2-0 out of 5 stars Leaves black marks on camera
I bought the case to carry a new Powershot SD110 Digital Elph camera. The case fits the camera well. It's simply constructed, there's a belt loop on the back, an opening on the flap to loop the string handle (which comes with the camera), and a velcro fastening closes the flap.

But, after having my camera stored in the case for two months, I've noticed black marks on the silver exterior of the camera.I don't use my camera often, it's sat in my desk drawer for the most of the past two months and I've only taken it out to take the occasional pictures of my cats. The black marks do not come off, I've tried to scrub at them with soap and hot water. How disappointing.

The case does fit the SD110 model well, but the downsides are that it left blemishes on the camera exterior.Other cons: there are no pockets for extra memory cards.I had the first generation Elph about four years ago with the Canon case, a grey colored, fabric case. The case was great because there was a zippered pocket in the front for extra memory and battery. And, the older case left no marks on the camera itself.

Get the case if you want something cheap and serviceable, but watch out for blemishes on your camera.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and perfect fit for my S500
Great quality case and perfect fit for my S500. Don't expect extra pockets for accessories. The case is not for those.

5-0 out of 5 stars A convenient case with reasonable price
I bought this case for my Canon S410. It fits my camera perfectly. Iam pleased with its shape and quality. If you need a compact case to protect your camera, I honestly recommend you to choose it. If you want to put everything in the case, you should be better get a bag.

5-0 out of 5 stars Works well, Durable, Can Take a Beating
I bought the SD110 camera, and since I live in Hawaii, I HAD to have the underwater housing for it.This housing is great, because it allows you to use all the function buttons while the camera is protected in the housing.

You can power up the camera, shoot, zoom, change modes and do everything but change the battery, change the memory card and upload your pics onto a computer while the camera is sealed up.

I was able to take lots and lots of underwater and surf pictures and movies with this camera. And I was very happy with the results.

I treat my gear pretty rough, I was in the water almost every day, not cleaning it all the time and although the housing did get scratched and a little banged up, it still worked great, and it didn't affect the quality of my photos.

Then one day while rescuing a swimmer in distress, the camera was knocked off my kayak into the ocean.I went back a few minutes later to search for it.But was unable to find it....I was really bummed.

Four months later, a friend of a friend is diving in the same area that I lost the camera, and saw something wedged in the reef, encrusted with coral and alge.He pulled it out and took it back up on the boat-it was a digital camera in the housing. When he opened up the housing and took out the camera.....it powered right up !!!!

So he took a few shots on the boat and then took the camera home.He showed it to his friend, and they flipped through the pictures as he told him the story of finding it.One of the pictures that I had taken on the day I lost it, was an underwater self portrait. When my friend saw that: he knew who's camera it was !!!

So he calls me...and tells me the story.I was amazed. We figured that the camera and housing had been lying on the bottom for four months in over twenty feet of water, and there had been a few storms that had produced some very large surf in that area, so it had likely taken a beating. But it still maintained its water tight integrity. We were all very amazed at how durable it turned out to be !!

I had already replaced the camera with the Canon S500 and it's dedicated housing (mostly so I could get higher resolution photos). After uploading the photos onto my computer, I let the guy who found it keep it.He has cleaned up the housing, and it stays still water tight, the only thing wrong with it (besides a little surface crud on the exterior of the casing), is that a few of the buttons are jammed and so they do not work (the zoom, shtter and power buttons are fine). But not bad at all for a camera that had been on the bottom of the ocean for several months. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars S......L.......O.......Wto write but read is great
I'm using the viking 256MB for a Palm T|T.It takes for ever to write such a 1MB file will take over 5 minutes.I've had to cancel saving MP3 files (~5MB) on the card since I couldn't wait after 10 minutes. You get what you pay for. However, I gave it an average rating since the reading capability is definitely faster. So if cost is a factor and you don't mind waiting then get this before the rebate is over.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent for the price
This is a great :Value for money card- I am using it with my Canon Powershot A510 and it is slightly slow but nothing that I didnt expect. Decent read and write speed and good storage capability!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a good SD card with a great price.
At first, I am skeptical with the brand since I'm usually using SD card made by either SanDisk or Lexar. But it turned out this brand work quite well. I am using this SD card for my Canon SD110. Already a good price after 75% off, plus $16 mail-in-rebate. No complain. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FINALLY
I have looked everywhere for this charger.Everywhere in town wants me to buy something else that MIGHT work.It was great to finally find the actual charger that comes with the camera. It's just the right size and plugs right into the wall. The prongs fold down and can fit nicely in a carry-on bag.THANKS so much for having this item available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Charger
This is indeed what comes with the camera, and it works great. It charges batteries quickly and is amazingly compact. The prongs even fold down so it is about the size of a deck of cards. It is simple and functional.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointment with J&R Music World
I did not realize that the Canon digital camera that I ordered through Amazon came with its own battery charger.I attempted to contact J&R Music World to get a return authorization, and after many phone attempts, I gave up.No one would answer their customer service phone.I then attempted to get this authorization via their web site (as they recommended), and I sent them all pertinent details with the return authorization request. They ignored my E-mail and never responded.I will never buy another item from them.I am now stuck with an unneeded battery charger and out the $44.78 charged by them. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Don't confuse the DC coupler for battery
I guess the reason for using a DC coupler in same slot as the battery pack is to save space, although it would be more convenient to have it built-in to the camera so I don't need to take out the battery when connecting it to AC.Other than that the AC adapter kit works great for me.I just followed the instructions on Using an AC Adapter Kit in the appendices of my SD100 user guide.

