5-0 out of 5 stars I love this camera
The world has gone digital and yet Olympus produced one of the best 35mm cameras out there just as film cameras were becoming obsolete. It'sa shame because this camera kicks [...], because it's simple to use, produces amazing shots and has a great zoom/lens, autofocus, battery life (beats any digital camera) and it feels great in my hand. I've taken many shots with it, including B&W shots, which are even greater than color shots. I've also taken tons of night shots, including auroras, which I never knew how to do before. This camera works especially well with Fuji film. I want to buy another one before they get rid of film cameras forever. Sad.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for point & shoot, but still lacking
The Olympus IS series cameras have always had an identity crisis. At first they were called "ZLRs" or "Zoom Lens Reflex."They have the internal making of an SLR (a mirror mechanism that shows you exactly what the lens is seeing), but lack the versatility of being able to change the lens.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Camera Ever
I have never owned a camera before this one but I have taken a lot of pictures with other cameras so I know a good camera.I did a lot research when I decided to finally buy my own camera. I chose this one based on it's not complex features.I wanted something that would take up a lot of my time to learn as I am a college student and need that time to study school work not how to work a camera.I got the camera about two weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with the results, these are some of the best pictures that I have ever taken. This is definatly a camera that is for the first time camera owner. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love the size!
I loved the size of this camera when I received it...I just tossed it in my purse and it's ready whenever I catch my two-year-old doing something cute! The picture quality was fine for me.I am slightly disappointed that it takes lithium batteries, but not enough to go to 4 stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Small Camera-average quality prints
This little camera has some nice features but really does not take any better pictures than my Fuji which was 1/2 the price.
4-0 out of 5 stars Fine camera for excellent price!
Fine 35 mm camera, simpicity of design; photos turned out beautiful.A camera which is very easy to use.

1-0 out of 5 stars PIECE OF JUNK!
I bought this camera recently for a party I was throwing (after my other camera died and I was in a hurry to get something else) and it was an absolute piece of JUNK!The viewfinder was totally blurry so you couldn't even focus the camera to take a picture! We tried cleaning the lenses (even though that shouldn't have been necessary, because the camera was brand new; it came like that!) but nothing worked and I finally just returned it. Also, the stupid flash pops up and sticks way out which is not a good design.Stay away from this camera and go digital!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little camera, packs quite a punch
I bought the Stylus 120 right before taking a month long trip to Europe over the summer, and I have yet to see a single thing wrong with it.It takes GREAT pictures, and it is quite resilient.I dropped it a couple of times,it was constantly banged around, and yet it always functioned faithfully. The only thing that I can complain about was completly my fault: the manual focus got knocked around when I wasn't paying attention, and so a couple of pictures were out of focus.I would HIGHLY recommend this camera to both amateurs (I never even read the directions, the camera is that simple) and pros alike.

5-0 out of 5 stars great little camera
I am absolutely NOT a photographer. The pix I took with this camera all came out excellent.

3-0 out of 5 stars great pictures, but unreliable
Because of the lens, pictures come out sharp and beautiful.I've even took slides.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simple camera that takes great pictures!
As others have noted, this is a non-zoom camera with an excellent, fast lens.I bought it a month ago in preparation for an upcoming trip to Italy. As someone who learned to use a Pentax ME Super 25 years ago, I bought it mainly for the fast lens and small size.I also like that it has a slightly wider angle than my zoom compact camera -- great for both travel pictures and indoor group pictures. So far I've taken two rolls of film, in part to test all the features of the camera, and all of the pictures are excellent.I may add to this review after my Italy trip.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great camera -- SLR quality photos
This is the Deluxe edition of the camera I am referring to in this review. This is a very good camera, at an affordable price, that takes excellent pictures. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is its inability to take good night pictures without using a tripod. My old Samsung had a night setting that took outstanding night pictures without a tripod. I wish I could get the same quality with this camera. Also, there isnt' a continuous shooting function or a Macro function (the specs say 2.6 ft is the closest with this camera, although, I've found out by experimenting you can get closer than that) that I had with my Samsung either. Those are the only flaws with this camera. I am still trying to master the settings, but most of my pictures come out SLR quality (primarily using ISO 800 film).

