With a lightweight design that's 30 percent smaller than previous models, the JVC GR-D250 MiniDV camcorder is an affordable choice for recording life's most important moments--from family gatherings to vacations. 4-0 out of 5 stars Its a good starter Camcorder
Tried it indoor and outdoor.. It works fine.. And dual voltage charger is a added advantage too.. Works great and a good starter camcorder..

4-0 out of 5 stars not a bad camcorder
I realy enjoy this camera. What most impresses me is the charge time is very fast. It is a good quality camera for the price. I don't care about the lower reviews, like anything there will be a few lemons out there, but don't let that discourage you. I realy recommend this one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best deal - MiniDV 680K CCD Camera!
Great single sensor Mini DV camcorder. Has the same sensor and image quality as more expensive models. Easy to use. Great first buy for families who are starting in video. Doesn't have LEDs for night shots, although in most case it isn't a major inconvenience. Sound is good.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best camcorder
We bought one of these a few weeks ago and were quite disappointed. The battery only lasted about 7-8 minutes, and YES, I refreshed and fully charged it and did everything I was supposed to. I don't know if it was a bad battery or if someone had used up it's life and returned it, but I have yet to get a response from the company about it. The picture quality was very grainy as well. It is a cheap camcorder, but in my opinion you don't get even get $200 worth out of this one. I took it back and bought a Sony TRV 280 for a little more and it is AWESOME! Long battery life and great picture quality. Well worth the extra $50! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It has zooming defect
I was happy with this one until it showed this problem. It automatically zooms in to the maximum. So now basically I can't use it any more. I initially thought maybe it's due to my operation somehow although I'm sure I'm gentle on it. However, after I searched online, I found that I'm not the only lucky one. Some poor dude said if he wants to use it, he has to put one finger on the "zoom out" button all the time in order to cancel out the automatic zoom in. I called JVC, and they said this is not a recognized defect for them, and they will charge me just for an "evaluation". I'd rather just throw away this junk.

1-0 out of 5 stars Zoom issue is a deal breaker
I bet this would be a decent camcorder, if the zoom issue wasn't there. It's apparently a major glitch with this model. I bought mine new, used it without incident for about three or four months and then it began zooming at will. It zooms all the way in when you turn it on, and won't stay at any other level of zoom. I sent it in under the parts warranty, but JVC authorized service people wanted over $200 for labor. I paid to have it fixed, it came back still broken, sent it back in, and within two months it started doing the same thing. I despise this camcorder and JVC. Their customer service people are rude, they routinely do not returns calls or emails and they sell a very expensive product that doesn't work properly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad starter Camcorder
I just bought my first Camcorder after doing alot of research of reading reviews and comparing different models. I was on a budget and needed a good starter camcorder after getting tired of looking i found a JVC DX77 model that was in Mint condition, came with original equipment and a 2 year transferable warranty and the price was under $200 - i thought to myself i couldnt beat this price. I have read reviews about a defect in the zoom and when i received mine that was the first thing i checked and relief fell over me when i didnt have that problem with mine. I have taken still photo's with my DX77 and they have turned out very nice - i was impressed. I have yet to get a tape and record but, i have been spending the past few days reading the manual and trying to figure out how it works, which has been fairly easy. Im not sure how other camcorders work but, i have been happy with mine and from the reviews ive read im sure i will be happy with the recording quality just as i am with the stills. After recording i plan on connecting it my computer to burn to DVD so the USB and Firewire are an excellent plus. This is a little camcorder but, i think for 1 lb. it is a little heavy for one hand to handle. I would also like to add that the snapshot button is alittle akward to push, its like you have to hold the camcorder with one hand and then push the button with the other. My conclusion is no camcorder is perfect and for the price i paid and the condition its in i think i got a good deal. I would recommend this little camcorder to anyone who is purchasing their first camcorder, wants decent still quality, or someone on a budget. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Low quality, short lifespan
Low light image is sub standard, but what can you expect for the price. Sadly the CCD blew up 30 days after 1 year warranty expired. It will be cheaper to replace than fix.
1-0 out of 5 stars JVC = Garbage
Don't waste your time on this junk.Mine blew up just out of warranty with a tape loading problem.Repairing is almost as expensive as purchasing a new model.
1-0 out of 5 stars Good Camcorder until "condensation" problem
I have had this camera for about 2 years.Worked great until about 6 months ago. When i would turn the camera on I would get a message that said "STOP CONDENSATION" it would last for a little while then the camera would work OK.As time went on, the message appeared more often and lasted longer. Now, it's hard to even use the camera, it works 1 out of every 25 times i turn it on.JVC won't respond to e-mail's and i have done everything to fix it that i have read on the internet.I cannot take it to a service center because they want $100 to just look at it and i think I can get a brand new one that hopefully will work for about $200.But you better believe it won't be a JVC. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Batteries don't last long
I have had this camera for about 5 years and didn't use it all that often but when I did I was pretty happy with it until recently when the battery started lasting only 5 minutes after charging it.So if you want to get this camera I suggest picking up another battery
5-0 out of 5 stars Had for Many Years and Still Love It
I bought mine at another store several years ago. I have only recently had any problems with it and that is the batteries. They do not charge anymore because of age and use, but other than that, this camera has not had any problems. I have never had trouble with the door. I love the effects. As soon as I can find a replacement battery, I will be back to videoing. I have taped a moving train, cats runing around and even a funeral on this baby. It is a great camera for as old as it is.

