Documents to Go 4 Professional Edition

    Editorial Review

While it won't replace the desktop computer any time soon, the handheld PDA is catching up and is becoming rather indispensable. Documents To Go 4.0 Professional makes several popular document formats easily portable and even allows basic editing on the run. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files synch between PDA and multiple computers quickly and completely, and can be viewed on the Palm screen with surprising readability. Users can edit Word and Excel files, though the range of editing options is necessarily more limited than on desktop machines, and some files (especially complex Word documents) are tough to work with.

Installation is pretty simple; like all Palm software, there are several steps, but most users should find themselves synching files shortly. The interface is nearly transparent and the coders took pains to reproduce the look and feel of Microsoft Office. The Acrobat reader is a nice feature, even if the images are stripped to save memory. Despite this, RAM will be a problem for some users, who will undoubtedly have to make some tough decisions about which files to keep on the Palm.

Minor memory and editing problems aside, Documents To Go 4.0 Professional makes on-the-run synching and file-fixing a snap. And while the PDA won't replace the desktop machine anytime soon, the laptop better watch out. --Rob Lightner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
Upgraded to latest Documents to Go 4 including Add-on kit last week. Have always been impressed with the main product, but the add-on kit is excellent. The mail sync (we use Lotus Notes) and the handling of attachments on my Palm M505 is the best I have tried - smooth, reliable, hassle free, straightforward to use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not up to snuff anymore
This was the coolest thing I loaded on my Palm after I first got it from amazon. But I later discovered that far better solutions exist on the market from other companys like bluenomad software and cutting edge software. Since my copy was free, it wasn't bad, but noone should spend any money on this product when such great alternatives as quickoffice and wordsmith are available for much less money and have much better features. There is no real formatting in the word processor, you can't set the font, the spreadsheet frequently looses information, and stuff.
But for first time users, it is a nice way to see what the Palm can do I think.

PalmOne Portable Keyboard for Palm m100/m105, III Series, and VII Series Handhelds
Average Customer Review: 4.5 out of 5 stars
    Electronics

    Editorial Review

It's always a wonderful feeling when gadgets work seamlessly and live upto their plug-and-play promise. The Palm portable keyboard is such a gadget. It's possibly the best hardware add-on for Palm devices currently on themarket--it installs easily and helps you increase your Palm productivity.

Installation of the Keyboard application onto the Palm handheld is easilyaccomplished during a typical HotSync. (To prepare the app for HotSync, simplyadd it to the Install Tool on Windows, or the Install Handheld Files in the MacHotSync Manager.)

Once the app was installed, we were ready for testing at a meeting. We saunteredin and unfolded the keyboard in a flourish--clicking it open from its foldedposition, laying it flat, sliding the keyboard parts together (it's broken intothirds for folding), and attaching our m100 in a matter of seconds. Theattendees at the meeting were suitably wide eyed and impressed with our JamesBondian device. (This model of the Palm Portable Keyboard also accommodates PalmVII and Palm III series handhelds--even the Palm IIIc. A separate model isavailable for the Palm V.)

But the Palm portable keyboard is more than a flashy toy--it's a productivityjuggernaut that has some of the best keyboard action we've ever experienced. Thekeys are not soft and mushy like other keyboards we've tested for handhelds.Instead, they're a bit on the tight side but with a lot of give. Also, the morewe used the keyboard, the more we found ourselves shying away from tapping thescreen to navigate through a screen or perform actions such as switchingapplications or opening up the Details section of a Memo or Address Bookcontact. With the Palm keyboard, you can do virtually all your work withouttaking your fingers off the keyboard.

The keyboard includes custom buttons for the built-in Palm applications (DateBook, Address, To Do List, and Memo Pad). Several keys have added functions, such as the ability to open up the Appsscreen, scroll through a screen, or turn on the backlight. You can also customize your own shortcuts list of applications loaded onto your Palm handheld. This is done using the Keyboard app, and you can assign the number keys 1 through 9 (but not 0). After making our designations, pressing Cmd-1 immediately took us to our favorite diversion--YahtC--during a lull in our meeting.

