Editorial Review

The Envision EN-7500 is a 17-inch TFT active matrix display that offers all the high performance features you would expect from an LCD, plus it has a built-in TV tuner. 1-0 out of 5 stars Where is V-Chip?
Does this product apply under the FCC rules: As of January 1, 2000, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) required all new television sets 13 inches or larger to contain the V-chip technology. You can usually tell whether your television has a V-chip by looking at the packaging. If you no longer have the packaging, the V-chip option usually appears as part of the televisionÃ&

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Product - Great Value!
I've purchased Envision monitors in the past and have yet to be disappointed, but this product is much more than I bargained for.The cabinet is beautifully made with a rich look and a solid feel considering it uses a cast metal base. The Picture in Picture (PIP) feature allows me to work and not miss the ball game, so that's a huge plus. And on top of it, I quite often go full screen with the TV when work get's to be too much.Good solid sound from the integrated speakers and a very well designed remote control. This product was more impressive to me than the Samsung PC-TV models I reviewed in person at a local retail outlet based on the brilliant colors, smooth flowing video in TV mode, and sleek design.Well worth the investment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Increadable Product, thank you Envision.
This monitor works awsome, and now I can watch TV in the Picture in Picture, and turn on the close captioning and work away while enjoying the news, or sporting events. Combining Work, and Play, what a concept....Thanks for a great product Envision. ... Read more

Minolta Dimage 7i5MP Digital Camera w/ 7x Optical Zoom
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Electronics (03 May, 2002)
list price: $859.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

For advanced digital photographers, Minolta's large and powerful Dimage 7i offers a broad range of features and tools for any type of still photography. With a 5-megapixel resolution, images can be outputted at poster sizes. And the excellent 7x optical zoom gets you extremely close to your subjects.

It's definitely not a camera that you're going to be slipping into a pocket. The Dimage 7i is professional class in terms of both performance and size, weighing in at over a pound without batteries. That said, its heft is comfortable and can actually be handled with one hand.

The color electronic viewfinder knows when you put your eye up to it, turning itself on and turning off the bright 1.8-inch LCD, which saves on battery life and makes for a nifty party trick. It even has a diopter lens so glasses-wearing users can adjust it to their eyesight.

Captured images were downright impressive--with bright, lifelike colors, and very sharp details. The Dimage 7i sports a long list of advanced features, including a variety of movie capture modes (including low-light), a real-time histogram that lets you adjust your aperture and other settings before snapping a photo, and continuous auto-focus on moving subjects.

You might think that a camera of this level would be a bit imposing to use, but Minolta has laid out the buttons and wheels appropriately, letting you adjust between modes easily and including an LCD panel on top of the camera that keeps you informed of the settings.

It's not the kind of camera you'd want to buy your teenager for a birthday, but if you're looking for a digital camera that can hold its own against top film cameras, the Minolta Dimage 7i definitely deserves a look. --J. Curtis

4-0 out of 5 stars Dimage 7i
I have just had the camera a few days now.As for all the gadgets, its gonna take a while to pick up on all those.Right now I am using it mostly on automatic and casually venturing from that to different settings and comparing to my other digital cameras.

First, I love the 5 mp setting, the camera was very easy to pick up and start right out using .. (like most guys do)

I am impressed with the quality of the pictures.I like the fact that everything is pretty much straight forward. The camera fires up quickly.I tested it with a romote flash sorta like a fill in and it worked flawlessly. The compact flash memory cards are fairly inexpensive and small so you can have a few backups for those multi picture extravaganzas.

The one thing I would love to see addressed on the camera is the batteries... it would be nice to see minolta come with a battery, rechargable, rather than tring to keep up with two or three sets of AA s ... The instruction book... (guess I will have to read or at least review sooner or later ) looks like it covers pretty much anything you can run accross.

Would I recommend thiscamera?Yes I would but not for the inexperienced guy... when you first look at this camera... there seems to be a lot to digest... but all in all... Love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 stars doesn't say enough...
I have heard bad reviews that this particular camera eats batteries, but I have not had any problems with batteries being used up fast.My last camera, which was only 2.2 Megapixels ate batteries much faster than the Dimage 7i.The picture quality is excellent. When the camera is taking pictures in it's best quality, you can see those minute blemishes that you don't usually notice in pictures. This camera is by far the best that I have ever tried.Highly reccommended to buy if you are in the market for a 5.0+ megapixel camera.

