5-0 out of 5 stars A Sleeper Among Digicams!
I must agree with the first reviewer, Steve Smart. This is really a sleeper of a cam about which few know or to which fewer still pay any serious attention. No, it's not a branded big name, but Samsung is gradually making their name heard in the digicam world with their most recent offerings, stylistic, and very functional designs.
5-0 out of 5 stars Solid ultra-compact camera, best-in-class for it's price
I took a chance on this little camera after reading reviews on CNET and at Steve's Digicams. It is every bit as good as the Canon Digital Elph I had previously (the Canon died of the E18 error), but almost 100 dollars cheaper.

4-0 out of 5 stars For the price it's a really nice camera
I was looking for a reasonably priced digital camera, and came across the Samsung Digimax A503. The price was right, in fact better than what I thought for a 5 megapixel camera, and all the previous reviews pointed to a really good product.
5-0 out of 5 stars A 13 Year Old's Review
I love this camera! I'd been saving up for a digital camera for awhile and finally found one at a good price. There are 3 colors to choose from, red, black, and silver. (I got black because Walmart didn't carry silver for some reason.) The 5 MP makes for great quality photos. For once I have something better than my electronic-crazy dad! There are cool colors and frames that I use a lot, and even a feature that makes it possible to put up to four pics in one photo. I have this camera everywhere I go and can't wait to take it to Florida this week! For a great quality camera at a great price this is a user-friendly camera for all ages!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice little camera for teens
I bought this camera for my twin girls. They love it pictures are crisp. We take them in 5mp resolution and S fine. mode with a 1gb Sandisk Sd card. I was a little leary of this purchase. after reading mixed reviews from several different websites. However, I am pleasantly surprised at the details. It also has nice clip art to add to the photos. It has a mode composite. you cant take up to 4 different poses and print it out on one piece of photo paper. Perfect for the photgenic teenager. Just purchased today need to explore the movie mode sound? I am so far satisfied. You will not be disappointed in this low end camera. If you really need it for the video function. You may be a little unhappy as the movie mode record in vga mode. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My Best Camera Ever
I have had a couple of cameras (sony dsc models) in the past and have been looking for one that will just suite my taste in the long run. Looking for size, picture quality, media functionality, Wow! this camera does it all. For its size, I would say, anyone should go out and get this camera. The only drawback I would say is the 2GB max. SD card input and the fact that the battery dies quickly when using the PMP mode very often.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Pictures, Great Quality, Easy to use, Great features, All around Awesome Camera
I've only had the Samsung Digimax i6 6MP Digital Camera, for a couple days now, but I can't stop raving about how truly fantastic it is.

5-0 out of 5 stars very satisfied
I spent maybe too much time looking at cameras before choosing this one...and I'm happy with this camera. To me, it's just right size (little larger than business card and 1-inch to 1.5-inch thick) and a good list of features.

4-0 out of 5 stars Solid.
After using this camera for a little while, I can say that the picture quality was better than I expected after reading some other reviews. It struggles just a little bit if there's a lot of contrast in the image in that the picture is just a wee bit dark. The menu system is fairly intuitive and the LCD is huge. On the downside, the LCD is huge and therefore more susceptible to damage in addition to draining the two AA's faster. It is certainly a rare breed of `wider-angle' 28mm point-and-shoot digital cameras that also takes AA batteries. It doesn't automatically power up into transfer mode when you plug in the USB cable like my Canon S60 did. The Samsung also makes you pick if you're connecting to a PC or printer after you turn it on and it detects the USB cable. The test I ran trying the Macro mode looked okay, except they were blurry without the flash, and too bright with it. It does feel like it takes a little bit longer than other cameras to focus and ready itself on targets. There is no standard viewfinder, so there's no way to shut off the display to conserve energy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wide angle zoom a big selling point
This is a decent small camera whose wide angle ability is its major selling point. The body is compact and sturdy, the controls simple, and all it has a very handy easy to use design. The drawbacks are a somewhat harsh flash and the fact that it takes AA batteries, which means it goes through them at quite a clip. Get rechargeables if you get this camera: the wide angle is irrisistable for scenery, so you'll wind up using it a lot.

