Perfect Traveler's Camera
I bought this camera when it first came out, I have taken it on many trips and parties including a 2 month backpacking trip through Europe. Every picture was awesome, almost never had to change it from "Auto" mode, the video quality is incredible and much better than cameras on the same price range. Size of the camera is perfect, slick, and elegant. A road warrior too, I must have droped this thing at least 5 times in different ocations and it keeps on trucking.

I have had my new Powershot A530 for about 7 days now and this seems to be a tiny little camera that packs quite a punch. I didn't realize that it had so many options when I made the purchase! This camera has MANY more bells and whistles than I need and although I am looking forward to learning them all I feel that it is a little overwhelming right out of the box. Don't get me wrong - right out of the box you can take a great picture even if you did not want to learn anything more about the camera and its other capabilities at all! It is very easy -- insert batteries, insert memory card, push the power button and you are ready to roll but MY GOSH the options on this little thing!

Great camera
This is my third digital camera after I dropeed my first cannon S400 in water and lost my S50 in downtown. This camera is best among the three. This one is ultra-compact, so it fits into my pocket or wife's purse easily. Pictures are crisp and clear. Flash works great. All indoor pics and night shots come nice and need no editing what so ever. When we bought this camera, it's list price was $500 and we got it for 420. Price is dropped now. So it's really good value for the money.
Image stabilization makes newest Powershot even better
This is a very impressive Powershot, and the 3'rd that I've owned (SD-300, and SD-450). As much as I've enjoyed those, this camera has gone to the next level for me with the Canon Image Stabilization technology. Have been taking a lot of pix over the month that I've owned it, and am very impressed by the overall quality of the shots.

This Camera is TERRIBLE in low light conditions
I can't believe all the people raving about this camera.All I can figure is that these are the kind of people whose idea of photography is to line the family up from tallest to smallest in the driveway on holidays and flash away.
Wonderful starter camera
For the price of $200-$300 and the quality it provides, this is an excellent camera for a beginner as well as a professional.

I love my camera.It takes awesome pictures and has lots of cool features.My favorite feature is the flash option that lets you pick one color out and it makes the rest black and white.It makes me look like a professional photographer.I would definitely recommend it to anyone!!

Canon SD630 is a BIG little camera!

A Not So Great Point-and-Shoot Camera
I'm a very experienced photographer, been published and won a few contests too. I use Canon SLR cameras, lenses and equipment which is GREAT stuff. So, when I wanted to add a professional level point-and-shoot camera the Canon Powershot S3 IS was an easy choice. It hasexcellent optics and essentially the same technology used in Canon's SLRs. So what could go wrong?

I bought Canon S3 1 month ago based on Amazon's review. But after study it and use it for more than 1 month, I am very disappointed.
Dust inside lens?
Got this camera after reading good reviews.Out of the box, I noticed there was a couple of dust particles INSIDE of the lens.I then compared it to another new S3 that a coworker purchased- she has dust particles inside her lens.Went to Walmart to have a look at their new S3- dust in that lens.What's up with that?I was hoping to just return it and get one without a dust covered lens. But no, not an option.Guess I'll pay to have it sent to Canon to have them clean it like it should have been in the first place.I encourage all to use a small flashlight aimed at an angle, and look at the inside of the second layer of glass in the lens.Or just look at it in the sunlight.Dust?

Great pocket camera
This is my 3rd Canon camera, 2nd Elph.I am the epitome of an amateur photographer, and my attempts with prosumer cameras have all failed. At the end of the day, I need a simple point and shootthat produces high-quality images that are capable of being enlarged to 16x20 photographs. The SD800 meets all of the criteria and more.
Excellent Camera
The people rating this camera low are the ones who know their stuff about photography and bought the wrong camera.If you are knowledgeable about photography, you should not be buying a point and shoot camera.This camera is amazing for the average user, the image stabilization works great and helps improve low light photos.The pictures come out very nice.The wide angle lens is nice to capture scenery, the face detection feature also seemed pretty reliable.Only downsides I saw were the scroll wheel for controls was a little slippery and the battery door seems cheap.Battery life is good, screen is big and bright.