3-0 out of 5 stars A Mixed Performer
The good:
Great zoom range. It's the only ZLR that goes as wide as 28mm (35mm equivalent).

The bad:
Very poor focusing, especially in low light.

The ugly:
More noise than you'd expect. A better alogarithm is need. A digital camera is only as good as its programming.
The electronic viewfinder is virtually useless. The low pixel count and distorted viewfinder optics do it in. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible customer support
About 6 months after I started using my SanDisk card in my Canon camera, I started to get "memory error" problems.I reformatted the card in the camera and that got things working for a few more months. Now, reformatting using the camera doesn't work.

I called SanDisk customer support and they told me I need to reformat using a card reader. Then they told me I am supposed to reformat the card twice a month using a card readder. When I told them I don't have one, they told me to go buy one, or go visit a local Staples or Office Depot and try to use theirs! Are these guys kidding???Reformat twice a month?Walk into a store and ask the sales guy if I can borrow the use of a card reader????No way!

When I insisted that SanDisk replace the card, they reluctantly agreed to do so, and even then, they said they would only replace the card this once since I failed to follow the "standard procedure" of using a card reader to reformat the card. All this over a $25 card.It would have be so much easier for them to simply offer to replace the card at the outset without all the attitude.I'm never buying SanDisk again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality Card. Period.
My Canon S410 came with a tiny stock card and I soon found the need to upgrade. This is a 4 MP camera and I set it on medium size and quality and can fit about 400 pictures on one card.
(My wife however actually finds a way to fill the whole thing in a day!) It has great compatiblity, size and dependability. As it fits in the canon, into the card reader built into my PC and has never never corrupted. The only regret I have is that I spent $40 on it at a local "Costco's" and now it's $25 at amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Device`
I have had my mouse and keyboard for about a year now, and so far, no problems.I still have the orginal batteries in my keyboard.
Here is a little list of things that I do not like about the keyboard and mouse:....... none.
Here is a list of what I like about this mouse and keyboard:............ Everything.

4-0 out of 5 stars Always precise and Drivers are Great
I've been using Logitech mice for 8 years now without a hitch and the Elite Duo is still excellent. The problem with Tracking or Skipping is ALWAYS attributed to the Transmitter location and it's very sensitive so you must experiment with location.
Once you have it down you can use it from another room and Logitech always updates & perfects their drivers. I use an Elite Duo with my Older Mouseman PS2 Ball and a Keyboard Serial touchpad not to mention the extra PS2 keyboard and have 0 problems.
Battery life could be better in the mouse but when you use it for 12h/7d/365 I guess it can be a problem. I use NIMH rechargeables and get about 3 weeks.
PS: you can easily switch hands with this mouse if you're good too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent !
I uses it for about 8 months and I only the battery once on my keyboard !! For the mouse, it uses about 2 batteries every 1.5 month. Not bad at all. I wish the LED on the mouse can be turn off sooner after idle time, it will save evern more energy. Response is great, I do not see delay at all.

One issue is on the keyboard, I wish the spring on the keys are same height as normal keyboard, so I can press deeper as I try. As I hit the key, I have to reduce my force so I do not hit the key too hard. The spring on the keys seem too light too, my fingers get tire easier on this keyboard than a normal keyboard. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I have 16 of these batteries (AA) and 4 (AAA) and they work like a charm! I use min in my GPS devices, and even took them on vacation last summer. I used 4 batteries and took over 300 digital pictures using my Olympus camera. That was zooming in and out, camera on and off and using a flash on all the photo's taken inside the submarine. Without a doubt, the best rechargeables you can buy. And cheap too. You can get an 8 pack of 2500mah at wal mart for $16 (AA). Amazon is getting to where finding a price on something takes an act of congress, you can find 9v and "C: cells at Buy.com for very little money. Just don't ever use rechargeable batteries in fire alarms or smoke detectors. Or in Pioneer Reciever remotes. Smoke my remote. And to the person who said they are fatter than standard batteries is wrong. I use these in my mini mag lights all the time! I have 2 AAA 1 AA light, as wel as 2 C cell lights.

5-0 out of 5 stars They should update the photo
I just bought this before I found it says 1200mAh in the photo. But what I got are 2500mAh ones! I've teared the pack, otherwise I would have uploaded an image...

