Soft, friendly, and ready for cuddling, this 36-inch Regis Pupis sure to find a place in anyone's menagerie. Filled with fluff forcomfort and heft, this tan dog wears a forlorn expression but has brighteyes for its friends. He's not machine washable, but most stains willsponge right out. Although Regis is fairly durable, he will show wearafter a few months of continuous rough play, so take it easy on the bigguy. --Rob Lightner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute, Soft, and lovable!
Our then 4 year-old son received this for Christimas last year. He loved it from the minute he saw it, and still does. He sometimes uses it as a pillow when he sleeps, he lays on it when he reads, and he complains to it about the injustices of our household rules. It is soft, huge, as beautiful as the day he got it, and a great listener! A kid's best friend!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my big puppy!
If your thinking about buying this, I totally sugest you do. My boyfriend bought it for me for my birthday, and i love it to death. It makes me think of him all the time, and it's so adorable! Although it does shed alot, it's my favorite stuffed animal ever! I think this puppy makes the perfect gift for your girlfriends guys, and it's also perfect for little kids, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lauren's Big Doggy
My 10 yr. old daughter received what she named her "Big Doggy" for Christmas last year.Although it was huge, she took it everywhere. It made the perfect pillow for watching TV and it also made the perfect stuffed animal to sleep with...or to sleep under!I think that this stuffed animal was the best investment for the sheer pleasure and comfort that my daughter got out of it.Sadly, my daughter passed away earlier this year and the first thing we thought of to include at her service was Big Doggy.Needless to say, it's a very special stuffed animal that we will long treasure. Now it has it's special place on her bed...it's almost large enough to cover the entire bed, actually.A wonderful gift for anyone who likes to snuggle and cuddle with a stuffed animal. ... RCA CC9370 AutoShot Compact Digital Camcorder

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Whether you're planning to shoot the next independent film hit or simply record your vacation, RCA's CC9370 AutoShot compact digital camcorder has the quality and features to make your movies look their best. A 680,000-pixel CCD delivers outstanding resolution, and with the swiveling 3-inch color LCD monitor, the camcorder can be operated from any angle. A 10x optical/250x digital zoom lens brings distant scenes closer, and the built-in image stabilization helps to keep the shakes out of your recording.

In addition to the camcorder features, the RCA can also function as a digital still camera. The still images are stored on the digital videotape and can be downloaded onto your PC via the provided serial cable. The 640 x 480 image resolution, though low by current digital camera standards, is perfect for photos you'll be e-mailing or posting on the Web.

To keep your videos lively, the camcorder offers a large selection of digital effects and scene transitions. Exercise your creativity with effects like classic film, strobe, slow shutter, black and white, and many more. A random-assemble editing feature provides an eight-scene memory for favorite scenes as well as the ability to add special effects. The camera also includes playback zoom for enhanced viewing.

Like most digital camcorders, the RCA includes an IEEE 1394 port and cable for communication with computers and editing devices. In addition, the camera connects to TVs via standard analog AV connectors or S-video connectors. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars CC9370 same as CC9360
FYI, the two cameras the RCA 9360 and RCA 9370 are the same, only the 9370 comes with a battery charger (A cost saving idea). Causes some grief because with the 9360, you actually use the camera as a battery charger. Not really obvious. It is also important to remove the battery if you are not using the camera (you can charge the battery and forget to remove it, and it will be dead when you need it). Recommend buying a battery charger for the 9360.
I really like the camera. It has a lot of abilities. I use Pinnacle studio, and it works great. Had a problem with Ulead, it doesn't seem to work - The camera doesn't connect. Once the Pinnacle downloaded the movie, it was simply amazing. Of course, then you are in another world of editing. Wow. Then, you get to buy a bigger hard drive and DVDs, etc, etc. Expensive, but totally wonderful.
I also got a Panasonic digital video camera at the same time - It is really wonderful, too, but has no video light. The RCA requires you to then figure out how to work on a movie with a video light, but with the Panasonic, you need to stop.
The manual for the CC9370 can be used for the CC9360, and the 9370 manual is available on Amazon at:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004Z583/104-4032710-9364765?v=glance
Thanks Amazon...
Do a google search for the 9370 or 9360 by searching "rca cc9370 manual", to find batteries, the manual, and accessories.
I think it is great.
Using the firewire with the RCA camcorder was a learning experience also. If I remember correctly, there was a $50 firewire cable available, but then I found a firewire card at FRYs in Anaheim with a free cable for $20 on sale. Using the cheapo cable, I was able to do my movies. What fun. Was using my HP laptop with no built-in firewire, but with a firewire card stuck into it. Then USB 2 came around, and ruined it for the firewire guys, but the camera has a firewire port anyhow, so use it. Gotta get with it, guys, you don't want to get lost. Buy, buy, buy.
Anyhow, just want to say that the RCA camera is really a great unit, and I have had a lot of fun with it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value and Features
I picked this camcorder up for a song.I've had it 3 years now and it still has not given me any problems. It is solid for the light use I give it without sacrificing quality.
I have yet to be disappointed by anything other than the still photo function. No built in memory makes for a weird playback sensation as a still shot stops the video and then fades from a still shot to the moving video again. My recommendation is to use this as a dedicated video camera and buy a good still camera.
All in all, this camera has been a good buy.I have used it in the Caribbean, Europe, Canada and across the USA with none of the pesky dew problems panasonic has or the mechanism problems of the jvc.