4-0 out of 5 stars A great camera
I received this camera as a gift about 5 years ago and use it for just about everything: family pictures, vacations, etc.The pictures come out clear, the camera is very easy to use and has nice features, such as zoom and auto-focus that make it a great all-around camera. The camera survived a lot of abuse from travel, etc. but did not survive a fall on a hardwood floor. But after many years of use, I can't complain. I would definitely recommend this camera!

4-0 out of 5 stars harumph!
this is a fine camera, but i have to admit that when i finished taking my photos and got them developed, i was dissapointed to see that they all came back upside down!I am happy with this camera but would like to see a model in the future perhaps that takes photos right side up. It's annoying.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great basic camera
Even though digital cameras are all the rage these days -- and I myself have three of them! -- sometimes you do want to use a film camera, especially when you can't carry an AC adapter with you, or don't want to shell out lots of money for extra batteries, to power your digital camera. Also, ISO/ASA 100 film or slower still gives you the best clarity outside of the negative and professional realms.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Clunky, noisy but still okay
This camera is really a mixed bag. I hate absolutely everything about it: too noisy, zoom too slow, unimpressive viewfinder, etc. But even as bad as this camera is, I took some really amazing pictures with it. You know the saying: It is a poor workman who blames his tools...1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed shutterbug
I enjoy taking lots of pictures, but I have had nothing but frustration after buying this camera.I kept thinking the batteries were dead, and the camera would freeze up and not perform any longer.I cannot tell you how many missed birthday, anniversary, and Christmas pictures since this camera came into my life. What a dog!

4-0 out of 5 stars handy little compact 35mm
I picked out this camera for someone who wanted something small that uses 'film'This camera uses 35mm film but is as small as many advantix cameras. It takes nice clear pictures and is very easy to learn to use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great all purpose camera
The thing I love about this camera it is small enough to take everywhere... therefore you end up taking a lot more pictures. If we have friends in town, or we are tailgating, or we go to a party, we inevitably bring this camera along because it is so unintrusive ... it fits in my pocket no problem.Notwithstanding it size, it takes as good of pictures as any SLR (granted not quite as versatile).

5-0 out of 5 stars It very cool
This is a very cool overall camera! The zoom is average, but the picture quality is AMAZING!!!I use the cheapest film around and my brother is a camera freak and my camera still takes better pictures than his!I have had it for 5 years and I LOVE IT!!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Sliding door failed after minimal usage, otherwise great
I really loved this camera, but the sliding "door" broke and wouldn't close after only a few months of minimal usage.I don't know if I got a lemon, or what. The camera was never dropped or otherwise abused. I had had another Olympus for years with the same design, that worked great--it's really easy to get quick shots when you can slide off the lens cover and turn on the camera all in one quick motion ; I will most likely try another one even after my bad experience with this one.I hope that they have solved this issue, if it was widespread--at least one other reviewer mentioned the same problem...

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect point and click camera
The size and design of this camera make it ideal for what it is designed for.It takes great pictures in light and dark (though it's better at outdoor pictures) and it fits easily into your pocket. It opens quickly with one hand; no fumbling around with a lens cap.It focuses quickly so you can take a shot from a closed position very quickly.Read more

    Editorial Review

The Olympus I Zoom 75's sleek, lightweight form, zoom lens, and splashproof construction make it an ideal camera for travelers who want the advantages of the Advanced Photo System in a quality package. The compact 75 is protected in a splashproof metallic-looking cover, and sports a slimmer version of the Olympus signature sliding-clamshell case, allowing this model to fit easily in to a pocket. The only disadvantage to this camera's compactness is that the self-timer and flash buttons are a little hard to press since they're so small. The Olympus I Zoom 75's multi-autofocus system helps produce the best photos possible--we found the camera did a good job of focusing even when our subject wasn't dead center. The flash gave us a choice of auto, red-eye reduction, fill-flash, night scene, and off modes. The night-scene mode allows you to sync the flash with a slow shutter speed so that you can take portraits with a night scene in the background. The zoom lens--a bonus on such a compact camera--has a 28 to 75mm equivalent range, good for everything from wide-angle landscapes, to portraits and medium close-ups.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good Camera, but uses APS Film and reliabiliity in Question
Overall, if you want an APS camera, this one would be good. However, APS film is more expensive to buy and more expensive to develope (slightly), so I would look into a compact 35MM camera also.My camera performed well, but after a few years, the film slot won't open (jambed or something) , so I have abandoned it with a full role of film in it.Not worth fixing it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Reccomnded
This is and excellent camera. I highly recommend it for people you like to take pictures. You get sharp clear pictures

