5-0 out of 5 stars Better than its peers
one word to describe this camera would be "QUICK" startup. battery life is excellent. LCD(not optical) viewfinder is a cool addition. though autofocus is a little slow under high zoom, i like the other features. simplicity is what you will find when you operate the software. it is a very good buy compared to similar cameras with 12x zoom with Anti-Shake. 4MP is a little low for big natural scenaries, but it suits me just fine. i shall always recommend this camera for beginners and intermediate photographers.

2-0 out of 5 stars Consider another brand
I have owned this camera for 16 months. I'd guess I am an average user in respect to how often I use the camera. I have taken extremely good care of it. Not a single mark on it. One day it just stopped working. Wouldn't turn on. It's currently at Minolta to be fixed to the tune of $160. Personally I find this unacceptable. My suggestion is to look at other brands.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too many bugs!
The biggest problem with this camera is the focusing apparatus...much too sensitive and frequently does not work. The pictures are never as clear as my SLR Canon and I shall go back to that. The viewer is entirely too small and difficult to see whether the clarity is truly there. The wide angle adaptor lens is also not productive.Especially annoying with the camera is with a small group of people at relatively same range of distance......most of them are out of focus (and, yes, I did focus on the one at mid-range.The company at 47th street disregarded my request for a new operator's manual and suggested I get one through Google......fine, but I couldn't download it onto a disc with my limited features on my computer!Writing to Konika Minolta in New Jersey over three months ago brought no satisfaction from them, either.Incidentally, I misplaced the operator's manual while returning from a painting trip to Florence, Italy the early part of October 2005.Nothing but frustration with this Konika Minolta and the representatives! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good!
This camera replaces a wonderful but bulky Cannon 4MP.While on a trip to Japan, I realized I should've packed my little brick of a camera.I decided to go price some of the cameras there, expecting their usually expensive prices.I found this one for $170 (a favorable Yen rate helped).I bought it, and the clerk was nice enough to change the menu language to English. The book, however, is in Japanese.I set out to get some shots, day and night. The instant preview was useful since I was able to adjust settings and retake to see the difference (you can zoom on the preview screen).I had a 1 gig SD card in my PDA which is now in the camera. At first it did not read it, but after a couple of format trial and errors, I got it to work perfectly. At the highest setting, and taking some movies, it proved to be enough for lots of pictures.I'm grateful for the reviewers who mentioned the ISO setting recommendation:I'll try that.I found the controls and menus sufficent for taking great pictures without the benefit of the manual.I will download the english version at the earliest opportunity, though.Don't you just love the internet?????
5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera....awesome photos!!
I love this camera. I get great pictures in all kinds of light, indoors or outdoors, flash or no flash. The pics are crisp and capture every detail (even stuff you don't know you're shooting!). I've had professional quality results when taking portraits. The LCD screen is a good size and the photo options are alot of fun. Even the video feature is pretty good, with a better than expected mic range. I reccomend this camera every chance I get!

5-0 out of 5 stars Forget reviews all over the net, its a wonderful camera!!!!!!
After going thru many sites to get some input on the Minolta Dimaage X1, I was shocked, never have I seen such terrible reviews,

5-0 out of 5 stars Full Respect!
I've owned this camera for about 2 yrs. now...I have learned to respect everything about it.At first I was a little imtimidated by all the features, however...if you want more than a point-n-shoot...this is fabulous.I have taken a few photography courses, and in every class, it's held it's own...up there w/the pro's.The material that it is made out of does seem like it could break easily, like others have said...but it has been through a lot w/me.(kids/hikes/falls/travels/etc...and it has proven sturdy).I bought 2 packs of rechargeable batteries at the beginning, and after high usage, still using those same ones. I like this camera so much that I'm starting to panic that if something does happen (like it breaks, falls into a waterfall, or I lose it)I am now pricing new ones of the same model.Boy it is a good deal these days.I spent almost $500. for it 2 yrs. ago, and now I see them at so much less, new.Get yourself a huge camera card...you'll want to be snapping away!!

