3-0 out of 5 stars I'm sending it back.
I bought this lens for use on my 80-400mm lens. Since the 80-400 has a minimum focusing distance of like 8 feet, I thought the 500D would help get me in closer, even though I can get great closeups from 8ft at 400mm. But what the 500D does is give you an extremely limited focusing range, and focusing is easier accomplished by moving the camera than the focusing ring, which kind of defeats the benefit of having it on a long lens. Am I making sense?

5-0 out of 5 stars Up Close and Personal ...
The Canon 500D 77mm Close Up Lens does the job for getting up close and personal. Highly recommended for macro if you have a 77mm lens. I use my Canon 20D DSLR and the Canon 100-400mm IS USM and the 500D works great with them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Sharp
This is a wonderful closeup lens.It easily ranks with the Nikon multi-element closeup lenses.I use it on my 24-105 and don't have to carry a macro lens with me most of the time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For the price ...Just PERFECT!
The Canon EF 55-200mm II USM isdefinitly worth the price.Autofocus responds well at all focal lengths.(See my photos for ballgame action & family portraits)

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice lens for the price
The Canon EF 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6 II USM is great lens for its price. I highly recommend this lens to those that have just gotten into using a DSLR camera.

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for ...
This is a re-tread of Canon's APS 55-200 lens. It complements the 18-55 that comes with the Digital Rebel, but doesn't really have much else going for it.So-so image quality, and cheap plastic/poor quality construction. In general, a wobbly lens is NOT a good thing!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Allows you to use AC power if your battery dies
I bought this item thinking that it was a battery that allowed you to charge it by simply plugging it into an outlet. Unfortunately it is not. This product is basically a way to use your camera for extended periods of time by using AC power instead of a battery. If you were going to spend over an hour with your camera hooked up to a computer, maybe this will work for you. I found that the using battery is sufficient though. The ACK-DC10 works well if you need to power your camera without using it's battery.

5-0 out of 5 stars LOVE the camera and accessories
Took the camera and accessories to the Philippines and they worked wonderfully. It was so nice having a small cameraalong with the digital slr.The power adapter is perfect for downloading pics although the battery worked well too.Love this little GEM.

5-0 out of 5 stars Canon SD200
I love this little camera. Its just what I wanted. I read a few reviews on these smaller-type size cameras and this one lives up to its very good reviews. Especially for $200. And I don't need any more pixels than 3.2. I'm not planning on printing any posters besides, I don't have a printer that will print something that big and I don't plan on wanting one or getting one anytime some.

2-0 out of 5 stars There are better polarizer options than Canon
Polarizing filters are used to eliminate glare on non-metallic surfaces like glass or water. They can also be used to increase the contrast and color saturation of your image. I use my polarizer not only to eliminate glare, but also to make skies a nice shade of blue or to get some "pop" out of clouds.

3-0 out of 5 stars Conversion adapter for A85
It worked well but I am not sure what its function is.It seems to me that the camera could have been designed so that the zoom lens could fit without having to attach an adapter. The problem is that you have to remove the existing cowling from the camera and hope you do not loose it (which I almost did).

1-0 out of 5 stars wrong item, and it doesn't say so
Be careful ordering this item - make sure it's the right one for your camera. While it says it's for the A95, it isn't.While it doesn't say in the header that it's the LA-DC52C, it is, and the A95 camera requires the LA-DC52D.I had to return the wrong one and reorder the right one.I purchased the wrong one based on amazon's direction when purchasing accessories and don't want others to make the same mistake. ... Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Features

  • Since the lens is designed exclusively for digital SLR photography, it provides high image quality in terms of resolution, contrast and flatness of image field
  • It employs a new optical system designed to confine the changing angles of incidences of light rays reaching the imager within a certain scope over the entire image field from the center to the periphery, by considering the effects of variances due to zooming
  • Peripheral light fall-off is minimized when compared with that of conventional lenses for film cameras so that images are uniformly bright from the center to the periphery
  • Complicated mechanisms are built in the compact body thanks to new mechanical artifices. The lens is a multi-purpose zoom lens, yet excellent portability and ease of use are assured. A number of invisible engineering innovations required to downsize the lens, produce high precision parts and increase durability are incorporated in the new AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO since manufacturing this type of zoom lens with such complicated mechanisms inside was almost impossib
  • The Zoom Lock prevents unwanted barrel extension when carrying the lens/camera combination

1-0 out of 5 stars Low-tech
I still love my EOS 100 / Elan but hate the eye cup: it keeps coming off, and it's a miracle that I never lost the original piece. The 3 spares that I just ordered should keep me going for another decade or so.

