I Agree
I agree with everyone here regarding the need to have this Off Camera Shoe Cord, and the regret that Canon won't improve it so that it lasts longer than a couple jobs.I also appreciate the suggestion to purchase the metal foot, but I just need to point out that I haven't been able to get the screw tight enough (the threads are just plastic) to keep the flash from rotating.I end up checking and re-aligning the flash every few minutes.So, the ideal situation would be for Canon to fix their problem.

Canon needs to re-ingineer this cord
As a professional photographer, I find myself going through 5-6 of these cords each year. My equipment is my livelyhood and althoughit is used often, I am exceptionally careful with all of my gear and do not bang it around or abuse it.I use a stroboframe which makes it necessary to use this cord to raise the flash well above the focal plane of the camera.These cords are very expensive to get just a few months out of them.Eventually, the hot shoe connector will either become loose and the connection will no longer function or the plastic connector will break and your flash unit will fall to the ground. (This has happened twice to me and fortunately I was able to catch the flash unit!)
How to Prevent the Plastic Shoe Connector from Breaking Off
Other reviewers have complained about the plastic foot on the flash-bracket end cracking or breaking off. The solution is a metal "sacrificial foot" that screws into the 1/4"-20 threads on the bottom. Bogen/Manfrotto 3298 (BO3298) works perfectly. No Amazon vendor carries it as of this date, but you can find it at bhphotovideo.com. Their listing says it's for Nikon, but it works for the Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord 2 as well. ... Read more

L series without the L
This is a fantastic piece of glass.Extremely sharp and little artifacts.An awesome lens that I recommend highly.I love going to the local botanical gardens and mounting this baby on my 20D.WELL worth the cost.If you dont have a tripod, buy one.

sharp as a tack in 100mm or macro
I wanted to get a macro lens and everyone told me this was the one to get... I'm so glad I did. With the smaller sensor on my 30D, the 100mm is more like 150mm or so, so it's a nice , wide-open telephoto/portrait lens as well. I've uploaded a few photos I've taken w/ this lens to show what it's capable of in macro and telephoto. I thought the 17mm-85mm IS USM lens that came e/ my camera was sharp - but compared to this lens, the kit lens might as well be from a DIY pinhole camera.

Excellent 16-35mm (equiv.) for APS-C
Many great things have already been said about this lens, and I will support them!
Not bad, but no other options
If you have a 1.6x cropped sensor, then this is really the only super wide angle lens canon makes.The crop factor makes this equivalent to a 16-35mm lens on a full sensor.The construction quality feels solid and well built.That said, this is not an "L" lens.I'm not an "L" snob ... I'll take a value where ever I can get it.The sharpness on this lens is pretty good, but not razor sharp.Even on a tripod, even at F/8 or F/11, even with MLU, it's acceptably sharp, but not amazingly sharp.Even so, I love using this lens because the wide angle creates some great composures.The other place this lens falls short is contrast.Once again, acceptable but not amazing.This is a good lens, but not a great one.

Zowie! The Canon EF-S 10-22 sparkles but...
Up Front: If you're considering this lens, stop considering- and buy it. I had occasion to try the Tamaron Zoom in this range and noticed plastic-y digital qualities in some of the Tamaron's highlighted-texture areas. None of that is a problem with this Canon beauty. I am using it as my normal lens. The contrast is razor-sharp enough to shave with. It's graphic in monochrome and colors are pure and leap off the monitor like a politician attracted by a TV camera. It's also light weight and plenty fast enough with practically no spherical Abs....

Lenmar DLC3L Camera Battery Equivalent to Canon NB3L
I have a Canon SD-550.This battery is works perfect with it.I've noticed no difference in charge time and usage when compare with the original manufacterer one.Except the price is a lot lower.

great performance--until it got too hot and fried my camera
After reading the many good reviews here, I too bought the Lenmar battery to act as a second battery for my Canon digital camera.I was totally pleased with the excellent performance as many others have noted.The only difference I noticed between the Lenmar and OEM battery was that with lengthy continuous shooting with the LCD screen on the camera case got significantly hotter with the Lenmar battery that with the OEM.This was not a problem until I was shooting on a 101 degree day (with the Lenmar battery in) and suddenly the screen went black.I could view previously taken pictures (LCD OK) but any new photo I tried to take was black. I read later in the manual the upper operating temperature of the camera is 104 degrees.Once the camera cooled it worked again for a while, but the black photo problem continued intermittenly for a few weeks then the camera completely stopped taking photos, no matter what.So, was it the Lenmar battery's extra heat generation pushing the camera over its temperature limit and damaging the circuitry?Would it have happened if the cooler running OEM battery was installed on the hot day?I can't say for sure, but if you use a Lenmar battery I would be careful about operating it on a very hot 100 degree day (e.g. use the viewfinder, not the LCD since that generates heat, or turn the camera off a lot to cool down between shots).

