my first digi cam
I got this 2 or 3 years ago, when I was in year 7. I begged and begged my parents for one and they agreed on getting me this - although I was hoping for something more funky looking. But after I had it, I just absolutly loved it! :) It's great!
A great camera for anyone new to digital photography
This was my first digital camera and I have to say that when I first got it I loved it. However it has it's share of problems. It is almost impossible for one to shoot anything without a flash using this camera--when you try it is usually blurred. The focus is also a bit dodgy--the background of many of my photographs are verysmudged looking. My recommendation is to invest a little bit more money and look into a camera with higher mp.

Battery problems workable
Reviews of this camera, as late as the Fall of 2004, seem to place the Coolpix 2100 above all its competitors (2 Mpxl, non-SLR).

Junk -- not up to Nikon remanufacturing or Amazon (customer service) standards -- get the 4600 new instead
While my past experience is that Nikon reconditioned/remanufactured products are impeccable and great values (I have a 2500 and love it), this camera is to be AVOIDED.I originally bought this for a friend, as I had alot of the necessary compactflash-related accessories that the camera uses.
Camera stopped working after 1 day:save your time and money
A Nikon 3 megapixel camera for $129?Too good to be true?You bet.The camera worked fine for a day, but then started to turning off intermittently. It refused to take photos and would not play back images.It also eats through batteries.I'm currently returning it via Amazon's excellent 30 day return policy.

Fantastic camera...at least for me
I bought this camera in 2001 for $500.That was alot of money but I have gotten my moneys worth and then some with this camera.I love everything about it.I just recently decided to purchase moremegapixels for my scrapbooking but thought long and hard about it before doing this.I read reviews and searched for cameras and finally decided to stay with the nikon.I bought a coolpix p4 from Best Buy and got the extended warranty but so far I LOVE this camera also.I am so sorry it got bad reviews.I have a fantastic camera here that I am going to sell and don't even know if I want to do that as I have loved it so much.For me Nikon has been great.

Nikon Coolpix 885 SYSTEM ERROR
I purchased a Coolpix 885 in April 2002. Within a few weeks I encountered a "SYSTEM ERROR" message. I got the camera replaced because it was under new camera warranty. I recently tried to use the custom settings to take pictures in poor light and encountered the "SYSTEM ERROR" message again. I believe there is a problem with using this mode. Based on other reviews and given the lack of positive action to address this issue I could not recommend this camera. I have given it 1 star because I have taken around 950 good pictures using the auto modes only.

System Error
The infamious "system error" appeared on my camera after 12 months. I learned after a searh on the web that this a common eroor in all Nikon digital cameras and the firm is doing nothing to fix it. DONT BUY ... Read more

OK - But Have to Recommend To Avoid
Nikon never fixed the red oversaturation issue in these cameras. Red sticks out like a sore thumb and makes the images unrealistic.
Love it but ready for next step
I really like this camera.It takes great pictures and is easy to use from still shots to soundless videos.

In the last two years, I have taken over 8000 photos with this camera, dropped it several times and it lives in a diaper bag or pocket most of the time and it still takes beautiful photos with no sophisiticated settings.Its 3MP output is more than adequate for family (nonprofessional) photos and prints them up to 8x10 with no quality degredation. ...
