5-0 out of 5 stars a great little camera
I think this is a great camera.I got it for a trip to Russia a year ago, and it worked really well.My pictures have turned out very clear and sharp. The only problem is that now it's about a year and a half old (having taken about 100 rolls of film), it doesn't always take the picture right away, despite pressing the button and the auto focusing lights coming on.But as long as I am patient, it works well.Pictures are still excellent quality.

3-0 out of 5 stars GREAT CAMERA
THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE CAMERA, VERY PLEASED, BEATS THE HECK OF OF MY CANON ELPH.

4-0 out of 5 stars My pictures don't stink anymore!
I've always used cheap 35mm and disposable cameras. Now that my daughter is growing up and becoming more involved in various sports and school activities I've long wanted to have a serious camera with zoom so I can get good upclose high quality shots. I decided to splurge on the N65 after doing lots of internet research and talking to variety of photographer type folks.4-0 out of 5 stars A great SLR for beginners and advanced amateurs
I bought this camera four months ago knowing nothing about photography. Now, thanks to my F65, I'm shooting slide films and learning the zone system and continue to amaze ppl with my wonderful pictures. I had a chance to play with the more advanced F80 but besides the faster flash sync offered I'm fully satisfied with my easier-to-manage F65. By "easier" I don't mean any loss in functionalities or features. Advanced features like multiple exposures, depth-of-view preview and auto bracketing are all there inside this compact, light weight body. There's an optional infra red remote for this camera that functions like a cable release which's a must for night and serious photography too. The camera works with all AI and AFS Nikkor lenses. A shutter speed of 1/2000 is more than adequate for all conditions and film pull/push can be achieved by exposure compensation despite the fact that we can't directly manipulate the ISO setting. It's a perfect camera for novices with its automatic modes, and for advanced users with its possible manual settings. The matrix metering is reliable and accurate, the center weighted metering is good for low light or night photography. It doesn't have spot metering, but it isn't necessary anyway as a real professional won't need a on-camera spot meter. So unless you're in need of a faster flash sync for wildlife photography or a more rugged but heavier body, there're really no reasons to go for higher models. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful Nikon value! Crisp, sharp photos!
It used to be you had to save your pennies and dimes to buy a Nikon camera.I purchased this camera a couple of years ago and it was priced a lot higher than it is now.I've owned Pentax 35 mm cameras, Minolta and an earlier Nikon point and shoot from around 1990.This one is one of the best as far as quality and clarity of photos I've ever owned.Nikon has always had excellent lens, perhaps among the finest in the world.I publish a historical magazine which requires sometimes that I shoot photos of current buildings, homes and autos for ads or articles and I have never been dissapointed with the sharpness and clarity of these photos.I have not taken photos at night, but I feel that there is a slight delay in the shutter in poor light. But for a basic clear shot of a subject, the quality is hard to beat.I've used Kodak HD film and Fuji film and found the Kodak HD film to be incredibly sharp. The camera is very light and can fit inside a coat pocket or shirt pocket. How can you go wrong with a camera this inexpensive and with such good quality.Highly recommended!

2-0 out of 5 stars Very fuzzy closeups!!!
I bought this camera for my daughter for her baby shower and am very disappointed. It is not up to par for the Nikon name.Point and shoot quality very nice, BUT any close shots taken were very fuzzy!!!Not good when shooting pictures of a newborn baby!Every roll developed had poor quality pictures of her.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not Satisfied
My Canon Sure Shot was the best camera I ever had. After a few years, the flash wouldnt recharge.I purchased the Nikon based on the new lenses claiming high clearity.I havent seen the clearity.Delays from the focus feature is another disappointment. If given the choice again, I would purchase the Canon Sure Shot and pay the difference. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great no-fuss automatic camera
I received this camera as a gift and have used it for many years. It is a nice simple camera if you don't want to fuss with focus and lots of settings. However, it does allow you to zoom in to your subject easily. Also has a macro feature--I got some great close-up shots of orchids on my honeymoon in Hawaii! It is also easy to load with film. You just put the film in, and it winds it up nicely.I am not a professional photographer and this camera was perfect for me.