2-0 out of 5 stars If you use SanDisk SD memory cards beware!!!!
I bought the Viking Intelliflash 6-in-1 USB Flash Memory Reader with the hopes of being able to save battery life on a digital camera. However, on trying an SD memory card from a camcorder I have, it ruined the card and said "files corrupted" and I lost all the pics.I read some of the other reviews and realised the problem lied with the SanDisk memory card I used.

I later tried a Kingston Memory Card I had bought for the digital camera and it worked fine.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't even think about buying this!
This is a piece of junk.

The first time I inserted a smart media card, the card went all the way into the unit.To get it out, I had to call customer support who told me how to disassemble the unit so that I could extract it.Great start!

It does not consistently read CF cards.

Bottom line-stay away.

1-0 out of 5 stars Corrupted first disk I tried
I tried this the first time with a brand new SD bought on vacation - could see pictures fine on camera but when used this Viking memory reader said disk and files corrupted. Was able to retrieve all but first five photos fortunately - unfortunately one of the five photos was a precious one that cannot be retrieved that was the main reason for the trip (daughter and father dancing). ... Ceiva Digital Photo Receiver
Average Customer Review: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Electronics (24 March, 2000)
list price: $149.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Ceiva put the future in an unassuming black picture frame with this amazingly simple yet innovative product. This Internet-enabled frame makes it so easy to receive and display digital photos that even the most tech-shy relatives will love it. The traditional frame houses an LCD screen that displays up to 20 pictures in a single-view or slide-show format. Once a day, the frame dials in to Ceiva's Web site and downloads any new photos that have been sent to you (or that you've uploaded). What's truly amazing is that it works flawlessly--it's a cutting-edge technology idea that's well executed.

The frame itself is a handsome classic black with a black matte. It's about the size of a standard 8-by-10-inch frame, and the viewing area is about 5 by 7 inches. The display resolution is 640 x 480 VGA, and the images are displayed as JPEGs. We were impressed with the picture quality, especially considering the display is passive matrix--colors were a bit washed out, but otherwise pictures were sharp, bright, and looked good. The viewing angle isn't great--you won't be able to see pictures well from the side--but overall, the screen worked very well, even in relatively bright light.

You do the bulk of your setup online at Ceiva's Web site. Here, you can lock, delete, upload, or send photos, and you can adjust the rest of your settings, such as the slide-show interval or the time the Ceiva turns off the display every night. (The standard setting shuts it off from 12 a.m. to 4 a.m.) Within your account, you can choose who can send pictures to you (your "Buddy list"). Your buddies don't need to own Ceiva photo frames, but they have to get Ceiva accounts, which are free. In addition to photos, you and your friends can send and receive any kind of digital image, from hand-drawn cards to scanned art. Subscription channels even let you get comics, weather and traffic reports, and horoscopes on a daily basis. Ceiva's site also provides simple tools to add messages to your photos.

The controls on the Ceiva are extremely easy to use--there is one button that adjusts brightness and another button to stop the slide show and dial-up on demand. If you want to download pictures immediately (for instance, right after your mother calls and tells you she just sent a new batch), you press and hold the settings button on the frame until it connects.

