From the mind of Minolta!
How can you go wrong with this serious body from MINOLTA. It's got it all except mirror lock. For those who have a problem with the manual focus get a new presciption for your eyes or adjust the diopter dial by the view finder. This camera is now my work horse for all sorts of photography. Coupled with the 5400HS and a vertical grip it can be powerful and lethal piece of photographic equipment. I have always gotten razor sharp images without the autofocus being a problem at all. It also has the most powerful pop-up flash than any other camera of equivalent caliber. And for those of you who feel that the semi-pro bodies should not have a pop up flash, well its to trigger other flash in the wireless mode- Does your camera do this?. Excellent SLR!
I am an advanced amateur.I have been shooting with this camera for about 9 months.I also own the Minolta XTsi.The 800si greatly out-performs the XTsi.The features are too numerous to count, and no one could ever learn them all.This camera is probably a bit advanced and pretty overwhelming for a beginner.I added a Minolta VC-700 to my 800si.Its the vertical control grip.Lets you use 4 AA batteries instead of the costly 2CR5.The VC-700 also makes the camera's width and height almost the same while adding an extra shutter release thats in the upper right hand corner when you are shooting vertically.I recently added the 5400HS flash as well.All I can say is AMAZING.Many pros use Nikon, but I think Minolta is just as good if not better.This is a great camera at a great price, but a word of advice--shop around, camera equipment prices vary greatly. ... QUALITY MATTERS
Slow lens operation..yes. But quality and manual controls make this the best buy in it's price range. I've owned this model for 3 years and travelled in Europe and Ctrl America taking pictures that when people have viewed, have asked me what camera I'm using. The weight and metal case means you have the feeling of a large solid camera to shoot with but it's compact enought to have in your pocket. It's been thrown around, dropped on concrete pavement more than once and continues to operate and produce images as it did new.
High quality results - Hard to get them sometimes!!
In many was this is the best digital camera I have ever used, in other ways the worst.

Nice Camera
This is a nice camera for begenners as they said, or for somone who has a very old camra that needs replacing.Some of my favorite features of the camra are the auto advancing and the focus-free lens.

I got what I paid for.
Well, it was cheap. It takes OK pictures, but I got it for my 12 year old, it it was way too hard for her to get the film loading. If you touch the wrong button (which is easy to do ) it rewinds the film and you are basiclydone for that roll. totally cool camera

Excellent office printer - with some issues.
I found the 2430 DL to be a compact, attractive, relatively fast printer that produces high quality B/W and color prints.Business graphics print very nicely though it doesn't reproduce photographs well.The photographs that I've printed have a sepia cast and muddy appearance.
WORST ever for printing envelopes!
I have had nothing but problems printing envelopes with this printer.Odd sizes jam, and will NOT print. When an evelope does make it through this printer (standard size #10s), the print does not fuse to the envelope and smears. And yes, I have changed the tension levers for envelopes before before printing.I would only give this 1 star because it does print 8.5in X 11in standard weight paper just fine, but I want more options from a printer than this. ... Nice and small - but ...
This is a very small camera. But if you like first class pictures, this camera is probably not the best choice. In tele zoom mode the picture quality is ok. But in wide angle mode and especially with flash the corners of the pictures are gettig quite dark.

Practical and usefull camera !
My sister bought this camera and I've used it a lot, it's great to have your pictures with dates so you can organize your albums cronologically. Also, this APS system is perfect for those extra lerge photos in which youdon't want to miss a bit. I recomend this camera, it's a great value from agood brand.

Great climbing camera
I got this camera because it's the lightest and smallest camera I could find with a zoom; a key for a climbing camera. It does not seem as rugged as some APS cameras and it doesn't have splash proof. I'm a little worriedabout dust and water but it's little size makes up for it. The zoom is animprovement over my last APS camera because it helps enlarge the size ofthe climbers on the rock. I have replaced this stupid cable three times and I've owned the camera for only one year. I am not rough on the cable and I don't even connect & disconnect the darn thing often. It shorts out...or becomes useless quickly. I move the memory card to my video camera so that I can download the pictures using a cable that works reliably! Ug

Case holds camera too loose for my taste. Extra pocket helps but the elastic pouches are too small to safely hold extra batteries or memory cards.

What Are You Going To Do?
I own the Konica Minolta A200 camera and picked up four spare NP-800 batteries that I use in rotation.This battery is rated for around 260 images, though I average around 175 - even with minimal flash usage, using only the viewfinder, and the lowest power saving setting on the camera.I get less with flash and/or LCD usage.I do feel that the price on these are far beyond reasonable for their performance level and size - but that's what you get with proprietary batteries.I understand you may be able to use another manufacturer's less expensive battery in this camera, though I didn't want to risk it with a $600+ investment.

Half and Half
I read the reviews here and found I am in agreement with them, the lens is heavy, awkward, so you really need a steady hand for it, or constantly have to use a tripod and I like to free shoot it is good practice for hand and eye dexteritym but I do like the lightness in weight of the camera when no lens' are attached.I don't find the the frame capture is well, when I compared with other digi cameras, after zooming in on a photo, I noticed that the closeup was not as good as I wanted (the framing capture included more in it, vs the other digi zoomed in more on what you only wanted). You can't really zoom the lens down too much before you get vignetting.But it is better than not having a telephoto lens, since I have found out that there are NO Other lens' (except for wide angle) available for this camera, as the main lens (body) is not removable, adapter rings cannot be used to use another lens.Do I like the KM Dimage A2, yes and no, it has a lot of bells and whistles, and I would definently tell any potential buyer to really READ their manual to understand everything.

Great quality, but not a full 1.5x
I researched for several weeks before finally deciding to buy the ACT-100 for my KM Dimage A200.My old camera (Dimage Z2) has a 380mm lens (33mm equiv.) so I was really hoping to buy a telephoto converter that would give me closer to (or more than) that range (opposed to the supposed 300mm I get with the ACT-100).So with several 2x and up telephoto converters out there, why did I decide on this 1.5x one?QUALITY.I looked at sample pics and read reviews from people who had used other converters and none of them really seemed to produce the kind of quality I'm looking for (images were always blurry or had vignetting).While I'd much rather have 400mm+ zoom, if the quality is compromised, then the picture is worthless to me.So that's why I bought this converter...but now that I have it and have tried it out, what do I think?Overall, I'm very pleased.The quality is excellent (again, this was my main concern) and there is a definite increase in magnification.The lens is large and heavy, but honestly, I think this is necessary for a high-quality telephoto converter.It's heavy because it's made from metal and has 5 glass elements.And it needs to be this large in order to prevent vignetting.So why did I only give this product 4/5 stars?I don't believe the magnification is actually 1.5x.I took two pictures of a sign from the same distance away, one with the ACT-100 and one without.I then compared the two images on my computer, and increased the image taken without the ACT-100 until it was the same size as the image taken with the ACT-100.The conversion factor seemed to be about 1.45x.I know this may not seem like a huge difference, but 1.45 x 200mm = 290mm, and I was really expecting to get 300mm (as claimed).Despite the slight disappointment, I still believe that this is the best telephoto converter lens for the KM Dimage A200 and I'm very happy that I bought it because that 1.45x really does make a difference (even if it's not as much of a difference as I was hoping for).