All told, we have nothing but praise for the Palm portable keyboard, not justfor the ease of inputting text but also for changing the way we use our Palmhandheld. Since we started using the keyboard, we now often travel without anylaptop, confident that any degree of writing or note taking during meetings canbe handled by our Palm alone. (It should also be noted that we typed this reviewon our m100 while sitting comfortably at our local coffee shop.) If you are aheavy Palm user, the Palm portable keyboard is an essential and very cool tool.--Agen G.N. Schmitz

5-0 out of 5 stars Palm Key board
I never really used my palm until I bought this key board. It is great I use it all the time now.The keyboard was like new and works great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love it!!
I really like this item.I like it for school a lot. When I do my reports it is a very cool tool to have. The shortcuts are cool too.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this!
I have had my Palm for about 2 years and bought a keyboard when it was only a couple of months old. I took that one back because it was sold without software. I decided not to buy another one because I didn't want to have to run up to the computer store again.

I'm a journalist, so I'm using my Palm daily now and am always having to pull up the keyboard on the screen. This get's a be a pain when I'm writing a list of interview questions or writing down who I talked to or emailed in a contact log.

The keyboard took less than 5 minutes to install, pop in the CD and add the keyboard will be installed next time you sync your Palm with the PC.I was shocked that it really was that simple.

When I finally have to replace my Palm, I'm definitely going to get another keyboard. This one saves me so much time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Printer
As an advanced amateur photograper I use the 990cse to print out my scanned photos. The results are top quality. I purchased the 990cse in early January and have used it nearly everyday running mostly HP High Quality Gloss Photopaper.I have also used the 2 sided copy and have printed out a 200 page document with ease.My OS is MS Windows XP Home and the interface is flawless.I have to admit I have not put other brand named printers through their paces to compare and some fellow Nikon photographers like the Epson printers equally well. But for me, unless the 99cse disappoints me down the road, I am sold on its quality.

2-0 out of 5 stars Has some problems
The print quality of this unit is great. However, the duplex unit (two-sided printing module) on this printer has caused me nothing but problems. It worked a few times but now it jams almost every time I try to use it. Followed HP support advice for several frustrating hours to no avail. Not recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another quality procuct from H.P.
I purchased this printer Dec 29, 2000. It has been used virtually every day since then. I absolutly love the quality and speed. The automatic 2-sided printing saves me tons of paper. The photos that I print on photo paper are second to none. I have several of them framed and hanging in my home. For general use, like printing from the internet or making trip maps, even a lot of work stuff, (I'm in the military) I print using draft mode. It is still pretty darn't good quality and amazingly fast. If the quality really needs to be good, just bump up the print quality setting. The speed will decrease of course, but that makes sense. A tip to try though, if you use the same kind of paper most of the time (I use H.P. bright white) is you can select that paper setting in the setup menu. That way the automatic paper sensor is disabled. Time is saved because the printer doesn't have to anaylize what type of paper it is going to be printing on, it just starts printing. Of course I set it back to automatic when I'm done. I never know what the wife is going to be printing. She just loads whatever she's working on and lets the printer figure it out! All in all, I couldn't be happier. I would definantly buy it again. The main complaints that I have read on this site are 1. use with Mac and 2. use with heavy stock. 1. I really don't know what to tell you Mac users. Ask another Mac user and see if they have the same problems. 2. The heavy stock users, read the specs before you buy this or any printer. This one plainly states not to use anything heavier than 24lb. Don't blame the printer because you can't read. ... Read more

Canon BJC-85 Portable Color Bubble Jet Printer
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    Electronics
    list price: $299.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

The Canon BJC-85 color bubble jet printer is an exceptional combination of lightweight portability and professional-quality desktop printing--a remarkably fast, commanding little printer, enabling you to produce letters, memos, and reports on all your excursions. The perfect companion to your desktop or laptop, both Mac and PC compatible, the Canon BJC-85 color bubble jet printer is practical for travel and use just about anywhere with its long-life battery (and optional battery pack) and the AC adapter. Plus, fast built-in infrared IrDA wireless technology lets you print without a cable connection.

