5-0 out of 5 stars Kodak High Definition 400 Speed film
The color is much better than Kodak Max 400 speed and the pictures are much clearer.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good consumer based film.
Does anyone here remember Kodak Royal Gold? Well this film is the same thing, just re-packaged in a spiffy new "HD" box. Overall the quality of prints made from this film are pretty darn sharp, even on cloudy days. Note that in some situations bright subjects will result in cartoonish colors which seem to bleed into each other. The grain is minimal as far as amateur based film is concerned, and in my opinion it outperforms Fuji Superia X-tra 400. Considering that Kodak UC400 is now available in various common department stores for about 2 dollars more, I'm ditching HD for the far less grainy professional UC line of film.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Film
This film has great color reproduction and performance.I would give this film 5 stars except for the fact that Fujifilm Superia X-TRA 400 provides similar performance for a cheaper price. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Kodak Professional TRI-X 400/400TX Black-and-White Film is a high-speed panchromatic film that is a good choice for photographing dimly lit subjects or fast action. It is also an excellent choice for photographing subjects that require good depth of field and fast shutter speeds, as well as for extending the distance range for flash pictures. This roll of TRI-X 400 film (400TX) is a 35-millimeter roll and is recommended for push-processing applications. TRI-X 400 black-and-white film delivers fine grain that is good for producing high-quality images; wide exposure latitude for rich tonality maintained with overexposure and underexposure; high sharpness that is good for applications that require a moderate degree of enlargement; and a high resolving power for a good rendition of detail. All of these features makes the TRI-X 400 film an excellent choice for professional black-and-white photographers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect film for SLRs.
If you have a 35mm SLR camera, it's hard to beat this film. It's plenty fast enough, and the grain is amazing. Even if you have a small, compact camera, while you may have some trouble, this film is great. Make sure you DON'T get it developed at a grocery store or wall-mart type place: this will make any film look horrible. At least go to your local ritz/wolf camera, or use a lab. You'll see the difference. Ultimatly, A superb film.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for the price
We used the film with a cheap camera on our last trip and I truely didn't have my expections too high but all pictures came out nicely. Pictures we took in the evening did not come out as clear (greyish), possibly due to the quality of the camera. All in all - Strongly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great versitility at an exceptional value
Kodak makes great film, and Gold Max is one of their best amature films. This film provides maximum versitility for outdoor sports, and for the decently lighted indoor shots.Grain structure is good, holding well up to an 8"x10" print.Best part about this film is the price...I think Kodak and Amazon.com have a real winner here. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars great pictures at home
I love this product, because I love the camera and the printing dock.I have been using them for 2 years. My daughter-in -law and son got theirs a little earlier because of the arrival of their first child.I saw it and had to have one of these marvelous things that I could do by myself at home.I think she discovered your site and that you sold the product. We have both purchased from you a few times. Thanks for the reasonable film prices that have allowed me to take more pictures and copy for my friends and relatives.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good While They Lasted ... but No Charge After 3 Years
We bought these 3 years ago, and they were great while they lasted. Alas, today they no longer hold a charge. (So much for the urban myth of holding a charge for 1,000 times). Anyway, they were ok for 3 years, and now off to get Sony batteries & charger for $15.00. We are disappointed, however, that the charge lasted only approx 36 times (once/month).36 <> 1000.
5-0 out of 5 stars AA Rechargeable Batteries
I am very pleased with this product in that it performs as advertised. I am using these in a Kodak digital camera and have recharged them several times in the past month. When fully charged they last as long as a non-rechargeable and have already paid for themselves.

4-0 out of 5 stars Faster is *not* necessarily better.
The film is fine. Its ASA of 400 is a good speed for outdoor pics with little motion. An ASA of 200 is however preferable for those whose pictures will be taken mostly indoors. Those who want to freeze motion (eg. sports) will benefit from an ASA of 1000. Portraiture should be done on slow, ASA 100 or lower (if available) film. Value within each speed should be calculated by exposures divided by roll price; in general, the 40 exposure size is a better bargain than these 25s.