1-0 out of 5 stars product nogood cant find anyone to return it to

1-0 out of 5 stars to small
it's just to small. good video and small camera do not go hand in hand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Please be accurate with you information on the GZ-MC200
This is a great camcorder. Ray Price is incorrect on the 4 gig limit as I am running a high speed 8 gig cf card and it works fine. I get 2 hours 9 minutes out of the card on ultra fine and about 30% less battery drain than the micro drive. I really like this camcorder.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent! More than pleased... and still just as good as the newer, more expensive larger-capacity JVC models.
Of course you've already read the con's about low light performance, but you can fix this by setting the "M" mode (manual)to "Cloudy" and selecting 1/30-1/60th shutter speed. I use 1/30th - and it's works like a charm.

5-0 out of 5 stars Xtreme Proformer
Excellent Proformer GREAT video in any filming condition. I got 1 hour 48 mins of battery power from this camera. and all these errors that everyone is talking about is fixible. To fix just turn mode selector to manual setting then slide on the battery and hold the stop button then go to menu go to factory reset. It works because I have done it 2 times already. and jvc in japan tell me so. I bought mine there.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save for a better camcorder
With the best lighting conditions the video is great any other forget it. The audio? What audio, voices have to be yelling to be picked up and be heard on playback. There is no memory card if you're thinking of taking photos.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very HIGH Failure Rate
JVC Camcorders are highly UNreliable. Once they begin to display errors, you are done. This may occur very shortly after purchase. I received the infamous "Unit in safeguard mode error E04" and that was the end of it. Got some other errors. I did everything the camera (and instructions) told me to do...change the batter, bought a new battery, cleaned the head etc... But it just does not matter. You will get errors. And once you have these errors, the camera refuses to work. And in some cases, it refuses to simply stay ON long enough to do anything at all, including getting your tape out of it.

1-0 out of 5 stars JVC Does Not Stand Behind Their Products - JVC Lemoncorder
I agree with the many other users who have experienced the "Condensation, Operation Paused" defect on their JVC GR-90DU.Despite numerous others reporting this problem, JVC says its not a recognized problem.I would disagree - it is a recognized problem, but its your problem, not theirs.
3-0 out of 5 stars Condensation Error Again
We purchased the GRD50 2 years ago and with less than 50 hours use in that time we have had the dreaded Condensation Error twice now. Once during the warranty and now just last week. JVC are waiting to hear from the repairer before they commit to covering the cost of the repairs. The camera has worked perfectly other then the condensation error.

