2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't love the camera
Bearing in mind that I really just wanted a basic point-and-shoot camera, I have to say that I didn't think this camera delivered all that it was supposed to. I ran some test rolls of 400 (manufacturer-recommended speed) and wasn't happy with the results--blurry backgrounds when I wasn't using focus lock on the foreground, and washed-out colors (which might be the film, but might be the camera). Also, I wish I had listened a little more to the reviewer who mentioned how the moving red focus boxes in the viewfinder "freaked" his wife out. I was also bothered by the moving focus boxes, couldn't figure out what they were telling me, and just wanted to take a good picture. The final blow: My mom's 20-year-old Canon Sure Shot takes great pictures, better than this Minolta and she really just picks up the camera and presses the button--not even worrying about the occasional use of fill-in flash.
3-0 out of 5 stars Problem with red eyes
I love this camera for ease of use, and crisp, clear pictures. My biggest problem though are red eyes.I use the red eye reduction most of the time and eyes are always red.Maybe someone has a suggestion to fix this problem?

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Pictures and Simple to Use
A fantastic camera at an unbelievable price. I've taken pictures throughtout Europe, Australia and New zealand in all kinds of weather and light conditions with always the same excellent results.A great camera to take take on a hurry up and keep moving tour. It takes wonderful landscapes, animal and people pictures. Even does well from a moving boat or car. The auto focus is incredible. Just point and shoot, the camera will lock on focus. We're now off to South America. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I am disapointed
Three years ago I bought a refurbished Minolta Dimage F100 camera. It was a 4MP caera that in my opinion was the best.Funny thing is that I never used it in 4MP and took all my pictures in 3MP.After 2 years of ROUGH usage by my son, my wife and I, it got stolen.I wanted another camera that was as good, and with my previous experience with a Minolta, I decided to buy a new Minolta camera that fit all my requirements: sd memory, aa batteries, Minolta, at least 5 MP.I bought this piece of ____.
1-0 out of 5 stars Buying this camera was one of the biggest regrets of my life!!!!
I seriously HATE this camera with a passion!! I just wanted something cheap that took normal quality pics, but no, this camera takes BLURRY pics ALMOST EVERY SINGLE TIME, it's sooooo embaressing bringing this stupid camera with me to events and having EVERY picture be blurry. I almost cried last night at my cousins' wedding because I couldn't take even ONE picture to remember the event. I've had atleast 5 of my friends say "I hate your camera." Well, I hate it too. I will die happy if I can sell it for $100. I bought it for $150 back in November and have barely been able to use it!

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS CAMERA - NIGHTMARE
I bought this camera this past December for my birthday at $199.It seemed great at first - takes beautiful pictures, very small, etc etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding 35MM SLR Film camera
I've shot Minolta 35MM SLRs since 1974 (SRT101). I've owned this camera for 6 years and it is a workhorse in my camera bag. (I also own an Olympus 5 Megapixel digital).
3-0 out of 5 stars Exposure Problems
I have a mixed review of this camera since i bought it about 8 months ago. Over all the technology for the price you get in this camera is great, with the exception of the Auto Focus (AF). When used in manual, you can get great pictures with this camera, but then you can get good pictures with any camera that works in manual, if you know what your doing. So the real issue is how good the AF works, which is how you end up taking 80% of your shots anyways. The AF on the Minolta HTsi Plus has some problems. One, it is a little slow to focus. I tried the Canon Rebel in the camera shop after I bought this camera and found the AF to be much faster. Two, this camera seems to have some serious exposure problems in AF. It never quite gets the exposure right. For example outside shots look bleached out more often then not, even when you try to light meter off the brightest spot first. Also, the contrast in color seems to always come out weak with this camera. I am not sure how much of this is the camera's fault or lens's fault as film also plays a role here, but pictures defiantly come out color poor. I have used a number of different films with this and they all come out color poor.3-0 out of 5 stars Minolta HTsi Plus AF Camera
This has been a great camera for 3 years and 2000 pictures. However it recently has been giving me some trouble. It is now at Minolta getting fixed for $130.00. The first thing that happened was the built in flash would not fire anymore. Then a few weeks later the camera would not even power up. This camera has taken alot of great pictures for me I was just a little disapointed it just quit on me. The only cons I would say about the camera is no Date Imprinting,no Depth of field check. There also is no Panoramic mode and the XI 3500 flash I used when, on the camera hotshoe the red eye function would not work. It is a good camera I would just recomend an extended warranty. ... Excelent camera with some good features. maybe the only problems is that in extreme cold or hot dont work properly

