3-0 out of 5 stars I returned this camera. :(
I have always been a fan of Sony Cybershot cameras and I didn't think twice about buying this camera. I thought it would be perfect! I love the look & feel of Cybershots, I've always been happy with the photo quality, and I love the Lithium Batteries.
5-0 out of 5 stars Macro Users/Ebay Sellers Will Love This Camera
I purchased the W50 mostly to take macro photos of antique beads for listing on Ebay. This type of photography requires a camera that can capture fine detail and excellent color saturation. The W50 has met my demands and then some.As I take my photos hand held the demands were especially crucial.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
I had a Nikon L1, but i decided to change it due to poor indoor quiality pics in low light situations and also because the long time it takes to focuse i nlow light.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!
This is a phenomenal camera!I fell in love with the huge 3-inch viewfinder, and the 12x zoom is just great. This camera's pictures can be be cropped and end enlarged. The pictures are incredibly clear. In addition, the camera is compact, considering its features. The price is not too high, either.I highly recommend this camera. The only downsides are the large file sizes (you need to buy large capacity media), and that it uses proprietary Sony Memory Stick memory.

3-0 out of 5 stars PURPLE FRINGE
Nice camera but WAY too much purple fringe.Camera feels and looks kind of cheap compared to Canon or Panasonic.None of the super-zooms are perfect. The Sony, Canon and Panasonic super-zooms are all nice cameras, pick the one the feels right in your hands & you'll no doubt be happy with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pleased with quality vs. price.
I've had the Sony DSC-H5 for about three months and all-in-all am very satisfied. This is my first digital camera, being an old SLR holdout. As noted in some of the other reviews, there are some minor issues - the location of the zoom button being my biggest complaint. It's too easy to hit that by mistake when composing a shot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera
I've owned this camera for just a few weeks, and still have much to learn about the many features, but so far I am very pleased with the operation and picture quality of the DSC-H2. This is only the 2nd digital camera I have used. The previous being a Finepix 3.1 MP camera. I'm still trying to get used to all the manual settings, but the automatic settings have been very impressive. I think the accessories included with the camera make it a very good buy. I purchased a Sandisk 1GB Memory Stick Duo Pro to store the photos. It has worked well in the short time I have used it. The minor criticisms I have for this camera are, as with most didital cameras, the compact size of the camera body make handling the camera difficult with my larger hands & fingers. I have hit buttons accidentally once or twice. Something added to the camera body for the left hand would be nice. The viewfinder option to compose a photo is a little dark & I find it is difficult to see peoples' facial expressions until viewing the picture. My eyesight is partly to blame for this, I suppose. The owners manual, at times, can be downright trying. I wish filters could be attached to the lens front rather than the adaptor/hood, but I can see why it isn't with this design. Still, it all comes down to the features the camera does have, the picture quality and the price, and that's why I give it 5 stars. I still have alot to learn about this camera, but so far, everything I've tried has worked well. Even when I guessed at the settings before consulting with the manual. I look forward to experimenting more. A person who just wants to point and shoot shouldn't be deterred by all the features. Just set the date/time and make sure it has fresh batteries and shoot away. Also, I purchased the 4 yr service plan with this camera. I hope I never have the occasion to offer a review on that, but with previous experience with a camcorder, I felt like it was worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Takes higher quality pictures than my DSLR.
This is my 3rd digital camera . This past May I purchased an Olympus EVOLT 500 DSLR for $799. I was not impressed with the quality of the pictures. So I bought the Sony H2 . I can't believe the image quality . Perfect outdoor pictures underany conditions . The image stablization works very well. I am able to take pictures with full zoom (which is the equivilent of 430mm on a 35 mm camera ) without using a tripod . Even in the evening the pictures do not blur .The shutter speeds are fast enough for sports photography . The 2.8 f/stop allows for fast shutter speeds . The lenses that came with my DSLR did not have that wide of a lens opening . I would have had to buy a much more expensive lens to get 2.8 f/stop.
5-0 out of 5 stars VERY NICE ZOOM !
At 1st was very dificult, but now i love it, its fun !

