Great Printer!!!Cheap!!! Perfect for students!!!
I bought my 825c printer for a really good price, about half the average cost of printers.The best thing about the deal is that it even included ink cartridges!(Which ironically cost the same price as the printer itself) solid printer for everday use
this printer holds up well for normal, everyday use-- i mostly use it for academic work, and its held up well for the past 2 years (paper jams have been rare). color printing with the hp 825c isn't the best quality, but digital pictures come out moderately well on photo quality paper-- i've framed photos printed by the hp 825c and, unless they're looking closely, people haven't really noticed any difference from my regularly developed photos. overall, the hp 825c is a decent printer, well-priced for student use.

Constant paper jams
I had no expectations for print quality with a printer at this price, but expected something that worked. EVERY attempt to print either jammed the printer or ripped the paper. Drive went bad one month after waranty expired, seldom used.
Bought this product. Had problems with compatible media. At first, HP support said I had to buy HP media (how convenient, and expensive). I finally found a media that worked (Dysan, if you have ever heard of them). The drive just went out on me. I have the original 50cd spindle of media here. I have burned less than 50 cd's in the drive. I wasted 4 hours trying to figure it out. It spins fine, it opens/closes fine, but windows just says 'insert disk'. I contacted HP support, after wasting my time with newbie tasks, they had me unplug the ide cable... Ehh
For some reason this burner takes about seven minutes when writing off the hard drive, and 20 minutes when copying from the CDROM drive.I have new Pentium 4 with a 50X cdrom drive, so I can't figure out why it is so slow.Tried 4 different software programs (the bundled burning software from HP is terrible by the way), different IDE chain combinations, and even different OSs to try to speed it up, but with no luck.Hmm.On the plus side though, its had a lot of use (about three hundred discs) with no problems or coaster-producing tendencies.

Very Adequate burner but bundled software sucks
After many hours of help from the HP support people, I finally was able to get the burner up and running.The HP people were very helpful and they couldn't say their burning software was bad, but if you read between the lines, they as much as said to dump the "Veritas My CD" software that comes with it.I agree.I got buffer underruns whenever I tried to burn an audio or data cd.I bought Click 'n burn pro and have been burning without a problem ever since.Instead of cutting corners, HP should bundle software worthy of their fine products.Other than that, it is a great burner. ... Almost perfect
This little printer is perfect for trips.It is compact and light.It has a very good resolutions in b&w and in color too.It has two disadvantages, the first one is you can't use any kind of paper (looktechnical information) and the second is you have to change ink cartdrigesfor print in color and b&w.But it has a very good characteristicagainst other portable printers, it can support both 110 or 220 volts,without buying any additional product.As I said, it is perfect for trips,domestic and international.

Good little printer
I have the standard DeskJet 340, w/o the infrared adapter. While not very speedy, the printer produces really excellent printed pages. It's kind of a hassle to have to change ink cartridges to print in color vs. b/w, but Iguess that's what you get in a printer this small. If you just use theprinter w/o the sheet feeder, this thing in pretty darn portable. I wish Ihad the I/R option - carrying a 3ft printer cable in my laptop bag is nottoo cool. Scan Away
I read some of the reader's comments and, frankly, I'm not sure if they're talking about the same scanner. Works fine for me!?!
I am a bit puzzled by the negative comments. I have had absolutely no trouble, and I have done hundreds of scans in the last tree or so months. Installation was flawless (after I found the unlock tab), and performance is far beyond my expectations. Color repro is the first I have not been able to distinguish from the original. It is much faster than the 6300 or 5100 I have. Benign and friendly. It does take a bit to warm at first. Poor image quality
The ScanJet 7400C displayed abundant dithering patterns in many colours especially in dark areas. The 6300C line was way better in terms of image quality. ... Read more

Yikes Watch Out for XP and This Scanner
I originally used this scanner with 98se and was very happy with it.We upgraded to XP and the problems began.First XP wouldn't recognize it when I tried to connect it to the same USB port that it worked happily with before.I tweaked and fiddled and read on the web about a lot of people who had the same problem. Easy to install and use
This scanner was the easiest piece of equipment to istall I have ever done.Instructions are very clear and take you step by step through the eentire process.Pictures scanned quickly and clearly.Easily filed on my computer and other programs.I am very happy with this scanner and with the price I paid.