Yesterday, I got home with my new sd800. And due to the scrutiny of the forums, I immediately had to test it. I compared exact duplicate shots from my SD550 to this "upgrade" sd800. I am very sad to say that in normal shooting conditions, this model just couldn't keep up. The main things I saw the sd800 losing horribly to the sd550 in were: picture clarity, sharpness (edge to edge) and color accuracy (the sd800's produces a very warm shot, too much yellow & red). This was a disappointment indeed when you compare the fact that my sd550 is almost a year old.

EXTREMELY FRAGILE!!!!
I have had this camera for about 3 weeks and initially it worked great. My wife was going to take a photo and dropped the camera about 3 feet onto the carpet. The LCD shows an E18 error and the camera no longer works. Before buying this camera, I highly recommend doing a search on E18 errors to see just how widespread the problem is. If dropping a camera onto the carpet is enough to disable it, it's time to look elsewhere!!!

WOW!
I just recently had a baby and we were using my husbands old Kodak DX4330 (3.1 mega pixels). After making prints we were not satisfied so we decided we needed a better but afforable camera. And after researching I found this to be the one. And I was right on! Great quality pictures! Easy to use! Awesome flip screen!! Just be sure to get a bigger memory card!

Excellent camera
I purchased this to replace the Canon A70 (another good camera) as I wanted more megapixels in order to take photos to be enlarged and have greater ability to crop.The camera is easy to use, has lots of useful "one-button" features such as for night shots, aperture priority and shutter priority.The camera can also be put in manual mode which permits manual settings and I've found to be very useful particularly for outdoor, backlit situations.

I just got my Canon A630 digital camera two days ago.I have to say that it is a gorgeous looking camera.The only difference with the A640 is in the color and obviously in the number of pixels (this last one has 10).Everything else is exactly the same and it is 100 dollars less that the A640.

S2 or H1?
When selecting a camera, I was trying to decide between Canon S2 and Sony H1.Why did I select Canon?I just can't get used to Sony's user-inteface, whereas Canon's UI is just naturally intuitive.Since then I've used it on every trip I went on.True, you can't stuff this camera in your pocket, but that's the sacrifice for gorgeous pictures that it takes.I've had no problems with it whatsoever, and I've never regretted purchasing it.Everyone who sees the photos I take comments on how vivid and colourful they turn out - and I compliment Canon on making a camera that takes such good pictures.

Poor Optics or Poor Customer Service?

Have only been playing with this for a few days, and am not by any means a serious photographer, but wanted a digital that offered more features than my low-end cameras from other manufacturers. The Canon is heavier and bigger, reminding me in good ways of my most beloved older film cameras. It's really easy to get started. This camera writes to memory MUCH faster than my others, making it far more useful for taking candid shots and the like. It "feels" right in my hands, and the controls are conveniently located for me. Review and delete functions are easy and quick. I'm still on the original batteries. The zoom is great. I'm delighted! Outstanding Performance for the Cost
I have been waiting for a new digital camera for under $150 - that didn't seem cheap or a questionable off-brand.I've owned and used several models of digital cameras, largely HP and Kodak for the last decade.In this one I wanted a camera that would interface with several different computers without difficulty (which the HPs often would not) and that did not use an unusual storage media (which the Kodaks did).
Incredable pictures, amazingly easy!
For me, the mere idea of buying a camera petrified me. I am not at all savy on this sort of technology & I was extremely worried that I would not get a good quailty easy to use camera.

Very Happy with this camera!
I bought this camera about 2 weeks ago and I'm very happy with the camera so far. It's easy to use right out of the box and the picture quality is very good.I like the 6x optical zoom and the IS really helps with the camera shake, especially when using the zoom.The movie mode is very nice as well.The camera is big enough to feel right in my hand yet small enough to easily slip into a sweatshirt pocket or purse.My twocomplaints are: the camera ships with a 16 MB SD card-which is a joke, and battery life seems fairly short. Investing in rechargables would be a good idea. I'm now using a 1 GB Ultra II SD card with great results. Overall, I'm very happy with the camera and I'm still getting to know it.