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
A wonderful camera for beginner to pro.The camera's many features allow you to grow from using automatic features to solely manual.Comfortable in your hands too.The eye start feature is great for action situations but should be turned off otherwise due to battery comsumption. The camera's many features allow you to use it under any and all situations and, even as a new photographer, come out with good photographic results. Many kudos to Minolta for providing one of the best instruction books I have ever seen with the Xtsi.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love the Minolta XTsi
I bought this camera a year ago (from Wolf Camera in Charlotte). I love it! It is easy to use and produces sharp, clear photos. I have to turn off the autofocus sometimes, but that seems to be true of most AF cameras. I like how I can have complete control over the aperture and shutter speed (as well as focus), or I can let the camera control any or all of these functions. There are many other configurable features as well. I initially bought a 28-105 Sigma lens and just added a 70-300, with Macro. The lens that comes with this camera would be good to start out with. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Price for a Great Camera
I got rid of my manual 35mm camera, and wanted a fully automatic 35mm, but didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars. This was the answer to my prayers. This camera is fully automatic, and has the features I wanted, such as Red-Eye Reduction, Date/Time stamp, remote control. It has a lot more features that I honestly have not used yet. I love taking pictures, so I am going to study up what those features are. The camera really comes through if you are in a dark place (like a reception), and you use 800 speed film. You can zoom across the room, and it's a great picture. Actually, this takes a beautiful picture in any setting (I typically use 400 film). I see they came out with 170 zoom, which I will buy in a couple of years. But for now, my Knoica's great! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT CAMERA FOR THE PRICE
I BOUGHT THIS CAMERA AT BEST BUY ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AND I GAVE ABOUT 3 TIMES THE PRICE IT IS NOW.BUT I HAVE REALLY ENJOYED IT. EVERYTIME MY FAMILY NEEDS PICTURES TAKEN OF ANYTHING THEY WANT ME TO TAKE THEM OR TO BORROW MY CAMERA. BECAUSE THE PICTURES ARE SO CLEAR AND ALWAYS TURN OUT GOOD. THESE OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD SO MUCH TROUBLE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ANY CAMERA THEY USED. BUT YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THERE ARE GOOD AND BAD ONES IN EVERYTHING YOU BUY. I HAVE TRULY ENJOYED MINE AND AM NOW BUYING ONE FOR MY MOTHER FOR CHRISTMAS TOO.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not reliable at all
I bought this camera with the confidence that a brand like Minolta inspires. It isn't of course one of the sofisticated and expensive Minoltas, but for my amateur purposes, it seemed pretty decent at firstsight. It proved to be a disapointment: the pictures are not very clear, especially the portrait type ones, though I was careful not to shoot themfrom too short a distance, the flesh is too slow. But the surprise waswhen, after only 27 days of using it,my camera's computer system stoppedfunctioning, without having previousely been subject to any shock. I wasstill lucky that my purchase receit was not expired, so I returned it tothe store. Now I'm looking for another camera, but it will definitely notbe a Minolta.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected

5-0 out of 5 stars Love It!
I've had this camera for about 4 years and absolutely love it. I've taken this camera all around the world and have gotten great results from it. It also takes wonderful black and white photos. Not only does this camera take great pictures, it's compact and so easy to use. I bought this camera as an alternative to a disposable camera but has become so much more. I always have it in my purse in case those kodak moments come up and glad it's so small and light that it allows me to do so.
3-0 out of 5 stars Quality comprimised by size
I've had this camera for two years and although it is compact and light - easy to carry around anywhere withought being a nuisance, I've had several problems with it.The picture quality isn't very good - my pictures oftentimes come out hazy (indoor and outdoor). Also, no matter which view I put the camera in - it also prints out in panoramic view.Quite annoying since I've never had a need for panoramic pictures. I probably would not buy this camera if had the choice now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Investment!
I have owned a Vectis 2000 for about three years now and have absolutely no complaints! I have gotten numerous compliments on the camera's sleek shape and compact size. It is a very elegant looking piece of equipment that fits easily in my purse and is perfect even to just carry around in my hand.I have never had any problems with picture clarity, or messing up a roll at all.The camera is incredibly durable, I have taken it overseas, on many vacations and am still perfectly happy with it. 2-0 out of 5 stars don't buy if your on a budget
i bought this camera after i took a high school photo class, what a piece of junk, in the 2 years i've owned it it's been repaired 3x - once at my expense of $130.00. The only thing this camera had barely outlasted was it's warranty.if your not fanatical about record keeping it's very difficult to figure out who to call to send it back.each time it went in it was gone for about 2.5 monthes.i've owned a nikon N75 for about 6 monthes now, and i must say, i love it, hasn't failed me yet, i used to think nikon was just a name and history, but nikons reputation really means something.I'm writing this for you - i'll update this if i hit any problems with the nikon or if minolta redeems themselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent camera
I have one of these that I use on occasion.I shoot with a Digital SLR, but I do have to tell you that this camera really surprised me.The clarity of the pictures is astounding!I got mine with the 28-100mm zoom lens and I love it.I use it to take film shots of landscapes and portraits and compare them to the digital shots I get from my Nikon D-70.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible Quality
I think this is perhaps one of the worst-built 35mm cameras ever made.My friends and family bought these cameras, used them a year or two, they die and so they would bring them to me for repair.Usually problems are from really poor quality cold soldering on the zoom or autofocus circuits, a bad chip, or the whole circuit board is toast.Thank heavens Minolta's out of the camera biz now, I don't have to fix 'em anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera all around and dummy-proof as well.
I went into Target with a $100 limit to buy a new camera, and this one was $99.99. I do not want a digital yet since they need to be expensive to be good, but I have started freelancing for a local magazine and needed something better than a plain old autofocus, non-zoom, autoflash cheapie, which is what I was using with pretty decent results, but that one started malfunctioning. I know most people don't read the instruction booklets that come with cameras, but this one really can do a lot, so it is going to be a waste of your time and money if you don't check out everything that it can do. I recommend using a whole roll of film just trying out the different modes and experimenting. It does everything that a manual 35MM camera can do, but if you're like me and are likely to mess up on your manual settings and ruin a picture, this camera is going to be your best bet. And you can't beat the price. Most cameras at this price only zoom up to around 80MM.

