1-0 out of 5 stars Worst camera ever
I bought this camera and with it being 4mp I thought this would be a good starter camera. When I opened the box I could not believe the poor quality of this camera, it looked like a cheap plastic childs camera that is worthabout $10. The flash worked only when it wanted too and the buttons would stick. It also paused for about 4 sec. between pictures. The pictures were blurry so needless to say I sent it back. Please stay away from this camera. Very poor camera.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a Good Buy
I had the same problem. The Camera never worked for me. It always did what I didn't want it to do, and it was horrendous on batteries. It gives Polaroid a bad name, and I am not happy I was misled by the stores.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful
I've had this camera for a few months. And it's terrible. The buttons frequently do not work, the shutter often gets "stuck" outside of the camera, and the battery latch keeps falling off. Will never buy from Polaroid again. ... Read more

The Polaroid i-zone digital and instant Combo Camera splices together the popular i-zone instant camera with a basic digital camera. You can take an i-zone postage-stamp size picture, and then turn the camera over and take the same picture with the digital camera at a resolution of 640 x 480. This device is essentially two separate cameras that share one set of batteries. The digital camera has 1 MB of built-in memory and can store up to 18 images. Both the i-zone and digital camera use fixed-focus lenses, so you never need to worry about taking out-of-focus pictures. A serial cable is included to download your images to your PC. Software is included to spruce up and modify your digital images. Included in the box are a serial image transfer cable, batteries, sticky film, and assorted software. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great!
awesome!takes good pictures with super-sticky film. the one problem I had with it was that it is not that portable. I use it at college all the time. It is overall a pretty good product!!! just don't drop it!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Camera is good and excellent for the money - but, don't drop
I loved the camera and I love it more now that I've purchased a Mustek which is going back.Just be careful - don't drop it!The batteries burn out very quickly and it would be great if it came with some kind of adapter.

5-0 out of 5 stars camera has been highly underrated
`for being a dual camera it does what it says it does the only catch is you MUST use duracell batteries or the unit will NOT work...alot of people do not know this and therefore think the camera is faulty...its not....it takes wonderful digital pictures...for being a one focus lense...... ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Funflash 640 is no fun at all
Less than 1 megapixel, you can't fit it in your pocket and no slot for a memory card. The pictures aren't that clear and has a very cheap feel to the outer casing of the camera. I'd recommend with the better technology these days to save up and invest in at least 3 megaxpixel and higher. You will not only get better technology, but the newer cameras are better looking and don't have the cheap feel to it, and more than likely it will fit into your pocket and feel better in your hands for sure. Please don't even think about buying the Polaroid Funflash 640. Stay away from it.

3-0 out of 5 stars My first camera but not the best.
this was my first camera. Since then I have had the Polaroid PDZ2300 and HP Photosmart 435 (Check my reviews). I thought it was a good camera for the amount of pixels. But I was limited to wat I could do. I would defiently recommend at least a 1.3MP though. I found the software confusing too. I could only get 15 pictures though so that was a down. I have come along way since this camera, but this camera was a good beginner.

2-0 out of 5 stars How to get around the "Not compatible with Windows NT" error
If you use the program compatability wizard on the setup program on the CD the software for the camera will install and run fine in XP. I rated the camera low because mine too has the same issues with the lcd (mylar ribbon inside the camera loses contact) and I do agree that all serial port connected cameras are slow to transfer images(after all serial ports were only designed for analog modems anyway). My camera also has a single bad pixel in the center of the CMOS imager that is always black. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good For Casual Fun
Alot of the reviews for this camera compare it's quality to those other newer cameras. Of course this camera is going to be a little less quality... it's 1.2MP!! duh.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not the greatest..
I bought this cause I needed something fast and didn't want to spend a lot of money. The unit ok ok.It eats batteries fast and picture quality is mediocre at best.I should have ponied up the cash for a better camera.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, even for the low price
For the price, I might have accepted the noisy images, the blurry focus, and the slow response time when taking a picture. But the camera showed poor quality from the beginning, with a dim screen, flaky behavior when pressing the selector wheel, a battery cover that failed to stay closed, and poor compatibility with standard CF memory cards. Finally, within a year of purchase, the screen died and the picture counter failed.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Rule of thumb to learning how to use anything well, "Read the directions"
Personally owning this camera for over 5 yrs, I would recommend it for everything, starting with beginner usage to small internet business work. Professional photographers will not brag about the photo quality because they generally spend alot more for that, but this camera offers up very clear resolution and color quality if you read the directions fully and familiarize yourself with the functions of its features. The software is an easyload cd, which the directions clearly identify how to load onto any computer. If you do not have a 95/98 Windows program installed on your computer, the Polaroid website offers easy backup support for adding it to XP and others. The Polaroid website also offers replacement software, serial cables etc.. Taking pictures, is a snap as long as your batteries are fully charged (especially during flash shots). The one con to the camera is the battery usage. A good recommendation, would be to also invest a small amount into the rechargeable camera batteries and use the ac adaptor chord when working with internet auction type photos. The Flashpath adaptor is an excellent plus feature, but there again familiarize yourself with the directions. Its batteries are much stronger and will last a very long time, however if the user begins to have difficulty uploading photos from the flashpath, the disc batteries should probably be replaced, and are easily found in the camera or watch dept of any store. With a little patience and the initiative to read the complete directions, the owner of this camera will get a lot of very happy smiling photos, for many years.