4-0 out of 5 stars Samsung--in for the long haul
I have NO brand loyalty, so I never know what I may end up with.In my review of the Kodak P880 I made it clear what I don't want--a same-old same-old 38-114

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little snapshot camera for the money
Don't know what the low raters were doing with their cameras or perhaps they just got bad ones.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing, if you know how to use it!!!
I got this camera a couple of weeks ago. I'm a teen, and my mom made me spend my own money for the camera and the rechargeable batteries. So I needed something affordable, but well worth my money!!!! After spending days and days of researching, with absolutely NO help from any siblings or parents, I decided to get this camera. I urge you to see the pictures other members of Amazon have uploaded, to see the great clarity you get with these pictures.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a cheap camera
This is my first digital camera. All in all I would have to say it doesn't take that bad of pictures for a point and click. It has a few effects that are fun to play with but I haven't had the opportunity to play with them all. The camera does have two down sides that I've noticed so far... it eats up batteries quickly and the closeup feature does not work well enough. For photos on the go it's fine.. stock up on batteries. For me it serves my purpose for the time being, but don't even try to get artsy. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's worth the investment.
I took this camera with me to Honolulu, Hawaii during my very recent vacation trip there.Since it was my first trip to the island, I wanted to make sure that I took good pictures not only as a memorable token but also to show off to friends.I was amazed on just how crisp and clear the pictures turned out.The colors were so rich and vivid. The video was unbelievable that it captured every moment liked I remember seeing the events live.
3-0 out of 5 stars Depends on your requirements
I bought this camera, tested it out over the weekend.I was coming from a Canon Powershot SD200.I found the camera larger then I would like and was not happy with that. For a point and shoot camera, in my opinion, having it compact is a great advantage. This camera felt bulky and you wouldn't want to toss it in a pocket to travel with.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful camera under USA censorship
I did not see any info for i5 camera and would never know about its existence - do USA magazines censor this camera?I needed a camera to take quick shots of small objects at work. After extensive search, I found i5 sold only in 2 places. Strange? This is free market? Anyway, as i5 is mentioned and praised in US "news" like much worse cameras are mentioned and praised, I feared i5 might be something bad, not worth attention, "lemon" product. Well, I purchased i5 as badly needed for work. Once I started doing pictures, I realized it is perfect camera for me and my co-workers and friends. I regularly share i5 with people around me. i5 takes very good pictures and has amazing macro capability - you can take pictures from as close as 1cm. I took a picturte of menu in restaurant and was shocked to see such fine detail like dots on menu that make specific colors. YES, I can see each dot individually, its shape and color - on printed menu in restaurant! i5 takes pictures without showing big barrel lens that tells everybody you are making zoom in. This camera is ALWAYS very thin. I use pro camera otherwise, that is very heavy and big - and takes near perfect pictures. Still, I love i5 and am very happy with it and take it almost everywhere I go.Peter

1-0 out of 5 stars I'm on camera #3 now because of shutter problems....
I bought this camera in January 2006.Used it for about 2 weeks and the shutter started sticking, opening occasionally, then not at all. Exchanged it hoping it was just that camera. Now I'm taking the second camera back 4 months later, it started in with shutter problems, not opening again.I thought maybe it was related to battery life...so today I went on an event, the camera was on the charger all night, battery shows full, took one photo and when I turn the camera off, it doesn't close or sticks half closed. Now I'm back to the store where I purchased it, don't know if I can get another brand camera or if I'll be on #3.I love the camera other than that aspect of it.Don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone else, I am VERY disappointed with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad quality
I had it repaired within 1st month bought it.The image was distorted, and there are many dark horizontal lines through. The service center was prompted though, they told me something wrong with the lens barrel, and had it fixed on the same day.But then 1 month after the repair, similar problem came back. There are many dark horizontal lines, and image is over-exposed.I'm gonna send in for another repair soon.Although the features are good, I don't think the quality is good, especially there are a lot of image noise when taking pictures in the dark. Also, it's quite noisy when you zoom in and out.The image is quite blur at night. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars TERRIBLE!
This camera is terrible. The flash is slow, the battery dies very quickly. And the picture quality when printing them out is horrible. They are always blotchy. When I called about this problem they said that you have to change the camera to 3 MP mode in order to get decent pictures. But that still didnt work.I would not reccommend this camera.

