A Great beginner SLR camera
I bought this camera to learn how to take great pics.This camera is definitely worth it.Especially for the price it sells for nowadays (I paid nearly $300 for mine when I got it).The N55 takes great shots and is easy to learn on.After using this camera I feel I am ready to upgrade in the near future.
Love Nikon
I bought this camera because the price was so low ($199 with the lens) and I wanted to be able to print very large sized photos. I specifically got this to take on a trip to Austrlia and then Nova Scotia. I also took my digital camera as well. of course the prints from this camera are far more beutiful then the digital camera, there is just something about film. I wonder how far off we are from it being gone all together.

Great Camera
I bought this camera almost a year ago before I went on a trip to Italy... I was kind of worried about it because I had never had an SLR before, but I really wanted one, and I wanted to make sure I didn't have cheap looking pictures from my trip which I often had before.

NO problems with my N75
i have taken over 40 rolls of film with my Nikon N75, and i have had no problems at all with it.it is very user-friendly and lightweight.i've taken the camera to many places in the US, and to Rome.it has never failed me. and, it takes amazing quality pictures.
bad camera
I thought I was the only one having problems with Nikon N75! Beside the fact I've got far better pictures with my old Pentax MZ 10 (I don't even want to go into details) my Nikon N75 it's now broken; after less than 20 rolls! Instead of loading the film it rewinds it back. I already lost 5 rolls. I thought it was my bad luck to get a bad camera but apparently exactly the same thing happened to other people. We should get our money back!

One-way switch from minolta for me
i used to be all for minolta products, but when they had all been in at least once for servicing (at my expense usually) and my maxxum 5 SLR refused to take film in the middle of a project, i needed something reliable, i thought Nikon was like the rolls-royce of the camera world, by way of automotive comparisons i don't know how to say it, they're like top of the line features for economy prices, i paid $150 roundabout for my N75 with a tamron 28-80 lens (great lens btw) and it's been a fabulous package so far, i've used it way more in the past 6 monthes than i ever could have used the Minolta in it's 2 years, even without the 7.5 monthes total between 3 servicing ventures.i am totally a nikon guy now, and if that ever changes, i'll update this review! ... to serious amateur. I bot this camera back in 96 or 97. Took thousands of pictures. This camera takes great pictures and is very very reliable. Even did a couple friends' wedding with it.

NO problems with my N75

bad camera

Could do better
Nikon's current version of One Touch 90 is relatively low cost but you get what you pay for.Takes great pictures, but the mechanics for the self-opening lens are hit or miss.I've bought two of this camera in four months and have had the lens mechanism fail AGAIN.Yet my One Touch 90 bought in the early 90s lasted 10 years.To avoid this problem, I'd pay the money for the upgraded model One Touch 180.

Great Quality
I've read many of the reviews written on this camera and must disagree. I've owned this project for about 1.5 years and have rarely had a problem with the quality of the photos.Whereas at least one review commented that the photos turned out "dark and greasy", I can honestly say that I've taken the photos and compared them to the item/animal being photographed and the color couldn't be any closer to reality.The only thing to remember is that if you're trying to take pictures of young children who don't sit still very long, you may want to turn off the red eye reduction (this applies for any brand of camera with red-eye reduction)

Only lasted 3 months
I was hesitant to buy this camera because I had a previous model of the Nikon One Touch that only lasted a year.But the price was good, and it seemed to have the quickest response time (time between when I pressed the button and the picture actually took-- important for shooting an on-the-go toddler!)It took FANTASTIC pictures for 3 months, clear, great focus, easy to use.Then the lens started not opening up all the way, I would have to manually pull it open.didn't realize that at my daughter's bday party and got a roll of fuzzy pics back. Now I have a roll of film stuck inside of it from Halloween, it won't rewind, new batteries, everything.I won't be buying a Nikon anymore. ... Read more

fuzzy pictures
I have to say right up front this camera takes fuzzy pictures! we cannot figure out why! If we eliminate using the zoom that reduces the fuzzy pictures but we still get 2 or 3 in the roll. I recently took a picture of my daughter smiling for the first time and was so excited about gettting the film developed. Of course, there were 2 pictures fuzzy and one was the pic of my daughter smiling. I was mortified. I do not recommend this camera at all and am shopping for a new one. I did look up on the internet and not often but i did find another person with the same problem. I would have taken the camera back but it did not start this problem until 4 or 5 months into use!