1-0 out of 5 stars Make sure there is a battery
I just got one of these camcorders off of this same site. When I got the camera there was no battery pack and or charger. its been about six months and I still cant find one anywhere not even on this site. Ive wasted about a hundred dollers on differnt chargers that dont even work. now the camera sits in my room with no use to it because I cant find a battery. also its to late to return it so now im stuck...... ...............THANKS TO WHO EVER I BOUGHT THIS FROM ... Spiritual Machines

Audio CD (13 March, 2001)

Editorial Review

While Spiritual Machines is not strictly a concept record, much of the CD's lyrics were inspired by the Ray Kurzweil's book The Age of Spiritual Machines: When Computers Exceed Human Intelligence. That explains the spoken-word bits--performed by Mr. Kurzweil himself--between some songs, as well as the general themes of spirituality, and technology versus humanity, that permeate the music and lyrics. "Are You Sad?" is soaring, layered, and almost churchlike, while "Middle of Yesterday" is a cool cut with dynamic, machinelike musicality matched with an acoustic warmth. "Life," with its nearly a cappella intro moving into gently chiming musicality and spare drums, is another dramatic (but notoverblown) entry in an album that's sure to garner fan adulation for itsdiverse intensity. Nonetheless,Spirtual Machines is an accomplished, creative, and fully realized effort from this gratifying, nearly decade-old Canadian lineup.--Katherine Turman ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Radiohead? Please...
Our Lady Peace has 5 stand-alone records and in my opinion "Spiritual Machines" is their greatest.
I've been a fan of OLP since the release of their debut, Naveed. And through the years they havent really changed that much at all and IMO the reason for this is because OLP has no certain style. Their genre is their own. If you're a newcomer to OLP and you want to know just what they sound like...I'm sorry but i can't tell you because i cannot think of a comparison (btw to compare OLP to radiohead is a blasphemy worthy of death).
Almost every song on this CD is good, a few standout tracks are "Right Behind You", "Life", "Are You Sad" (A personal favorite), and "The Wonderful Future". But like I said ALMOST every song is good. No matter how hard I try I just cant listen to "Middle of Yesterday"...it just seems like such a stupid and redundant song to me. Great CD though...GO BUY IT!

2-0 out of 5 stars OLP's flacid version of "OK Computer"
Well, looking at all the five-star reviews already posted, I know I'm in for a real lambasting from die-hard OLP fans, but I have to be honest... I've listened to this album about 3 or 4 times already and I have to say that it is WAAAAY overrated. This is a fairly middling album with lofty, pretentious ambitions that just doesn't hold together. It's a boring album with weak vocals and unimaginative instrumentation and compositions. There, I said it!

Look, I consider myself a fan of OLP.NOT a die-hard, blind-love type of fan, but a fan nonetheless.I thought their first CD, NAVEED, was one of the great, underrated albums of the '90s.Unfortunately, they seem to have gone downhill from there.CLUMSY was a bit of a sophomore slump (but still good), while their third may have been their "Jump the Shark" moment--it has a few good songs, but is saddled with the worst album title in years (HAPPINESS IS A FISH THAT YOU CAN'T CATCH), along with one of the worst song titles ever ("Potato Girl").Next up is SPIRITUAL MACHINES.

I don't care if they based this on a book or not--it still was released in the post-OK COMPUTER world and invariably suffers in comparison. The spoken word bits in between songs are just plain silly, while the songs themselves are monotonous, with few standouts ("Are You Sad?" being an exception).Sorry, OLP-heads, but Rayne is NOT a great singer. He hasn't much range, and every song is delivered almost exactly the same--high, whiney and nasally. This type of delivery was a novelty upon their first release, which made it stand out, but it's painfully obvious that the guy doesn't have any more tricks up his sleeve. On this album, he's just plain grating and unmoving (I'm sure his female fans think he's just dreeeeamy, of course).