3-0 out of 5 stars A little "frail"
This camera is overall good buy for the price, however, it feels like it is going to break apart in my hands. The body is very poorly constructed, made out of cheap plastic. The black grip from the picture looks as if it is rubber, but...no. It is cheap plastic like the rest of it. Too bad, with a little extra "beef" it could be a bargain.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing for the price
I got it refurbished from ubid for only 179. It arrived in new condition, fully functional. for that funny price I could have maybe gotten a funny pocket camera. Although I must admit I considered getting the panasonic lz2 with the 6x zoom. They are both great buys but if you want something more advanced the this is the way to go. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera -- bad warrenty
I've been using Minolta equipment of some sort for over 20 years now.Had a 7Hi which is a good camera but this a200 is even better.8 Mega pixels is way better than 5.1 -- the movie options are better (800x600) -- the anti-shake feature is a lot better than the 7Hi.Limitations however are as others describe--battery is difficult to find, if you use the RAW format (which why would you NOT use the maximum capacity of the camera) it becomes a storage hog.I routinely convert the RAW file to TIFF to use with iPhoto and suddenly a 11 MB file jumps to over 45!Ouch!
5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera
I have travelled to Europe twice and counted on this camera to bring back great shots, and I haven't been disappointed. Added the wide angle lens and it has been outstanding.
4-0 out of 5 stars One year later, what do I think?
I reviewed my a200 last summer, I thought it would be interesting to note how I feel about the camera now.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!LOVE THIS CAMERA
I bought this refubished from a dealer here and I feel like I took advantage of Amazon. This is a great camera with amazing control and it is easy to use.I would not recommend it to a novice photographer but if you love to plow through menus to get the results you want this is the camera for you.It also starts up very quickly and sips battery power.I took at least 300-400 photos on my first set of batteries.Buy it and love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars User friendly!
I was looking for something to replace my Sony Cybershot and had my eye on this model for some time. While picking up pictures at my local Sam Walton's, I found this one reduced to 199.00 and bought it.It takes incredible pictures and it's very comfortable to use, even those "can you take one of us" to a stranger comes out great. The flash is simple and you can zoom and snap with one hand at the same time. There are two drawbacks in my opinion, the lens cap is not attached and it seems to eat batteries.I quickly switched to rechargeables and have since found that by not using the LCD display all the time and switching to rechargeables eliminates that aspect of it. It's not a mini, you definitely know that it's dangling from your neck but none of these would keep me from making this purchase again. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good quality camera.

4-0 out of 5 stars User Friendly camera

4-0 out of 5 stars Point and shoot at its purest
After some researched, I brought the Kinica Minolta X60 to served as my backup to my Canon S2 IS. X60 is a small, slim and lightweight camera that is perfect for a quick photo almost anywhere because you can stick this camera almost anywhere on you.
5-0 out of 5 stars THE PERFECT COMPACT CAMERA
I researched extensively before I purchased this camera.I read every professional and customer review I could.I compared features, sizes, prices, ratings, everything.I checked out the cameras in stores and online.Based on all of that info I finally decided on the Konica Minolta X60 5MP.After using the camera on an almost daily basis for several months now I am happy to say that I made the right choice.
1-0 out of 5 stars Fragile LCD...Terrible customer service
I did a fair amount of research before purchasing the Dimage x60. As far as form factor, I like it. The picture quality is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than you might think for it's intended purpose
I have read a few bad reviews for the X50, but most of them point out that they bought lemons. I think this has to do with the camera's size and intrinsic frailness if it is not assembled right. So, be sure you buy it someplace that will replace it or refund your money, so you will have recourse if you have this experience.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent camera for the price
I spent almost 2 months searching the internet for a camera, when a friend recommened Konica Minolta. They had previously bought another model and loved it. I looked on the Minolta sight and saw this camera. However, I looked at the price range, and it was very far out of my budget. This seemed like the ideal camera for me, except for the price. It was small and very travel-friendly. I scanned ebay, and I found a great deal, for $100, new! I was delighted, and when it came, I tested it out, and it was perfect. I love this camera because of the size, the picture quality, and it's EXCELLET super macro mode. I had high expectations, and it met all of them. The only reason that I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the internal optical zoom is a bit loud, and the battery life is questionable. But so far this has been a great camera for a beginner, like me, and I highly recommend it. If you are thinking of buying this camera, I would recommend you by a protective case for traveling and a screen protector.

