Further, our Contrast PLUS five-color ink system--four dye-based inks and a pigment-based black ink--produces true-life photos with a wide color palette, along with laser-quality text. You won't have to wait long to see your results; a beautiful photo lab quality 4"x 6" borderless photo takes approximately 51 seconds. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars just okay
Overall, seems to work well for the price. I've had a few problems though. 1) Often the printer says it doesn't "recognize" an ink cartridge (one that came with the printer originally) and I have to turn it off and on again to get it to work. 2) I haven't figured out how to print on legal size paper... I think maybe it's not possible.3) Color quality is just so-so even on photo paper. I had a better experience with my old Epson that lasted me almost 10 years.
1-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE RELIABILITY
Even though I have used my printer (a Pixma 5000) very lightly, it jams regularly on Canon photo paper and then spills ink everywhere. Today it went into "service error 5700" and it doesn't work any more, even after rebooting it five times.
3-0 out of 5 stars NICE PRINTER BUT ONE BOTHERSOME FLAW ...
I recently bought this printer from Amazon, generally like it, but it has one problem: when I have not used printer for a time (1 - 7 days, this problem more likely & severe the longer it has been) colors are often very bad, eg no red at all, sometimes no red and no yellow, on first page or 2 that I print. After 1-2 pages everything works fine until printer is unused for another few-day period. This problem always leaves me the choice of reprinting 1 or 2 pages (spending precious time and draining expensive ink) or accepting a lousy looking printout.Note there may be a fix out there, I am too lazy/busy to hunt it down. And if you are running this printer long and hard, on a daily basis, you will probably not experience this problem. But if you use printer only for small and occasional jobs (say a 4 page job 3 times a week) I think this printer is a bad choice, you can probably get more dependable quality from a less expensive printer. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good in many ways but also disappointing picture printing
I switched from an Epson when it stopped printing color properly, and I wanted a multi function inkjet for home use. Although I have liked my previous 2 Epsons, I decided against Epson because of a ribbon problem that occurs in various models (which happened to my husband's machine.) I also decided against HP because many consumer reviews mentioned paper jamming. Canon has very good reviews with Consumer Reports and on Amazon, and the price is very good.
5-0 out of 5 stars Canon PIXMA MP170 All-In-One Photo Printer Excellent
Easy setup, fast text printing, reasonable scanning/copying ... for the price, way exceeded my expectations for photo printing ... on good paper photos are very high quality!A great, bargain printer!

5-0 out of 5 stars canon printer
I am really happy with this printer.I have now had it for about 6 weeks. No problems so far.I think the printing quality for photos is great.I read the other reviews, which said that the photo quality left something to be desired, and I disagree. My only criticism is that it uses ink fast, so if you buy it, buy some ink refills at the same time.It seems to use up the color ink more quickly than the black.I also love the fact that it has a copier, which works great. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars OK but.....
I thought my old Epson all in one was slow but I think this is a close second....It goes thru all these gyrations just to print a page when I have printed a page just seconds before. It appears to be charging the ink but why this has to happen on almost every page is beyond me. And to copy you have to wait and wait also. I have to push the black "OK" button numerous times to get 1 page to print. AND....unless I use "fast print" there is so much ink on the paper that it smudges terribly. I'm still looking for a printer that was as reliable and fast as my old, old, old Epson 660 and I haven't found it yet. And HP is not the answer as I've discovered either.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality
This all-in-one printer has revolutionized my home office. For only $100, I have high quality printed documents, copies, scans and photos at home that exceed the capabilities of many small businesses.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great All-in-One
I'm a college student who prints mostly text.Nevertheless, after seeing the convenience of having an All-in-One, I'd recommend investing a little more in a printer with more functions.I purchased this printer after my Epson C84 clogged. After looking at some inkjets, I decided to order this Canon based on price and reliability.