They say it was delivered.I have never seen it and very disappointed.I think it should of been stated on delivery.I will never shop here again and will delete my account if I receive the last item I am waiting on.Not sellers fault but very poor decision in shipping.I think I should have been told.I work hard for my money and now I have lost $100. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very good, but not perfect.
.4-0 out of 5 stars Point and Shoot Warrier
I was drawn to this camera because of the special macro setting with a minimum distance from objects at 1.1 feet.It is specified as having a "smallest field of 6 inches" - but at 1.1 feet, the smallest frame is about 17" wide.Out of focus close-up images happen about 40% of the time - either because I was closer than 1.1 feet or the autofocus may be inaccurate at that distance.2-0 out of 5 stars Repair Problem
I purchased the Freedom Zoom Explorer about a year and a half ago after my 6-year old Olympus Stylus Zoom bit the dust. I've really enjoyed the camera--it takes great pictures most of the time. There is a problem with the flash rebound--it takes several seconds for the flash to recharge which is not good when trying to capture continuous flash shots of your kid's squad in cheerleading competitions. You can take the pictures, but most of them will not have the flash activated.I am now camera shopping to replace the Explorer.I started to use it the other day, but when I took it out of the case (which was also in the video cam case), the LCD on the top of the camera was black and mottled. It still took pictures, but I have no idea what setting it was on or how many shots were left on the film. At least I was able to rewind the film. After taking it to a local camera shop, they determined that it could be sent off to the factory and repaired....They couldn't tell me what had happened or how it had happened, and I certainly don't have a clue since it's been safely stored since it was last used. This has been a good camera, but I was hoping to keep it longer than eighteen months.I don't think I'll be purchasing another. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Maxxum 5
My Minolta Maxxum 5 didn't make it through 1 roll of film. It wouldn't work with the 5400HS flash or the wireless remote as advertised. ...`

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner SLR that grows with you
The Minolta Maxxum 5, at a first glance seems to be the consummate budget SLR - small, compact, and seemingly devoid of the "Star Wars" features packed on the more advanced and higher end cameras. This little Maxxum will surprise, time and time again. It has unique features associated with Maxxum cameras, such as the eye start function - a feature that starts the camera autofocus and camera operation the moment your eye looks through the viewfinder. The camera's functions and important operations are very simple and easy to use - Minolta placed the buttons and dials in places where you can reach the important functions without EVER having to take your eyes off the viewfinder. The camera has 6 Modes to pick from, other than the obvious Manual mode - where you pick the f-stop and shutter speeds - There's Program - which is your basic jack of all trades, pretty reliable in all situations.Portrait - the camera selects a "soft" f-stop to give your subject a pleasing feel and look.Landscape, Action, Nature, and Night.. night scene is probably the most feature extensive, since it illuminates the flash for longer exposures to bring out the background behind your subject during night shots.Of course, you can set the camera for aperature and shutter priority functions. My only real gripe with the camera itself was the fact that it uses it's two CR2 batteries far too quickly, running through about 14 to 19 rolls of 36 exposure film - depending on if the camera uses it's built in flash often or not. The flash is good for fill situations, but it would be a much better option to pick a dedicated flash unit to save battery power and give your portraits more "pop" - something with a guide number of ASA 100 is just about right for this kind of camera. The autofocus is fabulous - the camera can focus flawlessly in near dark situations, but it does take SOME time - about a second or two.. but in fully bright situations, the autofocus rivals some of the top-end SLR's, right up there with the Minolta Maxxum 7's and 9's.All in all, this is a great budget SLR to start out with that will continue to give the serious amateur/beginner room to grow.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera, very versatile.
Lots of nice features, I especially like the depth of focus preview. The nice thing about this camera is that it can be totally manually adjusted, totally automated (focus, fstop, etc.) or many places in between.I can do what I want manually while someone who doesn't really know much about photography can still take great pictures without having to worry about adjusting anything.I haven't even scratched the surface on most of the features, but what I've used so far is intuitive and functional. ...