1-0 out of 5 stars JVC GR-D30U Has Problems
Our family bought the JVC GR-D30U a couple of years ago and have used it infrequently, but lately it's been unreliable. It worked fine for awhile and the main problem was that it's wide-angle capability is poor.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lens Cap Error
I had this camera for 14 months before I got the "Lens Cap" error.JVC wil not repair it eventhough they have a recall program on many camcorders with similar problems with the CCD chip.It was great camera while it worked, but I am not going to spend $200.00 to fix this problem. One thing I am absolutly sure of is that " I WIL NEVER BUY ANOTHE JVC PRODUCT AGAIN.
2-0 out of 5 stars If you dont use it! You loose it!...JVC
I have been an avid JVC customer. I guess this is because JVC in Asia where I was from are good products, just like my Toyotas, reliable. So when I came to the USA. All JVC appliances and equiptments that I may use, I have. From home AV recievers, tv, lcd auto stereos, speakers, dvd players, mega cd changers. MOST DID NOT LAST LONG. The only one working are my TVs and the ones I often use. I know now for a fact that JVC products break if you dont use them, but I do not have the time anymore. As I am writing this review AmericanTV will repair my JVC GRDF450U MiniDV Camcorder but I will have to buy a new camera for my daugthers recital because they may not be able to fix it quicker.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I bought this camera seven months ago.I went to turn it on the day before we were leaving for a family vacation and I got the lens cap error.Needless to say I didn't have a videocamera for our vacation. When I got back I called JVC and they said that my model was not covered under their special repair program because they hadn't had many lens cap errors with this camera.Eighteen other models are covered until October of 2007 if they get a lens cap error, but the 450U isn't.It is a known issue, they should be standing by all of their products, but they aren't.I also sent JVC customer service two e-mails, and two weeks later I have yet to hear a response.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the price.
The DV is in a weird place, on the bottom, which makes inserting a new tape while the camcorder is on a tripod impossible.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Camcorder
I've had this camcorder now for 6 months. Here are some of the things I have found.First you know to purchase a firewire. The charger, I found a nice charger that you put the battery in the unit and plug the whole thing into the electrical socket. That is nice. I don't know if other camcorders have the same type lense cover, but this one stinks. It falls off alot. Whoever designed it should be immediately drug tested. Still shots are so-so. Don't expect them to be like a digital camera quality. I think it is good shooting in overcast or indoors. Of course since this is my first one, I have nothing to campare it to. But all in all I'm satisfied.

The JVC GRH-D1 was released two years ago as the world's first hi-def camcorder (at least the world's under-$5000 HD camcorder). It utilizes the new HDV format, developed by JVC and enhanced by Sony, JVC, Sharp and Canon. The GRH-D1 is by now the "granddaddy" of HDV camcorders but it's great for those aspiring to shoot HD video. It has a comfortable grip, great image quality, and loads of pro features. The iamge quality is definitely excellent.Shop around to find this for around $2000.

1-0 out of 5 stars Would be Good if it worked
I bought this camcorder on September 28, 2003 when it was still fairly new on the market and more expensive than it is now. By July 2004 both the LCD screen and the viewfinder just went black. No image but I was still able to record audio. I reported it to JVC. They told me I had to send it in for repair, which I did. It seems that this was a common problem. They didn't ask too many questions. The warranty had already expired so I had to pay a couple hundred dollars. Six months later, the same problem again. I called JVC again and told them the problem. The technician who attended to me suggested that I turn it off and disconnect all power for about an hour and then try again because "that usually works." Now what kind of advice is that? I need this camera to shoot footage of events. What am I supposed to do each time this happens? Turn it off for an hour and ask the event organisers to postpone their events for an hour? Anyway, even that super solution didn't work, so I called again and they said I had to send it in for repair again. So I asked, would I have to be sending this camera in to you every six months? "No," she responded but "thank you for calling JVC."