Editorial Review

Nicely compact and full of style, the Samsung Digimax V700 is one of the most affordable 7-megapixel point-and-shoot digital cameras available. It's ready to take pictures very quickly thanks to its instant start-up, which allows you to shoot pictures as soon as the camera is turned on, and the high-speed shot-to-shot feature allows continuous high-speed shooting. 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased
After shopping around for a very long time for a camera with high megapixels, I got this one. The pictures are EXTREMELY clear and are almost never blurry at all. The camera has a very good auto-focus feature that makes the automatic mode very easy to use to capture great pictures. The camera is also semi-pro, meaning that you can adjust aperature settings and use a manual mode. Most of the automatic features can be adjusted to match any situation like flash, shutter speed, etc. The scene modes are also very good and help to take pictures in difficult situations (though the firworks setting is pretty pointless).
4-0 out of 5 stars Casi perfecta !
Estoy muy contento con la cmara, el nico defecto que le he encontrado es que el volumen al grabar video MPEG4 es exageradamente bajo....parecen pelculas mudas y ruidosas.Por lo dems es muy buena.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought
I need a camera with >5MP and short movie feature.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for money, dont let it fall down though!
Updated 2/5/06: My camera fell down and the zoom got stuck and the pictures are having horizontal lines. I think the reliabilty is very poor. Had no complaints until it fell down. I am thinking of buying a canon S80 now.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good camera, especially for the price
I recently got the DigiMax A7, and I knew it was a lower priced 7 megapixel camera, so I expected it to be good but not great. Overall, I would say it is somewhere between good and great.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best 7 mega pixel out there!
A friend of mine picked up one of these cameras at Sams Club for $199.He loved it.I tried it and found it was great!Records short video!Zooms so close that you can see every line in the iris of someone's eye, even though they are photographed from across the room!AND you can crop photos right in the camera, e-mail them from the camera (if you plug it into a computer) and even get bigger memory cards.Mine came with a 128 mb card, and it holds about 60 photos when set to highest quality. Also came with a carrying case, a USB cord, and a battery charger. I've loved it since the first time I tried it, and couldn't pass up the deal of just $199 with a 1 year warranty!Best camera I've ever had.May even get better if I read the manual!

5-0 out of 5 stars say cheese!
Absolutely great quality of image. Only downside is it's size. Load of features! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice Camera
I had used Nikkon D70 before I bought this one. The advantage of this camera is I dont have to change the lens again and again. It includes both wide angle and telephoto lens.In addition to the still image, this camera also has video feature. So I can capture the video too.I bought this camera before my niagara vacation. So, I took lots of wonderful picture in niagara and I also did video. So, this works for me much better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, Useful Camera
I purchased this camera 2 weeks ago.
5-0 out of 5 stars I love this camera!
I've read over all the reviews and I don't agree with them. For starters, I don't think that this camera is that difficult to use. This is my first digital camera ever, and I'm not having problems using it. The pictures are crisp and clear; I'm very impressed with the quality of the pictures and the camera. If I had one complaint it would be that the straps on the handle keep coming undone and I really feel that the quality on that could be better; I've had 2 instances in which my new camera almost crashed to the ground so my advice is not to carry the thing around by the handle! ... 1-0 out of 5 stars White Screen
Not too long after I purchased this camera the screen turned white when I turned it on. I would turn it off and on and nothing would help. Finally I would take the batteries out and put them back in. This seemed to fix the problem a few times. After that I thought it was just operator error. But it wasn't. The camera finally gave out and the white screen never went away. So after being annoyed I left the camera alone for awhile. An event came up about a month later. I got my camera and tried to turn it on. Nothing happened. So I changed the batteries. Still nothing happened. I'm not sure what happened. I do believe I purchased a LEMON camera. I'm hoping to resolve these issues with Samsung. It was one of the cheapest cameras on the market at the time. So I guess you get what you pay for!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk....Cant trust it!!!
So this was my first digital camera, got it last july for my birthday. I go to a lot of concerts, so i needed a camera that could take pictures in not good light and take pics of moving subjects. Well, two days after i got it, i was at a festivale watching my fav band perform and the the screen went white. It would still take pics, only you couldnt see them. After changing the batteries and turnign it off and on, it went back to normal. Alarmed, i called Samsung and they told me the couldnt do anythign until it was white again. It only did it a couple of times after that so i never called again.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for Samsung
I was extremely impressed with this camera; I felt the only not exceptional feature was its nonwithstanding aptitude for steady shots. Other than that, I felt it was fantastic, and exceeded all expectations. ... Read more