1-0 out of 5 stars not surprised they discontinued it
Let's see, how can I say this diplomatically........ OK,here goes;this camera ..... The picture quality is poor, the sharpness of the images is poor. The flash on button sticks out so that when you put it in your case, or as in my wifes case, her purse, all it has to do is bump something and the flash gets turned on. It doesn't have a battery saver, so you may take one picture, put the camera away and when you get it out next time the batteries are dead. This has happened to us innumerable times in spite of our awareness of the problem. It's one of those things that gets you no matter how careful you are. I wouldn't buy one used even if it were dirt cheap. Other than that, it's a great camera............. ... Read more

The Nikon FM10 with 35-70 mm Nikkor Lens is a totally manual 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera--great for those who want to learn the mechanics of photography from the ground up. Without fancy computerized features to confuse or override your personal artistic choices, the Nikon FM10 relies on the photographer to do most of the thinking, but it does offer a depth-of-field preview and a center-weighted light metering system. Focus and aperture are manual, and you can select film speeds down to 1/2000 second. You also have manual film wind and rewind, allowing you to create double exposures or rewind your film midroll.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!
This is the best camera ever, when compared to others the FM10 blew it away, the FM was much more durable and takes better pictures (my friend has one of the competitors) and now that she's seen mine, she is very jealous! The pictures are outstanding.Built to last and if you're a beginner to a pro I think you'll be pleased!I was just starting out as a photographer and now after 2 years I still can't put it down.If you're thinking about buying this camera, don't, just get it!!

4-0 out of 5 stars scary at first, but i loved it
i took a beginning b&w photo class in college a year ago and this was the camera they had in the lab to lend out to people who didnt own a slr of their own. at first i was scared on how to use the thing, it seems complicated but its really not. once you get the hang of it, i loved it. its all manual which is great for control purposes. now that ive got some cash, im gonna buy the nikon fm10 slr for myself to use.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fine until the zoom broke
My Nikon Lite Touch 140 was fine until the zoom broke shortly after the 1-year warranty expired.I take care of my camera, so it was not my fault. The $70 bill was disappointing.A little latter the cord snagged a corner and tore open a metal cover, so again I had it repaired at my expense.

2-0 out of 5 stars I would never buy a nikon again

I drove cross country and backpacked europe and never lost a picture do to the camera. I dropped it once from about four feet onto blacktop and no problems but a little nick and the sand from cannon beach has still not given me problems. This is a very good camera and i would recommend trying nikon out. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use with average results
Overall an average camera. I would expect more from a trusted name like Nikon. At times, photos come out over-exposed. Generally, images are sharp and clear. Camera is light-weight and very easy to operate. Camera must be held still to get the sharpest photos. Sometimes daylight shots come out grainy. A good camera if your expectations are not too high.

1-0 out of 5 stars Miserable camera from great manufacturer
I got this for my wife based on my extensive experience with Nikon's pro gear. It is a complete and unmitigated failure. All shots are over-exposed. Lens is not sharp. Tons of flare in adverse lighting situations. You have to teach yourself to hold the camera steady for a good long time to allow the (slower than molasses in January) autofocus to lock onto the subject.Once it is done acquiring what it feels is critical focus it renders perfectly out of focus pictures every time. It appears to focus five feet in front of the object. Close up pictures are off center and the parallax adjust in the viewfinder does not adequately compensate. I own a rangefinder camera so I am aware how to use this feature, it just does not yield accurate results on this camera. This camera is a bad train accident. I had no idea that Nikon was capable of such a travesty. It is not clear how some of the early reviews of this product were positive. Either the reviewers had different samples and Nikon changed their production technique (substituting ED glass with coke bottle bottoms) or the reviewers were paid plants for Nikon USA or they lack any redeeming photographic skill. It is interesting that all recent reviews are abysmal. Nikon really dropped the ball here. The camera didn't have to be great to satisfy me; it simply takes horrible pictures and is in every way unacceptable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I bought this camera expecting it to replace an olympus stylus epic zoom 80. The nikon had everything going for it: more zoom, a diopter adjustment for use without glasses, the nikon name, etc. After the first roll of film I discovered many of the pictures were very off center and I often had to press the button several times to get it to take a picture. I thought I could compensate for that with my 10+ years of hobby-photo experience, but after the second roll of film I realized it wasn't worth it. Even zoomed out it seemed that pictures were off center. Several times I missed the perfect picture because the camera didn't take the picture the first time I pressed the button. The graphic quality of the picture may be great but that doesn't make up for the off center composition and missed shots. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Does not include camera, case only with book and filters
Okay so I'm ignorant about cameras. I probably should have done some research and then I would have known that there was no way you could buy a Nikon camera with a nice case for $49.99 but if you click on the photo above you will see different views of the camera. Also if you read the product description and the tech data you would think you were getting a camera. So today my order arrived. It was a nice Nikon case, with a user's guide, and a round plastic container of filters. I talked to a Onecall customer rep and he confirmed that the SLR value kit does not contain a camera. So for any of you newbies out there who think you might want to buy this "camera" think again. I will say if you want a nice pricey camera case, this one looks pretty good. But it's going back to OneCall tomorrow. I am giving it 5 stars because it is a nice case and it's not OneCall's fault that it is misrepresented here.