3-0 out of 5 stars Works fine with Optura 60
I'm using this with an Optura 60. The sound quality is fine. It doesn't totally eliminate the motor noise but it's a definite improvement. Sure, there are cheaper mics that do a better job in reducing motor noise which I have tried, but the first time I forgot to turn on the mic I missed some of the first belly laughs of my newborn and immediately decided to give this mic a shot. Bottom line, the combo of better sound quality than the internal mic and camera integration was worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Upsetting...
Not seeing many reviews, I'm writing this as a warning. This mic is horrible. I bought it to get rid of the "motor noise" from my Canon Optura Pi, as many others have. When I listen now, the sound is much worse. You can barely hear people speak over the loud humming... THIS MIC IS HORRIBLE!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Good for the Optura 20
Although you can't get this item through Amazon directly, I thought I'd submit a review since I found it fustrating not finding anything on this microphone. After ordering it from BH Photo, I tried it out on my Canon Optura 20.The main reason I purchased an external microphone was to get rid of the annoying motor buzz noise.I thought the DM-50 having been made by Canon would have been very compatible with the Optura 20.I was wrong. The intelligent hot shoe worked nicely as it was convenient not to have to worry about turning the microphone on.The sound quality was horrible. It got rid of the motor noise somewhat but you can still hear it.What was bad was that the microphone produced an ambient annoying hissing, dirty noise, even with the wind sock.I thought it was perhaps picking up motor noise from nearby appliances but did not turn out to be the case. The microphone also picked up the hum from the zoom when zooming quickly, however this was the least annoying.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great but too expensive
The adapter works easily, snapping on and off in seconds. It's large but very lightweight. My complaint is this is simply a piece of plastic which could not cost Canon more than 10 cents.Shame on Canon for charging close to $20 rather than including it with the camera for free.

5-0 out of 5 stars A really sweet long lens
I've been using this lens about six years. In all that time, I can't remember ever shooting at any aperture smaller than f/5.6.It's amazingly sharp wide open and I've never had any reason to stop it down. When I first bought it, I used it on a tripod almost all the time. These days, I've started using it handheld and I can appreciate how well it handles. In good light, autofocus is fast and accurate. In low brightness and low contrast light, it gets a little slow and sometimes hunts. Not a real problem, just switch off the autofocus and use the superb manual focus ring.Images snap in and out of focus easily whether you do the focusing or you let the lens do it.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of Canon's Classic prime L's
I've had this lens for about two weeks and it is truly one of Canon's classic L primes.I got it for nature shoots and it has produced "WOW" results. Don't worry about the f/5.6. It's as sharp at that as many lenses are a f/8.It's in the class of the 35L and the 135L.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just a great lens!
I have ordert this lens, and i am convinsed i have made the right choise.. I have read many reviews about this lens, and all what people said about it have come true.. Its very sharp and you don't need to stop it down to get better results. Straight from aperture 5.6 it is razorsharp! Light and well build and the build in hood is splended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice bag but too small for MacBook Pro

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Battery, But You'll Need A Longer One
I ordered a Cannon GL2 and this is the battery that comes standard with the package. The technology is great. You can charge the battery any time in its cycle without worrying about shortening its life span. Just make sure that you don't charge it fully and then perhaps not use it for a few months. If you charge it, plan to use it. The battery only gave me about an hour of use with my LCD screen, a little longer through the viewfinder. Great for playing around with your new camera, but you'll need a longer lasting model once you actually go out and shoot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little remote
Great for using with a tripod, now you can be in the pictures too.

1-0 out of 5 stars Awful In so many ways
I got this for my S70. First off, in order to use it, you have to set the S70 to "radio control" (about 9 button pushes). Then you had better stay no further away than six feet or so (and only in *front* of the camera-the remote doesn't work from the rear!). Oh, and if you want to adjust your framing, forget it-the zoom is immobilized.