Take it from someone who's a little more level-headed about Our Lady Peace... I have yet to listen to GRAVITY or LIVE, but out of their first four albums, SPIRITUAL MACHINES is DEFINITELY their weakest effort.

4-0 out of 5 stars Don't listen to the radio...
With this album and the bands latest release, Gravity, the band has released the WORST songs on the album as singles.I held off on buying this album for YEARS because I absolutley despised the songs that I was hearing on the radio.I'm very cynical of the new music industry, and with songs like "Life" and "Mafia", even Our Lady Peace had managed to fall victim to my pessimism.

I realize that this is almost cliche, but a friend played the album for me and I was... shocked.I heard "The Wonderful Future" and left to buy the album. To this day, I still skip tracks 2 and 5, which is why the album gets a four.Normally, for having to skip two songs, I'd give an album three stars, but the rest of the album MORE than makes up for the bands lack of judgement on the aforementioned radio staples.Good job guys. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars For the Money this is a Great Set.
I bought a 32" Philips Magnavox (TS3260C - see review) and found the TV to excel in everything that matters: Picture, Sound and Ease of Use.However, It was just to darn big for my townhouse. But I was sold on Philips Magnavox.I bought this 27" unit and found the size to be just right for a small living room and the quality of picture and ease of use about the same - very good. The sound is good but not up to the 32" level but then the price was about [price]less. I have had NO problems with the set. Recommended.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay after repair
I was disappointed when I first turned it on and heard a buzzing sound coming out of the back.It comes with 90 day labor so I called the local Philips repair center. The repairman said the rear deflectors vibrate on all Philips TVs, especially this model. His fix was to glue them in place---which worked!

As for the picture quality, I can't tell since I don't have a DVD player. TV and VCR signals are pretty noisy to begin with.I tried hooking my computer up to it via the svideo port, but the picture quality was awful and gave me a headache after a few minutes of use.If you are a quality fanatic, note that this is a "Comb Filter" model, which supports 600 lines of resolution, not a "Digital Comb Filter" which supports 800 lines.

The universal remote can control my cable box, but, as others have noted, the Philips remote is awkward so I use the cable remote. PIP and other channel features are useless because the TV channel is always on channel 3 for the cable box.

The sound leveler is not very useful---it just reduces the dynamic range of the sound. No settings beyond on or off.Doesn't do anything fancy like detect commercials.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Television for Movies & DVD's
This television also replaced a Zenith 27" color television that was put to rest after a houseguest watered my hanging plant over the back of the television-you can guess what happened. Anyway this Philips television plays dvd movies and cable tv movies with a great picture and sound. But it seems the reds are more like pinks, and the color does not stay the same from channel to channel. But I can live with it. ... Read more

Philips DSR6000R DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo Service
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Electronics (28 November, 2000)
list price: $299.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

While you probably have one or more personal computers and may own a personal digital assistant, you might not know about personal digital video recorders, or DVRs. Well, all that's about to change, because DVRs are reshaping TV in a big way.

At their most basic, DVRs are glorified VCRs, but instead of storing audio and video on magnetic tape, they digitally record and store TV programs onto a hard disk drive, like a computer (but with much better resolution than those video clips that people sometimes send as e-mail attachments). The Philips DSR6000 DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo Service represents a new generation of DVR, combining AV recording services with duty as a DIRECTV satellite receiver, delivering up to 225 channels and special pay-per-view programs. It also uses TiVo proprietary software and services, which it downloads over an analog phone line.

The DSR6000 houses a massive, 40 GB hard drive that stores up to 35 hours of audio and video. You'll need a satellite dish to get started, in addition to your TV and the equipment supplied with the DSR6000. The DSR6000 is equipped with two satellite inputs, each compatible with DIRECTV. Only the first input is currently usable, but that's about to change.

If you don't already have a DIRECTV satellite dish (as you would if you were upgrading from an older DIRECTV receiver or buying the DSR6000 for use in another room), we strongly recommend you purchase a DIRECTV satellite dish with dual LNB capability. Dual LNB simply refers to the number of different signals a dish can send to your audio-video equipment. A dual LNB dish has two jacks or connectors inside the arm extending from the dish, while a single LNB, for example, has just one.

If you currently have a single LNB DIRECTV dish and want access to these changes as soon as they become available, an authorized installer can upgrade your dish (please call DIRECTV for more information at 1-800-347-3288 or visit them online at www.directv.com). If you don't know what LNB format you have, we recommend checking with an authorized installer, as you can't determine the LNB format by counting the number of arms pointing back to the dish.