1-0 out of 5 stars A very bad choice (it broke for no reason TWICE)
When I first bought this camcorder in December 2000, it seemed to work pretty well. But after 4 months, the zoom button broke. Then for no apperent reason the whole camcorder completley stopped working, so I had to send it to the JVC mechanics to get it fixed. When it was returned (after spending a lot of money to get it fixed), it worked well, or so I thought. Only 2 months after having it returned, the zoom button broke again, and the viewfinder turned green. 1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible camera
The picture quality is unacceptable, the VHSC format is a pain, it goes through batteries too fast, and it's shoddily built.Take advice from a guy who works with this kind of stuff all day.I bought this thinking it might be a good low-budget camera for home movies, but it's really worthless. After a month of terrible looking home movies, mine stopped working for no apparent reason. When I tried to call JVC, their customer service line disgusted me so much that I gave up, threw it out, and bought a slightly more expensive Sony model.I'm completely pleased with the Sony, and I highly recommend their camcorders for anyone.Just make sure to get the Digital8 format, it's really the best out there.

The sound on this camcorder is good.My 12 year old son was able3-0 out of 5 stars JVC sounds Bad
I recently purchased the Jvc GR-SXM740U Camcorder and took it on a trip. The picture quality was super. However I was very dissatisfied when I returned home and started to view the movies I had taken. The sound was awful. I filmed some of our movies outdoors and you sort of expect the outdoor sound quality to be less the perfect. But when I watched the indoor movies I could not believe it. Four people in one room and at times three of us could not be heard. It gave me a headache trying to listen to it. Then randomly the camera would just pick up stray noises outside. So beware of this model if you value sound and video. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Modest camera with flaws..
Pros: Small Format - That's it4-0 out of 5 stars This is great !
I bought mine from a different website, but since I have been a long time customer and user of of Amazon.com website, I thought of giving this review to aid other customers old and new. I have this mini cam for about a month now and I used it when I vacationed in California just last month. I never regret buying it. My family and friends have a great time watching our pictures on TV everytime we return from one of our siteseeing trips. I just give it a four star for now because I still have not use all it's features yet. There's just too many to read and install in order for me to fully utilize it. Overall, I think I got my money's worth. It's convenient and easy to use (the still and video cam only). It can get great pictures, and you can use the auto flash if the lighting is not good. The LCD monitor is not so clear on a bright day, but who's complaining, just delete your not so good shots and just keep the best. I haven't used the viewfinder that much since even in 35mm camera I find the viewfinder too small, I used the LCD most of the time. You just need to buy additional battery, which I did. I bought the BNV840 before but it weighs just the same as the camera itself, so I end up exchanging it with BNV312. Plus the former one needs a different charger which I have to buy separately. I will definitely recomend this with anyone. Also I bought a 128mb SD memory card in addition to the 8md that is included in the video package, though I haven't used up my 8mb yet. ... Read more

Pluses:3-0 out of 5 stars Apparently not all GC-QX3's are alike
The GC-QX3 is my only digital camera, so I don't have much of a comparison, but I am not thrilled. It takes beautiful pictures outdoors in the bright sunlight, but it completely falls apart in low light situations. The auto mode is essentially worthless indoors. At least half the time the camera gets the white balance wrong, and the pictures are all blue. I mean REALLY blue, unfixably blue. Flash pictures, in addition to being blue, are usually severely under exposed. Even though this camera has three different sensitivities, it always takes auto mode flash pictures at the lowest sensitivity (ASA 80 equivalent). I have completely given up trying to use the camera indoors in auto mode. I set white balance, sensitivity and exposure manually. This is a real pain if I am in a point and shoot situation, and even then, I never really know what I am going to get. The display on the back is nice for previews, but it is worthless for judging picture quality.Read more