1-0 out of 5 stars Canon Tech Support is their worst problem
In the long run everything I needed this product for worked fine (faxing and copying).Their main problem is calling for help and they want to charge you more to help you fix a problem with it or you can get it for free by going to "[...]".When I went there nothing worked and I didn't receive any help.So the Canon is going in the trash and I will stick with HP (Hewlett Packard).

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy Canon!
I purchased my multipass and it was supposed to have a color scanner (the book even said so), but when I called them about it they told me that it was a generic book and that mine was not supposed to have a color scanner. The book doesn't list any other machine except for my Canon Multipass C3500.Then my warning light wouldn't always come one when it was supposed to to tell me that I needed to replace the ink cartridge. And to top it off, my print head needs to be replaced. The reason I say don't buy Canon is because I have seen many of their printers up for sale (not just this particular kind) and every time I ask what is wrong the tell me they need a new print head.I've run into many people on the web with the same problem. If only I knew then what I know now.

2-0 out of 5 stars Multipass equals multiple problems
Like a lot people, I went for something that could do a lot for little money. I knew the risks of buying a machine that can seemingly do everything. Well, I know nothing is a cure-all but I was hopeful.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Printer Ever
I have had this printer for three years now and it has been nothing but trouble from day 1! If it's not the alarm light going off then it is skipping lines while printing. The fax machine is no better. "Best of all" Canon is nooooo help whatsoever. Their drivers don't work. I have had to reistall drivers tons of times, all to no avail. DO NOT BUY!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars waste of money
This machine has been nothing but trouble for me.Have had to reinstall the drivers several times, and the drivers from the Canon site don't even work.It goes through tons of ink jet cartridges at an enormous cost. Then every so often have to spend another $50-$60 for another entire ink jet cartridge.Customer support is about $10 each time you call, and it doesn't always help. It's very difficult to run a business with this difficult machine!

3-0 out of 5 stars frustrated
when i bought my cannon c555i was very pleased on how it worked...but when i cant get the alarm light off and an err keeps flashing that my cartridge needs to be put in when it is in and full of ink..THATS FRUSTRATING....i cant get the alarm light off and cant print....i cant get any tech information over the internet without having to pay for it...thats frustrating...ive had it for about 2 years and this is the first time i cant find tech help.....thank you and good luck ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Not conpatable with XP operating system.
This multipass C5500 is a very good all-in-one machine.I recently purchased a new Dell computer, but this machine is not compatable with the XP os.I need to sell this one and buy another multifunction that will work with my new computer.I have the original box it came in, the software, documents and extra black cartridge still in the package, unopened, that goes to the successful buyer. This machine is in excellant condition and have never had any problems with it .I am the only owner. I purchased it new.Thank you for your interest.Daniel Rogers

3-0 out of 5 stars not a great product
The printer, copy, and scan functions all work great.I have only tried to fax a couple times and couldn't get it to work. The ink cartridges run dry frequently, one went out in only 11 days.I am not sure if it is because the cartridge dries that fast or because the print head gets clogged quickly and thinks its dry.Even with cleaning the print head it still runs out of ink too fast.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Cheapy All-In-One Printing Package
I use this Canon machine mostly for printing, and copying use. However, this can only scan sheets as there is no area on the machine to print bulky books. I was dissappointed this fact. It prints well when there is ink, but I have to constantly buy a lot of ink cartridges because it runs out quickly. Although the price might sound appealing, a higher priced all-in-one machine might be a better buy. ... Read more

