Enough about the cable already!
Let's burn this into our memory for future reference. When you buy a printer, YOU DON'T GET A CABLE. This is true even if you buy a new monitor! Simply use the cable your old one hooked up with and you're set. Now let's concentrate on reviewing the item in question instead of the peripherals!
Great for any budget
This is very nice printerI must say...Prints fast, quiet, and sharp. I guess the only gripe would be no printer cable included, I mean who sells a printer without a cable?? But all u gotta get is a regular usb cable..... won't cost u anything..
Nocable
I just received the printer. In trying to set it up, I realized there is no computer to printer cable included, nor any explanationof what kind you need. You have to bail out of the setup and solve that little dilema.

comaprison to a 1ds (Mark I)
It seems unfair to compare this camera to a 10D (or 20D or 30D), either favorably or unfavorably. These instruments are good in their own right, but hardlyare in the same league as the 1DS Mark II. I have used all three of the xxD's, and an original 1ds body as well. It occurs to me that the folks who are interested in shelling out over 5 grand for a camera already have an idea about what they want, and that some of them are asking if they should trade in their 1ds body for a mark ii. It is to them that I am adressing this review. The remarks, I think will help those who have less experience with the line. Bear with me for the technical jargon and the emphais on Mark I vs II comparison. I want to help the buyer to decide if there really is a reason to spend this kind of money.
makes disposables obsolete!
Ive gotten used to the disposable kodaks i got from the checkout isle at walmart. The problem with those, though, is that they run out of pictures pretty quick. The last straw was when we ran out of film at the family reunion just as cousin billy was about to show us how to catch a lizard with a rubber band and a twinky. At that point I knew I needed an upgrade.
List price of $11,999.99?
First, the Canon 1Ds Mark II is an awesome professional camera.

Doesn't Last
I bought this based upon the reviews here last year. So much for community info. It has already started "banding" in less than a year. A new print head is about $125. It clogs very often, possibly because I use cheap ink from "Printpal." Maybe it would do better with Canon ink, but I never tried it. The separate color cartridges are a plus. This is the first time I tried Canon. I'm going to go back to HP and try a Laser printer to replace this useless piece of $#^*.
great start, dissappointing finish
Loved the print quality, speed, cost per page.
Would be an Excellent Printer but Lacks CD Tray
This is a very good printer and could be really excellent if it included the tray for printing directly on CD's and DVD's.I wholy recommend buying this model and then follow up with finding a third-party tray.Canon seems to omit the tray when this model is sold in some parts of the world. The good news is that there is a supplier.I've got the printer and the CD tray and get outstanding printable discs without using those darn adhesive labels.

Great product for home office
Canon is one of the reputable companies in copier business. This product is compact, very reliable, and easy to operate. It's good for home office. The contrast adjustment button allows you to optimize the output copies. The starter toner cartridge yields about 1000 copies. Cost of copy less than 5 cents each.
Buyer Beware!
This printer is wonderful.I haven't one negative remark concerning the functionality of the machine.I am warning about this purchase because to replace the cartridge is $85 upwards. Obviously, half the price of the "copier" is the"cartridge enclosed."

shuts down intermittently
I've had this camera for over a year now. I think I was able to use it for a good 4 months It is not being used right now because they took too long to send it back to me before I over seas. I gave the over a month to send it back to me. I bought this camera in June 2005. By October 2005, I started having problems with it shutting down whenever I tried to take a picture and left the lense protruding. I didn't send it in right away because I thought the problem would go away. I finally had to send it in because the problem increased. I got it back and it worked for a couple of weeks without a problem and then the problem started again. I had to send it in again and when I got it back the problem was even worse. So I sent it in a third time and requested that send me a new one but I got the same one back. I had to pay for the shipping all three times but they paid for the postage back. I wasn't charged anything since it was still under warranty. I don't know if they fixed the problem or not; I am very doubtful. I still gave them two stars because the size and the quality of the pictures in daylight and at night are really great. The battery and memory card cover is very flimsy.
BROKEN LCD SCREEN!!!
People are not kidding about the broken LCD problems with these cameras! We picked up our camera this morning to take pictures of our son opening his birthday presents and found our screen was cracked! We didn't do anything to it!We have taken GREAT care of this camera for 1 year.Lots of other people have also had similar problems with the LCD cracking suddenly and for no apparent reason!Beware!
Great Camera
I'm on my 3rd Canon, 2nd ELPH.My first Canon ELPH was an Advantix one (2001), great camera and still have it.2nd ELPH was this one and its survived 3 months of military training and a 9 month deployment so far.Again great camera. My 3rd Canon was just bought last night (video camera).