Good, Economical Camera
If you still want a film camera and don't want to break the bank, this camera is a perfect candidate. Probably the best feature of this Nikon camera that even Nikon's literature won't tell you is the design. No I'm not talking about the way it looks, but rather where things are located. For once a camera maker has located the flash in correct proximity to the lense! Compare this camera to the others when you are in the store (or even online for that matter). The flash is located farther away from the lense than on pretty much all the other makes and models I've looked at. Why is this important you ask? This is one of the few cameras I tried in my quest for a new camera that did not produce garish red-eye. I didn't even need to use the mostly gimmicky red-eye reducing feature to get good pictures. I maybe get one picture per roll that exibits noticeable red-eye... and my house has poor lighting to boot. If the flash on a camera is located far enough away from the lense you don't have the red-eye problem so prevalent in the increasingly tiny cameras you see nowadays. Kudos Nikon! You got it right! Watch... they'll discontinue this design next week or something. Also, the majority of pictures I took were very clear, exhibiting as much, and in some photos, more detail than some of the more expensive, feature laden cameras I tried. I tried Pentax, Olympus, and Canon's new U line. The only issue I have with this camera is the shutter speed (1/200th of a second). If your subject moves quickly, which kids often do... expect some blurred photos. But all the portrait-type shots I took, where the subject was still, were very clear and detailed. Photos taken between 4 to 8 feet were excellent. Photos taken further away or using the zoom extended to max are good, but I wouldn't say excellent, they do appear a little grainy and sometimes out of focus, but I noticed graininess when using the zoom on ALL the little point-n-shoots I tried. Also when using this camera, there is a little circle in the viewfinder used to lock the focus on the subject. This is very accurate, or shall I say touchy, because you need to place the circle EXACTLY on what you want to be in focus. If you place the circle on the subject's shirt, the shirt may be crystal clear, but the person's face a tad out of focus. This is a perfect camera for taking head-n-shoulder group or individual portrait shots. For the price you pay for this, it takes very capable pictures and you don't have to stress about red-eye, mainly because it is built right. I would give this camera 4 stars because of the slower shutter speed, but because it's one of the few cameras I've come across where the lense and flash are laid out correctly, combined with the value pricing, I give it 5 stars.

This camera is a great buy.The timer function is great for when you want everyone in the picture and there is no stranger around to take it.I have taken many family pictures this way.All pictures seem to turn out great despite our lack of photography knowledge.I liked ours so much, I bought one for my mom and she finally gave up her disposable camera addiction.The result is that she too gets great pictures.Some cameras have too many bells and whistles and some not enough...this one is just right. ... The camera works great! I would say it will work best for someone who wants a no fess type camera. I do however have one concern. When I purchased this camera, I saw no mention of it being a refurbished item. Theone I received appears to be so, at least according to the stamp on thewarranty card that changes the 1 year warranty to a 90 Day Warranty becauseit is refurbished. So check before you buy.

Good, inexpensive and reliable camera!

Great little camera
I bought this camera 7 years ago, right before I got married.We were going to the Mountains for our honeymoon and wanted a reliable, small, easy-to-load camera.We also wanted a panoramic feature to be able to take photos of the exquisite scenery.This camera fit the bill wonderfully.It is super-easy and quick to load--always a plus.All of the features--timer, tripod mount, various flash options, macro capability--make it extremely versitile.Honestly, I haven't used the panoramic mode since my honeymoon.But I have put many, many rolls of film thru it over the past 7 years and all the photos turn out wonderfully.If there is one negative, it is the wide-angle lens the camera has.Sometimes, objects that'd be easy to shoot with a normal camera come out as little specks (imagine looking down at people from the top of a tall building: they're teeny tiny).Overall, however, it is superb.

OK, but nothing special
I've had this camera for a couple of years and have used it for family events, etc. When some friends and I went to Yosemite, I noticed that their point-and-click cameras got better results. It's a fine camera, but you can't zoom in or out at all. It only has two settings: either for mountains or for up close. Also, I've accidentally dropped it a couple of times and the batteries, film, everything has shot out of it. It didn't break, but it's not super durable either. Anyway, it's fine, but next time I'm going to spend a little more money for one with more features.

