3-0 out of 5 stars Nikon XL II Spotting Scope
The optical clarity of the spotting scope was quite good.I compared it to a very similar scope put out by Bushnell and found it to be noticeably better to my eyes. The image wassharper with the Nikon product at all magnifications. The Bushnell product is several ounces lighter and to a backpacker or traveller, this may count for something. Also, it seems that more care is given to minor things, like rounding the edges of the mounting block on the Nikon, and it seems to be a better made product.I think that it would have influenced my choice somewhat if I had known that the Nikon product was manufactured in China and I may not have purchased it. I also have an 80mm Swarovski scope which is quite superior to anything that I have seen but one cannot compare apples and oranges and the price of the Nikon product is quite reasonable. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great little camera
I bought this camera 7 years ago, right before I got married. We were going to the Mountains for our honeymoon and wanted a reliable, small, easy-to-load camera. We also wanted a panoramic feature to be able to take photos of the exquisite scenery. This camera fit the bill wonderfully. It is super-easy and quick to load--always a plus. All of the features--timer, tripod mount, various flash options, macro capability--make it extremely versitile.Honestly, I haven't used the panoramic mode since my honeymoon. But I have put many, many rolls of film thru it over the past 7 years and all the photos turn out wonderfully. If there is one negative, it is the wide-angle lens the camera has.Sometimes, objects that'd be easy to shoot with a normal camera come out as little specks (imagine looking down at people from the top of a tall building: they're teeny tiny).Overall, however, it is superb.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK, but nothing special
I've had this camera for a couple of years and have used it for family events, etc. When some friends and I went to Yosemite, I noticed that their point-and-click cameras got better results. It's a fine camera, but you can't zoom in or out at all. It only has two settings: either for mountains or for up close. Also, I've accidentally dropped it a couple of times and the batteries, film, everything has shot out of it. It didn't break, but it's not super durable either. Anyway, it's fine, but next time I'm going to spend a little more money for one with more features.

5-0 out of 5 stars Looking to buy my SECOND camera
I bought a Lite Touch when it first came out 5 or 6 years ago - a lot of pros I work with also did so. Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It broke down in 10 months
I bought this camera in the US when I was travelling with my family. I am Peruvian. It worked fine. I really liked it and learned to used it for family pictures. However, I didn't use it for about two months and when I tried to use it again, it only took one picture and then didn't work. This happened 1 week and 12 months after I bought it so the 1 year warranty didn't apply. Also the warranty was good only in the US so I couldn't use it in Peru. If I had used the camera 2 months before it would have broke down within the term of the warranty. The NIKON Peruvian office told me it will cost $300 to repair the "shutting system" (something like that) and it would take around 2 months to have that part in Peru. Christmas and a family vacation were in one month so I had to buy a new camera. I sent several emails to NIKON US asking for help or a decrease in the price of the repair needed but they didn't even answered anything so far. This happened exactly one year ago.
5-0 out of 5 stars Oldie But Goodie
We bought a very early model SQ (I've since read that the cheaper Nikons are built in a different location). My wife carried this camera to Paris and Alaska and parts in between. It takes nicer 3MP photos than my 4MP Pentax. It locks the exposure in panoramas -- my Pentax does not. Just this week our friend broke the door covering the battery but my wife won't let me get her a newer camera so we'll stick with it. Looks like the build on newer, cheaper, Nikons is not up to the old build quality. ;-(

2-0 out of 5 stars Go with some other Nikon Coolpix camera, not this one.
Great size, OK images, awful durability.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Digital SLR
The Nikon D50 is everything it's touted to be.The picture quality is great and it is the perfect mix of easy to use, while maintaining manual/professional controls. The color balance and contrast only occasionally need adjusting.I have been particularly impressed with the nighttime portrait mode, which leaves a lot of the original ambiance of the picture and doesn't overwhelm your subject with a too bright flash. The lens that is included leaves something to be desired, however, and will likely need to be replaced with a faster one fairly soon.Overall, I am very please with this camera and the pictures it has produced thus far. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Superb, clear, sharp images
I was looking for Canon IS binoculars, I ended up with the Nikon instead. The Nikon is FAR superior to the Canon in anything even close to the same price range.I admit, I got extremely lucky, the shop I went to looking for image stabilization binoculars was closing out their Nikons and I got a fantastic deal on the RealTree (camoflauge) version of the 12x32 StabilEyes. These are exactly the same as the standard (black) version as far as specifications go.I'm not sure if the black ones will float, these will.

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT LITTLE CAMERA
I really enjoy my 110S. I like a camera that does the thinking for me.This has the Active AutoFocus system which really works great; and the zoom is superior and easy to operate. Go from a panoramic to close-ups with ease. Anytime Flash system picked the right setting indoors and out; without any redeye. The viewfinder helps you center your subject and the LED tells you when to focus and the setting is correct. don't know about the other review who panned this little gem but mine is one of the best camera's I've ever had

5-0 out of 5 stars never a problem and excellent support (my experience)
I see where others seem to have problems with this scanner and Nikon's support. My experience has been excellent. The folks who have had "fogging" experiences probably had dust on the lens... left the door open without an attachment in the access slot. The other problems were probably from not following the user guide and moving the machine without the transport screws in place. (very explicit instructions)The automatic functions work if one sets it in software.Nikon has improved their software to be very intuitive and there is a variety of ways to make adjustments now. When they put out the new LS-4000 and 8000 scanners with new software, they made the software compatible with the LS-2000 scanner too. It's compatable with all the new computer operating systems which the other manufacturers (so I've heard from users) haven't done.I have never had any problems with this scanner but when I needed service with a different Nikon product, I did a search for service and found it right away. When I have called customer service (24/7) toll-free number and went through "voice maze" to get to the right department, was on hold for about a half minute before I got to talk to a real person.I asked my question and she asked me to hold while she found an answer. She was back on the phone with my answer in a few seconds.Other calls to their customer service had the same sort of results.I can't speak for the experiences of others but mine was excellent. When I upgraded from the LS-2000 I bought an LS-4000.

2-0 out of 5 stars What support?????
I have had the same problems with my scanner as others have had. Starts off by making wonderful scans. Then after a while scans become a little foggy. Try calling Nikon to have a tech assist me or info to send the scanner to be checked out was drawn out and frustrating. I cant believe that Nikon, a world leader, has such...poor customer service. I bought Nikon becasue of all the wonderful things I had heard about the company, but when it comes to support, forget it. I hate to use such harsh words, but they simply [is bad]. Here I sit with a scanner that makes foggy scans and NO ONE to assist me. $2000 for this? I've been taken, but I only get taken once. I will spread the word and hope others who are in a similar situation will do the same. It's simply not fair.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best hardware for slide scanning
I work for a doctor that lectures around the nation. Two years ago, he decided to go digital. That meant scanning all his 35mm slides and preparing them for PowerPoint.I checked out all the flat-bed scanners with the attachments for slide scanning, and finally decided that purchasing two scanners (one flatbed and one for slides) was the best way to go.I never regret that decision. We have scanned over 6,000 slides and still plan to be doing more. Here's a hint for those needing to do a large amount of scanning - buy the automatic slide feeder and then write your own batch commands in PhotoShop to save yourself repetitive work (like rotating the slides 90 degrees, saving them etc).I have also found that the scan quality is better than some of those scanners promoted to be the top of the class. ...