2-0 out of 5 stars To unpredictable, fragile and unreliable for the money
I bought this camera because of the size, the "decent" zoom and mostly the 5.0 megaPix, but I was very disappointed in to time. The reason I say unpredictable, because when it comes to taking pictures with the zoom and or the flash feature, you never know what you will get. I'm a modest with digital cameras and photography but still, when I use the zoom, 8 out of 10 pics come out so extremely fuzzy I end up deleting them. This goes for the so call "macro" feature as well, which was the main reason I needed the camera in the first place. The flash is so unreliable even in the proper background. I waste to much precious time trying to fiddle and view the pic in the display, praying its ok, due to the lousy focus lens. This brings me to say, I also think the response time is to slow when trying to get a good shots. You would think for all the features the camera offers the response would be a little faster. I think partly because it has such a poor focus lens that it takes precious time trying to focus, by the time it "clicks" it's too late and yet it still comes out fuzzy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love my minolta!
I have a Dimage G400 that I carry around every day since it is so compact. It has consistently given me fabulous results and out-performed my canon SD 500 in quality. Because of this, I gave the Canon away.
5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent DSLR
I've been using my Maxxum 5D for about a month now and could not be more impressed. It has excellent ergonomics, great features (like antishake), and of course, produces high quality images.I moved up from a Canon point and shoot and I really appreciate these features: 1) no shutter lag, 2) long battery life, 3) great low-light performance, 4) interchangeable lenses, 5) RAW format support.I am shooting only RAW these days and using Photoshop Elements 3.0 to do the conversion to JPEG.While it is true the camera will usually do a good job, with RAW you have a good chance to fix that important picture where the exposure and white balance is just wrong.
5-0 out of 5 stars Extraordinary DSLR Camera For Wannabe Pros (or real ones)
This DSLR is as good as it gets in the "Pro-sumer" (advanced amateur...wannabe pro) category. The Konica Minolta Maxxum 5Dis as good (or better) than all the others in its class (e.g, Nikon and Canon) but comes with the anti-shake feature. It is also among the least expensive in its class.Get it while you still can.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable - does it all
This camera has the speed needed in snapping off multiple photos without stopping. The reset speed is remarkably faster than I had expected. This camera does just about everything I ever wanted to do using a digital camera.I enter photo contests, and get great results. The Optical zoom is more than the average 3X Optical. It seems to do anything other cameras do, only with that little added touch. Can't beat the price, and appears to withstand punishment; no bumps or bruises.

4-0 out of 5 stars solid build for the money
I bought this camera about a year ago (and am now looking to replace it).I purchased it because it has a very nice lens for a camera in this price range (I paid $159 last year). It also has a metal body (most in this range are plastic).

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this camera
This is such a great little camera! I've had it less than a year and I've taken some pretty nice pictures (you can see a few on "share your images".
5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera
I have two little beautiful girls and I love taking pictures of them. I have had the camera for two years now and it works great. I have had no problems with it. The thing I love the most is that I can record a small video (depends on the memory card) and send it to my mom and my family by e-mail instead of having to send them a video of the girls through the mail. When I download the video to my computer it looks like I had taped it with a camcorder. It looks great. It also takes beautiful pictures and a lot of people ask me where did I buy the camera because it looks expensive but it really isn't. I even have a picture of my girls in the pool where you can see the drops of water perfectly when they splashed. It was worth the money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Never Again
I bought this camera a couple of years ago, and had problems with the auto focus. About a year ago the battery cover wouldn't close all the way due to a broken tab in the cheesy cover. Well I just sent it in to be repaired, and guess what they want $150 to fix it. That's almost half the price of the camera for a 10 cent item and probably all of 15 minutes to fix. I won't be getting it fixed (I'll tape it shut), and I won't ever buy another camera from Minolta. Let the buyer beware. Stay away from Minolta unless you like spending your money on repairs. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera!!
I finally converted to digital this month and immediately took it on a two week trip to Italy.Although the camera has plenty of options and adjustments available, the settings are easy to figure out and the small manual is understandable and is organized in a way to makes it easy to find the explanations needed. The photo quality is excellent and the anti shake technology really works, even with my18-200 mm lens.I carried a spare charged battery since I seemed to use one up before I was finished taking photos.

5-0 out of 5 stars I would give it 10 stars but it is not an option
This is a real bargain right now and soon you won't be able to get one.Don't listen to a handful of the negative reviews. KM still exists, but now will be making cameras for Sony. It is supported by Sony and new lenses will be available soon.Digital Cameras are like computers these days.In a couple of years as technology changes, you will want to upgrade the body anyway.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent camera
The Maxxum 7D is much more than I expected from a digital SLR.I have used the Canon eos. The 7D is much easier to use and results are much better.

