Cheap drive, esp under USB 1.1
Cute looking, and the included HotBurn software loaded smooth and has a bunch of cool-looking skins.And that's all the good I can say about this drive.It would not open the tray unless you quit the burner software (big pain for trading disks), it would lock the computer after a few burns, and if you made the mistake of starting up while the drive was powered up....! For all of that, I used it for several months.Until it stopped burning good CD-ROMs, and refused to get a good burn dispite re-install of OS, Hotburn, and trial of several different brands of media.

And HotBurn is fancy, like I said, but won't save, slows down terribly once you pass about twenty items, and has essentially NO options.And, like I say, you need to quit just to insert a fresh CD.And did I mention that when it auto-detects the burner has been powered up, it then goes on to search every bus on the computer for burners (taking about five minutes)?

Who uses CD burners anymore?
Get with the program it's all about DVD burners now.

I love it
First off. I had some of the same problems
with locking and down and crashing on my old computer.
Since I have bought a new computer with usb 2.0 ports
I have no problems. Usb 2.0 makes a huge difference.
I would not recommend using it on usb 1.1.
Your not getting full use of it this burner if you do.

I can burn a cd with nero or the hotburn software
in about 2 minutes. Hotburn software is actually a lot easier to use if you have never used it or Nero.

Overall, I highly recommend this burner to anyone with a decent computer. ... Read more

Does the job, cheap and easy!
I have an older (4 years) Dell 7500 laptop running Win 98. I wanted a flash drive to use as a cheap and easy way to do backup because I have no r/w drive. All my s/w is licensed so all I was really concerned about was backing up Word, Excel and email files. My main concern from researching many of these devices was price, durability and the ability to work with my older and slower USB port.

This product had a nice price point for the memory size, 256 meg. The 128 sized drives out there are about 40% cheaper than the 256's, but I think the doubled size is worth the extra $20-$30. The larger drives are at a premium right now with the 512 meg drives going for more than double the 256er's, and larger storage jumping even higher. It was not worth it to me. I'm sure in a year or two, even multi-gigabyte sized flash drives will be available for cheap, but I wanted it now.

Next, I was a little concerned about this brand; I'd never heard of CD Cyclone. I did a little research though, and they seemed like a reasonably dependable company.

Finally, some of the newer model flash drives gave me some concern about compatibility with my older system and USB ports.

Amazon had the best price when I factored in their free shipping program. The product arrived sooner than promised; the free shipping is supposed to take 6-9 business days and I got it in about 5 days overall.

The product comes insparse packaging with minimal documentation, the drive itself, a necklace cord, and a USB cable. Nothing else like a CD. The drive looks pretty cool, and weighs next to nothing. I popped open the cap to check that there was SOMETHING inside. (There was!)

The documentation says that newer operating systems than mine will do plug-and-play, but Win98 required downloading a small file (a driver, I guess) and rebooting before the device will be recognized. After installing the file and rebooting, it was plug-and-play instantly.

Using the drive from that point was extremely easy. It showed up on My Computer as the "E" drive, and all I had to do was drag the files I wanted onto it. It took about 30 seconds to copy about 80 megs of files. It couldn't have been simpler. Later I took the Flash Drive to a friend's computer running Win 2000, popped the drive in a USB slot, and was instantly able to read my backed up files.

It feels good knowing that if my older laptop dies or the disc crashes, I've got my files safely backed up. This was cheap and easy peace of mind.

Specifications: Like most "USB ram drives" this device is the size of the average disposable lighter and about as heavy.The interface is USB version 1.1, which means that you can expect a transfer rate of about 1.5MB a second.The ram configuration is static, which means that you cannot upgrade the drive for greater memory capacity. The drive is plug n play for Windows ME, 2000 and XP only.Other operating systems will need a driver update.

Performance: Plugging this drive into the USB port of my computer, the drive was instantly recognized and installed.Within "MY COMPUTER" it was listed as a removable drive for ME, 2000 and XP.I have not tried any other OS.

There is no special formatting necessary to get the drive to work with Windows operating systems.These drives behave as any other hard drive. Files can be written and deleted with simple drag and drop actions.Copying enough files to fill the entire 256MB of this drive took about 5 minutes, as expected.