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Camera.
I bought this camera several weeks ago and have test-driven it in the forest preserves of Chicago and in Upper Michigan. It does a terrific job.I am an artist who studied film in school and yet never used a digital camera.I wanted something that was kind of between a point and shoot and an SLR.I wanted some manual functions to fool around with, and yet I also wanted the easy shot for family photos and such.I didn't want to start my digital experience on an expensive SLR, so this proved to be a great buy for me.It's very small and compact and yet very powerful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best all around digital camera
If you are looking for a digital camera with many high level functions and features, the SonyCybershot 8.1 mp is a great buy.It is highly affordable and takes photos with excellent precision, day or night. The camera is very user friendly and the ease of use is a plus. The memory stick is sold separately and is a must purchase accessory if you plan to take many photos.I am happy with the clarity of the photos and the video functionality that you may want to have handy. The camera is an excellent buy!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Good Picture....but Poor stability
You got to have extremely steady hand, or camera stand to use this camaera.

5-0 out of 5 stars you pay for what you get
This camera is great! There's no question about it.It takes great pics indoors and out, has greeaat battery life, and small enough to insert into a shirt pocket. I upgraded from an olympus which is 3 years old, and did not regret one bit. There's nothing wrong with the olympus, just wanted a newer camera with better shutter lag. Also love the pics playback on its 3" lcd screen with different music moods -- at first i thought what a cheesy feature but grown to like it almost immediately. I got mine at a major retailer at premium price and it looks like the price has dropped quite a bit now... my advice to anyone who's reading this: Stop doing your research and get this camera!

5-0 out of 5 stars RAW noise reduction
great camera, the image stablilzer isnt so much better then other models from other companies. BUT, the RAW(an algorithum applied at the code itself, as opposed to after interpolation of the image)image noise reducer really works well. I can't say enough about that feature. I mean at iso 1k, there's still a "little bit" of noise, but it's not nearly as bad(most people wont notice it, certainly not the common user) as some of the older cameras that just fully blurred out. DO get the lcd protector/cover(they sell them here at amazon, i dont know what brand), otherwise the lcd will get scratched from just being in pocket with keys.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Value, Amazing, what more to say!!
3in LCD, White Balance, 7+mp res., Zeiss lense, compact enough for any pocket or pocket book, and good battery life, you know just to name some of the high lights this little package has. A great value, a lot of bang for the bucks. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Sony Sucks - Lost the Love!
The camera takes good pictures as long as you have a steady hand. Some pictures come out dark and some shadows on pictures. Some pictures come out blurry - no stabalizer. This camera's randomly broke after about 1 year and I did not drop the camera (just like another reviewer).I bought a Sony PDA and the same thing happened to that lcd - randomly broke - has a crack across the LCD. Of course, Sony said it was my fault and that I must have done something to it and refused to honor the warranty on that PDA - after 1 month? Since the camera was out of warranty, I knew there was nothing they were going to do. So if you want a DECENT camera with lousy customer service to support it - go for it! But if you want a great camera and a great company to support their products, look elsewhere. I used to be a great financial supporter of Sony products - monitors, computers, camcorder, memory sticks, etc. I am not buying anymore Sony products - I have lost the love for Sony and their products! Beware!
1-0 out of 5 stars Fragile screen, breaks easily and not covered by warranty
I had my Sony DSC W70 for just one month when the viewing screen suddenly cracked without being dropped or hit. The glass itself was intact, but something underneath was clearly broken. Mailed it in to the factory service company for Sony, and I was informed 3 weeks later that it is not covered by warranty and will cost $181 to repair. This is 2/3 the cost of a new camera and does not make sense financially.
1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Customer Service and Not Worth It
Don't buy this camera really.I had it for a month and was taking good care of it.I was initially thrilled. The LCD screen got damaged -- no I didn't drop it.The treatment from customer service was so poor and disturbing that I was shocked. The customer service representative actually questioned my integrity and proceed to talk to me as if I were an idiot.A $181 repair bill for a $300 camera is not feasible. It was a great camera at first, but I demand better treatment and respect from the company.Look for a better camera, look on the web for comments on their customer service and don't buy this camera.I had read very negative things about Sony but didn't think they applied -- they really are true.I don't like being called a liar by anyone especially when I am the customer. The camera is a month old and it is now garbage. While I understand policies are policies in terms of a warranty, I will not accept such poor treatment and customer service.I teach photography and will tell my students the same thing -- if customer service and respect matter to you, then do not buy this camera. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Second camera
I love sony cameras, compared to many others like casio, hp,lg, this has the best ease of use, and best picture quality for your dollar. Previously i have owned the sony T7, T11, and an HP something, but i'm telling you if you want the best for your budget this is the way to go.
5-0 out of 5 stars No complaints
I had purchased the Nikon L3 becuase I loved my 2200, but I was extremely disappointed. The pictures looked like crap. The Sony Cybershot W30 is great.Sharp pictures, lots of options, easy to use, nice size.I'm actually glad that things didn't work out with the L3 and I ended up with this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Overall, it's an average to good camera
First of all, I have to say that I'm pretty much a novice with digital cameras, although I've owned 4 different ones. I really liked this camera at first, but then I took it on a trip with me and really put it to use, and found out it was not so great afterall.