Sleek size is just an introduction to the printer: documents print in crisp 720 x 360 dpi black and at a surprisingly swift speed--for a portable printer--of five pages per minute in black and white and two pages per minute in color. These rates are supported by a 30-sheet paper feed for continuous printing. The crisp and vibrant colors delivered by the Canon BJC-85 color bubble jet printer on charts, graphs, and photos are necessity, not luxury, whether you are home or away. With the addition of the optional IS-12 color image scanner cartridge you can transform the BJC-85 into a sheet-fed color scanner, which is an outstanding opportunity to gain two compact and portable machines in one.

Even with the AC adapter and optional battery included, the Canon BJC-85 weighs in at just 4.5 pounds. Printing while on the road or in the air is easy when you carry the Canon BJC-85 color bubble jet printer's impressive high quality with you. A universal power adapter, color and black ink cartridges, and a CD-ROM with printer/scanner drivers are included. Canon offers a one-year limited warranty on parts and labor with SelectExchange on the BJC-85 printer. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Poor paper feed
I have owned BJC 70 and BJC 80.Both have difficulty feeding automatically. I have had to guide each single piece of paper in order for the feed to catch.

I have also gone through a power supply.Currently my power button is not operating and cannot turn on.

I paid the high price of $300 for dependabilty thinking that it was reliable but the variety of mechanical failures have caused me to look for another brand name.I do love the portability design, but I guess design does not equate with dependability.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, with one discrepancy (sp?)
This is a good quality printer.I like it.There's only one thing I don't like. The ink tanks (cartridges) are small. It seems like I'm always putting in a new one.And of course, they have to have all three colors in one tank so that the remaining ink of the other two colors gets wasted. At least the tanks are cheap.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Fabulous
I traveled to India on business, where just plugging something in was quite the adventure, so when I pulled this little gizmo out of my suitcase (where it took up almost no room), attached it to my laptop, and heard the whir of it going into action ... well, I almost wept. So far from home, with such a little piece of technical ingenuity. I have wanted to thank Canon for the past year, and so I'm doing it now. We actually use the BJC-85 as a secondary printer in my home business ... you know how it is, you don't want to walk all the way from the dining room to the office. It's sturdy, compatible with Mac and PC, and just too cute for words. For goodness sakes, it's not much bigger than a carton of eggs! ... Read more

SiPix A6 Black Pocket Palm Printer
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    Electronics
    list price: $149.99

    Editorial Review

Offering you portable printing capabilities, the SiPix A6 Pocket Palm Printer connects easily to either PCs or Palm Pilots. While it may not be as fast as your in-office printer, this little gem weighs in at less than 1 pound and churns out documents at 2 ppm with a decent 400 dpi resolution. Overall dimensions are scarcely larger than some wallets (5.8 by 4.25 inches), and the thickness is less than 1 inch.

The direct thermal printing method means the only consumables are the paper and the batteries; if you use the AC adapter, your only expense will be replacement paper rolls. Run time with the adapter is a full hour, while the batteries supply just three minutes of power.

Included in the box are both the adapter and a starter set of batteries, along with a roll of paper, a power cable, and a convenient travel bag. SiPix offers a one-year warranty that covers parts, labor, and 12 months of free telephone technical support. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The best little printer
When I was looking for a printer for my Toshiba e335 Pocket PC, I heard a lot of people who bought this printer had problems with their printer when their Pocket PC os was 2002.Well, I guess the company has fixed the problem because my printer works well with my pocket pc! My only complaint is that the printer is noisy and not quiet enough to use in a classroom setting when the room needs to be silent.A great buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Robust Portable Printer
...Portable printers are not meant to compete against laserprinters or ink jets. They are made to provide printouts under non-office conditions, i.e., field use, and except for environs were extreme heat-in-the-shade --- like deserts, are operant, a thermal printer is most reliable, needs little maintenance and consumes few resources.