EXCELLENT LITTLE CAMERA
I really enjoy my 110S. I like a camera that does the thinking for me.This has the Active AutoFocus system which really works great; and the zoom is superior and easy to operate. Go from a panoramic to close-ups with ease. Anytime Flash system picked the right setting indoors and out; without any redeye.The viewfinder helps you center your subject and the LED tells you when to focus and the setting is correct. don't know about the other review who panned this little gem but mine is one of the best camera's I've ever had

One of the best lens for portrait and low light photography.
I don't even know where to start. This lens produces sharp pictures and great color and contrast. And for its price (which seems to climb recently), it is worth more than 5 stars rating. I initially get this lens for low light action and sport photography (as this lens is famous for being one of the fastest lens together with its brother 50mm f/1.4), but I also found out that this lens is also perfect for portrait and other general purposes (macro etc).This is definitely a very versatile lens.
great lens if you dont mind manual focus
I'm not a pro photographer.I bought the nikon d70 that came with the lens. I was pretty happy with it, but I felt I need more flexibility in low light conditions.so i bought this lens.so from a 3.5 to a 1.8, i was able to shoot in a faster speed in low light conditions. the only problem i had with this was that automatic focus kinda sucked. compared to the other lens, this was pretty loud when automatic focus was turned on.for some pictures AF didnt work so i had to trun to manual focus.not completely happy but for about 100 bucks i guess its worth it

Great Value - FYI
This lens is worth the few bucks it costs - no question about it - but it's true that it performs poorly in low light situations but for what it is supposed to do - it is a great value for a Nikon telephoto -I give it two thumbs up.There are many good tech specific reviews of this lens already posted here from those of us who use this lens and most of what was said,I agreed with.So the main reason I wanted to post my review was to give other future buyers of this lens a FYI.This very same lens is included in the "Nikon Zoom 300 SLR Digital Camera Accessory Kit 9983" -- which is what I purchased through Amazon.AND, if you can believe it, it costs about the same and you get more for your money.[a good nikon camera bag, an extended warranty for your camera as well as for the lens..]Anyway, I wouldn't have found this had another Nikon enthusiast not told me about it.So I wanted to pass on this tip -- in case anybody was interested in a few extra accessories with this lens.Hope the info helps.Yes, good lens and also the kit I mentioned is a fantastic buy.

Very nice zoom lens, not for low light or dark indoor though
First, I'm giving this 70-300mm lens a 5 stars rating partly because the price is inexpensive (which is good in my opinion). Usually you get what you paid for, however in this case you get much more than what you paid for.
you get what you pay for
I was amazed to find this lens for such a low price. I bought it with only a rudimentary knowledge of aperture.I only hand-hold my camera in a range of light settings from wedding ceremonies to outdoor parades, and every time I have used this, the images turn out fuzzy.I blame myself partially (of course!) but just wanted to mention to those of you out there who might be thinking about this that it is really only ok for outdoor situations where the light is bright and you are stable, shooting with a very steady hand. ... One of the best lens for portrait and low light photography
I don't even know where to start. This lens produces sharp pictures and great color and contrast. This lens is perfect for low light and/or action/sport photography (as this lens is famous for being one of the fastest lens together with its brother 50mm f/1.8). This lens is also perfect for portrait and other general purposes (macro etc). This is definitely a very versatile lens.
Nikon 50mm f/1.4D AF Nikkor Lens for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras
It is what I expected

Nikon 50mm f/1.8D AF is better on D50/D70/D200 DSLR's
I owned both the 50mm f/1.8 and 50mm f/1.4 lens. I also own a Nikon D70s and D200. I took test shots to compare the sharpness of these two lenses. The 50mm at f/1.4 is very very soft. The pictures at f/1.4 look like you are looking through a sheer veil. A dreamy look for sure, but not at all pleasing. At an aperture of f/1.8 the 50mm f/1.8 is still sharper than the 50mm f/1.4 at f/1.8. It isn't until the 50mm f/1.4 is at f/2.8 that the two lenses have similar sharpness. At no aperture was the 50mm f/1.4 better than the 50mm f/1.8. Why spend so much more money for the 50mm f/1.4, when it is so soft at f/1.4 as to be useless and does not match the sharpness of the 50mm f/1.8?
