A must if you are using G1/G2!!!
For D30 and D60 users I believe this item comes with your camera so you no need to get one... however, as a former G1 and current Black G2 user I have to tell you this charger is a MUST! Especially if you have more than 1 battery (personally I have 3). POOR MARKETING OF ITEM

GREAT BATTERY BUT....
This battery is a really nice because you can put it in calculators but if the calculator is not also solar powered and you use it a lot it could run out quickly

very handy yet no meter
this charger is good because it works on all the battery sizes but there is no meter to tell if the charging is done. also on the first usage i had to wiggle my 'd' batteries in the charger to get it working...

Great NiMh Battery Charger
The Energizer Battery charger seems to be a great buy for the money. I have been using it for many years without any problems. The NimH Batteries seem to last long and a good charger does help.I bought 2 extra chargers so I could charge 12 at one time.Another great feature is that this battery charger could charge all types of batteries. You don't need different chargers for different batteries. I have shopped around ther internet and when Amazon has it in stock in their store, Buy It! Very convenient...
This charger is a great compact size for traveling. Having the plug built-in to the back of the charger is another great feature. Just plug in the battery and plug the charger into the outlet. No extra wires to fuss with.

Light and small, like the camera.
One of these chargers is supplied with the Canon S100/Ixus, but it's good to have a spare.(when you really need one in a few years, they'll be out of production).Like the camera, this charger is really small (same size as camera) and even lighter. essential for on-the-go shooters

This is a Canon scam
I love my Canon digital camera, but this is a scam designed to fool people who think Canon is selling some kind of special AA battery that will work especially well with their brand camera. As I type this, Amazon is selling a Sony AA-NiMH charger/battery pack for less than half this price. Better yet, spend a little more (though less than this Canon price) at Radio Shack and get a system that lets you charge various NiMH battery sizes. Don't be fooled.

BAIT and SWITCH!
Buyer Beware!I know this information has been included in these reviews before, but I was thinking that Ritz Camera would have fixed things by now.What is offered is "Canon BP511 1100mAh Lithium Ion Battery Pack for Select Digital Cameras and Camcorders" and that is what I want for our Digital Rebel (it was original equipment).What they sent was "Canon BP511A 1390mAh Lithium Ion Battery Pack for Select Digital Cameras and Camcorders" just like they did for another reviewer.This battery has different power ratings because it is intended for a camcorder which has much higher motor driving requirements.When I called to complain, the man on the line told me that it was a better fit for our camera.When I told him that it may be, but I WANT the battery I ordered, he became very insulting and unpleasant.These are not the type of people I want to do business with.I returned the battery and am waiting to see if I get my refund from them.Fortunately I paid for it with a credit card so if they do not refund my money I can dispute the charges.

Like Tushar I too ordered this battery from RitzCamera, at $69 without shipping charges, only to be shipped the BP511a which can be bought online in a number of places for $49. Appears to be a pattern of deceptive practice.

I bought these batteries from RitzCamera.com, via Amazon, or at least I thought I did. Ritz actually sent me the BP-511A batteries. For these, I ended up paying $69+$6.95=$75.95. But, amazon sells the same for $49 with free shipping.

Terribly overpriced . . .

this is a good replacement for the money.you need to make sure you canon is running 1.01 of bios so it will work best.

Necessary but cumbersome
Am I the only one who didn't expect this to come with a rechargeable battery?Anyways, this accessory is a must-have if you have a big CF card and are spending a lot of time file managing your shots.The AC adaptor is useful both at home when you have the camera hooked to your PC or on vacation.I plan on taking the camera on my next vacation along with a 128 MB CF card.The CF card can store up to 700+ photos if taken with the small resolution setting, and the last thing I want is to be stuck with drained batteries while I'm browsing through my shots. Does the Job!
The pictures advertising this kit are a bit deceptive. Please realize that you are not getting another battery. What they are showing is the battery attachment that will slide into your camera while using AC Power. This kit is a must for uploading pictures onto your computer. The life of a normal battery is very short, thus this AC Pack allows you to save your battery power while bringing the pictures to your computer. All things considered, this kit is worth the money. In the meantime, these digital cameras really need a battery that lasts longer.