I like this camera as it looks good and pictures are not that bad except for red eyes and night pictures. 4-0 out of 5 stars works with old Minolta 5000i lens
I bought it since I had the old Minolta 5000i body and lens. And the lens do work on the Sony Body. Even my Sunpak Flash work on the body also. I am now in digital SLR world and with a 70-210mm zoom and 10 meg pixel, croping pictures that are far away are amazing at what you get compared to my small 2x opitcal zoom point and shoot digital camara.

3-0 out of 5 stars I wanted so much to like this camera...
A Carl Zeiss 24-120 zoom--the stuff of dreams. My dreams, anyway. So I went for it.I have to say, this camera is a horse--it is enormous--but the weight was not troublesome in the least (in fact it aids stability). 5-0 out of 5 stars Sony Digital Camera DSCR1 10.3MP
Excelent Photo Qualities, great detail on large prints.High quality lense, from wideangle to telephoto shots as simple as point and shoot. Manually ajust F-Stop and Shutter Speed for Field of Depth or Stop Action Shots.Everything from Metering to a grid viewfinder to make profesional photography simple.A major name brand body alone would cost three times as much for the 10.3MP format.A great camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Zen answer
I have previously been unsatisfied with digital cameras primarily due to the shutter lag phenomenon. I really like capturing the "moment" and in my years as a film photographer (mostly portraits and theater) was happy to say I wasted very little film.

2-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE RED EYE PROBLEM
I love SONY cybershot cameras...and though I really like a lot of features of this camera I have to say that the red eye problem is terrible.
5-0 out of 5 stars Just got it and I love it
I was SO pleased and surprised by the shutter speed. I got it on clearance at the place with the big red circles(hint) $99 Can't wait to try out all the bells and whistles. Took completely unfuzzy pictures in a car maoving at 70 MPH Yippee