You'll also need an analog phone jack to receive TiVo's services and to transfer data to the DSR6000. A 50-foot RJ-11 phone cord and telephone line splitter are included, so the receiver can share a single wall jack with a phone, if needed.

The DSR6000 automatically makes a daily call to TiVo at no cost to you. This call won't interrupt your phone calls or Internet connection, and the receiver is compatible with Call Waiting, Voice Messaging, and Caller ID. However, it's important to note that the DSR6000 must never be connected to a digital PBX phone system. Doing so may permanently damage the modem. It also voids your warranty.

Out of the box and in your hands, you'll immediately notice the substantial weight of the DSR6000; it's clearly built for performance. A robust "jack pack" lets you connect your TV and a range of audio-video components with this receiver, including a VCR, DVD player, and/or a game center.

Audio-video connections include an S-video output (cable supplied) and an optical digital-audio output (cable not included) for state-of-the-art video and audio. Two analog-audio stereo and composite-video outputs (cables supplied) offer extended connectivity with conventional equipment, while infrared (IR) and serial outputs are offered for future upgrades. An RF (CATV) output with channel switch (cable included) and a VHF/UHF input (for an antenna or an older VCR) complete the package.

Worried that the resolution of the TiVo storage will compromise the quality of your recordings? Don't be. Unlike a VCR, the DSR6000 gives you exactly what you put in. That's because the video signal from DIRECTV is digital, allowing the DSR6000 to write the satellite signal's ones and zeros directly to its hard drive. In addition, the DSR6000--like DIRECTV--is Dolby Digital and Dolby Pro Logic compatible so you can enjoy your TV in surround sound when you route the audio output to your surround receiver.

The Philips DSR6000 also offers software programming and graphical user interfaces (GUIs). It's the first DVR to bring TiVo Version 2.0 software to the public, offering several improvements over previous releases, such as enhanced search features that can do keyword program searches, and an overtime scheduler that lets you add a buffer to the end of your recording--so you don't miss recording the play of the century just because it occurred in overtime.

Installation is a snap; the DSR6000's onscreen menus walk you through the process. Philips includes most of the accessories needed, along with a user-friendly suite of manuals. In addition, we tried out the customer support on three occasions during peak hours. Our wait never exceeded 60 seconds, and the Philips service solutions group on the other end of the phone was informed and helpful.

A DVR like the DSR6000 gives you unparalleled control over your viewing. First off, any time you're watching TV, a 30-minute recording buffer is always in action, letting you pause live TV--the image freezes when you hit pause, but the hard disk keeps recording. When you resume playback, the recording now stored on the hard disk picks up where you left off. So if the phone rings or the kids can't wait, you won't miss a moment of your show. You can pick up right where you left-off, skip the commercials that ran while you were with your family, and you may even end up finishing the program on schedule.

For sports fans, nothing rivals instant replay of live TV. Say you just watched an incredible triple play. With TiVo, you don't have to wait for the network's replay. Just replay it on the DSR6000. You can watch in slow motion or frame-by-frame and still catch up to the network's replay.

Both TiVo and DIRECTV offer several convenient features--status bars, channel banners, programming schedules, Wish Lists, recording archives, and more--that make TV watching easier than ever. And you can toggle between either system's features, using those you like best.

TiVo includes a search feature that lets you find programming based on theme, actor, time, date, etc. A programmable parental lock lets you guide your child's TV viewing. A clever thumbs-up/thumbs-down feature can track your viewing likes and dislikes. TiVo uses this data to search out and recommend new programs that you might enjoy.

You can record a lot of programs on the DSR6000's hard drive. TiVo manages these in a storage cache called Now Playing. You can select a recording from Now Playing and watch it, even if it's recording. You can also opt for the Season Pass feature and record an entire TV series. You can even set TiVo to record first-run shows only, ignoring the repeats. As the DSR6000's disk space fills, TiVo helps you manage it.

DIRECTV delivers a staggering range of program offerings into your home--up to 225 channels including music channels. Its video quality is equally outstanding. DIRECTV displays program schedules 14 days in advance, which is great for planning recording time or if you travel a lot. If an alternative audio track is available, DIRECTV also lets you listen to both TV programs and movies in other languages.

Among the best features of both DIRECTV and TiVo are their special programs. DIRECTV offers DIRECT TICKET, pay-per-view programming that you'll find nowhere else. TiVo offers its own television magazine called Tivolution, featuring one-of-a kind interviews, movie reviews, and special previews, as well as TiVo Takes with tips and programming updates for viewers.