I bought the Dimage Z5 a few months ago as a portable backup to my Rebel XT for $199 from B&H photo. The idea was to take it to outdoor sporting events so I could zoom in on the action.Unfortunately, it never actually made it to the ballpark. While putting it through its paces during some outdoor festivals and backyard BBQ's, the pictures it took were not what I expected.Understand, I was not expecting the performace that I get from my SLR, in fact I would be quite angry if a compact camera could give me those kinds of images.I also was not expecting the noise problem that I had with virtually every shot.
4-0 out of 5 stars User Friendly Digital Camera & ExcellentVGA Video
I like this Camera for its ease of use. Good for amatures and for people like me who likes photography as a hobby. It does kind of short when it comes to some picture quality( just a little bit). but dont get me wrong! the photos are great, colors are lively ! but compare to DSLR- Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras with interchageable lenses this camera (Z5) is a little bit short in photo quality. If you're more of a Pro-hobbyist in photography this camera is not for you, better go for Nikon D50 or Canon Rebel XT. But for now, My DImage Z5 is all I need. The picture quality is close to my Nikon N6006 SLR Film Camera. It out performs my Nikon Coolpix 775, HP Photosmart E317 5.0 MPixels & Vivitar 3.0 MP. Im kind of a little bit dissapointed because after a few months that I bought it the newer Model Z6 arrives with the same price tag. The Z5 has a betterVGA Video ( 640 X 480 @ 15 or 30 fps) than the Z6 ( 320 x 240 @ 15 or 30 fps.)only. This is also one of the reason why I bought the Z5, because of its video. There's a lot of times that we want also to take video of let us say Family gatherings and we dont want to carry that bulky camcorder, well this is the solution to it. Oh by the way Z5 has 12X Optical zoom & 4X Digital zoom, If we compare the range with the 'old-fashioned' 35mm camera it has a range of 35 - 420mm. With this kind of zooming power who needs an interchageable lenses ! and with my added telephoto lens my Z5's zooming power is more than 12X ( 420 mm ) and with anti shake system this camera is awesome !
5-0 out of 5 stars Best camera I've ever owned, but not quite fulfilling expectations
Having owned only a Fujifilm Finepix A200 before this and being all of sixteen years old, I consider myself to be an amateur in the professional camera field; however, I have had this camera for almost four months now, and I have noticed some shortcomings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Camera To Own
I have been using this camera for the past 2 years and it still works fabulous and it has all the great features what one will be looking at. Although 3MP is lesser than all the other cameras available in the market, the picture quality is awesome. I have taken lots of photos when driving in the car, I gotta say, it never shakes. I love this camera. And most of all the things its dirt cheap when compared for other cameras with the same quality,

4-0 out of 5 stars Great camera if you learn how to use it.
I bought my camera from Amazon several weeks ago and took it on a trip to Turkey. The product has a lot of controversy: most love it, some hate it. Here is what I have to say:
5-0 out of 5 stars great first camera - get one while you can
I did lots and lots of research and this camera looked like the best deal for my daughter and me.It did not disappoint me.My 10-year-old had it up in running in no time with no previous camera experience. The software is great even with my win98se O/S. It gives you many choices for resolution and quality (compression)but even at 640x480 it takes nice pictures, giving you 150 pictures on the 16M card it comes with. The max 3.2 megs on this is plenty of resolution unless you want to do posters. What a deal. Made in Korea, and they can be picked up new for a song online with extended warranty.I recommend Samsonite for the bag. They have a nice one at a decent price. The ergonomic design of this camera makes it hard to find a good bag. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The first consumer-oriented 5-megapixel camera to hit the market, Minolta's DiMAGE 7 leapfrogged the competition by coming out at a time when other camera manufacturers were just introducing their 4-megapixel models. The DiMAGE 7 offers an ultrahigh resolution 5.24-megapixel CCD sensor that delivers excellent images for prints as large as 13 by 19 inches. A high-performance, all-glass, 7x zoom lens (equivalent to 28-200mm on a 35mm camera), with a 2x digital zoom, ensures maximum flexibility when composing your shots. Add to this a host of creative controls stacked into a unit with the size and feel of an SLR, and you have a digital camera with the type of functionality typically found only in professional models.Read more

  • 5.24-megapixel sensor creates 2,560 x 1,920 images for prints at sizes up to 13-by-19 inches

  • Included 16 MB CompactFlash memory card holds up to 12 images at default resolution
  • Connects with Macs and PCs via USB port

2-0 out of 5 stars Behind the times
While this camera boasts lots of features, and for the most part that is true, it is not easy to use. There is so many buttons to change to get the right photo, it is time comsuming and awkward.5-0 out of 5 stars Excellence for creative photography
The uniqueness of this camera, as compared to many of its analogs, is the availability and quality of the black-and-white mode for serious creative photographers. The results are comparable to the real film but with digital manipulation, the camera provides a more versatile and efficient application. The examples of black-and-white images taken by this camera can be seen at:http://pathology2.jhu.edu/shihlab/index.cfm. The only things need to be improved for this camera are: 1) the autofocusing function is too slow and sometimes not accurate especially in the dim light; 2) the range of aperture is relatively limited. Overall, this camera is probably the only digital one for photographers who are seeking taking black-and-white images.