You don't need an extra telephone line to use the Ceiva--the photo frame uses your existing line for just a few minutes every night. Ceiva provides a Y-connector in the box to make it easy for you to plug the frame into your phone jack without disconnecting your phone. The photo frame also doesn't require you to have an Internet connection to download photos, although a subscription is required to download photos. The subscription costs $79.95 per year to maintain this service via a local connection, and multi-year plans are available starting at less than $5 a month. However, if you want to upload pictures, send them to other people's Ceivas, or modify certain frame settings, you'll need to use an Internet connection.

Overall, our experience using the Ceiva was simply wonderful. It's intended to be simple to use, and it does a great job receiving and displaying photos. It strikes us as the perfect gift for your mom and dad, your grandparents, or any long-distance friend who is computer-shy. Not to mention that the Ceiva photo frame is just plain cool! --Michael Lewis

1-0 out of 5 stars Concept is nice, website and customer service is crap
I have a frame that I bought for my Grandmother, but due to where she lives it was very difficult to get the frame to connect on a daily basis without resorting to toll calls.I have repeatedly tried to get them to stop renewing my account with out any success. My final solution was to call the credit card company and block any future charges.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful for grandparents
I'm disappointed to see that so many people have negative things to say about the Ceiva.

I purchased one for my wife's parents 2 years ago as a Christmas gift, together with the service.I set it up and tested it at my house before shipping it off to them, so they had to do nothing to get it set up.

The non-technical in-laws got it set up without a problem and enjoyed the pictures right away.I send new pictures every week or two as we take them.

At one point during the last year, the power adapter died and they were able to get a new one from Ceiva at no cost.I didn't realize they had a problem until 6 months after it occured; I'm not sure if they had to put up with bad customer service, but I didn't hear my father-in-law complain (and he'll always be the first person to complain about customer service!)

The product is everything we wanted it to be.Initially uploading photos was a bit of a pain, but Ceiva made a client program that lets you add captions & crop and make the photo upload process much easier.

I highly recommend this product for anybody who wants to share pictures with family, especially family members who either don't have a computer, or want to have something that is always showing pictures.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Great Idea but zero support
A wonderful idea, and when it works it is really neat. But I had a heck of a time setting it up, had to throw out a perfectly good digital phone (it won't work with a digital phone anywhere in the house, Uiden and Vtech are hybrid digital, beware) and it took forever to get it to connect to the local phone line.

Support is non-existent, I've sent three e-mails and never a response.Phone call (not an 800 number) take over a 1/2 hour to answer and you will be as knowledgeable as the tech support goof they connect you with.Frustrating.

I love the idea, but they mislead you on the cost of the contract, which is way too expensive for the lousy service.

It was a gift that has so far cost me $220 ($100 phone and $120 subscription service).

Again, a great idea and a real pleasure while it works. But don't buy one for your parents or grandparents. When mine craps out that will be the end of it, I've never been this fed up with a company as I am with Ceiva. ... Read more

It also incorporates a 3.2x digital zoom for a total 6.4x zoom. The PowerShot SD100 also features Canon's nine-point AiAF system for focusing accuracy, shutter speeds of 15 to 1/1,500 second, and fast sequence shooting at a rate of 2.2 frames per second (fps).

Movie Mode
In addition to taking still photos, the SD100 can also record up to 3 minutes of video with sound. It has three resolution settings: 640 x 480 (VGA), 320 x 240, and 160 x 120. 5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous little camera!
I have many cameras, and use a Nikon DSLR.But for Point and Shoot, CANON RULES!

This is now an older model, and I just got one new, they are still around if you look.

I just love it.I wish it used CF cards like my other cameras but it uses the SD card.I would get a minimum of 256mb.And get a spare battery.

I have 5 digital cameras now, all for different reasons. This little jewel is now my carry around camera. And I just love it.

Canon software for it's point and shoots is the best on the market (of software tha comes with camera).

If you need "better software", get Photoshop ELements for about $100.This is also best of breed.

This thing is sooooo small and cute. And it's easy to use.Pictures are GREAT.The in camera EXIF processing of image is great, and for snapshots, all I have to do is crop them sometimes...no other tweaking of image is needed.

Love it!Highly recommeded!

5-0 out of 5 stars A solid little workhorse!
But to say that does not do it justice! This takes great shots, clear and well lit. It has a simple set up and is a compact and sexy little number. Very easy to get used to in all respects and a tough little cookie!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For Snapshots, Simple.
This camera is extremely stylish and compact.Great for snapshots and other pictures of friends and things like that, but if you plan on taking lots of pictures of sporting events or nature, go with a camera with better optical zoom.Other than the zoom, the feature-set is simple and straightforward, perfect for someone who just wants pictures without the fuss. ...
