Nice Gift....Service Needs Improving..... Expen$ive Upkeep
My sisters and brothers bought this for our 83-year old father.It's a great concept:Share photos from anyone in the family, from anywhere in the world, and without the need for a computer connection.He really loves it, and the fact that each morning there are new pictures, electronic greeting cards from all of us, local weather, and other "channels" like "This Day In History" from The History Channel and CNN News.The setup is very easy, and picture quality good enough.He has something to look forward to each day and that in itself is priceless. But be warned of a few drawbacks:

Worst digital frame available and a TERRIBLE gift idea.
First of all you can't simply put in a memory card or stick. You have to connect this thing to a phone line. Yeah that'll look nice on mom's wall.
Expensive and limited
This might seem like it would be a great item; however, you cannot put any memory cards into it. You are FORCED to pay for the service plan in order to have it only display a maximum of 30 photos a day. Music isn't supported, let along videos. REALLY bad gift choice. ... Read more

Ceiva can be shared with your desktop!
Grandma has a Ceiva frame, but I have a laptop and you can download a program to send ceiva pictures to your laptop or computer as wallpaper.You can also send pictures from your computer to the ceiva frame.You can get the software at www.pictureshare.netIt makes ceiva so much cooler for us.Very easy to use, beautiful wallpaper changer.The only one that talks to Ceiva frames.

How to Thrill a Mom
We got one of these for my Mother-in-law for Christmas, because she 1)lives in another state in a retirment community and 2)gets flustered just trying to use the TV remote, so email and web sites are out of the question for sending new pictures to her.Of course there's still good old snail-mail, but we thought she'd get a kick out of the instantaneous gratification of getting pictures the day we take them.
CEIVA SUCKS!
I was very excited about buying a CEIVA for my technology-phobic, West Coast parents, who are in their 80s.I thought they would love seeing pictures of the grandkids, and they did...the one time it worked.After MANY attempts to fix it, including over a dozen phone calls to CEIVA to try to get the problem resolved, CEIVA acknowledged defeat and told us to return the unit to them.(I might add in that 1) calls to customer service take FOREVER as they will keep you on hold for a a LOOOOONG time before you actually get to talk to anyone; 2) they weren't particularly nice during the calls, and intimated to my parents that perhaps they weren't smart enough to figure out how the thing worked).

Never worked
The frame was nice and the concept is good, but it never worked.I bought a couple frames, one for a friend and one for my parents. My parents have a phone system in their house with an intercom and everything.The picture frame never worked because it can only upload pictures that are downloaded through a phone line in your house.You have to pay $100/yr for the Ceiva service the frame doesn't support a memory card.
Amazing
I bought this for my husbands grandparents so they could see pictures of their great-grandchildren more easily.They were a little overwhelmed with it at first - didn't even want to open the box.My husband went over and helped them set it up.Now they don't have to do a thing.We can even turn it on and off for them.This frame has made them so happy.I can't recommend it enough.I was hesitant at first because of the price, but to hear how happy and thankful they are is worth every penny.They are excited because they have something that no one in their community has.They are quite the talk of the neighborhood.If you are thinking of buying this for someone - especially elderly people - don't even hesitate.It's incredible.Once you get used to uploading it's a breeze (& addicting).I love, love, love that this is such an easy way to share their great-grandkids with them every single day.

Great product!
We bought one of these a year ago for my parents to see pics of their grandkids - since then we have purchased 5 more for different members of the family, and one for ourselves! It's unanimous - we've all been thrilled with this method! We all live in different places, so now we all see pictures of everyone on a more frequent basis.I love having it on a frame that sits out where all can enjoy rather than only on my computer which is in our office. Subscription for a year is $100 - which is a bit high, but has provided enough enjoyment that we think it is worth it!!!!!

Nice product -- when it works!!
A great "Grandparents" gift -- my mother doesn't even use email, so this is a great way to send her photos of the kids, and she loves it.Picture quality is not great, but is adequate.The Big Problem is, we are already on our second frame after having numerous hardware problems with the first one.Customer service was okay once you could get a human to speak with you, but this was hard to achieve.They sent out a new power cord once, which fixed the first "burn out," but meanwhile we were paying for the service and not getting any pictures.We demanded (and received) an extension of our subsctiption service for the time it was not working, but they were not about to offer this.Then the frame died for good, about 12-18 months after buying it.We did choose to buy another one since my parents loved it so much, and so far we have had no problems with the second frame for one year...

Thought I had bought the perfect present for my "techno challanged" mother. Little did I know, that this little device would challenge my "techno" skills (I used to build computers and did a bit of software design on the side).
