4-0 out of 5 stars Great macro, color. Tough little camera.
I like this camera so much I bought a second one after my first one got stolen. I have other SLR/pro cameras, but take the most shots on this as it's TINY and with me always. It takes great macro shots and has terrific color. The 'night' setting has been fun too. Am surprised to read about others' problems with the LCD -- my cam is always getting thrown around in bags and pockets and never gets a scratch. The only con would be this camera has a few more red-eye issues than others around this size.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good camera for amateur use
I have 2 kids and wanted a camera that I could carry with me that wouldn't be bulky, eat up batteries and had a fast shutter speed. I have had mine a week and have been playing around with it and am so far pleased with my purchase. The camera is small, easy to use, and the larger LCD screen is really nice. I want to mention that I did not purchase this camera with the intent to print my own pictures, I just upload them to my computer and make CD albums and/or sometimes I e-mail them to friends. I did notice one thing that I am not thrilled about - unless there is a lot of lighting the pics are sometimes blurry. For example: OUTDOOR pics when the sun is out turn out GREAT, no blurs or anything and that is with my kids running, but if it's not really sunny you might need to use the flash. INDOOR pics turn out good if there is a LOT of light otherwise you have to use the flash, I took a piture of my ceiling fan on high and w/out the flash it was a tan blur, with the flash on there was absolutely no blur at all - you could see each individual fan blade prefectly. So the flash makes a big difference! I have been leaving it on auto so the camera will use it when it feels it needs to and that seems to be working. Overall it is a good camera for the average user, and for the money its a good deal!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great camera for an amateur
I bought this camera when the SD300 4.0 MP came out. I was debating between the two and found more reasons to buy this one over the other.

1.)Larger LCD screen (trust me, it's MUCH better to be able to see your pictures more clearly without squinting)
2.)It was much slimmer and lighter
    3.)It costed $100 less

So why settle for something more when all you want is to take nice, decent pictures? If you're going professional you should look at the S series. But if you want a camera you could carry around (in your shirt pocket!)just to hang out with friends or go on a vacation without having to lugg all this equipment with you, this is the perfect camera. I've had it for about 6 months now (I even dropped it once =I) and it's working perfectly.

The only drawback is the little flash circles it makes whenever I take a picture while others are flashing. I don't know if that should be a problem.

    Otherwise, it's the darnest thing!

5-0 out of 5 stars Card working great for 5 months and counting
This 512mb Ultra II SD Card makes a world of difference if you have the right camera to take advantage of it.

I currently use this card with my Canon SD200 which has a Digic II Processor. This awesome camera/card combo allowed me to quickly take multiple pics of runners during the LA Marathon.I was able to focus on certain runners and rapidly take pics before moving on to the next.

After the 5 months of constant use I have not experience any problems with this card.I highly recommend it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Buyers beware.
If you decide to buy this Ultra SD Sandisk card, make sure you have the newer Sandisk card reader. I have the Sandisk model SDDR-73 card reader and couldn't read the photos taken on this card.Evidently, my card reader needs a firmware upgrade that is not available on the SanDisk site.I wrote the tech support from SanDisk and they are bunch of idiots. They told me to return the ultra SD and sent me another one. When I got the replacement ultra SD card, it also would not read on my card reader.I know my older card reader is not defective because it can read my non-ultra SD cards. Finally, I had to buy the SanDisk 8 in 1 card Reader/Writer which can read this stupid card. This Ultra Card doesn't seems to record photos with my digital camera any faster than my non ultra SD card.

5-0 out of 5 stars How many pictures will it store?
How many pictures will it store? It is the most commonly asked question from digital camera enthusiast but usually the question that is the most difficult to get a straight answer about.Well, considering I worked in the memory industry for over 7 years I can help clarify this perplexing question and do so unbiased as I have since changed industries.

The Sandisk 512MB Secure Digital Ultra II, like most 512MB cards, will store on average 568 pictures when used with a 2 megapixel camera, 426 images when used with a 3 megapixel camera,256 pictures when used with a 4 megapixel camera, 204 images when used with a 5 megapixel camera, and 160 pictures when used with a 6 megapixel camera. These numbers are based off the assumption that you are going to shoot your images at the highest quality JPEG setting available for the camera and understand that they are estimates and may be off by as much as 10 percent due to numerous factors including the complexity of the scene being shot and the compression algorithm used by your specific camera.