Quality and Fit:These drives are small enough to put into your pocket, and easy to misplace as well.All manufactures offer some way secure the device to a tether and wear around the neck or on a key chain.Unfortunately, the case these devices come in are often flimsy and will likely wear out and break eventually, exposing the ram and board inside to the elements. Additionally, The cap that protects the USB connector will likely be lost within a couple of weeks.Again, this exposes the device to the elements and limits the mobility characteristics.

This drive is small enough to fit into a USB interface without an additional cable extension, though one is provided.It is a tight fit when there is another USB device next to it though.

Other issues:Because not all computers have Windows ME and up installed on them, you will need to take the driver CD with you when you take your "ram drive" out to remote locations.

It is sometimes inconvienent to plug the ram drive into USB Ports on the back of a computer.A front USB port on a computer is a welcome site.

Because the drive uses the USB 1.1 interface, the read and write speed is limited.Other drives use the USB 2.0 standard and can read and write data much faster.Above 256 Megs this becomes relevant.

Other drives have the ability to change out multiple ram cards to make the USB drive truly flexible.Those drives tend to be twice the size however.

Pros and Cons:

-USB interface available on most all computers made within the last 5 years

Beware
I had a really bad experience with this jumpdrive. My original stick gave up on me in just 4 months. It just stopped working. The replacement died from a power surge within one week. Unfortunately, Lexar doesn't replace damaged jumpdrive so I have to by a new one. From my personal experience, I highly recommend against this flash drive. You may be more lucky, though.

Crashed On Me
Had it for 4 months and it was working fine. Always safely removed it. but after 4 months it stopped being recognized as Lexar Jumpdrive and when i tried to access it it said Drive not formatted. When i formatted it, it stuck halfway and said. unable to format drive. Maybe i got a bad stick {it happens sometimes} but then i checked it out and alot of people had the same problem. Bought a Kingston DataTraveller and Sandisk Cruzer Mini, had them for over 8 months and they're working perfectly.

this is the greatest thing if you're a college student
i am currently attending a distance-learning program for my undergraduate degree and this jump drive is the handiest thing i have ever come across.i have to transport several semesters worth of work and instead of having to cart around several disks or CD's, i have 4 semesters worth of papers etc. on one jump drive! it's all in one place for me when i travel - especially handy since i no longer own a laptop computer.Also handy for when you DO have a laptop or something with mot quite enough memory on it, you can have one of these and save everything that you don't need on your hard drive to the jump drive.This product is much better than floppies or CD's.. more durable, too.

Perfect for a Writer Who Loves the Dark
If you have one of this hot new PowerBooks with the glow in the dark keyboard, then you don't need one of these, but if you are like the legions of normal men and women who can't afford to shell out thousands of dollars for a laptop, but you still want to work in the dark, because maybe you're on a plane and the movie's going, or maybe you're in bed and your spouse objects to the lights on while he/she's trying to sleep, or maybe you just like the dark, then this baby is for you. I'm one of those dark loving people, a writer of stories scary and the dark is essential for me. This little light keeps my trusty old iBook's keyboard lit up and not much else. Thing does its job well
This is a handy tool for a laptop in low light. Nice little thing...

Only thing about it is that some light escapes out the side even when pointing down.Also its not long enough for some purposes. Plus sometimes it slumps from the USB port.

A few years ago, when personal GPSs first became available, every geek from here to Poughkeepsie was enthralled about the possibility of always knowing exactly where on the planet they were. While the Garmin eTrex isn't the most feature-rich GPS out there, it will definitely come in handy if you don't want your next camping trip to end up like a scene from The Blair Witch Project.

The eTrex is sort of a dumbed-down, rugged version of the company's more advanced eMap. Designed specifically for hiking, biking, and camping, the eTrex is one of the easiest-to-use GPS units available. It offers the ability to track up to 12 satellites so you never lose contact with one. The eTrex won't work inside--however, we don't anticipate that you'll get lost inside a building very often.

Among the eTrex's notable features is its ability to calculate your current and average speed. We used the eTrex to determine the distance from work to home, and calculate how fast we were walking. This helped us gauge the average time it should take to get to work. This feature should really come in handy on extended hiking, camping, or cycling trips where planning your average speed and tracking the distance traveled is critical.

"NOT waterproof"
I have had this unit for several years and it has performed adequately.It's repeatability is usually about 30 feet.It's easy to use, but doesn't take maps.