Thermal printouts are used all the time as TRANSITORY computer output on paper, such as ATMs, gas station receipts etc., to give users a copy of output.I've used 2 thermal printers since 1984, and these printers have outlived their CPUs.

I use the printer as general output on a boat or a plane, often in transit to remote locations, exposed to high humidity and at times printing from within a ziplock bag.The IR signal penetrates the bag nicely, and allows printing in a water resistant container.Thermal paper doesn't run when wet, and when cold laminated, allows one to take printouts diving ... were water temps rarely exceed 90F.

Competing ink jet printers, while capable of A4 size sheets, can have comparably illegible fonts, higher cost and maintenance and print horribly under humid conditions.A4 paper is more inconvenient to carry.

The Sipix is very similar to a thermal printer engine released by Alps in 1998...

A full spec sheet is availableonline...

It has a rated life of 50 million print impressions and paper advance mechanism life of 20km.That's roughly 17,000 prints or 72,000 sheets advanced of A4 paper.Using A6 paper, that's substantially more sheets.

Rolled Paper is Superior to Sheet Paper.Printouts rarely use the full length of a single A6 sheet, thus the unprinted area is wasted. In long printouts, type will span several pages, and sheet paper will be wasted on unprinted margins.

What is wrong with the Sipix is the cost, its not worth [the price].....
The Sipix thicker thermal paper maybe less prone to curl, but it still does, and its not suitable for rolls.Roll paper are torn are various lengths. The Sipix paper is too strong and does not tear cleanly.Sipix paper is too expensive, even if heavily discounted...You can buy bulk A6 wide paper of over 76 feetper roll, of thinner grade paper for [$] for 25 rolls, and simply cut 8' rolls for convenience....

4-0 out of 5 stars Print MS Word Documents From Your Palm -- Anywhere
As a heavy user of word processing on my Palm via DataViz's Documents to Go 4.0 (available from Amazon) which allows me to download -- and work on -- MS Word files on my PDA, I was anxious to find a means to print these Word documents directly from my Palm -- without having to synch and output from my PC.Additionally, if the printer were also portable, that would be even better.

The Sipix Pocket Printer A6 -- along with the Docs to Print and IR Print software programs (both available from doctoprint.irprint.com as either a free trial or to purchase) -- fit the bill quite nicely.

The Sipix A6 printer is just a little bit larger than the Palm itself. It runs on AA batteries and receives its info from the Palm via infrared (IR), which makes it totally cordless. The Sipix also uses thermal imaging, which eliminates the need for ribbons or ink jet cartridges, which is convenient; but it does require the use of specially coated A6 size thermal paper, also available from Sipix (and Amazon) in either rolls or sheets.(I use the latter -- and carry a little stapler with me -- since it lays flatter and looks much neater.)

The basic Sipix A6 software (also from IR Print) that comes with the unit, only allows one to print entries from the Palm Calendar, To Do, Memo and Address functions, which in itself, is only mildly useful.

To do more, here's what you'll need to install on your Palm:

Docs To Go (DataViz) + Docs to Print + IR Print*

    * The more enhanced version of IR Print available from their website.

Once all three of these are installed, you'll be able to print Word documents, not only to the Sipix A6, but also to all of the IR capable models from HP (such as the DeskJet 990 series) and from Canon (including the BJC line of portable ink jet printers), which is really cool!

Being thermal, the print quality of the Sipix unit is, unfortunately, rather crude; and the speed is rather slow (especially when compared to regular laser and ink jet printers). But the Sipix is still the smallest portable printer available today for my Palm. And I carry it -- along with a slim box of A6 paper -- everywhere with me in my briefcase.