1-0 out of 5 stars slow and downright terrible
just let me name four things that make this camera the WORST in the world: 1.you would miss most of the great photographic opportunities because the flash has to recharge, and it takes FOREVER!!!! 2.how do you get, say, a natural history photograph at the zoo if it doesn't have a zoom lens!? don't be fooled by what ebay says about the lens, they are just trying to make money off you! 3.the SUPER fast shutter speed doesn't allow ANY dim light, whatsoever into the camera, if you even tried to take a picture in dim light the picture would just turn out BLACK! 4.the software is totally screwy (with some things) like the brightness system, you set it to a certain brightness, but you dont like it, so you keep tweaking the brightness and before long it is all white!1-0 out of 5 stars Made me want to rip my hair out
Ok, the camera takes great pictures. However, they're absolutely useless because the software that comes with the camera is terrible. Now I have a load of pictures that are just stuck in my camera. I cannot get them to come up on the PC no matter what I do, and I can't seem to figure out why.If you use anything other than windows 95, the Photomax software won't even work.Buying this camera was probably the biggest waste of money I've ever done. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good Camera old Technology
Had the camera for a few years, and bought a new computer with and XP Windows system.Polaroid said couldn't use the USB cable and would need to purchase a compact flash card of 32 mb size. After several phone calls to tech support and many hours, I still have no resolution to how I can use this camera with the new computer.Unable to read the flash card from the camera.Other pictures appear to work fine in the new computer, but even with a USB compact flash card reader, the computer will not reconize the file created by the PDC 700.Other wise the pictures, battery life all meet with my expectations and within the orginial price I was willing to pay.Not really interested in purchasing another camera, and would really like to figure this out.Any one with ideas would greatly appreciated.
5-0 out of 5 stars Polaroid PDC-700
This is a nice entry level point and shoot camera. I recommend this for someone who wants to start out in digital photography. I do recommend the 48MB CF card, and a professional battery pack. It will go through it's 4 AA's in about 30 minutes, high current draw. But it takes nice photos, and it's nearly indestructible too. In order to use the connection software(serial RS-232) you will need Windows 95+, and use EPP mode. And for the second generation PDC-700(USB enabled) you will need Windows 98+ to use it. Overall, a good entry level digital camera.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS!
Since the day I got this camera it never worked right. At first it was just the fact that the serial connection did not work.So for awhile it took great pictures and they printed very nice! Then it started draining the batteries. Then it just stopped working.Polaroid has done nothing to help me.Not since the day I bought it.Then I also went and bought another polaroid camera and it doesnt work either. And I inquired with polaroid again, and they still haven't helped me!DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!The are horrid and do not care about their customers. And their cameras dont work. There have been hundreds of these cameras (this particular model) on ebay that are non working and being sold for parts! As is mine! Polaroid's PDC 2300Z digital camera is a great entry-level 2-megapixel digital camera. To get closer to the action, the camera features a 2.3x optical (2x digital) zoom lens. The 2.3-megapixel CCD produces images at a resolution of 1792 x 1208, which is more than adequate for prints up to 8 x 10. The built-in flash features red-eye reduction, fill, auto, and off modes, providing a flash mode for virtually every situation. Images are stored on the included 8 MB CompactFlash card, although those interested in taking lots of high-resolution images at low compression ratios should consider investing in a higher capacity memory card. Images can be transferred to a computer via the included USB or serial cables. Polaroid says the PDC 2300Z is 'video-capable', meaning you can view photos on a television, or, for the more enterprising, record slideshows onto a blank videotape with a VCR. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good...Kinda
THis camera worked for about 2 months. After that time it started not working properly. I couldn't use the LCD and the Optical Zoom didn't work. But I left it sit for about 2 months and it worked...wat a phenominom. I thought the image quality was good for 2.3MP. I found the software confusing though. I hated also how it sucked up batterys and it used 4 batterys. Also it was pretty heavy. But overall it was a decent camera but had some flaws.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use - great quality Digital Camera
This camera is so easy to use.I have not cracked the user's guide. The quality of the photos is more than good. The software that comes with the camera makes transfering photos to your PC simple.5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value
This will be my second Digital Camera in over 4 years and I think it is a great value. The opportunity to switch from several different pixel levels is great for just about all ocassions. The resolution on the best setting is phenomenal.I haver used it at work and at home. The uploading from camera to PC is quick and easy.Erasing unwanted pictures is also easy to do.You can view the pictures on the LCD screen on the camera, on the PC, or on the Television set.I owned a Canon Previously and it was not as easy to use the resolution was not as good quality as the Polaroid PDC2300Z and I paid double the price for that camera. Also, one more thing to add.... The batteries seem to last a long time. You do not have to use the LCD screen to take pictures you can use the traditional camera view finder. That saves a tone of $$$$ on batteries. If I could rate this camera 10 stars I would! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very low quality pictures
If you're looking for a digital camera for beginners this camera might be nice for you but don't expect great quality pictures.Printing and enlarging the photos renders them extremely blurry.Even when printing small prints the quality isn't much better. If you are only interested in using the pictures from this camera on your computer then you might find this camera better suited for you.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good beginner camera
I've been using this digital camera for several years.I purchased it remanufactured from a closeout store.Even though I've had to exchange it a couple of times, it's been a good camera. It is very easy to use and doesn't suck down batteries like some cameras do.I use it to e-mail family and friend's pictures and for eBay listings. It has served its purpose well.