No more film for this artist.
The potential for creativity and control with this camera is astounding and a Leica lens! For the price some of the expectations in the reviewshave been a little high.This is not an SLR and should not be compared to one. Give this camera a try. Use a tripod, invest in the best photo paper and get in close. This camera will follow your lead with a very strong finish.
BIGGGG step up over the terrific FZ5 except in pixels
I loved the FZ5 but up'ed to the FZ7 not for 1 MP but the bigger LCD.To my surprise, I find the menu and button layout improved and intuitive.I can't compare this to similar Sony and Canon offerings but this camera is for sure smaller and very light. The image stab is unbelieveable..when I'm hiking at 8 to 12 K feet and stop to take a pix, I'm breathing hard and can see the viewfinder jump in time with my pulse.No prob, sqeeze off a shot at ISO 100 and the image is crisp.This should have been an 8 MP camera if Panasonic wanted to really wanted offer an "upgrade"...too bad, but for me 6 MP works.

Great trade-off camera at this price point!
I resisted providing a review of this camera for about 2 months now in order to make sure everything was as I would like it.I can now say that this camera is a great choice for those that are looking for a trade-off between ultra-compact, and long-zoom SLR.I recently took it to a Black Eyed Peas concert that was in the evening. The pictures I took at 12x zoom were really good.The large screen is perfect for sharing with friends immediately.The simple mode is good for taking most pictures, and if you like to fiddle, it's got just enough of the manual features to give you those options.It's considerably lighter than a digi-SLR, with a better form-factor (I think) than either the Canon S3 or Sony H2.I would definitely recommend. ... I am a severe novice at photography and do not know much on the subject but I really wanted to take better pictures of my boyfreind who does freetstyle motocross.I was having a hard time getting the timing down and getting a good zoom with my old camera and with this camera I have been getting some amazing pictures. At first when reading the manual I became extremely overwhelmed and scared that I made a bad decision.I still do not know what the fancy functions are and how to use them.But I did find that it is very user friendly if you just go with the automatic shooting modes. Great small camera, fantastic video,better than PowerShot SD600 and SD700
I love my FinePix F30.I know what a great camera it is because I have compared its performance against two of its most highly rated competitors.
A few other points
Other reviews are quite extensive on the F30.I just wanted to add that I discoverred that, while Fuji says you must use slow type M XD cards, the camera works fine and fast with the older plain XD cards.512MB says I have about 180 pictures to go, which is plenty for me.

not worth the money
Wish I had bought the panasonic model instead.There is nothing to write good about the picture other than it is about the same as a vhs video camera.Go with panasonic.

More on Intel Mac compatibility
Actually, the DSS Player software that comes with this recorder does work on the new Intel Macs to transfer software from the recorder to the computer via a USB connector using the "Import File" command on the file menu.It translates to a wma file automatically, but won't do the translation to mp3 on any Mac as far as I can tell.I too have discovered EasyWMA, which works fine to do the wma to mp3 translation.There's also an application called Switch that works, too.
Intel Mac Users Beware
The software that comes with the DS-2 (DSS Player) does not work on Intel Macs. They're working on a patch, but it's not expected to be out for a few months (it's late Sept 2006 now).

Good camcorder if you are not serious about editing your footage
This camcorder does capture good video. But the main drawback is that it records in MPEG2 format (DVD quality). Initially its nice and easy to capture video and watch it on your computer by downloading the files using the USB 2.0 connection. It gives you instant gratification. But after capturing 4 or 5 hours of video, you will notice that your videos aren't so great as you expect it to be. Its not the fault with your camcorder. Its because all of us shoot extra footage, unwanted scenes, shakes, etc which we want to edit. You may want to add a title or two, add transitions, add backgroud music, combine your photos with the video, etc. Basically you may want to edit your footage. Its here when you find the major drawback of this camcorder. The MPEG2 quality video is not good for editing. The video quality is so compressed that you won't have sufficient bandwidth to edit the video.
Great Camera But Be Careful with Non-OEM Replacement Batteries
First of all great Camcorder.Quality is great even in low light.Transfer to my PC is easy and quick.Overall the best camcorder I've used.

I searched for the best price on the web because I couldn't locate this camera locally.I ordered it from another company first and ran into a lot of trouble.It was a questionable company.Once I got my credit card straightened out with that company I came immediately to Amazon because I have bought so many other items from them.The camera is great.I'm so glad I can tape for so long without messing with changing the little discs every 30 minutes or so.The quality is great, too.It arrived on my birthday.What a great gift to myself.I LOVE IT! ...