1-0 out of 5 stars 1/2 star only-defective out of box
I really had high hopes for this camera as it really seems like a lot of bang for the buck. But it would not power up at all after unpacking. I was finally able to get it powered up after much fiddling. The manual even said to take out batteries for 1 minute to solve problem. This annoying "fix" worked maybe 50 percent of the time. This power up problem is real streaky as well. It would get my hopes up by starting fine about 6 times. Then it would fail to start up again on 6 more tries. Now the lens are stuck open and it will not power up. It's going back it the box today and back to the very helpful dealer. I doubt seriously I will get this model again in exchange and will probably not even touch a Sony brand camera again after this experience, given Sony's notororius difficult warranty support. Quite a shame. This could be a great camera. Judging by by the number of similar complaints I see here, looks to me like a they have quality control problem. Which means no more Sony cameras for me. I would have only given this a 1/2 star if it was an option. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Setting the record straight.
There was a reviewer who stated that this camera made an "annoying jingle" everytime you turned it on and was told by Sony's technical support that it was unable to be turned off. Don't let that sway your opinion on this buying this amazing camera because after playing around with it for about 5 minutes, I figured out how to turn it off.

5-0 out of 5 stars sounds can be turned off!
I almost wouldn't have bought this wonderful cam (Sony Cybershot DSC-T9) because I read one of the reviews on this board: Somebody asserts that the sounds couldn't be turned off - that's wrong. It is very easy.

4-0 out of 5 stars DSC T9
I've owned the T9 now for just about 3 weeks.I purchased it after some extensive research.Of course you never really know a product until you've had it awhile. Here's my thumb nail opinion.

1-0 out of 5 stars White Screen of Death Problem - Reset solution
There is a workable solution to the white screen of death problem, as offered by A. Jacobe as a comment to Rachel Ellen's Sept 4, 2006 post. This is a good camera when it's working but unfortunately, while within it's Sony warranty period, my S40 suffered 3 episodes of the white-screen-of-death (apparently, based on other reviews, this is not an uncommon problem and is seemingly, a design/software flaw that Sony is not acknowledging). This problem relates to the LCD screen turning white and the camera becoming inoperable. Changing the batteries does not fix this problem. I sent the camera for warranty repair twice. First time back (diagnosed as "Main Power Flex" problem), the repaired S40 lasted less than a month. After the second repair (diagnosed as "battery door problem"), the white-screen death appeared again within one week! By then, I knew that I either had a lemon or that the authorized Enfield, CT, repair facility wasn't good at what they do. I also did not want to spend any more time and money sending it in for a futile 3rd repair. Wish I had read Jacobe's resetting tip earlier - would have saved me all the needless aggravation. Jacobe's solution is to reset by pressing all 3 buttons on the back of the camera(MENU; Display/LCD on/off; Image size/Delete) simultaneously while turning on the camera. This is a workable but short-term solution as the camera, with its integral flaw, will continue to "excite" with the unpredictable white screens of death. Imagine having the paparazzi shot-of-the-century just a click away and your S40 coughs up a white screen and refuses to work. Time for me to get a new digital camera.

1-0 out of 5 stars Camera DIES after a year!!!!
I get a white screen now and cannot take pictures. I have to bang on it a few times and it'll come and go. I've only had this camera a little over a year and it's already dying on me. Ridiculous. I see many others have the same problem.
5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT DEAL
A few years ago this was an awesome camera, and the only reason it should be considered mediocre by the average user is because of the availability of higher megapixels and better (slimmer) design in newer cameras. But, as a camera in general, this one is great for snapshots and everyday use.I wouldnot be searching for a new one had a friend of mine not dropped this one in the toilet! It even survived many intoxicated nights out...I highly recommend it! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars OSOM
I have been using it for almost a year, I got it for my mother, she loves it.
2-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed
I used to have a sony 3.2 megapixel camera, which broke when it was dropped, so replaced it with the P200.I had taken a lot of photos I was happy with with the previous camera, so was expecting to be as happy with this one as I was with the old one, if not happier, given the improved resolution. However, while I'm no professional photographer, I seem to end up with many more out of focus or blurred pictures with this camera than I did with the other one - probably > 80% are ruined, but it's hard to tell that on the screen on the back, so you lose a lot of treasured moments. In addition, I often find that the flash illuminates the scene before the picture is taken, and so the pictures are often underexposed. This happens a lot, and is almost impossible to compensate for, which is very frustrating.I cannot recommend this camera, and will try a different brand next time.