I use the Sipix to print rough drafts of my work (including product reviews such as this one), which is wonderful, since perusing a printed copy -- especially with multiple pages -- is still easier than scrolling up-and-down a miniature screen.

The Sipix printer, as a watch-out, does have a tendency to drain four AA alkalines rather quickly. As a remedy, I've switched to the new AA size Energizer photo-lithium batteries, which cost a little more, but last many times longer.

With my Sipix A6 printer, I can now print Word files directly from my Palm -- whenever and wherever I need it -- which is truly a dream come true! ... Read more

Franklin MWD-1440 Dictionary and Thesaurus with Bookman II

    Editorial Review

Why pull heavy books off the shelf when you can consult your lightweight, portable Franklin MWD-1440 dictionary and thesaurus? It easily fits into your pocket and includes games and spelling correction, too.

The MWD-1440, an electronic version of a Merriam-Webster dictionary and thesaurus, is easy to set up and learn. Just insert two coin-cell batteries (included) to get the unit running. Operating the MWD-1440 is intuitive, but Franklin has also included a manual in English and Spanish, as well as condensed instructions that appear on the inside of the unit's protective cover.

To look up a word, turn on the unit, type the word, and press Enter. For example, when we evaluated the MWD-1440, we looked up "iconoclast," and the unit displayed two complete definitions along with the word's Middle Latin and Middle Greek etymology. We pressed the Up and Down arrow keys to scroll through the information. For a list of synonyms, we pressed the Thes button, and the unit displayed six synonyms for the first definition and four synonyms for the second definition. While the unit is simple to operate, typing is difficult because of the tiny keys.

In addition to dictionary and thesaurus functions, the unit has a crossword-puzzle solver, a calculator, and a metric/currency converter. There's also a searchable list of SAT words for those studying for the college boards. The Confusables feature marks words that are commonly confused with each other (for example: their, they're, and there) and clarifies them. The Learnables feature includes flashcards that display words and allow you to guess the definitions; you can press Enter to see if your answer is correct. The unit also contains nine games: Hangman, Anagrams, Word Train, Word Builder, Jumble, Link Four, Link Four (for two players), Tic Tac Toe (for one player), and Tic Tac Toe (for two players).

With its low price, expandability, and portability, the Franklin MWD-1440 makes a fine pocket-sized dictionary and thesaurus. --Mike Brown

5-0 out of 5 stars great ending
The Franklin MWD-1440 Dictionary and Thesaurus with Bookman II
is a perfect purchase for those who expected more from the MWD-1300. It is a rolicking tale of words fed into a dictionary and a thesaurus then spit out through an electronic keyboard and screen at the touch of a finger (or fingers). It rocks from A to Z! Buy it and you'll never look back.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this little thing.I take it with me everywhere.
I got one of these things for Christmas a couple years ago, and I don't know how I got along without it, (at least until I lost it a while ago, but I'm sure I'll find it eventually).

The dictionary is very useful, I never read a book without this by my side anymore.(The expansion pack for an increased dictionary is a great addition.)It's detailed enough that I often look up words I already know just because I'm sure I'll find some new meaning to them.As a spell checker I've almost never been let down by this little toy, except for the few rare (but frustrating) cases where it just didn't know the word exists.I don't use the thesaurus much, so I can't comment on that functionality.

The little games are great to play when you have a spare moment. They're a fun way to improve your vocabulary.Since I never leave the house with this thing, I'll always take it out whenever I'm in a long line or on the bus.

An issue I have with this gizmo:There's a pretty low limit on how many words it can "learn" (remember for later use), around 20-25 I think.I often have it learn new words so I can memorize them more thoroughly later on through the flashcard game, and it's bothersome when I hit the limit.

The flip case could be a bit easier to use, but that's a very minor complaint.

3-0 out of 5 stars How does the hotsync cable work??
Being able to recharge the Palm is great, but my kit did not come with instructions. How do you start the hotsync process, since the hotsync cable (unlike the normal nontravel hotsync cradle) does not have a hotsync button??