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Reliability
I bought this camera 2 years ago because of its compact size, APS features and the Olympus reputation. It does take good photos, and has almost every auto feature one could ask for. However my camera has experienced very poor reliablity and excessive use of batteries, compared to other autofocus cameras I have owned (Canon Elph, Pentax IQZoom, Canon Telemax). Without much hard handling or outdoor use, it has been serviced twice (defective lens cover/on-off switch, and shutter button failed). The red-eye feature results in excessive flash lamp discharge, and makes it hard to pose subjects, and uses batteries faster. Olympus factory service for each non-warranty incident is $$. Needeless to say, I didn't have it repaired the second time. ... Read more

When buying this camera, I had huge expectations.I previously had a canon, however it was getting a bit old. When I purchase a camera I look for one that is stylish as well as good quality. Many of my friends recommended olympus' cameras to me and so after much research I finally bought the Stylus Select 105.When buying this camera, I expected a top of the line pocket-sized camera.I half-got what I was expecting. It takes wonderful outdoor pictures which are very vivid and clear. However, in dark rooms or at night the pictures can get a little grainy and not as bright as I would want them to be.In the beginning, I tried using the nighttime features as well as the red-eye, however, DO NOT use it unless you have a tripod with you.The manual recommends a tripod, but I decided not to listen and tried it anyway. My returned pictures were blurry and awful.I couldn't even put them in my photo album they were so bad.But I'm much more careful now and don't even bother using the nighttime or red eye features. They're not even worth using unless you carry a tripod with you everywhere you go.Maybe the stylus select 105 did not live up to my expectations, but I do have to admit that it is very sturdy. Also, the camera case givin in the kit is horrible.Don't expect it to provide any protection. The stylus select 105 probably wouldn't need the protection, but I prefer to have some kind of padding protecting my camera even if it has an all-metal body.

5-0 out of 5 stars an everithing-in-one cam!
This is such a good camera!!!!!!!!!!!!2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I waited with much anticipation for this camera to be stocked after reading about it's new features in the press release in the fall.I purchased it as a gift for my wife for Christmas because our 6-year old Olympus Stylus Zoom 105 needed major repair. Our old camera took GREAT pictures - sharp, balanced exposures, great variable flash, etc.So, I had no problems buying another Olympus.Ilooked at the existing Olympus Zooms (115,140,170), but after comparing the pictures from my brother's Zoom 115 to our old Zoom 105, they still didn't seem as good.So I decided on the new Zoom 105.Read more