5-0 out of 5 stars N75 is Body Only in Black
The N75 is a great new camera from Nikon which is really a small step down from the N80 in features and performance. The small body size is similar to the N55 and is easy to handle with well placed controls and dials. The build quality is typical Nikon and quite solid. There are subtle extras, such as depth of field preview, that seem to be omitted from most SLRs these days. And the metal lens attachment is a nice upgrade from the plastic versions on my previous "entry level" cameras from Canon and Nikon. Read more

! was about to complete my order on this item when i saw the shipping and handling costs, so I will now look to some other E business to buy this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have
If you have a coolpix camera and have not yet purchased this filter kit, I highly recommend that you do so.I have the coolpix 4300 and in order to use the filters, I had to purchase the UR-E4 adapter. If your camera needs an adapter to use these filters, then you will also need to get another lens cap to fit over them.If you go to nikonmall.com you can purchase the 28mm lens cap to fit, I think the model ID is LC-E900 (costs $2.50 + shipping), or something like that. But for the price, this is a must have, because I don't know about you, but i would rather need to replace an inexpensive filter than replace my entire camera.I leave the UV filter on at all times for a lens protector. I have taken many pictures with and without the filters, and I am hooked on these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truly wonderful Micro lens
This is a very well designed performer in the Micro photography world within the Nikon family. This is definitely one of my favorite lenses to photograph nature with, as you can see from my sample shots on this page. The build quality is nice. The lens is light. The images it produces are clean and sharp.
5-0 out of 5 stars A legend
In every manufacturer's linup of lenses there are always a few that achieve "legendary" status among devotees of the brand. For Nikon users lenses like the 80-200 f4.5 MF or 80-200 f2.8 MF or AF come immediately to mind. The AF105mm f2.8 is such a lens.
5-0 out of 5 stars Among the best macro lenses in its focal length
The only lenses which are optically better than this lens are the recently discontinued Contax Carl Zeiss 100mm f 2.8 Makro Planar which I own and the Leica 100mm f2.8 APO Elmarit-R lens, which is regarded not only as the best 100mm macro telephoto lens, but also among the best in the Leica R 35mm SLR lens system. Like its sibling, the 60mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor, the 105mm f2.8 Micro Nikkor offers close focusing down to a 1:1 life size reproduction ratio. In plain English, this is the perfect lens to use to get close to insects, frogs or anything else which is small, living and liable to move quickly if it is disturbed by the photographer. The 105mm lens will give you more space to work with, so you don't have to stand literally on top of the object you're photographing. I relied on the manual focusing version of this lens - which didn't have a 1:1 reproduction ratio - for photographing small invertebrate fossils years ago. I was impressed by the superb contrast and resolution, which has only been bettered by the Zeiss lens I own currently. I have no doubt that this autofocusing version of the 105mm Micro Nikkor is a superb performer in its own right. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic camera, but not for everyone
I'm amazed by some of the negative reviews on this camera. The FM3a is a fully manual camera. While it does take batteries, it's intended to be completely usable with no batteries. I can't think of another 35mm camera with all these features that will still work at all shutter speeds of the batteries die.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the reasons I will never stray away from Nikon
Most camera manufactuers don't even offer a manual focus camera, and their lens mount changed during the autofocus era, but the FM3A is an example of Nikon's loyalty to "old school" diehards. There's some automation that makes life much easier- Aperture priority, TTL flash, and it reads the DX coding on the film so you don't have to set it manually. It's built very well and can stand up to rugged use. The black costs about $20 more than the silver, but I don't mind paying extra for the "pro" look.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of Nikon's Best Cameras
