5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding value
I've used my C3000 for years. While it's only 3.2MP, I momentarily relegated to a shoebox while a new 5MP Sony DSC-P93 took the limelight.

I ended up selling the Sony and going back to the Olympus, which takes outstanding shots indoors and out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Still going strong
Having been a veteran of the SLR scene, I waited a long time to buy a digital camera. I have now had my C-3000 for 3 years and it is still performing excellently. Only 3.3 megapxels? No problem. Unless you are printing poster sized pictures, who needs more? (unless you really want to get SLR quality, which I believe is now possible). True, this was expensive when I bought it (equivalent of $1,000), but the number of photos I have taken has saved me this in processing fees. It is easy to use and if you are daring enough has enough interesting advanced features. Once I figured out how to depress the button slightly for autofocusing etc, I could do panning shots.

The downside: Yes, the lens cap does tend to get lost, but my brother has a later version with string attached. The LCD panel gets scratched, but I have not noticed diminished monitor quality. Olympus tell you not to use it outside in cold weather because of condensation problems. Does this not apply to all electronics, or is it a problem with this camera?

I am shortly going to purchase a 128mb card, as they are now cheap. I can't find any limitations on card size, so I hope it is OK. The CAMEDIA software is OK, but the USB connection is a little sensitive. PICASA does not pick up this camera at all-it senses otyher digitals.

Overall, I think in its class this is a classic, just like the Olympus OM-1/10 was a classic SLR. If you can pick one up second-hand, do so. Just check that LCD screen.

Editorial Review

With a durable Koskin exterior, and a foam-padded interior, the Case Logic DC70 is a great bag for those needing room for both a camera and an assortment of supplies. The main compartment is large enough to hold most digital cameras (the internal dimensions are 6.5 by 2.5 by 6 inches). An additional foldout flap can hold cables, flash memory, floppies, batteries, or any other accessories you need to carry with you. The removable shoulder strap lets you carry your camera at your hip, ready for action. In case of nasty weather, a weather-resistant bottom panel helps prevent any moisture from finding its way to your equipment. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Case Camera Bag
This bag has lots of pockets for batteries, cords, and memory cards, and plenty of room for my Olympus C-4000 camera.Unfortunately, within 3 months of purchasing it, the attached handle began to tear, and I can only use the included longer strap.

Olympus B-40SU Ni-MH Battery and Charger Set
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Electronics
list price: $69.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

Digital cameras are notorious for quickly consuming batteries, making rechargeable batteries a virtual necessity. This kit consists of four AA batteries and a quick charger. The batteries are rated at 1,600 milliamp hours, which makes them some of the highest-capacity rechargeables available. The charger will fully charge a set of four batteries in less than four hours.

While many battery chargers plug directly into the outlet and hang on the wall while charging, the Olympus charger uses a cord that attaches to the unit. In addition, the unit can be plugged into any 100- to 240-volt outlet (assuming the plug fits in the socket), making this a great unit to take along if you're traveling internationally. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for travel
I have been using my Olympus charger for over three years.I travel and need a dual voltage recharger. This is just about the only dual voltage charger out there - you need a convertor for most.Convertors tend to be heavy and also tend to fail at very awkward times and blow things up when they do so.An especially nice feature is that there is a cord that you use for plugging onto the wall. The reason this is so nice is that other chargers that plug directly into the wall rarely stay plugged in or won't plug in when the wall socket is recessed which is so common overseas. This problem is compounded when a plug adapter is used - the weight of the recharger and batteries pulls it right out of the adapter/wall.I have had to prop them up with books and coffee cups to keep things plugged in.The cord eliminates all of this.I would not trade this charger for anything.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outlasts All
I've had my Olympus charger and the same batteries for over 6 years now...and they have outlasted 3 sets of Panasonic, Kodak and Everready rechargables....that I've had as backup sets...I won't buy any other brand for my digital camera again...these are by far the best

5-0 out of 5 stars Works great
Works great, charges 1600 and 1800 Mah hour NiMH batteries and shuts off when it is done.Well priced, what more could you want? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about.Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Viking 64MB SmartMedia Card, like most 64MB cards, will store on average 71 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 53 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera,32 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 25 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 20 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this card is the right capacity for your specific needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Apprehensive about buying at first. But now I'm glad I did!
I needed a bigger card for my FujiFilm 2600z camera, which I also got off amazon.com almost two years ago.It came with a 16mb card but I needed something bigger, especially with my wedding coming up.

I was looking at the 128mb Memorex SmartMedia Card, but I discovered my camera was not on Memorex's compatibility list.My next choice was the 64mb card from Viking.I was a little skeptical at first because I had never heard of them before. However, after reading some great reviews from other amazon.com shoppers I decided to give it a shot (especially because it was priced lower then most of the others).

I could not be happier!First off I went from only being able to hold 20 photos (at max quality), to around 82!I have been using the card for months, taking photos, deleting them, transferring them to my PC, and so far it has been working great. The card also came with a plastic protective case, which is now where my 16mb card resides.

If I ever decide to go with the larger 128mb card, or if I get a new camera, I will definitely consider another Viking memory card, and would recommend their product to any of my friends.

5-0 out of 5 stars Heavy EBAY auction lister gives "Two Thumbs Up" to this card
Between listing items at home and at a high-volume bookstore, we probably list about 300 items a week. And for that, I take sometimes 1,000s of pictures - each week! This card has been continually used for some two years now, working five days a week -with not a single problem.

Each of our images is under 350k for EBAY aauctions and I can save 292 high quality images at a time - and they always turn out well. I highly recommend this card. For our day-to-day jobs - we will only use this Viking card. It has never failed us. I use it at home. It's taken in and out of the camera many, many times, and it just keeps on working. It really is our workhorse. ... Read more
