Must be a better machine
Replaced an old Sharp fax machine with what I thought was newer and better machine. WRONG!! if you don't baby it , it will not feed multiple pages. likes to pull two or three sheets at a time. What a pain! Other functions are not as intuitive as one would expect.

Absolute Junk
I purchased this model around 6 months ago, and the problems continue every day.This machine won't fax multiple pages...instead it likes to pull the whole 5 or 6 page set through at once, thus jamming and causing headache.Secondly, the machine likes to jam up while receiving.I am not the only one I know with these problems.

FANTASTIC photo printer
After a tremendous amount of research, I bought this printer for my parents and was SO impressed with it that I was sad to leave it at their house!The picture quality is phenomenal (and I have seen dozens of different methods of producing prints), and the colors are truer to life than some of even my studio prints of the same pictures (I tried it by printing some copies of my wedding pictures).The copy feature does just a beautiful a job as the print feature does, and it's a BREEZE to use and set up.If it's not clear in the description, this machine also makes prints from negatives and those old-school slides (from the '70s?), which is unheard of in a home printer in all my research.Finally (and MOST importantly) the print cartridges are truly cheap to purchase: it costs around $9 to buy any of the colors, and the cartridge lasts for a while even after printing 100 or so pictures.My parents absolutely love it.If you're looking for an all-in-one and want a good photo printer, do not look any further.

Just what I wanted
Seeing the price of this fax and others on the market, I knew I wasn't getting anything more than what I paid for.But I will have to say if does the job that I expected.I did not get this for its printing or copy ability.Although it does make copies they are not of the high quality, but I only got this machine to send an occasional fax.I am very happy with it, it works and if you read the directions you can actually make it do what it says it will.

really disappointing
bad print quantity, noisy, wierd hanlding procedures .... Unless you know how to set the TX speed to 9600, you never be able to send fax to those who use old fax machines. The stupid dial delay will cut all voice menu when you call some automatted service. So many warning noises, so many failures ... We hope it can save us some ink cost before we throw it away. ... Paper grabbing, ink-toner eater
I've had the B740 for a while. It does a fast job of sending out FAXes. It switches nicely between phone & FAX.Goes through the Canon toners like a binge eater.It has two problems that are making me search for another brand or model as I add a FAX to another location:1) the paper feeding is not even.The machine grabs two piece of paper at once no matter how careful I am, so I often have to fax items more than once. 2) When you dial and get a busy signal, the machine redials.There is no way to cancel the FAX in between its redialing. You have to catch it during the redial.If you have the wrong number, heaven help the person at the other end of the line. The incoming copies are so-so.
Where is the waste paper basket?
Having had a $600 dollar machine and going to this Canon copier was a horrible experience.Going through the functions was a bad experience, the product was difficult to work and I am an electrical engineer.I read from someone else that you will go through print cartridges like toilet paper, oh my god, he was right. Works great!
We like this machine! and use it in our church/school office.One touch receiving for incoming faxes on our phone line.Depending on your usage, the black ink cartridge is small but we used ours for about 3 months before it ran out. (a larger black cartridge is available, if you don't use color).Read more