4-0 out of 5 stars As with cars, so with film: the faster the better
Kodak makes the industy's best film. Period. Like the title says, the faster the film, the better the results (for amatures anyway). 400 is the minimum that any amatuer should buy, and generally the results are pretty good. 800 speed is even better, but be prepared to pay more for it. 800 is good for low light and high-speed subjects. However, for most situations, 400 should be fine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kodak 400 speed is far superior to the 200 speed
I recently came back from a trip to Europe and developed my 200 speed and 400 speed film at the same time. The pictures from the 400 speed film were far superior to the 200 speed film - even though the pictures were taken under the same conditions. The pictures from the 200 speed were grainy and lacked the color quality. It is worth spending more money for the 400 - regardless of the what the conditions will be when you expect to take your pictures. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I didn't know low light photography was possible in 1950
I have used Tri-X Pan at EI 3200 and even 6400, developed in Rodinol. Tri-X was introduced in the 1950's, Rodinol in the 1890's. Such a combination produces low-light performance that is quite remarkable. Now we have T-Max 3200, which has much greater speed, but was not introduced until the 1980's.5-0 out of 5 stars Grainy but forgiving
This film is classic stuff.A bit grainy, but extremely forgiving of questionable exposure times and screwy processing conditions and therefore great for a darkroom knucklehead like me.Plus, it's cheap and readily available; in this color-oriented day and age, few other B&W films are either.

4-0 out of 5 stars Versatile High Speed Black and White Film
This classic Kodak high speed black and white film still holds its own against its newer competitors because of its versatility. It is one of the few films that can be easily pushed and yet still retain much of its shadow detail. However, it isn't the best; I believe Ilford HP5 Plus is better than Tri-X for shadow detail and contrast. And of course Kodak T-MAX 400 and Ilford Delta 400 are vastly superior with regards to shadow detail and contrast. Still, one can't go wrong using this high speed black and white film; a classic that is still worth using. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointment
First I must say that the camera took great pictures, while it lasted. The trouble is that the lens mechanism is much too fragile. We had our camera for about six months with no issues. Then one day the lens got stuck in the protracted position when I turned the camera off, and there was nothing I could do to get the camera working again. It just displayed the message "lens error". Batteries were not the problem. I even tried it with an ac adapter. Luckily I still had the receipt, so I sent the camera to Kodak and got it back in a few weeks working again. Kodak claims there was nothing wrong with it (yeah, right). Unfortunately, we also bought one of these cameras for my in-laws (back when we were still enjoying ours), but we lost that receipt. So when their lens jammed (within 3 months), we had no choice but to get a new camera. That's just a shame.

5-0 out of 5 stars CD33/C330 Big Bang!
I purchased this camera and it works great. Setup is easy and the pictures are great. Kodak no longer makes this model CD33. It has been upgraded to the C330 model with just little bit more MP. You get great pics for a reasonable price.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love it
I love this camera. It works great. I love the video on it. It takes great pictures. It even has different settings you can use.My only problem is it does eat batteries. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Medium Film Black and White Film Around
Kodak's T-MAX 100 black and white film still remains the finest ISO 100 speed black and white film available. It is the one I use when quality counts, with respect to both contrast and resolution. When developed properly in T-MAX developer, it will yield the finest, richest detail I have seen for any black and white film. It is still almost impressive too when developed in standard D-76 developer. Its closest rival is Ilford Delta 100, which is almost as fine as this film with regards to contrast and resolution. For me it is the perfect all around black and white film when high speed (ISO 400 or higher) isn't important.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the Best 400 Speed Color Print Film Ever
This film is simply gorgeous.
5-0 out of 5 stars a picture is worth a thousand oohs
This is great film, in the days of digital cameras it is so great to pick up a film camera and shoot a roll of this and be reminded how beautiful a real picture can be. The color is deep, vibrant, and rich. I wanted to see just how much we were really losing in digital (now don't get me wrong I love my digital SLR but...) and I set the tripod up with a 300MM pentax lens that had a screwmount for the tripod so lens and tripod stayed in place, shot a set of pictures of some roses with my ist* D and the shot some with my P30t and was just amazed when I got the film pictures back as compared to the digital prints from the same photofinisher. there was no comparison in the depth of color and how rich the tones and hues were. I sure hope we don't lose out on this great medium for the convience of digital.
