resolution is specified as 403 dpi but to get a 1:1 pixel mapping from (say) photoshop you need to set the image resolution to 403.66 dpi.
1-0 out of 5 stars A great printer but for lack of a driver
I was delighted when my then-new Sony Digital Photo Printer DPP-SV77 worked on my Mac as advertised: bright, true colours printing in a reasonable amount of time...but when I upgraded to Mac OS X from OS 9.2.2, can you imagine how I felt when I discovered that Sony DOES NOT provide a printer driver for any version of OS X? I am unable to coax it to print in Classic (OS X's emulator for OS 9.x), and so the printer now lies in state on my desktop.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
I've been an avid amateur photographer for over 20 years, and I can tell you the prints from this printer are top notch and lab quality.
5-0 out of 5 stars Love this printer!!!
The print quality is awesome, I am using a Sony Cybershot 5 megapixel camera. I took it out of the box and loaded the paper, cartridge and memory stick and started printing right away! It has so many features. You can edit your pics right on your television then print. It has many editing features as well! My only concern is that it does't come with a USB cable, but that can always be purchased at a later time. Overall, this is an excellent photo printer.

1-0 out of 5 stars hard to find paper, paper jams all the time
Although the images are great, when you finally get it to work, the paper is always getting stuck. The paper was very difficult to find.Drivers are near impossible to find...Get the HP photosmart printer (the small one) and you will be thrilled, as I am

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures with a large hassle!!!
I got this photo printer because i love to make my own pictures, give them to friends and have the ability to make the pictures that i want. The picture quality is amazing, exactly like getting them proccessed at a photo place. The huge downfall of this product is the fact that the printer cartridge and paper is almost impossible to get. I didn't mind at first that the paper could only be gotten on amazon, but about 2 months ago i ordered more paper and ink and they kept pushing back the date until they finally canceled my order. I have not been able to use my printer for 2 months! I suggest buying someone that doesn't have such specific ink and paper needed to work it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Photo Printer I've Worked With
I have the Kodak DX3500 digital camera and it's great to work with. I also have several printers, all HP.The problem with printing 4x6 pictures is that the paper doesn't always feed correctly.I have several friends who have HP inkjet printers and they all have the same problem. Can't tell you how much paper and how many cartridges I've gone through trying to get scanned photos or direct download from the Kodak to print on my wide bed HP.When I saw this I decided to give it a try, and I love it!It's very compact, very quiet and prints beautiful pictures that are photo processing quality. The greatest thing is that it is a thermal print so the pictures never fade as they do with regular inkjet. This printer uses a specialty ribbon and paper and yes the print packs are a little pricey ($15 - $20 each for 25 prints), but considering the quality of the pictures and what you save in premium photo paper it's well worth the price (and remember your memories will never fade). And if you balance the cost against the price of film and film processing, this is one of the best bargains you'll ever find! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Smiling faces in unexpected places!
I took my printer with me to Haiti and took photos of hundreds of children with my trusty, shoot from the back of a motorcycle, Sony PSC P7. Then I printed them and gave them to the children. The first printed photo of themselves, ever. The initial photos were of children lookng a bit suspicious but then there was a near riot as we gave the completed photos back to the children Smiling faces, huge grins, something precious an image of themselves. Yes, I got a few shots of those faces and one that is especially dear to me is of a boy holding his photo and beaming. We take photo prints for granted and forget what an amazing thing it is to be able to capture a moment in time.I love my printer, it is easy to use, the supplies are lower in price now, about .25cents a print. I thought I was a little crazy to buy this and carry it in with me but it was one of the best things I ever did.
5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Printer for do it yourself household
This is a great printer if you are using a good camera like the dsc-v1.The only thing is it takes 90 seconds for one photo but the photo IS worth the wait.Good quality.