Philips's DSR6000 DIRECTV Receiver with TiVo Service not only reshapes your TV viewing, it rethinks it, ultimately letting you create your own network. --Heidi Wartelle ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DirectTiVo is Crippled - Not fully enabled
I've had 6 Tivos but up until now, they have all been freestanding (TiVo1 and TiVo2) units. I switched to satellite about a year ago and was thrilled to find that DirecTV was offering Tivos.....Until I brought mine home. What they DON'T tell you is that DirecTV TiVo is designed and built for DirecTV only.It DOES NOT record cable or over the air broadcasts, it DOES NOT support networking (a fantastic feature for getting your schedule via Internet and sharing shows between multiple TiVos in a household) and, because it doesn't support networking, it also doesn't support the Home Media Option (which allows you to stream audio and images from your PC to your TiVo).It also doesn't support web based scheduling requests or the soon to be released TiVo-to-Go.These are all features that are central to the TiVo culture and I'm amazed that DirecTV has crippled their version of the TiVo service.I'd happily pay out the few bucks a month to add a DirecTV unit to my TiVo subscription, but DirecTV doesn't allow for it.

The long and short of it is that this is not a fully enabled TiVo and there isn't much you can do about it.If you just want a PVR with a nice interface, this is probably it.But if you want TiVO, as in ALL of TiVo, then skip these direcTV units, buy a regular TiVo and hook it up to you current satellite receiver. Not only can you record over-the-air or cable this way, but you get every one of the TiVo functions that the folks at TiVo have thoughtfully built into thier units.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best TV Accessory Ever!!
I will make this short & sweet...this thing is amazing! It has truly changed our TV watching for the better.

Thank you, TiVo!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I own 4- They are great!
I don't generally write reviews, but after seeing some of the complaints you have posted, I decided to set things straight. I have owned 4 of these units for over 1 year and the only problems we ever had were caused by incompetent installers. When there is a problem, either your sales person or later, DirectV will replace the unit as long as you purchase a service plan. They all work beautifully, and they have completely spoiled my family. My teenage sons said, " Mom this is the best thing you ever bought". If you are not afraid to read directions, you will easily be able to run the software. No modems ever gave me trouble, nothing ran hot, everything is just as specified. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars best console ever?
This review is not particuarly for the "Smoke" edition, I own the basic black one with grey controller which isn't listed at Amazon.

I bought one when PS II and Gamecube were already on the market after played a friends N64for a couple of months.
Great games! I always thought Playstation was the console to have, but when I checked the games for both consoles I bought a N64 straightaway.
When you look at the best games for both systems (a top 10, if you like) the N64 has the best games:

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Perfect Dark
GoldenEye 007
Super Mario 64
Banjo-Kazooie
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Donkey Kong 64
Banjo-Tooie
Paper Mario

Ofcourse playstation has great games: Metal Gear Solid, Tombraider, Gran Turismo, Medal of Honor, Tekken 3, but no adventure game comes close to the Zelda games and there isn't a platform game on the playstation that matches Banjo, Mario and Donkey Kong 64.
Gran turismo is a great race game, but I don't like racers that much. And Tekken is a...fighting game...enough said.

And imagine a Playstation that will not load scratched discs or freezes for no reason at all.
Playstation looks better at first sight, but isn't that good build.
N64 is very well built and the game cartridges (cassettes) last forever.

The N64 controller looks ugly, but its handling is superb...blahdieblah.
This console made me go for the Gamecube and not the PS II or Xbox.
Overall this is the best console made, Gamecube still has to proove itself in my opion.

5-0 out of 5 stars The 3rd generation of nintendo.
I have only had this system for 2 years but I already have 12 or 11 games. My personal favorite The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. Don't forget the N64 was the King of gaming sytems.
It sure beat PS1 in Grapics and Audio sound but it lost in Game
selection. I do agree with most of my N64 comrades that this system is more for younger gamers but thats Ok with me since I
have 4 younger sisters. Sure I would like a PS2 or Gamecube but
N64 is a good all around system. I got the system with an Atomic purple controller and a normal grey controller. I really want 4 more games before you can't find games in stores anymore.
I really want Majora's Mask the 2nd Zelda game for the N64.
Today I was at the Mall when I saw a kid with 3 N64 games I couldn't believe he had bought that many games from the same store since N64 games are hard to find. If anybody reads this review and you have a N64 in your closet and your playing your
PS2 switch them and play some classic N64. Let your PS2 fell
the neglect that your N64 gets all the time. Since you'll stick your PS2 in closet to play PS3 one day if a PS3 ever comes out.
I hope my review was helpful.

