...this camera eats batteries like nothing else I've ever experienced. Cant think of anything in its favor.. its bulky and ugly.. and I feel embarrassed asking someone to take a picture for me, because it's difficult to use and very tempermental! Just arrived back from Chicago where I took 25 pictures.. and had to buy 4 new batteries along the way.. already searching online for a good replacement

4-0 out of 5 stars HTSi 35mm plus 28-80 and 70-210mm zoom lenses - Excellent
The HTSi 35mm is my first SLR camera.Compared to the point and shootOlympus which I've used over the past seven years the results are fabulous. Tremendously easy to use this camera incorporates more manual featuresthan a novice would normal use.The bottom line though is that the endpicture quality is tremendous.Where I used to regularly get 3-5 pictureson a 24 exposure film which were of poor quality (out of focus), with theMinolta I've averaged less than one per roll. The pictoral symbols on thecamera are generally straight forward for standard settings (portraits, night shots, etc). For those who use manual settings on a casual basis, the combination function button/dial is a bit difficult to recall so planon keeping your users guide close by.Read more

From a purely technical standpoint, the Konica KD-500Z is an amazing bit of engineering. That Konica was able to squeeze a 5-megapixel sensor into the KD-500Z's tiny 3.7-by-1.2-by-2.2-inch frame is quite an achievement, and the fact that its case is rugged and well-designed makes it even more impressive. The LCD screen on the back is bright and responsive, a control pad makes it easy to navigate the camera's extensive software options with the flick of your thumb, and a 3x optical zoom places this product amongst the best in its size range. 5-0 out of 5 stars Konica KD-500Z 5MP Digital Camera
I bought this camera for my husband about three years ago as a Christmas present. It worked beautifully then and it still works beautifully now.It takes wonderful, clear pictures. When we print them out they look beautiful. We've even made picture cd's that we can view on our television and those zoom up clear and sharp. We love it!

2-0 out of 5 stars poor service
I had this camera six weeks when the battery charger quit. Konica's solution was for me to pay for tracked shipping and they would repair and return within 3 to 4 weeks! I find that totally unacceptable for a brand new product in this price range. I will never buy another Konica product, although I like the camera when it works.

4-0 out of 5 stars Small, but not enough camera for the price
I bought a KD500Z in 2-02 for $500, used it for a year, lost it in the car for several months, bought a Sony DSC-V1 for $500 to replace it, found the Konica and let my niece use the Konica for her very active summer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super light and phenomenal!
If you are tired of the point-and-shoot cameras and want to upgrade to a more sophisticated, yet VERY easy to use camera, the Minolta Maxuum is the one to buy! Have gotten a ton of compliments on the results. I love to take pictures of my neices and nephews, and with the 300 zoom lens, you can be on the other side of a room and take great candid shots. What I also love about this camera is you can attach different filters (I'm using Cokin) to create even more spectacular pictures. Can't say enough about it. Did I mention that it is extremely light-weight?!

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid build quality with good 28mm lens
I bought this some time in the year of '99 for about [money]. It has the date imprint feature, and came with a carrying pouch. It was one of the few point and shoot that has a 28mm zoom lens(the other two I found were from Olympus and Pentax. For some reason they were all priced about 50% higher than the Minolta.) I like the date imprint on the front of picture, instead of on back like those APS cameras. So I can see the date when the picture was taken while looking at the photo album without having to rip out the picture.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent all-around point and shoot camera
I like this camera for its all around versatility and picture quality.I've used it in work, for art and for family fun--and it's a good choice for all.5-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied!
I bought my Minolta Explorer Freedom Zoom a month ago and I am totally satisfied with my purchase. For the price, you can't beat it.What you are getting is next generation technology, yet a user friendly point and shootcamera that takes very clear, very crisp pictures that rival the moreexpensive SLR's.I can't believe what this camera can do and for it to beso small and compact! Also, I am really into the way it feels in yourhands, it's well balanced and just a sharp little camera. I never thought Icould get excited about a simple point and shoot, but I am. Go ahead andshop around, but you won't find a better camera for the money. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars MINOLTA Z5
It's a pity Minolta gave up the digital camera biz.Excellent camera solidly built a little trouble in low light but otherwise sharp well exposed images.