The Nikon FM3A is the camera Nikon should have made back in the 1980's. It combines the aperture priority automation of the Nikon FE2 with the manual only ease of operation of the Nikon FM series. Indeed, if the batteries should die, this camera should still work at virtually all shutter speeds under manual mode. It is also blessed with the traditional Nikon 60/40 center-weighted metering found in many of Nikon's manual cameras, dating from the last Nikkormats. It handles as well as its illustrious predecessors, but here, I think it is built so that it can be more durable than either the FE or FM cameras. In short, it is an excellent second body for someone seeking a durable backup to go with their Nikon F2A/AS, Nikon F3, F4 or current autofocus cameras. And for others interested primarily in working with Nikon's manual focusing lenses, it may be their primary body. Admittedly, it isn't cheap, but it is designed to be a professional workhorse and the price seems to reflect it. If I was still using Nikon equipment, I wouldn't hesitate adding the FM3A to my SLR kit. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera
This is a great little camera for an amateur photographer looking to get a little more advanced with a manual camera. It allows you to manage your own aperature, shudder-speed, and focus, but is able to switch to automatic mode, and manages these settings itself. Also, if you spring for an auto-focus lens (not that much more), the camera will focus on the subject for you. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite Possibly Nikon's Best Wide Angle Lens
The 28mm f1.4D AF Nikkor lens has become a favorite lens of many photojournalists. It's not difficult to see why. Judging from the reports of and images taken with this lens, it may be the best fast wide angle 35mm lens available now in the market. True, it may be Nikon's most expensive autofocus wide angle lens, but you get what you pay for with regards to lens construction and performance. Its performance is truly stellar, with excellent contrast and resolution from f1.4 onwards. It would be difficult for me to say that the 28mm f2 ASPH Summicron lens made by Leica for its Leica M series rangefinder cameras is as fine a performer as the 28mm f1.4D Nikkor. Would the average amateur user of a Nikon autofocus 35mm SLR system need this lens? Probably not. But without a doubt, it is quite handy in low light situations. If I owned a Nikon autofocus 35mm SLR, I wouldn't hesitate adding the 28mm f1.4D AF Nikkor to my kit.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, fast lens lets you shoot hand held, no flash, anytime
People are taken aback at the price of this lens (I got a 99% new one used for about 60% of list) but it's performance is utterly amazing.Usually "fast" lenses are touted as F2.8, but this is two whole stops faster. You can't beat a wider angle lens that lets you shoot in low light conditions or when a flash is inappropriate or doesn't allow you to achieve the effects you want.Indoor photos in a house, under daylight diffused through windows, are very possible.Four stars out of five (it IS expensive!). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
This camera has been one of the best investments I have made.I spent a year studying and traveling in Europe with it and got some GREAT pics. The lighting is always near perfect... great for shots of people, landscapes, pretty much anything. One of my profs reccomended it to me and I am SO happy I took his advice.I've had it for about two years now.GREAT CAMERA!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Product
I got this camera after a long confusing time of research for a photography class. After shooting two rolls of film i am very impressed with the ease of use and quality of pictures that have resulted from my camera. It's also a Nikon so I can be sure that there are plenty of upgrades that I can buy if I ever wanted to go further into photography. But 400 some dollars is alot to pay for it (i got it at my local talls camera for 280).Definately go out and buy this camera if you were lost and confused like me.It's also cool when you see every one walking around with their Rebels taking worse pictures than you are. ...