But despite Garmin's claims, it is NOT WATERPROOF!I took it sailing, where it got splashed.Then I noticed it stopped working and there was water in the screen.When I got home, I tested it by holding it under water in my sink to see where air would bubble out from.This test showed no bubbles(leaks).Confused, I decided it must have sucked the water in through a hole somewhere.So I filled the sink with HOT water.Sure enough, as the air inside warmed up, bubbles began streaming out of a little hole built into the back of the unit.This test also proves that if this GPS is warm (like from being in the sun as you might be when you're using a GPS) and then it gets splashed with cold water (70 degrees here in FL), it will suck that water up through that little hole and destroy the GPS. To clarify, the hole is not a flaw in my unit, it is very intentionally molded in to the case.

I am extremely dissapointed in Garmin, and since they claim the unit is waterproof when it is not, I don't know how I'm going find a new one that truely is.

My advice, if your GPS is really going to get wet, is to do the hot-water test and see if it leaks air. If so, return it.

Cheap, yes-- but not a good option for geocachers
I purchased a yellow Garmin eTrex GPS about a year ago. My main reason for buying it was because I learned about the sport called 'geocaching', and, knowing little about these devices at that point, I purchased one on the advice of a couple of friends. I used it heavily for for about 5 months before coming to some conclusions about this device's capabilities.

I will first list the yellow eTrex's good points:

- It's cheap-- one of the cheapest GPS receivers you can find.
- It's easy to find-- you can buy one at Target, or at most any sporting goods store.
- It's durable. You can drop it several times or dunk it in water, and it'll still work (dry it out first before you attempt to use it again).
- It has an interface to hook up to your computer to download new firmware and to download geocaching waypoints, if you have the need for this.
- It's easy to use and very intuitive for first timers.

Now, its drawbacks. Realize that I am rating this device from the viewpoint of a geocacher, and we're probably the most demanding users of GPS receivers out there:

- It is not an accurate device if you're attempting to get a definitive lock on a waypoint within 50' of your goal. Once in the general search area, the signal will likely bounce around and give you wildly varying readings. For example, if you've entered a waypoint and get within 50' of your search area, expect to find readings bouncing around from 5-50 feet with each step you take. I used this unit in varying terrain, under varying tree/bush cover, under varying weather/cloud conditions, and in varying temperatures, with the same results. I was able to obtain two other samples of this receiver, and those tests came up with the same results, so I surmise that my eTrex wasn't just an errant sample of these receivers. Upgrading the receivers' firmware did nothing to help the accuracy.

Granted, my experiences with this receiver probably won't matter that much to most of those who will purchase this unit for tasks such as finding your way around while camping, hunting and hiking. For those uses, this unit will work just fine. However, if you're a geocacher and want a GPS unit that will pinpoint your goal effectively, without bouncing your readings from 5-50 ft. as soon as you walk two steps any direction, you will want a GPS unit that has WAAS capabilities (wide area augmentation system). I now have a GPS receiver that has WAAS, and it provides a much more stable lock when in the area of my intended goal.

In short, I found this unit to be frustrating to use for geocaching. There are other GPS units that will provide more stable signal-lock than the Garmin eTrex for close to the same price.

Perfect for ATV use!!
I bought this unit not knowing what to expect. Well it has exceded my expectations in every respect. First of all the one I just received has a newer software revision. It has WAAS and is software revision 3.10 which has a new screen which my friends with revision 2.* doesn't have. I looked on there website and they don't offer this revision for download so it must be something that just brand new usits offer. Well anyways...I use this with a program called ExpertGPS which overlays my tracked trails on an Aerial Photomap from Satellites. So cool. I can see excatly where I rode. Mine worked flawlessly in the woods. Now it is winter here and there are no leaves on the trees but I think it will work just as good in the summer. I got the bike mount and mounted the unit to my Yamaha Kodiaks handle bars. Workes great. Battery seems to last a very long time for me. I have used it a few days hours at a time and there still going. I am one very satisfied customer. Handy and dependable
I've been using this recorder for 6 months now, and I've had no problems with it. I changed batteries only once, and that was at the end of a semester's worth of voice lessons. It fits right in the palm of my hand and the design of the back makes it easy to grip with one hand (either left or right). It slips easily into a shirt or pants pocket. It's also relatively easy to use. Recording quality is good. Recording time at high quality (HQ) is around 20 mins., which fit my needs quite well. I would not have survived my voice lessons without this handy little helper!