Standard Definition doesn't get much better
The Canon XL2 is as good as the Panasonic equivalent. Both of these cameras are better than eachother depending on who you ask. If you ask me, the Canon's picture is more pleasing, less noisy, and more capable in difficult shooting situations. I love Canon's controls, everything you need is available without searching through menus. The Panasonic is lighter, less awkward to use, and more compact; but Canon's lens and features more than make up for it in my opinion. Best camera you can get for the money.
Okay for the 60i
I'm a non-byist consumer; and ex-owner of the XL1 and XL1S.
Heavy and image quality not as good as i thought
I looked at this and the DVX100. I plumped for this because it had better low light support and interchangeable lens.

GREAT CAMERA! I'm loving it!
I'm surprised to see that a lot of people only give 1* to this camera! I've had it for 2 years now and i just love it! Thanks to it, I discovered I had a real passion for photography... It's very easy to use and my pictures are great! When I show them, people usually tell me " you must have an expensive camera"... and i just show them my little Canon S500 and they are surprised with the result!
Junk!Do NOT Buy It!!
Over 90% of pictures I took by this Canon are blurry. No way can you fix it. I really got fed up with it. Waist your money. Waist your time. More important, waist your precious moments!
Shocked and Dissapointed
I have known Canon to be a very high quality company. However, I was deeply shocked and disappointed to find that this camera fails to meet the expectations I had about this camera. A few years ago I bought the Fujiffilm 3800. I loved this camera but after a few ski trips I found it rather bulky. I then bought the Canon S500 becaus of its small size and after many good reviews about the S400. For most of the pictures I take on a ski trip this camera is fine. However, if you are taking pictures other than outdoors in the daytime, this camera is worse than a disposable camera. First, there is no red-eye reduction. It simply does not work when I set it to take flash with red-eye reduction. Second, pictures taken at dusk or dawn come out blurry. I would speculate that the shutter speed is way too slow and you would need a tripod. Third, night picture?....Forget about it. I tried to get a beatiful picture of the Chicago skyline but the picture was underexposed. So, I tried the manual mode and played with the exposure settings and I could not get a setting that would produce non-blurry pictures. Looks like I'll be back in the market for a Fujifilm. After all the reviews I've read, I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop (E18, LCD, etc.). Not to mention the terrible service that I have been reading about.

Some Important CONS you must be aware of
First off, let me make it clear that I am satisfied with this camera. I have had it for 8 months now and I have put it through its paces and its held up fine.
Best camera for the price
I bought this camera six months ago for my 12 year old daughter. It was her (and ours) first digital camera.I read so many reviews prior to selecting this model. The reviews for this camera were so helpful. This camera has been so easy to use and it takes excellent pictures.Rechargeable batteries are definitely a must! This camera is the best camera for this price, no doubt about it.We have taken still shots and videos. It is so fun to have the option to take a video. We have some great clips. All I can say is we are so happy with the camera. We would definitely choose it again.
Good deal
Good camera for the $129 I paid. Does everything pretty well, and your picture modes are pretty customizable. Only qualm is it takes a second or two longer than I wish when the camera saves/loads pictures to the memory card. Might be a problem when trying to shoot consecutive pictures-- but probably wouldn't be doing it with this type of camera anyways.

Editorial Review Canon's 18x50 IS binoculars incorporate an optical image stabilizer for shake-free viewing and minimal eye fatigue. This technology was first developed for Canon video camcorders and is now available in many of Canon's binoculars. The system employs a Vari-Angle Prism, dual transparent plates, independent vertical and horizontal sensors, and a dedicated microprocessor to continuously adjust the prism to maintain a steady image. |