The Canon MultiPass C530 combines the functions of a color printer, fax machine, convenience color copier, and PC scanner at an almost irresistible price. The C530 is best suited to home use because of its modest performance ratings. Printing is rated at up to 2 pages per minute (ppm), and the copier function can make black-and-white copies at up to 3.1 copies per minute (cpm). Color copies range from three to nine minutes per page, depending on resolution settings.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Pure crap
I've had this printer for a few years now and it is nothing but trouble. First, regardless of what version of Windows I use, the Canon software always has tons of troubles to find the printer. At random points Windows will try to reinstall the driver and fail. Then when inside the Canon programs, the printer stops working at random points. The cartriges will go dry inside a month if not printing on a regular basis, it's completely ridiculous. Stay away from multipass printers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Buy for the Money
I purchased my Canon Multipass C530 in October of 2000. I paid $199.99 for and it came with a $55 mail in rebate. I consider it to be a very good buy. It is still working very well with one minor quirk that I have learned to live with. If you are using it with a computer that has a Win based modem it sometimes fails to initialize on startup. This problem is easily bypassed by shutting the power off to the unit (unplugging it) and then plugging it back in. 5-0 out of 5 stars Changed my mind
I actually went into the stores looking for a fax machineexpecting to spend about $150.when i saw this at [the offered price], i realized i hit the jackpot.its so nice and small and the cover closes up to hide the buttonsfor a better look.my print quality was exceptional even though the dpi isonly 720x360.in reading about Canon's Drop Modulation technology, i cansee how they do it with minimal dpi.black quality is perfect and thereare NO paper missfeeds at all.it seems as though it will copy just aboutanything and that makes me happy.i havent had any worries about thismachine and Canon has answered all my questions about the different thingsi can do with it.Thank you so much Canon for making a great product.Nowmy fax machine does 4 other things as well! 4-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC photo printer
After a tremendous amount of research, I bought this printer for my parents and was SO impressed with it that I was sad to leave it at their house! The picture quality is phenomenal (and I have seen dozens of different methods of producing prints), and the colors are truer to life than some of even my studio prints of the same pictures (I tried it by printing some copies of my wedding pictures). The copy feature does just a beautiful a job as the print feature does, and it's a BREEZE to use and set up.If it's not clear in the description, this machine also makes prints from negatives and those old-school slides (from the '70s?), which is unheard of in a home printer in all my research. Finally (and MOST importantly) the print cartridges are truly cheap to purchase: it costs around $9 to buy any of the colors, and the cartridge lasts for a while even after printing 100 or so pictures. My parents absolutely love it.If you're looking for an all-in-one and want a good photo printer, do not look any further.
1-0 out of 5 stars Sorry, I disagree

With so many people working at home, there's a greater need for a fully functional office in the back bedroom or at the dining room table. But where do you fit all that equipment? A computer, printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner are absolutely necessary in the modern world of freelancing and telecommuting, but who has the room for--and who can afford--so many machines? One of the only multifunction options currently available for Mac users is the Canon MultiPass C635. A color bubble jet printer, copier, fax, and scanner all in one compact machine, the C635 will become your new best friend, though it fails miserably at water cooler gossip.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars An all-around decent unit for home and SOHO.
I used a MultiPass C635 for a few years with my iMac Rev. A, and other than a few hiccups in the initial driver release, which were promptly fixed in Canon's next release, the unit was very good to me for scanning, printing, and faxing. Also comes bundled with PhotoDeluxe, a very good photo editor.