5-0 out of 5 stars great batteries!
these batteries are great and are not that expensive. they will last you up to 1,000 charges. this is all i use. i never buy regular batteries anymore because these batteries will last a long time. it powered one of my sony atrac cd player for more than what it was supposed to last. with regular batteries, the cd player lasted as long as advertised, about 75 hours but with these batteries, it lasted about 8 more hours! if you want them to be charged quicker, they sell a 30 minute charger and it is awesome. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great performer
I use these batteries in my portable CD player, my digital camera, my electric toothbrush and my electric hair-curling brush. They are very convenient and work well. Not sure yet how long they last in the camera, but I'l be testing that in August.

They completely recharge (the little light chnages from red to green ont he charger) in about a day and half, so it's a good idea to have an extra set. It's still better (and cheaper) than buying Alkaline batteries and throwing them away.

5-0 out of 5 stars IF YOU REALLY WANT TO STILL BUY THIS........
The Energizer overnight charger (15hr) is identical to this and is still available here and in stores. No non-working led problems have been encountered with my Energizer charger as reported by others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the little price
I bought this last year (almost 1 1/2 year), and I'm very happy with the product. The only one draw back is...it'll take almost 10-12 hrs to charge a fully drained battery. I don't worry about this. I'm using this for my Electronic Toothbrush. Before this I was using some branded cells, where and which I used to charge them once in every 7 days. But now, with this Battery I'm charging once in every 20-22 days, i.e., the life of this battery is almost 3 times than the 'Branded' ones. I'm also using for my Camera (35mm), and for Radio, and haven't faced any problems with this. I love this Product, and I highly recommend this. ... Read more

Philips MC50 3-CD Changer Micro System
Average Customer Review: 3.5 out of 5 stars
Electronics
list price: $149.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Looking for a compact hi-fi system with full-range features? The Philips MC-5037 is perfect for bedroom, office, and living room. This three-CD, 25-watts-per-channel system incorporates Incredible Surround, bass-reflex speakers, a digital FM-AM tuner, and a single-well cassette deck. The system also sports a dedicated subwoofer output.

The attractive, wood-finished speakers use 5.25-inch flat-metal cones and dome tweeters for exceptional quality. Traditional woofers use treated paper cones; flat-metal cone woofers are made of aluminum alloy, which is stiffer and lighter. Also, the speaker grilles may be removed. The system's dedicated subwoofer output lets you use a powered subwoofer for extra low-end heft. When activated, Incredible Sound produces a dramatic increase in stereo width and presence.

The system also offers independent bass and treble controls and an optical digital-audio output for hooking up a CD or minidisc recorder. A digital tuner with 40 presets lets you enjoy all your favorite stations, and the auto-reverse, logic tape deck allows you to listen or record favorite music. The MC5037 comes with a convenient remote control. Philips covers the set under warranty for 12 months (parts and labor). ... Read more

very disappointed...the cd tray broke within the 1st month of use & Amazon.com was no help in getting it fixed...

3-0 out of 5 stars Great sound - horrible set-up and instructions
I bought this for my elderly father (87).I set the unit up for him, but the manual was so confusing I had to call Phillips for help. The manual that comes with the MC-50 is for THREE separate stereos, so trying to figure out which instructions pertains to the MC-50 and which do not is difficult. The buttons on the remote are confusing; the labels are not in the right places.
The sound quality is good, however, the cd-changers clang away which I found quite annoying. In the past I've liked Phillips products, but if this unit had been for myself, I would have returned it. ... Read more

As everyone can see, the digital world is right before us, I am buyng this for all of my friends and family with GameBoys, including the new GBA(s), which it plays on as well! This is a no brainer, removable memory and all. Love it. Why wait until the world catches up with all the cool and unique music download experiences availble to us. What a great price, I understand it be even less expensive in the near future.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I read some of the reveiews and I'm not sure if people who are giving this a bad review have really used this product. With SongPro, you can extend the platform of a device you already have for under $100, and they're being sold for a great price in my opinion to do that. This holds up to ONE GIG of music, people are saying only 10-12 songs and that's a lie, do the math. This product is great, you can read the lyrics to the songs and have a little mini-kaorake machine. The price of the ipod is more costly with the same quality of music.Buy this product where you can try it out and see for yourself. You'll love it. ... Read more

Game Boy Advance SP - Platinum
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Video Game (23 March, 2003)
list price: $99.99 -- our price: $99.99
(price subject to change: see help)
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Early Adopters Pick: March 2003. As theworld's smallest video-game platform, the Game Boy Advance SP is also the first to use a built-in rechargeable battery.