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 years after purchase - and loving it more everyday
This is my second digital camera, and at first I hated it because it was not a point and shoot, which was the only camera I had ever known. It was just too complex for a meathead like me to use.If I'd have reviewed this camera a year ago I would have given it a 2 star rating.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Pictures!
I have this camera since a few years now. The only problem is that you need to use regular batteries for it. Besides that it's perfect. I've made super crisp pictures, been able to take some of my aquarium fish, with amazing results. The pictures look like in a magazine! Really great.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good quality with cheap price
I bought this camera from Costco and the camera did the good job. It made nice and high resolution pictures. I had no problem about the digital zoom indoor or anything about the problem when zoom to 200%. All pictures are clear with no freakles on skin. I suggest use microsoft digital image pro 9 to edit and zoom the pictures. It did the perfect job. If you had any problem about the created image, your software must have problem. Now I enjoy all the pictures that I took because I really look like a professional cameraman. Five stars on this product. Oh ! except one con: battery drain too fast. Buy rechargable battery.. remember !

2-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this camera
I have had this camera for over a year.I bought it because I read some reviews (from people who obveously hadn't used the camera for a long time) that said the shutter lag was great.I also liked its size.I knew the video was not going to have sound, so while inconvenient, it was not anything unexpected.I also loved the fact it took AA batteries.
2-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
I was hoping that when I pay a good amount of money for a product from a well known company which has a reputation in photgraphy, i'll get a camera that can take pictures. With the x31 that is hardly the case since the camera doesn't know how to focus. If you plan on taking pictures anywhere other than under glaring lights or the midday sun, buy another camera because the camera will just get confused and give you that little red dot telling you it can't focus.

Minolta's Dimage X raises the stakes in the world of itty-bitty digital cameras. By incorporating a clever internal zoom lens, developing a slim new rechargeable battery, and using diminutive SD memory cards, Minolta has created a pocket-sized picture taker that's just 0.8 inches thick and has an overall volume 10 percent smaller than Canon's S110 Digital Elph. 1-0 out of 5 stars Cheap plastic battery door - $181
Cute size encourages leisure use, but beware of the fragility of this camera. I dropped it and broke the cheap plastic battery cover and the tiny plastic battery hold-down tab. Minolta wanted $181 to replace. Seems like a rip-off since these are simple plastic parts and are easily accessible. Poor service.

5-0 out of 5 stars I lost it
I bought this when I was mobilized for OIF.I kept it in the pocket of my blouse the whole time, shooting pictures every where I went.Great shots, plenty of storage space.I never felt the need to use max resolution.Unfortuantely I lost it last week and am shopping for a replacement.I'm checking out the X31 and X50 which cost less than this one was.

4-0 out of 5 stars A small fun camera- - great features
I have had this camera for about three years, an it is a great machine. It is small, light weight, and it takes o.k. pictures. When I bought it, it only held 12 picture, (I don't know why)but I recently bought a new memory card, and it is great. You can make voice recordings, and take small video clips (35 seconds). The battery life is ok, but not what I would have wanted. Overall, this camera is a great digital camera. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars mixed feelings
This camera is great for taking pictures in great lighting. However, if you like to take pictures at night or in door, the quality is terrible. The zoom is virtually useless.Even in great outdoor lighting, taking a picture with close up zoom will make the pixel very big.I guess you get what you pay. It's a cheap nice looking startup camera. If you are going to honeymoon in Hawaii, this is a great camera. But if you are trying to take pictures of your 2 year old kid, better get a better camera. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid this piece of junk - buy a Canon or Nikon
The flash on this camera broke after < 2 months.Sent back to Konica-Minolta for warranty service was told that repair takes 2 months.3 1/2 mos go by and no word from manufacturer.I called, found out they are awaiting parts from Japan and would take another month.I called again after 6 weeks and was told that the parts are no longer being made as camera is discontinued. They will send me a "REFURBED" replacement as my only recourse.Since I had no choice, I took that. The refurb broke after 2 months as well - autofocus no longer focuses, and the metal ring around the tip of the lens fell off.No wonder Konica-Minolta is now out of the digital camera business.Buy a Canon or Nikon instead.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lousy Camera
I have had this camera about 6 months and have had to return it twice so far for the same repair, without any explanation or recourse of requesting a replacement. I use the camera for my work so two to three weeks per repair is pretty disruptive to my schedule. Quick shots are out of the question since the camera is ultra sensitive to any tremor, and I must always use a tripod.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent camera, a bit complicated to use for anything but take pictures