4-0 out of 5 stars All Around Great Camera
When I lost access to a darkroom I stopped doing black and white photography and switched to digital.I looked at some high end sonys, canons, a few dslr's, but they were all to expesive.I asked a friend and he recommended a Konica, and after some researchI went with the DiMage Z5.So far I am very satisfied. The macro-lens is excellent along with the zoom capabilities. It is able to bring out great color in many objects and is tonally accurate. The autofocus (in light) is very quick and yields generally perfect focus on objects.Theres a whole number of settings you can control such as white balance, aperture and shutter speed e.t.c.12X zoom lens is also excellent.A few complaints, the autofocus is not so great in the dark, also I'd like to see a few more megapixels, the Z5 has 5, but the picture quality is still excellent.A great all around buy. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Nice camera with a big flaw.
This may not sound like a 1 star camera from the below, but for me it needs a single star, other will probably care less about the flaw.4-0 out of 5 stars When the you get what you pay for rule kicks in.
First of all, I did a VERY exhaustive search before going for this camera. And when I say VERY, I really mean that I compared six different brands with cameras of similar aspect and characteristics. I narrowed it down to two brands, and within those two, to five cameras. I went for this one because it featured what I needed and I did not find any negative review, as I did for other models, even within the Minolta line of product.Read more

I bought the HTsi+, Minolta 28-80 and 70-210 and the 5400HS flash. It is a wonderful combination. The camera is the perfect combination of sophistication and simplicity. I have not yet had a bad photo or incorrectexposure. If all you want is a "point and shoot", it'll do that.If you want absolute control of the camera, you can do that. In between areenough modes and settings to keep a very advanced amateur satisfied. Theflash is amazing. It has a guide number of 152. It follows every movementof the lens, zooming instantly. It can also be used off the camera and istriggered by the HTsi's built-in fill flash.I was a little worried aboutthe heavy use of plastics in the camera. I have pleasantly surprised -plastics have come a long way. I do not hesitate to recommend this camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy with my choice...
My choice came down to Minolta HTSi Plus or Canon EOS Rebel X or 2000. Features are VERY similar. I preferred the HTSi Plus' feel and viewer displays, so I choice Minolta's body. (FYI, I worked with the 28-80 lensfor 3 weeks, then decided to upgrade to a 28-200mm for more flexibility.)The features allow tons of growth/learning by the photographer, while stilltaking great shots right out of the box. It's designed so that thephotographer can take as much control over the shot as they want, with theonboard computer handling whatever the photographer doesn't feelcomfortable with: From focus to aperture and fstop settings.Variety ofoptional presets allow immediate creativity while the photographer learnsmore about lighting, angles, film, and composition with each shot. No, Idon't work for Minolta.I just love their camera. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good all around bino for the money
This K-M best seller is a good compromise between the low end and the really high end models by Zeiss, Fujinon, and Nikon. Feels real good, although the porro prism design is not a small lightweight model,if you are seeking same. Good rubber coating, easy focus wheel (check its function), and relatively flat field via the hybrid plastic glass aspheric element.Decent light transmission. This is a "genuine article" good binocular you are likely to enjoy and use for every day and even for some backyard astronomy. I liked mine a lot before it got swiped and may buy replacement of the same kind,to add to my bino collection. The vinyl case is cheesy but that can be upgraded for twenty bucks or so. I did not care for the 10 power K-M as much, namely more distortion and heavier.

3-0 out of 5 stars not the good ones
These are not the Minolta 8x40 Activa WP FP that are $159 on other sites whose MSRP is $276. This MSRP is $159 and they are selling them for $139, so they must be a different cheaper pair.