3-0 out of 5 stars OS9 procedure
If you are using OS9 you will encounter the following problem after installing the included Adobe Type Manager software: "System error type 119."Canon and Adobe are aware of this and the fix is as easy as going to adobe and downloading "Adobe Tpye Manager 4.5.2Macintosh version" (NOT the deluxe version). At some time in the nearfuture Canon will update the included software, but until then there is noclue about how to solve this problem in the box. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I love it
The ink cartridges are inexpensive and after I set the color to standard, I did not have a problem at all. The ink seems to last forever in this mode. I use the printer all the time and the cartridges lasted for 6 months. Definitely better than my Dell printer.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst Printer Ever
If my sister askes whether to buy this C755 Multipass, my answer is, "Darn forget it." Yest it prints, scans, faxes and photo copies. But that's it. Quallity of printing (whatever it is black, color, faxing or copying), is almost tragic. There are very notable thinny line between one horizontal ink spread and another. Another agony is popping up when you leave it out for a relatively long period of time. Ink or nozzle (I don't know what actually cause problem) are sticking up and it produces jagged letters or images which is very unsmooth. Scanning quallity? It's even no better than today's digital cameras which many cell phones arm with. Last pitfall is it needs on-memory utility software turned always on. Considering the large memory size of today's computers, the on-memory residencial utility program could not be a big issue. Yet, it makes lots of problem such as scarry blue screen and reasonless system stop with certain applications. I manually dragged the utility out from my start-up list for trouble shooting and reenter it when I needed printing. All in all, I gave it away to somebody and I'm so happy about it.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't do it!!!!!!
We purchased this printer while still running windows98.It has NEVER worked correctly. We have since upgraded to windowsXP and the problems are even worse. The print quality is terrible. The top of page one of nearly everything is a mess. This machine is NOT user friendly at all so if you are the least bit intimidated by copying, faxing, scanning, etc, then DO NOT buy this.I wish that I could give it zero stars.I would recommend this only as a "hand me down" to a preschooler who doesn't know or care about the quality. Then again, maybe not. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Canon Multipass F80 Support Sucks
The software/driver for this printer will not work properly with Windows XP, SP2.It causes computer freeze, requiring a reboot, in which data will be lost when trying to print from many applications. It also adversely affect the address drop downs in your internet browser.Canon offers a bandaid fix, but the issue has been known since the release of SP2 and Canon has not and will not fix this issue.I have finally given up on Canon and will move on to a different brand printer.Beware!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best for home use
The Multipass F80 is the best multi-function machine for home use. It's not designed for heavy, industrial usage, but has solid quality for everyday home user's needs. It's pretty good as a color printer, but it's the color fax function that's really cool. Its small footprint fits most desks well, too.

2-0 out of 5 stars Works OK, but no MacOS X support
I'm reasonably happy with how this printer performs in general, and it does the job as a quick and dirty copier.4-0 out of 5 stars Mine's just fine!
I am a Mac G3 user and for the price and all the functions this machine performs, I think it is great. I have space restraints and this is the smallest of the multifuntion machines. Probably the only thing I don't love is the quality of the printing, although if you instruct your computer to print on best quality (which is slow) the quality is much better!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great idea, short on delivery.
The versatility and light-weight, compact design of this machine made it practically irresistible to an iMac man like me.But after experiencing some communication problems between the printer and my computer, and then noticing that the product is absent from the catalogs of most Macintosh dealers, I was able to determine that the Canon 545 uses a conversion cable for USB compatibility. The Canon 555, on the other hand, comes with "hard-wired", built-in USB capability.Only slightly larger and a few dollars more than the 545, the 555 may be the better bet for most Mac users, at least in this price range. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good but no linux support
I've owned this for over a year and it's been my main printer/copier for a small business.I usually use it in draft mode as it is very fast (maybe 10ppm?) and the quality is good enough most of the time.Regular mode is too slow for my patience, maybe 2-3 ppm.4-0 out of 5 stars I' ve printed Retail Grade DVD covers, but burned outhead
I bought this printer new last October I was really astounded at the Retail grade DVD covers it produced, I printed about 1,800 covers before a Canon tech told me (by special free toll free number) the printing head was burnt out, but that they would send me a new one to replace old one since I had signed up when I first bought the printer. I am disabled and Canon took my word and is sending the part rather than me having a difficult time of getting someone to to take it to a authorized repair shop. Nice to know that a company as big as Canon still2-0 out of 5 stars Poor feeding; lots of ink
It prints fast once the paper feeds, but it rarely feeds correctly the first time. End result is that it doesn't start printing until 10 seconds after I get started. It also flys through the ink. Black cart is good for only 100 pages or so.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars I'd multi-pass on this one
If you're looking for a fax machine that positively eats toner and mysteriously runs out of color ink, even when you've never once printed anything out in color, this machine is for you. To make matters worse, it refuses to run again until you replace said unused color cartridge with a new one, costing in the neighborhood of $....Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars First Impressed, but Now Searching for Better
What's GOOD: Canon MultiPASS has the perfect design, is an awesome space saver, paper has never jammed, faxing is reliable, and is basically easy to use. What's BAD: Printing is very slow, copying is very slow, I spent about 3 hours on the phone with Canon Tech Support when first installed to work out some software bugs, now about six months later, for some reason when I click the print button it does not want to print. Sometimes I have to click the print button to print a basic MS Word document a dozen times before it decides to print.