Cheap and powerful
What can I say? It fits in place of the overpriced Canon NB3L battery for my SD500 and lasts longer than the OEM battery. The quality of the battery on the external is very good. No sloppy glued edges or ill-fitting parts. The battery works very well in the camera and lasts longer by one hundred or so shots. I use a gig card so I tend to shot alot at once. Even with the flash the battery life is comparable to the Canon or even longer. I bought two instead of a single Canon battery and I have not been dissappointed. ... Read more

Compared to 24-105 4L IS
After using both lenses I think this is much better. Here are my reasons:
One of the best
This is a great lens. The pictures I take are very sharp and alive with color, and the brokeh is excellent. I am a big fan of keeping a shallow depth of field when shooting people or animals, so the f/2.8 helps out. Also dim wedding receptions are no problem with even the weak built in flash on my Rebel XT. The autofocus is practically silent, accurate and very fast.
The Best All Around? Maybe
I think it very well could be so I'm not going to differ with those who say it is.I bought this to use with a new 5D and itt's simply outstanding in every regard. So far, I've kept it on the 5D and can't bring myself to take it off.

A Bit Pricy for What you Get
A little overpriced, but does look nice and is good starter package.

Excellent value; good case; worthless lanyards
The case is very stiff, thick-walled and close-fitting on the camera to provide good protection.Having an extra battery provides good security for those lengthy occassions when you don't want to miss a minute - although I have yet to run the battery out in any one session.The additional lanyards are, in my opinion, worthless - I just can't imagine a situation where the long metallic one would be useful and the short faux leather one I wouldn't trust.

Fits perfectly
This is my first digital camera experience so I have no pre-conceived criteria for a camera case.It seems well-made of durable material.It's compact, lightweight and fits the camera perfectly.It closes securely, opens quickly and easily, and, because it fits the camera perfectly, casing and uncasing the camera is a snap (no photographic pun intended).I haven't used it with the belt loop yet simply because too much of me encroaches on the belt area where the camera should reside and that, of course, is not a fault of the case.

My Camera is A410. Nice looks, sturdy built, handy belt loop. Could be an eighth (1/8) inch larger in horizontal circumference. Recommend to attach wrist strap, place camera in the case with the strap in the back left corner position. Itwill make it easy to remove camera by pulling on strep. Otherwise it is a pain in the neck. Closing flap is long enough to store the batteries, when removed from camera, under flap. (What the heck is the whole in the middle of the flap good for??)

Great multi-use lens
This lens is my favorite as I keep it on my Rebel XT at all times. I enjoy taking macro close-ups and portrait-type shots, which makes this a great lens for everyday use.It is light-weight and not bulky.My last SLR camera (years ago) was a Minolta with 50mm f/1.8 lens, and various other lenses that I rarely used.I usually don't use a zoom lens due to the extra length and weight.Also, most non-professional zoom lenses are much slower at the closest tele-position due to the higher f/stop.With a fixed focal length of 60mm, I don't mind moving myself toward or away from the subject (not a big deal).The pictures always appear to be sharp with good contrast and color saturation.
canon 60mm macro lens
the optics are the best i've ever seen. the clarity is great. the abillity to focus on small objects only 2" away allows great macro pictures. however the auto focus is much slower than most canon lenses, but i can focus manually. this is my favotite lens ever.

Sharp and Light
This was one of the first lenses that I purchased with my Rebel XT.Now after taking several thousand pictures with it I can honestly say it was well worth the cost.I very rarely have any unsharp pictures with this lens unless it is my own fault by trying to use too slow of a shutter speed without a tripod.

Deserving of "L" Status
This lens changed it all for me. I was happy with my Tamrons and Tokinas - I thought. Then I bought this lens. The colors and contrast simply POPPED out from the pics. It is amazing! While there's no red ring around it, it deserves one.

marvelous lens from Canon
I'm very happy with this lens. It offer's an ample variety of options, high image quality and it is light.

Save your money for an l series lens
While this lens is a great improvement over the kit lenses the focus is often soft in raw modes and overal just not always tight. Color accuracy is very good, not perfect but very good. Of course color accuracy is more often a result of your paper (yes really - it is) than your lens after you get to a certain point. After using this lens for 2 months and shooting perhaps 20,000 shots with it I wished I had saved my money for the inevitable l series lens. If color accuracy is your main issue, be sure to look at your photo paper too. Hp, Kodak, and even low end papers from inkpress all do strang things to color and blur your images. Try someone like MOAB paper. You will be AMAZED at how much of a difference it will make in your color accuracy and detail. I just switched to Kokapelli from MOAB for commercial prints and am amazed by the results.
ALL ABOUT VALUE
I bought this lens to replace the kit lens on the Rebel XT. I find this lens to be a very good value, a very good value. I also have the canon 28-135 3.5 ... And find the 28-105 lens to be a very stong lens for the price. It might even be just a notch clearer then the 28-135 but at half the price. It's size is nice and light weight and fits nice on the Rebel since it is a smaller DSLR.