Perfect little number
This is a supa little recording device.Very compact and easy to use.I agree that the LP mode is rather crap, but it does work for emergency long recordings (if you were say kidnapped and held in a small box and needed to record what the criminals were saying).The HQ mode is cool tho, offering 22mins of hi-quality recording time.

I mainly use it for recording ideas for tunes that I have whilst away from my Mac, so 22 mins is easily long enough.Much better than trying to remember a tune in you head until you get home.

Great size, good price. LP quality not usable
I recommend this voice recorder. The size is excellent. I carry it everywhere in my pocket and use it everyday at least once. Haven't had to change the batteries yet after 3 months of use. It's easy to use, easy to organize your recordings and will keep track of when you recorded them (date and time). It doubles as a pocket clock for those without a wristwatch.

You can even keep it by your bedside and use it at night if you have to make a note. The REC button is easy to locate and there's a small red light for when it's recording. The voice detection feature works well, too (it stops recording during periods of silence). You can turn on distinctive beeps in the menu, which could work pretty well for the visually impaired.

The reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because it claims 90 minutes of recording time at LP, when SP (33 min) and HQ (15 min?) are the only modes that produce voice recordings you can actually understand. If you think you need more than 30 minutes, go for the model with more recording time. ... Read more

Do not purchase this item
We are on our third GE/CD player and it will not work consistently.The CD often skips or does not play at all, or plays nicely for a couple of songs and then skips or stops. The radio and remote work nicely, it is the cd feature that we have found flawed.

Defective
My husband got me this for Christmas since I love listening to music.However, the volume on it started randomly changing all on its' own within a day of use.Fearing a short, we exchanged it for another one.The display on the new one stopped working by the end of the first day.The next day, the volume started messing up again!We returned it and will not be buying another one of this brand.

Defective and GE Support Non Existent
Remote was defective, didn't work from the start.Batteries got very hot.Replaced w/new ones, and they heated up immediately.Called GE Support and they said they couldn't do anything w/out serial #, even tho I had reciept, model #, etc. and volunteered to mail remote back to them.Serial # is on back of unit, and when mounted acc to GE instructions it is not visible w/out removing from cabinet (which in our case would be a major hassle).I explained this and they refused to provide any assistence, even after I appealed to several diff reps. Great for keeping track of the kids
I put these on my sons when we go shopping, If they walk off I just push the call button and walk in the direction of the call signal. My son walked away from me in a large store one day and he called me on the radio and told me where he was and I went right to him. Not too great for long range communication, but it works for what I use it for

Impossible to find battery, $$$$
I got the Audiovox wrist two way radio as a present.When I tried to recharge the battery, it wouldn't recharge.My parents tried to find a new battery.They finally wrote to Audiovox.Audiovox wrote that we could purchase the battery from them (...).The model number for the battery is GMRS2WBAT.

Same problem as the others noted below.The batteries are of outrageously poor quality and it's difficult at best to find a replacement battery anywhere other than from Audiovox.They want more for the battery than I paid for the radio itself! ... Read more

Great Little Device`
I have had my mouse and keyboard for about a year now, and so far, no problems.I still have the orginal batteries in my keyboard.
Here is a little list of things that I do not like about the keyboard and mouse:....... none.

Always precise and Drivers are Great
I've been using Logitech mice for 8 years now without a hitch and the Elite Duo is still excellent. The problem with Tracking or Skipping is ALWAYS attributed to the Transmitter location and it's very sensitive so you must experiment with location.
Once you have it down you can use it from another room and Logitech always updates & perfects their drivers. I use an Elite Duo with my Older Mouseman PS2 Ball and a Keyboard Serial touchpad not to mention the extra PS2 keyboard and have 0 problems.
Battery life could be better in the mouse but when you use it for 12h/7d/365 I guess it can be a problem. I use NIMH rechargeables and get about 3 weeks.
PS: you can easily switch hands with this mouse if you're good too.

Excellent !
I uses it for about 8 months and I only the battery once on my keyboard !! For the mouse, it uses about 2 batteries every 1.5 month. Not bad at all. I wish the LED on the mouse can be turn off sooner after idle time, it will save evern more energy. Response is great, I do not see delay at all.

One issue is on the keyboard, I wish the spring on the keys are same height as normal keyboard, so I can press deeper as I try. As I hit the key, I have to reduce my force so I do not hit the key too hard. The spring on the keys seem too light too, my fingers get tire easier on this keyboard than a normal keyboard. ...