Editorial Review

Nintendo 64 owners have been patiently waiting for a decentrole-playinggame, and, at long last, one has arrived in the form of the perplexingPaperMario. World-famous video game icon Mario stars in this unconventionalRPG,which was originally announced as Super Mario RPG 2. Don't be fooled by the cutesy visual exterior of this game, which borrowsheavily from the well-established Mario universe. Yep... it's the same lovableMario who dons his familiar red overalls and unkempt moustache. However, thecatch is that Mario now stubbornly appears as a two-dimensionalcharacter--despite the largely 3-D exterior gaming environments that surroundhim. When ourflat-headed friend turns around, his paper-thin presence becomes immediatelyapparent. It's a cool gimmick, but fortunately Paper Mario is far fromacut-and-paste cartoon caper.

As with most RPG titles, players must battle with several menacing enemies asthey travel from place to place on their quest. Each encounter requires gamersto strategically choose between various modes of attack. For example, Mario isparticularly handy with the hammer--thus you might opt to select hishangover-inducing hammer attack. As the adventure progresses, additionalcharacters willjoin your quest. Your ever-growing posse gives you more fighting power, aseachteam member brings new attack moves and powers worth mastering. To advancewithin the game, you'll need to pay close attention to your health meter, enemyhit points, and your ever-expanding attack options. The game starts withenemiesthat are easy to defeat, but it quickly becomes quite difficult to survivesubsequent attacks without careful planning.

Unlike most RPG games, each attack sequence is enhanced by a special actionfunction. Instead of passively sitting back and watching each attack moveoccur, the player can enhance your attack by pressing a button or moving thedirectional controller at precisely the right time. As someone who has rackedupseveral hours (and more than a few snoozes) during repetitious RPG attacksequences, the action feature is a welcome addition to break up the monotonyofmultiple attacks.

Fans of the traditional Mario games will appreciate the return of familiarcharacters, such as Princess Peach and Luigi. Perpetual baddie Bowser evenplaysa key role in this addictive adventure. Best of all, there are plenty ofhiddenareas and extras to uncover. Paper Mario may boast elements of theclassic platform gaming genre, as well as the traditional RPG--but itultimatelycuts through all expectations to deliver an experience that appeals to bothcasual and hard-core gamers. --Brett Atwood

Pros:

  • Weeks of gaming due to expansive environments
  • Hidden goodies to uncover
  • Classic Mario gameplay mixed with traditional RPG action
Cons:
  • Highly addictive (prepare to lose some sleep)
  • Cartoon exterior may not appeal to some hard-core gamers

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Well, I won a free game rental at Video Plus, so I chose this game. Let me tell you, I was happy with my choice. I loved everything about it. I played for about 10 hours every day (I'm not kidding about that), and finished it before my rental period was over. I'm glad I managed that feat, because otherwise I would have wept when it was time to return it.

The worlds you'll travel to are so cool. I found myself exploring a giant toybox, a colorful garden, and a gorgeous desert palace, among many other environments. Since I didn't use a strategy guide, I was constantly wondering what would come next.

As I travelled the extensive world, I met many party members who would help me out, both in battle and in puzzles and exploration. Each partner has their own distinctive combat abilities, puzzle solving skill, and personality. For example, Watt, a sweet, good-natured sun ball that joins you in the Shy Guy Toy Box, can use electric shocks to attack in battle, and you can also use her to light up dark rooms. Parakarry, a distracted mail deliveryman, used dive-bomb attacks and could fly me across short gaps. The list goes on and on.

The combat system is a mix of action and RPG elements. You select commands from a menu to attack, but if you time your button presses carefully, you can do a lot of extra damage. Press A just as you rebound from your jump to do a double-jump; Rapidly flick the control stick to build power for a dive bomb; each attack has its own button combination, so you won't get bored.

Outside of combat, you can level up your HP and FP (FP are like MP), collect badges that make you more powerful, find Super Blocks to grant your partners new moves, and, most importantly, solve the perfectly-done puzzles. Each puzzle makes perfect sense; if you look carefully, you'll always find a way to solve it with a combination of you and your partners' abilities.

Finally, there are some little extras that can really make a difference. The graphics are bright and colorful, and look great even today; they make even minor characters memorable. There are a few sidequests, such as delivering letters and collecting Star Fragments to earn new badges. And after every world you complete, you'll get to play a short interlude where you control Princess Peach. It's these bells and whistles that really make the game unique and fun.

Buy this game immediately. It may be on a last-gen system, but the masterful gameplay and pure fun are timeless.

5-0 out of 5 stars its good!
I like this game. Its fun some times it gets a littel borring but i reccomond it. The bake rounds are lovely and pretty and some times you get to be princess peach!