I truly hope this review was helpful to you in determining whether this 512MB card is the right capacity for your specific needs. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Versatile and Quality Memory Card
I bought this card for my Kodak CX7430. 256 mb is more than enough for my needs. I have been using it for a while now and am very pleased with it. The card is easily puts the pictures from my camera onto my computer. There have never been any errors or file corruptions. The memory card is particularly easy for me because I have a slot for it in the front of my CPU. For people who do not have this slot, the camera can hook up to the computer and transfer files from both the internal memory and the card. I recommend Kingston because I have never had a problem with any of their products, and they offer a lifetime warrenty.

3-0 out of 5 stars Informed Consumer
Having worked in the memory business, J.Chang is right that Kingston is a large company, but they are the largest memory MODULE maker in the world, mostly for DRAM product.Eugene's comment regarding them being a buyer of chip product is right, and he's also correct from what I've seen in return rates for Kingston, Sandisk, Lexar, etc. in that there are more defects because Kingston does not product their own chips like Sandisk. They only package the product as well as the controller chip (which also they do not make).Samsung, who Kingston purchases from, does not sell cards in the US They only package the product.

Personally, as a consumer, I bought Kingston and Sandisk, and found the data transfer rate to be faster on the Sandisk.I don't dare want to lose a picture from a potential defect, even though the chances of this is low for either product.I'll go with Sandisk from now on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Kingston is a Great Brand
I just wanted to counter one of the reviewer's posts that Kingston is a no name generic brand. Kingston is the largest independant memory provider in the world. I have this card and it works great. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great extra battery for your Canon SDXXX
This is the exact same battery that came with my Canon SD200 camera (digital elph).I wanted to have a spare, and while you can find the replacement batteries (generics) for about 1/2 the price I really didn't want to risk anything going wrong by using any other type of battery. It takes a charge well and has a nice life to it, I am satisfied. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Case for people on the go!
I am a professional photographer. The Elph I have is my "play" camera.I got it because of it's size. The problem was it wasn't as convenient as I thought carrying it in my pockets.I found myself leaving it at home.SO>>>
I bought this soft leather case.It is exactly what it is supposed to be for me.A way to carry my Elph on my belt.I forget that I have it on.Until that really cool oppertunity arises.(Which, in San Francisco it does a lot)
The camera is right there at my side.Out in a second.I can take my photo and slip it back into the case with one hand.
Yes, it is a little snug when you first get it.But, this is soft leather and it "grows" with use.Fitting the camera perfectly.
It protects the camera from scratches. But, I wouldn't consider it as a protector, as much as a convenient way to wear the camera on a belt. The perfect case for people who are on the go as much as I am.

4-0 out of 5 stars Canon ELPH Leather Case
This is a cute little black case. My S410 4MP camera fits perfectly in this case (there is no room for anything else, so if you are looking for a camera bag which will fit all your accessories, don't buy this case).

The only down side is the big tacky gold lettering on the case. I wish they used smaller fonts in silver lettering. But it's a good case to lug your camera around in if you go on short trips.

1-0 out of 5 stars This will cover, but not PROTECT,your camera!
This case is effectively just a soft leather sheath. It has no strap or clip--just a belt loop--nor does it have storage for extra batteries or memory cards.

OK, so it's a classy little case, the price is right, and it fits the camera perfectly, but it fails at its basic purpose, which is to protect the camera. There is absolutely no padding or rigidity whatsoever, so when you put this compact little bundle into your purse or pocket, that vulnerable LCD screen remains just as vulnerable.

When (not if) you bonk something against that ill-protected screen, it will crack, and the $100+ repair will not be covered by your Canon warranty.

Ask me how I know this?My daughter, who purchased her Elph with Christmas money and a year's babysitting savings, has had hers for all of two weeks, and it's already on its way to the shop.I might add that this is NOT an irresponsible child, just one who carries pens and a calculator in her purse with the camera.

Avoid a similar scenario and spend a few bucks on a REAL case, please.Canon should be able to do better. ... Read more