Slowest
This device is like a piece of junk considering the speed and accuracy of its work. It never finishes a task correctly and it take about 30 minutes to write a CD.

Doesn't work
This CD Burner just doesn't work.I imagine as I purchased it used that it was already in rough shape and after reading all the reviews here I realise that as this burner quickly kicks the bucket after just a few uses, I bought someone's dud.Sucks.Nevertheless, whether I bought it used or not, it sounds like I still would have had major issues.
USB is great, but it isn't for CD burning
I purchased this unit about two years ago, and it's something I regret. After trying this unit on three different machines under four operating systems (Windows XP, ME, 98 and Linux [Fedora Core]), getting it to cooperate with each system was anything but your standard "plug and play" operation. What HP's customer support doesn't tell you is that for some versions of the popular Nero CD-authoring suite, you are required to download a separate file in order for the software to detect your burner. Based on my experiences with Windows 98, I simply could not get this burner to interact with any burning applications other than to use it as a floppy-like storage drive. Even after upgrading to the latest Windows 98 drivers, the burner failed to behave as it should. Windows XP is a mixed bag, sometimes this burner works, sometimes it doesn't. While Windows was able to detect the drive, and provided you had the proper drivers, the drive was able to burn audio CDs under Windows Media Player. To burn other formats, Nero was required (the bundled software is garbage, don't even touch it), and often this required the Nero fix mentioned earlier (required for the latest version of Nero). Surprisingly, with an older version of Nero (5.5), the burner worked right out of the box. I was burning audio and data CDs, as well as a VCD and SVCD discs. Furthermore, the burner performed flawlessly for me under Windows ME, regardless of which version of Nero I installed.Read more

Quiet and Good Quality
I bought this printer a while back and it works great. Very quiet and great photo quality. The ink is medium priced and lasts a long time. The photo quality is excellent and can use both Compact Flash and Smart Media Disks to store photos and projects so you dont need your computer to print photos.
Good pictures, but on the floor
I like the features, simplicity and install of this printer especially under windows XP pro.My only complaint is that many print jobs end up on the floor.It has a very short out tray and ejects with quite a bit of force.I have had more jams-per-print than I did with my old 720c.Color is impressive, LCD menus are nice.

Messed up XP
5-6-02.Just bought the 1115 with high hopes with my brand new, XP loaded, top of the line machine.I started installing the drivers and the system just started rebooting (3 straight times).I used my backup software to go back, and against my intuition, tried again.Same thing, only this time Windows XP came up with a nice message informing me it couldn't boot.Luckily, it has its own backup system.Computers are my business.Granted, I'm not a hardware pro, but that's ridiculous.I do believe its an HP issue, not an XP issue. ... cheap but frustrating
i mainly bought it to scan slides.i wondered why the other reviewers said it was slow, now i know: it scans it once for preview and you get 20 dime size photos and you can select all or deselect certain ones or ones that are too dark, you must indivdually select to include in the final scan.then you hit scan and it scans 20 times, one pass for each slide, if your lucky.half the time it stops and you get a message that something is wrong with the template that holds the 20 slides, well there is nothing wrong with the template! so you start all over again but you must go to preview and deselect the ones you have already scaned or else you will get duplicates.it's cheap and the results are good but it's frustrating to use.

The software kills it!
I really need an HP scanner because that is the only brand that does a good job on 3-D objects. My old HP 5300-C scanner was a wonderful device with great software. I finally wore it out after 5 years and 100,000 scans.