The Canon MultiPASS C530 combines the functions of a color printer, fax machine, convenience color copier, and PC scanner at an almost irresistible price. In our tests, we found the C530 best suited to home use because of its modest performance ratings. Printing is rated at up to 2 ppm, and the copier function can make black-and-white copies at up to 3.1 ppm. Color copies range from three to nine minutes per page, depending on resolution settings. 1-0 out of 5 stars OK for very light use
I bought this machine at a garage sale cheap.Needed a fax machine. It was okay for very light use. However, if I waited too long to use it, the ink dried up.Then I started to need it more. The ink cartriges ran out very quickly. Finally, it drove me crazy always having to replace the ink all the time.I replaced it with a brother 7820N that I really like.

1-0 out of 5 stars Canon Multipass C530 inconvenient for use with a laptop
I purchased a new Multipass C530 hoping to use it with my laptop computer, operating under Windows 2000.I quickly learned that using the C530 with my laptop was very inconvenient. The drivers for the fax/scanner interfere with the operating system start-up when disconnected from the C530.Canon tech support suggests that laptop users load the BJC-4000 drivers and set the C530 to DOS print mode. Evidently this works for some, but not for me.Best to use the C530 for desktop computers only. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars networking and XP update
I have had this printer since 7/2002 for home use, and thought I'd share my experience with other users. My F50 works for both my networked XP computers using Windows File and Printer Sharing.(I have the firewall that comes with my security suite turned off.)To avoid that annoying message with a blinking red light that it can't connect, I just don't load the driver and toolbar on the networked computer.Despite the message, printing works. One major catch:It only works for the first user that has logged in to the computer that it's physically connected to, however. If on that computer I log in to a second user, that user will not be able to print.
1-0 out of 5 stars F80 +WinXP ServPak 2 won't work.
Have had printer 1 1/2 years and then upgraded my win98 SE computer to Win XP Pro. Now whenver I print from Win XP Pro it tells me that MPS in not connected (error) when it in fact IS connected. ???? Canon Website did reproduce the ERROR messages but there 40XXXt upgrade driver DOES NOT fix the problem. Even when used on a STAND ALONE computer. I have uninstalled hardware & software it will only orint from MS word one time; when you first install driver. Then after a hard boot it won't work again????All this for $350 printer/scanner/fax that won't work with XP Pro?I am not using network features either. Canon needs to do better than this to keep me as a customer. What happens when I want a home networked printer? (Is the lesson then----> Don't get a Canon? you cant upgrade it?)

2-0 out of 5 stars Great quality... when it worked
Software was cumbersome.Great print quality. After three years of relatively light duty, the unit is completely kaput.Trashed scanner motor and printhead.I suppose three years is OK life out of a printer, but I'd hoped for more from Canon. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice printer, another possible cleaning method
Hi,
5-0 out of 5 stars Nice printer.Good quality prints.Alternative head cleaning method.
I've had nothing but great results with this printer, but like most ink jets, after a year or two the print head clogs up and despite all the head-cleaning and deep-head-cleaning you do, the problem just gets worse. The nice thing about this printer is that the print head is removable, and so this allows for some creative head cleaning methods that you can't always do with other printers.Randy K's method is very nice, and here's an alternative that worked well for me.Remove the ink cartridges and then the print head.Run the print head under warm water and shake it around. If there's a clog in one or more of the colors (in my case it was magenta) you'll see that color ink washing out.Look on the inside and wipe out any ink that you see seeping out with a q-tip.Reapeat this step until you see no more ink coming out. Then thoroughly dry the head out (like overnight in front of an AC or fan) and then put everything back together.

5-0 out of 5 stars After about 1 1/2 year.
Great printer.I do use cheap ink.most of my black cartridge cost me less than $1 each.