5-0 out of 5 stars Got Cheats and Hints Here
Ok, now seriously this game is da bomb. The enviroment is great. The Mario line just keeps getting better. The game is very challenging for first timers. However, once you beat it you can beat the game in half a day.
Here are some cheats for the game:
iN tOAD tOWN AFTER YOU get the super boots in boo's mansion, go to Merlon's house and spin jump in his house 3 times. The quick change badge will fall fro the ceiling. It allows you to change party members without taking up a turn.
On Huff'N'Puff, use Bow on ultra rank and her fan smack to do ten damage. Then switch back to mario and use Star Storm from Skolar. You'll kill him in about 4-5 turns.
Do not use Chet Rippo ( the big blue dude standing next to the other Item shop. He ups one stat but lowers the other 2.
On any boss or hard to beat person, use Watt she does 5 damage for 0 FP. She breaks the defense rule.
When you have to pick what Mario hates after chapter 3 in Bowser's castle, pick Magikoopa, Koopatrol, and Hammer Bros. They give you 5-8 star points apiece.
If you need help on dry Dry Desert, go to Ign.com and type in Paper Mario. It gives you a map and tons of hints. Also it has walkthroughs and more cheats.

5-0 out of 5 stars Marrige FAQ
I have been playing this game for a long time and have been trying to find all it's secrets. I think harvest moon games are some of the best games money can buy. Trust me if you buy one of these you won't be at all dissapointed. I havent been able to but i know a bit about the marrige stuff. For starters you need to see all the girls heart events of which there should be about 5. You need to give the girls stuff they like wrapped up at the supermarket. You need to have over 100,000g to marry as well and it helps if you are friendly with the girl's family. I will be adding more to this site later. Hope you like it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hopelessly addicting
Harvest Moon 64 is very much like Animal Crossing, which came out two years later. It's a you-either-love-it-or-you-don't game. The game reeks of repetition, but it just has that charm that keeps certain people coming at it over and over. I suppose what really determines which of the two aforementioned categories is how good you are at it. I mean, if you really suck at it, like me, you would spend all day trying to water your plants, and have no time with any interaction, which is the true heart and soul behind this game. Sure, growing crops, raising animals, and foraging are important, but if that's all you do, you're not experiencing this game to its fullest.

Harvest Moon 64 was perhaps the Nintendo 64 game with the largest amount of possible character interaction until Nintendo released Animal Forest in late 2001. There are *counts* *gives up* over 30 people in that little town, and you can speak to all of them. Some of the people are not very fun to talk to, but others provide you with some hearty conversations and long-lasting friendships, especially the five available ladies. Oh yeah. My favorites are Anne and Elli. Ahem...although Harvest Moon 64 has that dating sim aspect, the actual process of winning their hearts is a bit confusing. Perhaps I just don't understand it. Other activities fill the year, such as festivals and horse/dog races. They break the monotony and offer some welcomed changes to the gameplay. Of course, you can add to the monotony during the races by spending time betting max coins for each entry, but I guess that's your choice. The gameplay here is pretty open-ended. It's just that the days pass so fast. Even though your character looks like he should be in middle school, it is possible for you to start a family. It's too bad your son will always stay a mooch. While the monotonous gameplay would seem soporific give it a try anyways. If you're good, then you'd most likely enjoy this game. Not only that, it would also be fun to watch. That's right. It is in fact FUN to watch somebody that is good.

The graphics are nothing special. The entire game is played from a top-down perspective, and your character's movement is a bit...odd, to say the least. Because the action is seen from the angle, moving in diagnals is the way to go. The character models are actually not that bad. They have this cute, beady-eyed look that is quite adorable. The music is very nice, but it is too short and as a result loops too often. Some people faulted the game for talking only in text. But you know what? Voice acting would have ruined it. Oh yeah. This is probably the only N64 with the descriptor "Alcohol Use".

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

5-0 out of 5 stars Stange is good
Majora's Mask is a strange game: while it is a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time, it is clearly a Zelda game of a very different shade.

It begins with Link slowly trudging deep in the Lost Woods, with his trusty horse, Epona, when he is attacked by a masked and mischevious Skull Kid - who steals his precious Ocarina and Epona. Worse still, the Skull Kid turns Link into a Deku form of himself, and Link finds himself in a strange Mirror - like Hyrule. Things turn even worse when Link finds the moon slowly getting bigger over the course of 3 days...

Majora's Mask features the very same Gameplay as Ocarina of Time, with a few exceptions. The entire course of the game is set within 3 days or 72 hours - and hours seem to pass like minutes, giving a player a total of just over an hour. While this may seem off-putting, it is implemented very well - people have set schedules over the course of the game, meaning you will be pottering around the Clock Town while not in dungeons, with the promise of an upgrade - or even a new mask.