Many decried the original Game Boy Advance's reflective LCD screen and its reliance on external light sources. The Game Boy Advance SP's main feature--optional backlighting--fixes this complaint nicely, but it's the wealth of other features that makes this system so surprisingly good.

At first look, you might think the SP is a sleek travel alarm clock. When closed, it's just as tall and deep as the original GBA, but only half as wide. Due to its clamshell design, the screen is always protected from everyday scratches. A small button in the center of the console turns on the backlighting element for use in low-light situations, like in a moving car.

Game Boy Advance angle diagram The SP comes with a well-designed power adapter that recharges a built-in battery; its prongs fold in for easier storage. Our informal tests found that it takes about four hours to fully charge (you can even play it while it's plugged in and charging), and the battery lasts about 11 hours with the backlighting constantly on--your results may vary. Using the backlighting less often will conserve battery power.

Withseparately soldcables, you can connect the Game Boy Advance SP to other GBAsfor multiplayer gaming (above) or to theNintendo GameCube(below) to access secret levels, exchange data, or use other specialfeatures that vary from game to game.
The quality of the backlighting is very good. It's bright and clear when looking directly at it, but degraded from other angles. This is only a problem for friends who are watching the screen from over your shoulder.

But size, power, and affordability do not come without trade offs. There's no headphone jack here, though Nintendo promises an adapter. The system isn't very loud at its highest volume, and the sound can be turned down to socially acceptable levels. The L and R shoulder buttons are a fraction of the size they were on the GBA, and thus are harder to hit. Also, the reduced size of the SP is slightly less comfortable for adult hands than the GBA, but perhaps more comfortable for smaller hands. The cartridge port placement on the lower part of the console is fine for GBA games, since they are flush with the console body, but older Game Boy Color carts will stick out in a way that takes some getting used to.

Open it up and the hinge will seek out a preferred, pre-set angle (about 150 degrees), though you can open it a bit wider or narrower for your own comfort. The hinge stands up well to lateral pressure, and over all, the SP seems just as rugged as its predecessor--which has proven to be very rugged, indeed. --Porter B. Hall

4-0 out of 5 stars WORTH BUYING???????
The GameBoy SP has it's ups and downs. I like that the price droped to $79.95 or whatever it was. There is one thing I hate about the SP, there arnt that many good games for the thing. There are some I like, like Mario and Metrod. Another thing is that it's not that different frome the GBA. I LOVE THE LIGHT, I DON'T KNOW HOW I LIVED WITH NO LIGHT ON THE GBA. I once bought the GBA SP at GameSpot and I loved it, it kept me happy for a long time but it got boring and I sold it back to GameSpot. But if your into the GBA's and that other Nintendo stuff ye'll love the GBA SP.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Travel Buddy
Can't complain about the price since I bought the original Gameboy over 10 years ago for close to the same amount.

Pros:
Small dimensions...you can fit it anywhere (pocket, purse, etc.)
Very light weight
Folding design protects the screen from scratches/damage
Able to revive/play my original Gameboy games
Rechargable battery lets you save money on buying batteries
Rechargable battery actually lasts quite a while
Given a light on/off option to save batteries
Lots of really useful accessories in the market--best one I purchased is the AC/DC/Car Adapter
Lights indicate "fully charged" and "low battery"

PERFECT for traveling!

Cons:
Didn't come with a game
Ports in the rear are unprotected (uncovered)
A little too smooth design...makes it slippery
Games are expensive (typical...3-4 games = game console)
Headphone jack should have been a given (Why the adapter?)
Original adapter should have been dual voltage (after all, the GBA is designed for travelling, isn't it?)

Wishful thinking:
Protective rubber around it for shock-proofing and better grip
Adjustable light levels

4-0 out of 5 stars Much Better Than Gameboy Color!
It's great that they keep improving gameboys! Last year i saved up my money and bought a gameboy, and boy have they improved! If u buy one the screen is lights up, better quality, and smaller games! I highly reccomend it! :) ... Read more