    Editorial Review

The Advanced Photo System (APS) has inspired new levels of innovation in the point-and-shoot camera category. Though late to the game in bringing APS cameras to market, Olympus more than makes up for its tardiness with the Newpic Zoom 90. What really sets APS cameras apart from their 35mm cousins is ease of use. And the Newpic Zoom 90 is one of the easiest APS point-and-shoot cameras around. The camera has a 30-90mm zoom lens (equivalent to a 38-115mm lens in the 35mm format) with an active autofocus system; the focus lock lets you zero in on subjects that are outside the autofocus range. The Newpic Zoom 90 has six flash modes, including red-eye reduction and fill. As with most APS cameras, film loading is practically idiot-proof and pictures can be formatted in three sizes: Classic (C--4 inches by 6 inches); HDTV (H--4 inches by 7 inches), and Panoramic (P--3.5 inches by 10 inches). The Newpic Zoom 90 includes a self-timer, a diopter viewfinder adjustment, which is important to those who are nearsighted or farsighted, and a time-date stamp function. Straightforward and easy to use, the Newpic Zoom 90 is a great way to get started in APS photography. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Newpic 90 does the job!
This is a great camera for beginners and shutterbugs who don't have the patience to deal with professional photographic equipment. The APS features are fantastic giving you the ability to capture the entire Harbor Bridge on panoramic, and change film instantly while hanging from a ski lift without concern for film exposure or proper placement inside the camera casing. Its zoom lens is quite long compared to other cameras of the same type and price range. My pictures have always come out clear and crisp. Its also very durable and the rubber grip on the side makes it easy to hold unlike other all metal casing cameras.I have even dropped it in a waterfall, and although it is not waterproof and I wouldn't suggest doing it, the camera still worked after the water drained out of it.If you can still get your hands on one of these cameras, go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, Glad I bought it
Very nice camera, good quality and a good price. Pick up a cheap APS book for some pointers and don't forget the batteries -- not included :-( ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst camera I've owned - - I threw my money away
In July 2004, just a month after I got the 140 QD CG camera, it started jamming when I'd extend the zoom lens.Made a series of horrid clicking sounds when I'd extend it, or try to pull it back in.Put in fresh battery (again), tried again - - jammed up, wouldn't rewind the film at the end of a roll, lost all photos. Boxed it up, sent it back to Olympus at my expense, and received it back about 3 weeks later, with a xeroxed piece of paper - - no letter of explanation as to repair or problem - - just a schematic of the film case, yellow-highlighted, and all I could gather from this lack of information was they were trying to tell me I was loading the film incorrectly. That would make the zoom lens and lens cover jam and click and take out-of-focus photos?I think not.So, back from the factory, I proceeded to try again, and the camera worked for about a month - - by December same problems were back - - several rolls of film later, photos still coming back out of focus, zoom lens jamming, lens cover jamming.Haven't decided yet whether to return it to Olympus and tell them they've lost me as a customer, or throw it off the highest cliff.Don't waste your money on this product. It was disappointing to find out that Olympus doesn't seem to care about communicating or making things right. This was my first and last Olympus product, even though I'd heard great things about their stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!Simple to use, great photos.
The two most important features to me are the quality of the photos a camera takes (with and w/out the zoom), and how quickly the picture is taken when you press the shutter and quick speed between photos. This camera delivers both those features.5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Camera
It doesn't suck.I cannot believe some of the negative comments about this camera.I've had one for a while and it's always taken great pictures. The only problems that I've had is when the people at Eckerd screw up the processing (but they have ALWAYS reprinted at NO COST) to correct the problems. For a point and shoot, it does a great job of focusing.1 last thing, use Fuji film.I have always had better results with it than Kodak. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Poor quality camera
I bought two of these cameras as gifts. Picture quality was ok...not great clarity but good color. Good for birthday party snapshots. After a few months, the sliding door stopped working on one of them. And shortly after the warranty expired (1 year) the other camera stopped working. Olympus phone service and Web site offered no help except to suggest that the only way to get it repaired was to mail it to them. For the price of $75.00 they would fix it. As the camera cost me $92.00, I'll just toss it in the trash. And NEVER buy an Olympus camera again!! That's my product review.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera!
Let me say I'm a bit of a camera freak so I have had many different cameras and have researched them. This is a great camera! I wouldn't consider it "ultra-compact" given what's on the market these days (I would consider it fairly average), but I have not been disappointed with the outcome of my pictures taken with this camera. Just make sure the camera is able to focus. I took it to Hawaii and it took great pictures with or without flash! I took pictures in the evening, from inside a submarine, at night, inside, outside,... just about everywhere in every type of situation! I hardly made any adjustments and it took beautiful pictures! The shake sensor.. you have to set the camera to that mode in order to use it and i believe it doesn't stay activated after you've taken a picture. I find myself having to reactivate that feature every time I want to take a picture using it. However, I rarely use it. As far as I can tell, the sensor only really works if the camera is shaking pretty hard, but maybe the camera is just that good and will only really take a bad shot if you're in a really shaky situation. For being an all-weather designed camera, I think it would've been better if it were made of metal like the all-weather Stylus Select 105. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Like the brand, camera OK
I purchased this camera from my mother when she went digital.I like this camera, but the auto focus drives me nuts.As someone who takes lots of pictures of wildlife as i hike and horseback ride, it is frustrating to not get the picture because the auto focus won't focus for a quick shot.I have gotten good shots, as did my mother before me but we both dislike the auto focus.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous camera
I'm a photography student and this is my first SLR.I bought here on Amazon but through the MarketPlace at a highly discounted price.I am thrilled at the shots I've taken in the past six months.I've learned to use the manual features to enhance my pictures and feel comfortable in many situations to use the fully automatic focus, aperture, f stop, etc.
2-0 out of 5 stars What a CRAPPY camera!