Masks, as the title suggests, play an important role - some make you run faster, talk to enemies, summen foes or sooth arguements and more. There are a total of 24 masks to collect, the reward being a mask containing "The Merits of all masks". The best of the masks are the ones that allow transformation. (Let's face it, who HASN'T dreamed of swimming as a Zora or rolling as a Goron) The Zora Mask, the Goron Mask and the Deku mask. they allow you to transforminto all your favourites from Ocarina, each with the gifts of the species - Super fast swimming, Incredible strength, and, er, spitting nuts.

Majora's Mask is harder, darker and more original than Ocarina of Time - the unique aspects of the game are implemented very well but the way the game is played may be off-putting for some. Brilliant and totally original.

P.S. the start bits kinda boring.

5-0 out of 5 stars The darkest in the Zelda catalogue
If only that damn site IGN didn't take my idea first. They described this game as the Empire Strikes Back in Zelda and it's true. It's more darker, more gloomy and at times it can even be depressing. Unlike Ocarina of Time which oozed coolness and wonderment or Wind Waker which was cheery and uplifting due to its look, Majora's Mask is quite different than other installments but in no way is it bad, it's just different.

Story: I always considered this game more like an epilogue to Ocarina of Time rather than a full sequel. At the start of the game directly taking place after Ocarina, Link is in a forest and gets ambushed by Skull Kid and is turned into a Deku(they look like tiny trees with a long mouth) and enters a portal. From here Link finds himself in Termina, a land that is gonna be destroyed by a falling moon in 3 days. So it's up to Link once again to save the day using the powers of time and this weird masks.

Graphics: Reviewing this game in 2005 with such games as Metroid Prime, Halo and Metal Gear Solid 3 of course puts Majora to shame but remembering the graphics at that time, it's more of an extension of Ocarina only darker and not as vibrant. Due to maybe the Expansion Pak or just the game itself, the game does have framerate issues and some rough textures. Beware that the Gamecube re-release on the Collector's Edition sometimes freezes the game.

Gameplay: All Zelda games pretty much to this day revolved around some kind of "gimmick": in Ocarina it was time travelling, Wind Waker was controlling the wind, Minish Cap was the ability to shrink to thumbnail size and the Oracle series revolved around time travelling and season changing. Majora's Mask revolves around, yep you guessed it, masks. Link with the benefit of 24 masks(25 if you get all 24), Link can turn into different characters such as the Deku race, Goron race(big tough creatures with a taste for rocks) and the Zora race(fish people roughly). Or there's different masks like Postman, Ghost, or Bunny mask which makes him run faster.

The other aspect for the 3rd time in Zelda's history revolves around time travelling, once in Ocarina and the other in Oracle of Ages. Only this time it's different. You see the game's clock makes 3 days take about roughly 50 minutes before the moon crashes so with the Ocarina you can go back to Day 1 and start over, even make the time go slower so you have more time. This is quite annoying to say the least since your funds, arrows and bombs revert to zero if you go back to Day 1, your items are intact, your extra stuff isn't. And also you could be in the middle of a dungeon to be really close only to be on the final day and have to reset to Day 1, which incidentally cancels any progress you made in the dungeon.

Not to say the game is bad(it's just slightly hard) but it's quite enjoyable to go through, if you don't mind it's tone anyway.

4-0 out of 5 stars very very good but,not as good as 'ocarina of time'
I played the Legend of zelda ocarina of time in 1997,WHAT A YEAR THAT WAS!!!I had so much fun!then in gameinformer magazine the new preveiws page said that there was going to be a new game called 'the legend of zelda:majora's mask'it was about link going to a new land where the moon is falling and he has only 3 days to live and on the third day link has to play the song of time so that he can go back to the first day,I HAD TO HAVE IT!but then half a year later when it came out,I was very upset because when I played it,it was too easy and I beat it in almost a week!when I played'Ocarina of time'it took me almost two YEARS!but other then that it was a fun game,Very fun in fact.I really liked that you can upgrade your sword, when in 'ocarina of time'the master sword is what you see what you get!PROS TO MAJORAS MASK:There are lots of masks that you can get and they give powers(like fast running),you can upgrade your sword twice, there are new songs for link to play on his ocarina and there is a bank so link can have alot of money!CONS:you have to play 'the song of time'way to often because the moon is falling for some reason and you have only 3 days to live, finding more then half of the masks are very hard to find, the game has only four temples and they are all very hard way too short.but all in all this game is worth around $15.00,so if you like the other Zelda games try this one too! ...