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy, but a lot of bits
I use my travel charger quite often. It is great to not have to carry around the full cradle just to charge the battery in my Palm Vx while I'm away from home and office. The extra sync cable is rarely useful for me, as I feel awkward syncing to someone else's machine but it has been handy for installing a needed program update or grabbing a new game while on the road.

The only quibble I have is that the kit has a lot of bits to keep track of. A more elegant design would have one cable that connects to the Palm device with the other end capable of plugging into the charger or a sync connector, depending on your needs. That would perhaps enable the charger to have all the various international adapters in one unit instead of loose. Still, it is a valuable accessory and has been worth the cost for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good investment
When I bought my Palm V many models ago, I needed a light, space-friendly charger to take with me whenever I went home for break during school. The included charger was too bulky and fragile, so I decided that I should purchase a travel charger. So far, it has worked well. The reason I gave it four instead of five stars is because I have not used the other features. The only thing that I have used is the charger itself. I have yet to use the portable HotSync cradle or the voltage converters. For what I use it for, the price is a little high. Perhaps when I travel overseas and purchase a laptop in the future, it will come in handy. But hey, I love the suitcase-friendly size! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Charge Your Palm While You Drive or Fly!
As my Palm usage has increased significantly of late (due to my adoption of Words To Go and my Palm fold-up keyboard), I found that my energy consumption went up likewise -- and that I needed to recharge more frequently -- especially when I have many meetings at work, take business trips and write memos on the plane, or when I take my kids to sports practice and use my Palm while I wait -- which can all lead to extended periods away from my PC sync cradle and its recharger.

I was therefore happy to find the Fellowes Mobile Charger which has power cords for both the car -- and the plane -- which allow me to juice up my Palm whenever I travel by either mode.
I can now recharge (or have extra power for) my Palm when I need it -- and, more importantly, when I'll remember to use it -- on my way home after meetings (especially after those in which I use my fold-up keyboard -- and Documents To Go -- to type notes directly into my Palm); or after my kids sports practice where I'll compose or revise memos as they practice their athletic drills; or when I'm on the plane in the evening and working while I'm flying to my next destination. I now no longer have to remember to charge my Palm when I get home or to bring a recharger with me on the road and to use it in my hotel room after I arrive, both of which I always forget to do. With the Fellowes Mobile Charger, my Palm is always fully charged and ready for use.

Although I've used the cords domestically, I haven't yet used the mobile charger on an international trip, but I'm guessing that the cigarette lighters in cars and the accessory power plugs in planes are fairly standard worldwide -- much more so than the wall outlets which I know to be different in foreign countries, so taking the Fellowes Mobile Charger on the road overseas may be more convenient than taking the traditional Palm (wall outlet) charger kit and attempting to use its various international adapters.

My only dissatisfaction with the Fellowes Mobile Charger is that it can't plug directly into the Palm keyboard -- to enable me to charge and type at the same time. For those occasions when I need to do both, I'll revert back to inputting via Graffiti or the tap screen keyboard which are still both usable when the power cord is attached. Using the Palm with the mobile charger plugged-in is actually quite convenient since the cord is flexible and the connection at the base of the PDA is very small. (As a comparison, using a Palm while it is nested in its sync cradle -- due to the Palm's upright angle and the fairly immovable nature of the cradle's base -- is much more cumbersome.)

If you're like me and you'd like to charge your Palm when its most convenient -- when you're traveling by either car or plane (and not at home or in your hotel room when other items are on your mind) -- the Fellowes Mobile Charger can be very handy indeed. I now take it with me whenever I drive or fly. But normally, I just leave it (in a storage space underneath the dash) in my car where I use it most! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bit on the blurry side
Well, after reading the other reviews I decided to TRY these out against my better judgement. You can write just fine with the overlay applied. There is no problem at all on my M505.However, seeing the screen is a bit tough. Not sure what type of materials they use, but I would think they could find something a bit more transparent.I would recommend that you do NOT buy these overlays. The lack of clarity is reason enough.Application was a breeze though... :)