2-0 out of 5 stars 50% Handy, 50% Junk
I bought this camera to take photos of my paintings to print off. I had read reviews about the camera being blurry at times, but I never thought it'd be a problem since I don't have very shaky hands. Yet even standing still, I had problems with getting crisp pictures with accurate colors. I skimmed through several of the different settings, but the camera still produced inconsistent results. Some of the photos looked great while others I immediately deleted. In the end, I went back to my old reliable digital camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fine camera for it's size.
I have had lots of complements on the pictures I have taken with this camera.I even got fine night shots of the Mackinaw Bridge all lit up and without a tripod. For those who can't take a good picture with it I suggest they read the manual and practice before counting on it.I do think the color reproduction is a little better at 3 mega pix than 5 but not enough to say so.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, Horrible Pictures
About one in five pictures comes out perfectly. The others suck. I had a Nikon Coolpix before and really thought I was trading up with this one, but it is really bad.
1-0 out of 5 stars it is horrible
I bought this camera nearly year ago, worst camera I ever bought, it blurs out images if some one is moving especially if the mode is auto. You expect it works better if you taking pictures casually in auto mode, but it is not. It is dissapointing that sony made real bad one like this.Do not bugy camera if you planning to take picture during night time, the pictures end up with white shadow patches(big circular spots). The flash is useless for > 4-5 feet. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars pleased
I've had this camera for two years.Compared to other cameras I've used, this digital camera is VERY fast. With only five megapixels, I've managed to take some really fine pictures with amazing detail. The macro mode is excellent. This camera is also very durable - I've dropped it at least twice on hard floor but nothing broke.
4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect performance
I am totally satisfied with Product features. For me still it'sbetter than any available product from other company in this segment.
2-0 out of 5 stars It was good in its short life
The camera was an excellent one, it took very high-quality pictures; however, it broke a little more than a year after I bought it, it wouldn't power on for an unknown reason, and it was exactly 14 days out of the one-year warranty! The repair cost is rather expensive: $184. I would rather buy a new one than to send it for repair. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Sony's DSCT7 5.1-megapixel camera brings super-compact size to a new level. The camera is 3/8 inches thin at its narrowest point and 5/8 inches thin at its widest. Despite its small size, the camera still includes the quality features you've come to expect from Sony digital cameras, including a large, 2.5-inch LCD display, a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with 3x optical zoom, and enough megapixels to help you capture detail for photo-quality prints up to 13 x 17 inches.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy
I bought this camera a few days ago for the purpose of going travelling with.
1-0 out of 5 stars Camera has scraches all over
Even do this camera was refurbished I was expecting not to get a camera that has scraches all over. Looks like a 5 years old was the one using that camera. Unfurtunatly, this store return's policy sucks and I cannot return this camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and very easy to carry with you
I have been using mine for a little over a year. I bought it practically the day they came out. I very much wanted a small camera to have with me when something came up where I needed a picture. This camera is perfect for that purpose. Very easy to take on the ski slopes, or anywhere. It easily fits in almost any pocket. It takes good quality pictures. One of the best features is how extremely fast its resets and is ready for the next picture. Much faster than most digital cameras. Large viewing screen is nice. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great camera
I have had this camera for a year and I love it.I have taken some pretty high quality shots with it and love it's ease of use.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Mid-range Camera
I upgraded to the DSCH1 six months ago after being the proud owner of a little Cyber-Shot DSC-W1, which was my first introduction to the world of digital photography.I could not be happier with either my "big" Cyber-Shot or my "little" Cyber-Shot.I therefore strongly and enthusiasticly recommended anything in Sony's digital camera line.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Small Investment
This is a great investment. I take my Cybershot with me everywhere. It consistently delivers high-quality results. I am VERY happy with this purchase (now I need to learn how to use all the interesting functions).