2-0 out of 5 stars Eats battery like crazy
This is was my first camera. Slightly overpriced (I paid +- 167 uS$). It's heavier than you think. Uses 4 AA batteries that drain rapidly, it's fast enough to take photos, but I dont like quality of them. Seems granulated.. it's no crystal-clear picture to me. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars check carefully
I have this camera and it is in the box. It is an ok camera but I had so much trouble finding a memory card that I gave up not to mention the flash burnt up 1 hour after I had it out of the box, also I could not figure out out how to work the inet button which is supposed to connect you to the internet. I contacted Polaroid because the user manual said nothing about it. Polaroid said that they had discontinued this camera and all of the models they had were reformatted to be used the same as the pdc 640 cameera and the inet button had been disabled and was of no use exceot as a review button for pictures. So check carefully with Polaroid before buying. I now own a PDC 64o ptotmax and it is great for point and shoot and has more features that this camera including a tv out so you can view pictures from your camers on you tv, the picture quality is better and the price is much cheaper. CHECK CAREFULL AND SEE IF THEY HAVE RECONTINUED THE MODEM IN THESE CAMERAS BEFORE BUYING IT SO YOU DON'T PAY FOR SOMETHING YOU DON GET. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good & Affordable
If youre looking for an affordable simple camera, may be for kids, this is it. It has easy commands, the flash works fine and does not drain the batteries. you can take fast good photos. For the price you can not go wrong. They could improve the software a little. The cable is cheap and it takes AAA batteries.

2-0 out of 5 stars Incompatible with WinXP
The camera is lightweight and comes with the USB/serial port attachments, but unfortunately it's not compatible with WinXP.Going to the Polaroid website is no help. After emailing and searching the site, I found the appropriate drivers for XP.2-0 out of 5 stars you seriously get what you pay for
This camera is nothing special. It's cheap, which is good (especially for people like me). But the picture quality really isn't that good, and I'm saying this wholeheartedly.Read more