1-0 out of 5 stars One Star Is Too Generous
This is the first Palm-specific product that I would not recommend. It is unclear how many mils thick the product is when applied, but it protects the screen so well that a stylus cannot be used.(It might even protect as well than the blast-resistant window film we use in our embassies and consulates. At least it doesn't have air bubbles when applied.) That may be useful for those who exclusively use a keyboard and simply want to protect the screen. However, as a practical matter it renders the Palm useless for other input methods. The package indicated the product was originally intended for Palm III and Palm V products and subsequently repackaged for M500's, so it should come as no surprise that screen coverage is incomplete (albeit not horribly so).One always takes a risk when purchasing on-line without checking, yet this is my all-time low with Amazon. At least the price didn't break the bank, although I'd have rather have the money to buy a half-dozen more grande lattes!

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty much the same as WriteRights.
I also bought these, reading the first two reviews thinking i would get a clear look on my Palm m505. Unfortunately, these overlays are also "embossed" just like the WriteRights, reducing the clarity of the M505s color screen.

These are definately a better buy than the WriteRights though: The overlay sheets are identical, and with the Belkin you get a little piece of cleaning cloth + they are much cheaper. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Better Than Palm Desktop
Franklin Covey, generally recognized as the leader in paper time management products and time management training, has yet to bring their software products up to the level of their overall reputation.Their software does a fairly good job of mimicing the paper-based Franklin Planner, but does not really capitalize on the fact that it's hosted on a computer platform, albeit small. The desktop software does a better job than the Palmtop, especially with respect to prioritizing tasks.

I was somewhat disappointed in the product but do prefer it to the Palm software that came preloaded. ... Read more

PalmOne V Slim Wallet Case (Black)

5-0 out of 5 stars Good case.
The thing I like most about this case is that it's not too bulky like some other cases. When it's folded out it looks almost like a men's wallet, it also holds credit cards and has a clear slot for a driver's lisence or photo ID.The leather is all right.I wouldn't say it's the best, but for the money it's not bad at all....

5-0 out of 5 stars The Personal Teller Machine My Wife Doesn't Know I Have!
I'll admit it.The Palm Slim Wallet Case is a little larger than Palm's Slim Leather Case (which was my previous Palm protectant). And the tongue loop, which is also a little longer and narrower, is also just a tad more cumbersome to use.

But the case still holds my business cards and the doctor's appointment reminders for my kids; and its padded exterior still protects my Palm from possible bumps and bruises in case I drop it (which still happens on occasion, I hate to say).

The most significant improvement (in addition to the wallet feature), however, is that the attachment rail is now suspended from the case by a durable leather strip -- which is much stronger than the flexible TPE rubber strip used on the slim leather case, which was always the first portion on this carrier to wear out.

But, best of all, the full-length (wallet-style) pocket -- which is great for holding cash, checks or receipts -- is virtually invisible (the two cases being almost indistinguishable from one another, except for the slight difference in size), so no one needs to know that my Palm case is also a billfold.I can now stash some extra cash -- that is easily accessible, since my Palm is always with me -- in a place where my wife won't discover it, particularly when she goes riffling through my wallet looking for lunch money for the kids.(Whew!)

The larger size of the wallet case (versus the slim case) does make for a slightly larger bulge in my front pocket when I carry it (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially for one's ego). But the convenience of having a little extra legal tender with me (hidden with my Palm) more than makes up for it.

As my new personal "teller machine," my Palm -- esconced within my new slim wallet case -- continues to become more and more versatile.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless
Please do not buy this case. While the leather is cushioned and nice to hold, the case does not offer any protection for the corners at all. The case does not seem to fit the Palm against the spine either, warping and twisting. The case is also bulkier than I had anticipated.

I am going to buy the aluminum RhinoSkin case for a better fit and more protection. I strongly suggest it. ... Read more