Well of course I read the previous reviews regarding amazon shipping the grey-market version of this timer and figured that certainly by now they were shipping a US version... wrong!
And another international warranty!!!!
I also received this remote with only the international warranty.I called Amazon and they immediately sent me out a replacement free of charge; Yeah.But alas, it too had the international warranty; @#$%!.I have returned both, unopened and unused on their dime. Perhaps this is the only version they have.

It works
I got this as much for safety as anything. If I should drop my lens, a solid lens hood will help. Plastic construction will absorb some of the impact without transmitting all of it, as a metal hood would. Hopefully it will eliminate occurances of flair, although with the Canon 50mm f1.4 lens, that's not a big issue to begin with. It also can keep dust and debris off the lens surface if you're shooting in a less-than-ideal environment.

Great travel lens: light and small for a quality 70-300mm zoom
I bought this to have a good zoom to pair with my Rebel XT (350D) on backpacking trips. It weighs far less than the other options at the same size (particularly the L glass). Additionally, it is physically small for such a high power zoom. This combined with its being black makes it a fun lens to "walk around with" for candid shots since it doesn't draw much attention. As for backpacking, it is fabulous: light, small, and gives me a reasonable amount of reach for wildlife and nature shots. I've not yet paired it with a teleconverter, but, I intend to do so.
A excellent lens, compact, good traveler
I bought this lens at the same time I bought the 20D -- when the camera was first sold. It's not the lightest lens around, but it's compact, quick focusing and has few if any discernible faults. It doesn't stick out in a crowd, at least until you rack it out with the hood on.
A very well designed telephoto lens with more accessories
I like the DO (Diffractive Optics) of this lens. It's great to take pictures from a distance without using a long, bulky lens that makes me stand out like a sore thumb. Even though it is heavy, the IS (Image Stabilizer) compensates well for the shaking as I line up my shots. The dual IS switch for either full IS or panning shots (think following running players on a field) is a very nice feature.

A little extra reach at a price
This extender is limited to which lenses it will work with, most of them L lenses. Using this extender with any lens will eliminate one f stop and decrease sharpness.Auto-focus is possible on any EOS camera when used with an f/4 or faster maximum aperture lens. The version II extender adds enhanced weather-resistant construction, and improved anti-reflective surfaces in the barrel.
Just a Little Extra Reach
Make sure to check the compatibility charts to verify that your lenses will work with this before buying it since only a handful of L series lenses are compatible.If you do already have one or more of these lenses though this is a nice addition.The AF only works with lenses f/4 and faster on most camera bodies.You do also give up a little image quality by putting this between your lens and camera body, but the extra reach is really nice.

Nice accessory to get closer
I have used the 1.4x II extender for over a year. It gives me amazing detail with my 70-200L f/4 lens on a 20D. I use it mostly for wildlife and butterflies. Contrast is good with colors that pop. When shooting on a sunny day the shutter speeds are still quick with the f/5.6 and the background is blurred beautifully. In shade areas and low light a tripod is a must! There hasn't been any sacrifice in subject detail. I can see individual hairs on butterfly bodies even when shooting wide open. Great product for the price.
Recycle times fantastic.
When you need it, you need it.
Yes, it's overpriced, just like any specialty item. And yes, the screw attachment to the bottom of the camera is useless. But when you need fast recycle times or hundreds of flashes at a go, the CP-E3 is invaluable. You can strap the case to a light stand or flash bracket, and the coiled cord length is adequate for these uses. I use the elegantly compact Really Right Stuff flash bracket which has no place to attach the CP-E3, so the battery back without its case slips into my shirt or pants pocket. The case could also be strapped to your belt.

I highly recommend the Raynox DCR 1540Pro Teleconverter for the Canon S2 instead of the Canon branded one. Hoya makes a 67mm UV filter for this and both are available at Lensmate.com. The Canon WC-DC58A wide angle converter however is really good.Tiffen made a better one but it seems to not be available anymore.

Fairly decent.Produces pictures with optical blur on the edges if you use zoom.Leaves black semicircle on pictures taken with a flash about 1/5 the way up from the bottom on the picture because the flash isn't tall enough to miss the wide lens.Other than that.. it does capture a few more degrees.If you are going to pick this or the telephoto attachment, get this.

A+ Hood
It's easy to attach -- and detach -- and works well with most (but not all) of my 58mm lens. It does cut down on glare, and let's face it, the hood makes your lens look a bit more dynamic, while also protecting it from the elements.

Improves contrast and image quality while offering some protection
Hoods offer several benefits to the photographer. Primarily the hood shades the lens from stray light that may result in an unwanted discoloration or hazing of the image, or the appearance of lens flare. Shading your lens helps improve contrast and image quality. A hood is not required to eliminate these problems, as any item used to shade the lens will provide the same protection from stray light. The hood is convenient in that it is built to offer protection while ensuring that it will not inadvertently find its way into your image.
